Kia America Donates to Red Cross for Hurricane Ida Disaster Relief

2021 has been a good year for 2021 so far – better than 2020, but with a few surprises in store. Monthly and quarterly sales have been up, new vehicles are winning awards, and the new EV6 is on the way. In August 2021, Kia Corp sold 74-percent of available inventory, with many models jumping in popularity. With the current good fortune the automaker is experiencing, including the high-rankings received during the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, it’s time to share with the community and give back a little. This hurricane season was rough, and the most recent damage came from Hurricane Ida, hitting New Orleans with one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the U.S. mainland. To aid with relief efforts, Kia America donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross.

“Helping individuals and communities in need is part of Kia’s brand purpose and these funds will support people impacted by this devastating storm…Responding to disasters is a team effort and Kia applauds the American Red Cross and its trained workers from across the United States who quickly mobilized emergency supplies into multiple states.” – Sean Yoon, president & CEO, Kia North America and Kia America

The American Red Cross disaster relief efforts are focused on providing shelter, food, and comfort to those affected by Hurricane Ida. This is a continuation of Kia Corp’s “Accelerate The Good” initiative. The last time we heard about this initiative was in May, with Kia donating $250,000 to Covenant House, the largest, primarily privately-funded charity in the U.S. Focused solely on helping homeless and trafficked youth. Prior to this was the second year of the Great Unknowns Scholarship, offering scholarships to students in the U.S. planning to pursue a college undergraduate degree in one of the disciplines included in STEAM: Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Math.

Another way Kia America has recently become more involved with its community is with EnableLA, a ride-hailing service for people with mobility barriers in the Los Angeles area. Made up of a fleet of Kia Telluride SUVs transformed into WAVs, or wheelchair accessible vehicles, each vehicle has been designed with many various mobile solutions, such as wheelchair access, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), UV-free antimicrobial lights, and drivers trained in healthcare. Part of the Universal Mobility Project, EnableLA will be the first of many endeavors to create a mobile ecosystem in the world today.

It’s all about sharing good fortune. As we mentioned, the 2021 J.D. Power IQS recently wrapped up, and although the automaker fell from its previous higher standing when it comes to ranking, several vehicles were ranked as having the best initial quality in their class. The Kia Forte was the highest-ranked vehicle for the Compact Car segment, along with the Kia Soul for Small SUV segment, the Kia Telluride in the Upper Midsize SUV segment, the Kia Sportage with the Compact SUV segment, and the Kia Sedona was ranked highest in the Minivan segment.Want to help Kia give back to the community? The Kia Sedona, Kia Motors’ only minivan, is getting replaced in the 2022 model year with the all-new Kia Carnival MPV. That stands for “Multi-purpose Vehicle”, and although the Carnival MPV may be a new take on the Kia Sedona with a new name, it’s been completely reimagined for a new kind of family car. Like the Kia K5, the rebadged and redesigned Kia Optima, the Kia Carnival boosts its “purposefulness” with more convenient and safety features. Making the cabin more roomy and family-friendly, any growing families with newborns or young ones must be wondering about installing car seats. A little list was put together by Cars.com, and we wanted to share some of the most important information.

Perfect Fits

Unless opting in for the second-row lounge seats available on some 2022 Kia Carnival MPV trims, consumers can fit up to three car seats for situating young ones in the second and third-row. As with most vehicles these days, the LATCH child seat restraint system is standard, and the Carnival MPV comes with three sets. The anchors are all easy to find and connect with plenty of clearance around the child or infant. LATCH was designed with child seat safety and stability in mind, so of course it’s one of our perfect fits.

Kia Motors is one automaker really raking it in lately. If it isn’t a new vehicle concept, then it’s another accolade from a big name in the industry. It’s springtime in 2021, and although we’re only a few months into the year, every publication and organization wants a piece of this automaker. Only a matter of time before J.D. Power names Kia Motors as a highly ranked automaker during the Initial Quality Study. Until then, we have other names that every consumer, especially parents, look towards when car shopping, especially if in the market for a would-be teen driver if they got behind the wheel of their own. PARENTS, the leading source for busy, millennial moms, just named Kia on its list for Best Family Cars 2021.

This is no small feat. The PARENTS Best Family Cars 2021 list covers a wide selection of new-model vehicles including minivans, three-row SUVs, two-row SUVs, and family sedans. Just to make the list, a vehicle must provide high-tech performance, safety, and convenience features across multiple categories. As any family knows, life can be unpredictable. Having features to match that unpredictability with versatility makes any vehicle an instant win, but with over 50 vehicles being tested by PARENTS experts, competition can be rough. Sometimes, winners also come down to safety features, and Kia Motors has that on lock down with the Kia Drive Wise package, now known as Kia’s renowned Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

We’re only a few months into 2021, and Kia Motors continues to impress with new models like the electric Kia EV6 and Kia Carnival MPV, interesting technology, and more awards and accolades to add to the trophy cabinet. The latest honors comes from Vincentric for its Best Fleet Value in America Awards. Known as a mass-market brand, Kia Motors is surely at the top of “fleet” vehicles, constantly topping the charts for the J.D. Power Initial Quality Studies, and Kia Motors intends to extend that quality to the luxury class with the luxury sports sedan Kia K8. This time, the spotlight is on ownership value over the cost of a vehicle’s lifetime.

Vincentric is one of the many names in the automotive world known for working with data and analyzing that data to find the best vehicles on the market today. It takes data, knowledge, and insight into the automotive industry, and Vincentric is a key player that groups like AAA, JD Power, and even Stellantis read up on when looking for information for consumers and automotive insight on what they can provide. The Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America awards are held to recognize vehicles and trims which have the lowest total cost of ownership over its lifetime.

Kia Motors Debuts New Generation Kia Sedona Overseas

Kia Motors is as busy as ever, we’re surely pleased. The new 2021 Kia Stonic, the mid-cycle refresh on the Kia Stinger, and the newest addition, the Kia Sonet, there’s a lot to love. Now there’s another new addition, except it’s more like a new generation of a vehicle sold overseas that we know by another name. Stateside, we know it as the Kia Sedona minivan, whereas in Korea, the automaker calls it the Carnival, and for 2021, the new Kia Carnival will go on sale in Korea this year, subsequently followed by international markets. We’re not sure if Kia Motors will follow the pattern of the Kia Optima and change the names, but we think the fourth-generation Kia Sedona (Carnival) might just make it here by 2022.

Sure, 2022 seems a bit far away, but good things take time. An automaker needs to make sure their vehicles are successful before producing all-new bodies for the U.S. and other countries that drive on the right side of the road and then the delivery costs to get them there. Like all automakers, Kia Motors is just teasing the new Kia Carnival minivan, and it’s looking pretty nice, inside and out.

Kia Motors Sells Large SUVs for Little Vacations

The auto industry is picking itself up by the bootstraps and automakers are starting to get back to work, with Kia Motors charging forward like a warrior into battle. Even with the economy and many industries taking a hit during the Coronavirus pandemic, Kia Motors, surprisingly, didn’t do half bad during May 2020. As far as we can see, the total sales year-to-date (YTD) in 2020 when compared with the YTD sales in 2019, Kia Motors is only about 30k off. The vehicles matching the closest with last year’s numbers are large vehicles, and those are the perfect vehicles for a road trip when practicing social distancing.

“With our expanded lineup of award-winning SUVs leading the way, Kia continues to defy expectations and outperform the industry. In fact, Sportage set a new retail sales record for the month of May…And with several exciting new products debuting in the months ahead and our dealers implementing touchless shopping and servicing practices, we continue to focus not only on exceeding the needs of our customers but also on their health and well-being.” – Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America

In May 2020, Kia Motors sold 7,756 units of the Kia Sportage, with the Kia Sorento close behind with 7,262 units sold. Even the Kia Sedona minivan, a dying breed, sold more units in 2020 than it did in 2019 with 1482 units sold. Although vehicles with 5-8 passenger seating capacity may not be the best idea fully packed during a worldwide pandemic, even post-quarantine. However, all the space a 5-8 passenger vehicle can offer makes it easy for the driver and passengers to practice social distancing, if only three-feet-apart versus six.

Kia Motors has a select few of minivans – one really, and it hasn’t gotten much attention in recent years is the Kia Sedona. It’s attractive, well-rounded, and comes with a great starting MSRP of $27,600 (plus destination fee). Recently, PARENTS magazine wrapped up their “Best of” list, and the Sedona popped up. Yes, it would seem that, according to consumers who are also parents, the Kia Sedona deserves to win the Parents magazine “Best Family Cars of 2020” award, and for the second consecutive year, no doubt.

“Finding the right vehicle for your family can be a challenge since there are so many tech and safety options to consider, but the Sedona makes it easy by starting off at an incredible value so families can opt for more of the desirable features they want…Add Kia’s industry-leading warranty into the equation, and the Sedona becomes even harder for families to pass up – it’s with them for the long haul.” – Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America (KMA)

Just to land on this list, 2020 Best Family Cars award winners are determined via a number of tests. For one, all minivans and SUVs on the list need to have passed government safety tests with excellent results. Second, child passenger safety technician is installed in multiple car seats to test their performance. Finally, test drive by an automotive expert evaluates a variety of features of the vehicle, including its performance, braking, steering, technology, and more. There were more than 50 other competitors consisting of parent-tested minivans, SUVs, and sedans, but you can’t deny a winner.

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Stinger Business Insider

The Kia Stinger sports car just can’t be beat. Winning award after award, the Kia Stinger will be forever etched into our minds as the Kia Motors vehicle that stole hearts all through 2017 and 2018. It’s not just performance that the Kia Stinger has, although U.S. News & World Report named the Kia Stinger as the Best Four-door Sports Car. WardsAuto also named the 2018 Kia Stinger for Best Interior. Most recently, the Kia Stinger won a Digital Ad Campaign Award for Kia Motors, and there’s even more good news to share. Sharing the spotlight with the Kia Stinger are four affordable Kia models.

Business Insider and the Kia Stinger

Boy, if you want an in-depth look at a vehicle, the Business Insider Car of the Year is the review to look at. Taking home the big trophy for 2018, the Kia Stinger is Business Insider’s Car of the Year for 2018. Having only presented the trophy four times before, Kia Stinger is officially the fifth car to receive the trophy and the award. This sports car follows the Corvette Stingray in 2014, the Volvo XC90 in 2015, the Acura NSX in 2016, and the Porsche Panamera in 2017.

“In the half-decade we’ve been giving out our Car of the Year award, there had never been a vehicle that established itself as an early front-runner only to maintain its perch all year. But as soon as Senior Correspondent Matt DeBord drove the Kia Stinger in the Bay Area at the beginning of 2018, he knew it was something special. On return to Business Insider’s New York office from the West Coast, he could barely contain his enthusiasm.” – Business Insider

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Motors Leading Brand

For the past few years, Kia Motors has increasingly met and exceeded consumers expectations. Ever since their “The Curve Ahead” promo for the Kia Stinger, the automaker has been doubling up on their improvements to push the brand forward. Now, for the fourth consecutive year, Kia Motors is the highest ranked non-luxury brand according to the J.D. Power 2018 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) results. Along with Genesis, Kia Motors is leading the brand, and four Kia models ranked highest in their respective segments.

J.D. Power 2018 U.S. Initial Quality Study

Every year, J.D. Power and Associates conduct the Initial Quality Study, a survey-based study that focuses on vehicle quality reported by drivers after 90 days of ownership. The study is conducted each year, with the survey period lasting from February to May, and the 2018 IQS is based on responses from 75,712 purchasers and lessees of new 2018 model-year vehicles. Survey participants answer 233-questions organized into eight vehicle categories designed to provide manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement.

Eight Kia Motors Models Rated with TSP or TSP+ from IIHS

Miami Lakes Automall Kia IIHS TSP

Kia Motors just keeps getting good news it seems, and we’re more than happy to share it. If it isn’t winning an award for the “Best Family Large Sedan” (2018 Kia Cadenza) from U.S. News & World Report, or winning a trophy when WardsAuto named the 2018 Kia Stinger on the “10 Best Interiors” list, then it’s news about an upcoming concept, like the awaited debut of the Kia Telluride SUV. Now in spring of 2018, when a lot of organizations seem to be wrapping up analysis for awards and lists, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded eight Kia Motors vehicles with a “Top Safety Pick” or “Top Safety Pick+” rating.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, is a trusted organization for rating vehicle safety by putting it through five impact-crash simulations. The five tests consist of the following for crash avoidance and mitigation: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. The first test is the hardest, and most vehicles have difficulty with it; it replicates what happens when the corner of a car hits a static object at 40 mph – oof!

These tests help the IIHS evaluate a vehicle’s safety based on crashworthiness, how well a vehicle protects its passengers in a car crash — and crash avoidance and mitigation — technology that can prevent a car accident or lessen its severity. Thus, before it hits the streets, a car is smashed up and tested for safety in head-on collisions, side-impact, roof strength, head restraints, and crash avoidance and mitigation. The IIHS rates vehicles on a scale from poor to good, “good” being the highest rating. To get a TPS+, a vehicle must get high ratings across the scorecard.
