Sometimes it feels like the U.S. is getting short-changed on the types of vehicles in the world, right? Look at Mitsubishi, some of their best models are only available in Europe and Asia- here’s looking at you Outlander PHEV. Well, there’s another auto brand that doesn’t introduce some models in the U.S. — Kia Motors.

Like other manufacturers, Kia names  one car model differently depending on the location it is available. After narrowing it down, we found three vehicles that haven’t made it to the U.S. that are available in other countries around the world – the Kia Carens Rondo, the Kia Cee’d, and Kia Optima Sportswagon.

Kia Carens Rondo

Prepare for a bit of a pattern here, because all of these vehicles have some hatchback variation to it. Maybe hatchbacks never made a comeback in the states and that’s why midsize SUVs like the Kia Carens Rondo are still hiding elsewhere. Currently in its third generation, the Kia Carens Rondo is actually sold north of the U.S. in Canada. Earlier generations were sold in the states before, but were discontinued in 2011.

Kia Optima Hybrid, Soul EV and Niro: 3 Fuel Efficient Kias

Friday, August 5th, 2016

Miami Lakes 2015 Kia Soul EVEarlier this year, Kia decided to spearhead the competition from other auto manufacturers by releasing several eco-friendly cars. With more companies thinking “green,” the variety of eco-friendly cars on the roads today is pretty diverse, however Kia offers a lot of diversity in its collection of eco-friendly vehicles. Today, we’re taking a look at three of Kia’s eco cars: the 2016 Kia Soul EV, the 2017 Kia Niro, and the 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid.

Let’s first talk about the Kia Optima Hybrid. The fuel economy is definitely the shining characteristic of this car, sitting at 36/40 city/highway MPG. Described as a car that mixes style and eco-dynamics, if its classy exterior is anything to go by, color us impressed. The Kia Optima Hybrid has the signature “Tiger Nose” look, designed with aerodynamics in mind; given that its side airflow vent allows for air to pass freely through the front bumper and reduces drag, it certainly accomplishes that goal.

Kia-Optima-T-Hybrid-Kia Dealers in Miami

Kia and its sister company, Hyundai, are working hard to improve their vehicles’ fuel economy over the next several years. They plan to increase their lineups’ efficiency ratings by 25 percent by the year 2020.

They also intend to boost the number of their eco-friendly models from their current combined 7 to at least 22. They’re looking toward the future, and they know that future must include increasingly sustainable solutions.

It’s clear that this work is already well underway at Kia. The Optima Hybrid, which gets 40 miles per gallon on the highway, has been generating a lot of interest among consumers who shop at Kia dealers in Miami.
