The 2022 Kia Carnival MPV, otherwise known as a “multipurpose vehicle”, has been a winner since its debut. Kia Corp’s entry into the luxury vehicle segment, the automaker has already topped the charts when it comes to the mass market. The Kia Niro EV being the highest ranked electric vehicle in the mass auto market during the 2022 J.D. Power EVX Study is plenty proof of that. Not only does the Kia Carnival MPV come equipped with luxurious features and upscale tech, but the Carnival is also making its way to the winners’ circle of many automotive publications. Recently, in early March 2022, the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV won the 2022 Autotrader Best New Car Award. The newest award is being named “Family Vehicle of the Year” by AutoGuide.

“The Kia Carnival MPV is truly a multi-purpose vehicle and breaks the mold of what many perceive a vehicle like this should be…We’re proud to receive AutoGuides’ family vehicle award, celebrating the Carnival MPV’s premium design and abundant safety technology. This award further validates the Carnival MPV’s wide-reaching appeal, which resulted in our popular MPV capturing 9.3 percent market share in its segment in 2021.” – Steven Center, COO and EVP, Kia America

A win like this is always another feather in the cap for an automaker. Like many other automotive publications out there, AutoGuide reviews cars, writes about new and used cars, reports on news in the automotive industry, and yes, puts together “Best of” lists. AutoGuide came to their decision about the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV after a panel of seven editors and reporters drove hundreds of vehicles across North America, measuring vehicles based on value, user-friendliness, space, safety, and more. The group of vehicles were cars, trucks, and utility vehicles. There were 40 finalists, and the Carnival MPV made the final list of only eight vehicles.

If you’re a prospective consumer looking to buy a new car or in the market for a lease, then automotive publications like Autotrader may be a well-known name by now. Known for their reviews, car buying information, and the lists they put together every year, Autotrader is a lot like the many other websites out there helping consumers get the details about a car purchase before setting foot on the lot. In February 2021, Autotrader put together its “Best New Cars for 2021” list, and the new 2021 Kia Sorento and Kia K5 were named on the list. This year, the all new multi-purpose vehicle from Kia Corp earned its place for the “Best New Cars for 2022” by Autotrader, the new 2022 Kia Carnival MPV.

“The Kia Carnival is notable for two specific reasons. First, it proves you don’t need to buy from a traditional luxury brand to get a truly luxurious vehicle. And second, Kia has taken the best parts of a family car and combined those with the utility, look, and appeal of a high-end SUV…Kia vehicles are so significantly different today versus just a few years ago, new car shoppers owe it to themselves to test drive a Kia before making a final decision.” – Brian Moody, Executive Editor, AutoTrader

Kia EV6 and Carnival Win 2022 GOOD Design Awards

It’s January 2022 and Kia Corp is already earning some rewards. Known as the GOOD DESIGN Awards, the Kia EV6 electric crossover and fourth-generation Kia Carnival MPV both took home top honors in the “Transportation” category, adding onto the already growing list the EV6 and Carnival have earned since their debut. The EV6 is its own success, the first all-electric vehicle to come from the automaker with no predecessor, and the Kia Carnival will be the automaker’s attempt at surpassing the mass market and go luxury. In 2020, Kia was ranked as the highest non-luxury brand during the 2020 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, giving the automaker the guts to introduce its first luxury model, the Kia Carnival.

“Securing these GOOD DESIGN awards is an endorsement of the approach we took with the styling of the Kia EV6 and Kia Carnival, and is a tribute to the collaborative efforts of our talented international design team. It truly has been a pivotal year for us; we launched our brand new design philosophy ‘Opposites United’, the ethos of which is already transforming our cars, and we are determined to ensure Kia keeps challenging the boundaries of automotive design.” – Karim Habib, Head of Kia Design Center

The GOOD Design Awards may not be the most well-known name to consumers, but the awards ceremony has been going on since 1950, making it one of the oldest design competitions in the world. Organized by Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, a judging panel of industry leaders from over 50 countries vote on new models every year that display “innovation, sustainability, superior design, and unparalleled function”. In recent years, GOOD Design has awarded Kia more than once – last year, the third-generation Kia K5 sedan and the fourth-generation Kia Sorento SUV won over the “Transportation” category, and even the Telluride SUV and the Soul crossover won awards earlier than that.

As automakers around the world race to find the next powertrain, safety feature, or automated driving scheme that will earn them a gold medal, there is only one way to know the best of the best. That’s why we have multiple trusted publications that review vehicles for quality, such as Kelley Blue Book or Car and Driver, and organizations that conduct studies on vehicle quality and satisfaction, such as J.D. Power and AutoPacific. When it comes to safety features and standards, we have two safety organizations that rate vehicles and may even keep some off the roads – the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). They’re probably why the return of “suicide doors” never made it past the concept model in 2018. IIHS has been busy rating vehicles lately, and Kia Corp is getting pats on the back, with the 2022 Stinger sport sedan having received a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating, and now the Kia Carnival MPV is getting its own Top Safety Pick (TSP) rating from IIHS.

Kia America Introduces Kia@Home

Shopping from home was a huge change back in the day – how do you shop for a dress or a pair of jeans without trying them on? How can you trust the condition of the item you’re getting or know that it even exists and the retailer isn’t a scam? Eventually, the trend took over, and now we have companies like Stitch Fix for finding clothes in our size and the all-mighty Bezos – I mean, Amazon – for everything else. Kia Corp is an automaker from South Korea that has been making a large name for itself lately, getting involved with the community and the youth. With the current large leap into all-electric vehicles with the new Kia EV6 and Niro EV, Kia Corp has launched a new brand to match the on-demand, at-home economy – Kia@Home.

As described, “Kia@Home” brings the ability to shop for a vehicle while at home. Called a new product and brand experience, consumers just don’t get to shop online for a new car with Kia@Home, nor are they treated to a Virtual Reality viewing through a smartphone mobile app like many automakers are starting to adopt for prospective clients. No, Kia goes a step ahead and makes it easy for consumers to get into the driver’s seat of vehicles with scheduled test drives. All one needs to do is signup for a test drive at a convenient location of their choosing and meet the agent in charge there.

Kia Corp Has Record Sales for July 2021

Last week we talked about how strong Kia Corp continues to grow after the pandemic shook things up in 2020 and the semiconductor chip shortage is hurting just about everyone. Even so, Kia Corp closed out the first half of 2021, the second quarter ending in June 2021, with the highest ever record for first-half yearly sales – 378,511 units sold. Some might think it’s because it’s the first half of the year, people want to get out there and start driving again, maybe treat themselves to a new car or keep a new resolution to travel more. Well, the sales for July just came in, and Kia Corp continues to impress with the automaker’s highest July sales in company history.

“Kia continues to build on the momentum from our record breaking first-half by setting yet another recor…Kia sold more than 74-percent of our available inventory in July as compared to 34-percent during the same period last year, a solid reflection of the strong consumer interest in the brand.” – Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America

That’s crazy. Sure, just about any automaker is going to sell more than they did last year, but even with the aftermath, Kia sold 74-percent of all available units produced. That’s not bad at all. The new record for Kia Corp for July sales is 70,099 units. The Carnival MPV was recently introduced and has seen a steady rise in sales. Kia posted the fourth consecutive month-over-month increase for the Carnival, marking the model’s highest monthly sales performance, with nearly over 3500 units sold in July, a total of 15,641 units sold to-date for 2021. The major breadwinners for July though are the Kia Forte, Kia Sportage, and Kia K5/Optima, followed by the Kia Telluride before falling under 8,000 units sold. In total, July sales were up by 34-percent year-over-year, or when comparing 2021 sales with 2020 sales.

These sales in July only help compliment some of Kia Corp’s success in July alone. Recognized with prestigious industry awards and accolades, the 2022 Stinger sports sedan was awarded the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). Most recently, the Kia K5 was named the most satisfying premium midsize car, and the Telluride rated as the most satisfying Large Crossover SUV during the 2021 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards by AutoPacific. Vehicle satisfaction is decided by real owners who take a survey designed to rate vehicles on 36 individual model attributes ranging from driving performance and features usability to seating comfort and interior design. More than 89,000 new car and light truck owners answered the survey this year. If you need a strong opinion, there it is.

Remember, the Kia Sportage is all-new for the new generation in 2021; the Kia Telluride is the automaker’s largest SUV to date (and there are rumors about an ell-electric variant); and the Kia K5 is the all-new generation of the Kia Optima, bringing its sports car style and performance to the forefront of the model. Kia even released a new GT-Line AWD Premium Package for the K5 to really show off its performance capabilities. The newest of them all is the Kia Carnival MPV, the most luxurious vehicle by Kia Corp thus far.Want to check out these new vehicles by Kia Corp? Find your new Kia vehicle at Miami Lakes Automall.

Kia Motors has been doing really well as of late, revealing all kinds of new vehicles being added to the lineup in the coming years. The very cool all-electric EV6 is looking to be a high-tech automobile, and the high-class luxury sports sedan K8 could set a new standard for Kia Motors interior quality. The automaker recently restyled the Kia Optima for the next generation of the vehicle, turning it into a vicious sports car in the same family of the Kia Stinger. To celebrate, Kia renamed the Optima with the same moniker in South Korea, K5. Kia Motors then did the same when replacing the Kia Sedona, with a newly designed Kia Carnival MPV. Check out the highlights.

Powertrain

Keeping it simple, this new minivan/multi-purpose vehicle comes with four trims, all powered by the same powertrain. Under the hood of each vehicle is a 3.5-liter V6 engine optimized with gasoline direct injection (GDI), capable of generating a best-in-class 290 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard for each trim. It responds well and has just enough punch to say “That’s not a minivan”.

Family Features

Able to seat eight passengers, the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV comes with an interesting second row. Each seat is its own distinct seat, making up three seats versus a split-row bench. Designed with a Slide-Flex seating system, the center slides forward and back, and the seats on either end can slide side-to-side. Reaching a child in the rear is easy, and for older children, the middle seat folds up for a cupholder and somewhere to rest their phone versus their pocket.

How Well Do Car Seats for Kids Fit into the new Kia Carnival MPV

The Kia Sedona, Kia Motors’ only minivan, is getting replaced in the 2022 model year with the all-new Kia Carnival MPV. That stands for “Multi-purpose Vehicle”, and although the Carnival MPV may be a new take on the Kia Sedona with a new name, it’s been completely reimagined for a new kind of family car. Like the Kia K5, the rebadged and redesigned Kia Optima, the Kia Carnival boosts its “purposefulness” with more convenient and safety features. Making the cabin more roomy and family-friendly, any growing families with newborns or young ones must be wondering about installing car seats. A little list was put together by Cars.com, and we wanted to share some of the most important information.

Perfect Fits

Unless opting in for the second-row lounge seats available on some 2022 Kia Carnival MPV trims, consumers can fit up to three car seats for situating young ones in the second and third-row. As with most vehicles these days, the LATCH child seat restraint system is standard, and the Carnival MPV comes with three sets. The anchors are all easy to find and connect with plenty of clearance around the child or infant. LATCH was designed with child seat safety and stability in mind, so of course it’s one of our perfect fits.

Kia Motors and Google Launch New Kia Service

Kia Motors and the Hyundai Motor Group as a whole are starting to revolutionize the way consumers use and communicate with their cars. Bluetooth wireless technology and voice commands have been around for several years now, but people were using a service or feature, not exactly talking to the car like we talk to Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Kia Motors isn’t quite there yet, but the automaker is inching closer as more technology is made available. Last year it was “Hello Kia”, an Intelligent Personal Agent, and this year it’s a joint venture between Kia and Google.

When you’re working with Google, you’ve finally become a legend. With the new “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant, everyone with an Android or Google-powered phone with eventually get to use this new feature. Eventually, because the pilot phase for this feature has been launched all the way in Ireland. Why Ireland? Aside from the fact that the “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant App was jointly developed by Kia Europe and Kia Ireland, I tried to test it on my Google Pixel 4a – no dice.

Kia Motors Has Best Sales Since March 2016

miami-lakes-kia-seltos-march-sales

Now that March 2021 has passed and the first quarter is over, many automakers are reporting their sales, and a lot of good news is going on compared with last year and the hit many in the industry took after the initial COVID-19 shutdown. Two years ago, the Kia Telluride was released in the first quarter of 2019, and this SUV spearheaded the sales for Kia Motors, making March 2019 the best first quarter performance for Kia Motors since 2016. Kia Motors sold 55,814 vehicles, with the all-new Telluride SUV making up about a tenth of those sales, with 5080 units sold. With the release of the Seltos, K5, Sorento, Carnival MPV in 2020 and 2021, sales have blown through the roof with 66,523 vehicles sold in March.

“After outpacing the industry last year, Kia is on the move again in 2021 and setting sales records as more new customers discover the world-class design and quality built into every one of our sporty sedans and capable SUVs…The successful launches of the all-new Sorento and Carnival have added to the momentum established by the Telluride and helped push the Kia brand to new heights with even greater potential for future growth.” – Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia Motors North America
