Ever since its release, the Kia Telluride, the largest SUV in the automaker’s lineup, has been renowned worldwide. Winning awards left and right, the model earned itself the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards in 2019, winning the 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year from North American Car of the Year (NACTOY award, named as the MotorTrend SUV of the Year, and landing on a Car and Driver 10 Best list. We don’t see the attention dying down any time soon, and the Telluride was named the Best 3-Row Midsize SUV by Kelley Blue Book (KBB) in December 2021, and the automotive reviewer of the same name just called the Kia Telluride one of the Best Family Cars of 2022. No surprise here, as this marks the third year the vehicle has taken top honors during this KBB awards list.
“The award-winning Telluride has been impressing industry experts and consumers alike since going on sale three years ago…With an unrivaled combination of value, comfort, utility and convenience, we are confident that Kia’s largest SUV will continue to succeed in a highly competitive segment, and this latest award from Kelley Blue Book is proof.” Not surprisingly, 93 percent of Telluride owners rate ‘usefulness for carrying passengers and cargo’ either truly outstanding or excellent, higher than all other competitors in the segment. – Steven Center, COO and EVP, Kia America(more…)

The Kia name isn’t unfamiliar to U.S. News & World Report. In 2018, two Kia Motors hybrids, the 2018 Kia Niro and 2018 Kia Optima Hybrid, were listed on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of best hybrids on the auto market today. They were named around the same time the 2018 Kia Stinger was named as one of the “Best Four-Door Sports Cars”, also by U.S. News. The 2018 Kia Sorento was named one of the quietest SUVs by U.S. News & World Report later in 2018. Now in 2019, U.S. News returns with good news for Kia Motors about the Kia Forte and Kia Soul.
A little review, U.S. News & World Report is a respected piece of literature that is a recognized leader in college, grad school, hospital, mutual fund, and car rankings. They cover a wide range of subjects, automotive being one of them, and publish news, opinion, consumer advice, rankings, and analysis across such subjects to inform the consumer market. Throughout the year, like other well-known car research websites – Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, and Cars.com come to mind – U.S. News & World Report puts together lists of their chosen best of in a variety of categories.
Recently, U.S. news & World Report put together lists for the “Best Cars for Teens #25k to $30k” and “Best SUV for Teens $25k to $30k”. Vehicles were evaluated based on a number of variables, including predicted reliability ratings, crash test scores, and available advanced driver assistance features. With more teen drivers entering the roadways every day, making sure they are safe and practice safe driving behavior is as important as ever. However, sometimes a first car comes with a tight budget, and that’s why U.S. News puts these lists together.
The 2019 Kia Forte was named on the “Best Car for Teens $25k to $30k” list, and the 2020 Kia Soul “Best SUV for Teens $25k to $30k.” list. The Forte was heralded for its reliability the numerous Kia Drive Wise advanced driver assistance technologies it offers drivers. Alongside this, the Forte provides the driver and passengers with a comfortable cabin and numerous standard modern technologies like an eight-inch touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Kia Soul is known for many things, and safety is one of them. Also featuring next-gen infotainment and technology standard across the lineup, including a seven-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, the Soul offers available Kia Drive Wise technology and earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.
“We are honored that Forte and Soul took the top spot in their respective segments…These wins reflect Kia’s ‘Give It Everything’ spirit, the commitment to deliver world-class vehicles that stand out from the competition with a plethora of standard equipment, industry-leading warranty and outstanding craftsmanship.” – Orth Hedrick, executive director, Car Planning & Technology, Kia Motors America.
When it comes to finding the right car for teen drivers, safety should always be in mind. Kids today are so easily distracted, having a car with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can help keep them off their phone and focused on the road. Infotainment systems like UVO, available in Kia Motors vehicles, can help them keep their hands on the wheel. Find a safe Kia Motors vehicle like the new Kia Forte and Kia Soul at Miami Lakes Kia.

Kia Motors does it again. We hear a lot about Kia vehicles lately, when it comes to their safety (Quickly Becoming the Safest Car Brand in America), or their style (2018 Kia Stinger Wins 10 Best Interiors Trophy from WardsAuto), or their technology (Kia Motors EcoDynamics). In 2017, many Kia vehicles received all kinds of awards, and 2018 is no different. Recently named one of the “Coolest Cars for Under $20,000” by Kelley Blue Book, the Kia Soul still gets to shine once again when it comes to the family car.
Kia Soul – The Best Budget Vehicle
About a year ago, exactly June 2017, the 2017 Kia Soul was selected by Edmunds and Parents magazine to be their “Best Budget Vehicle”. A lot of this can be attested to three things – value, performance, and safety.
- One, the value of the Kia Soul, currently at a starting MSRP of $16,200* for the 2018 Kia Soul base trim.
- Two, its performance; yeah, a 1.6-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine may not win any track records, but the combined fuel economy of 27 mpg makes the 2018 Kia Soul hatchback a very fuel efficient vehicle.
- And three, the Kia Soul is known for its technology for safety and family-friendly features. If the available UVO eServices infotainment system on a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities doesn’t impress, then maybe the available advanced safety features will. These include autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, smart cruise control, a blind-spot detection system, and a rear cross-traffic alert.
That was the tenth year that Parents magazine and Edmunds have partnered up together to share the Best Budget award. Not everyone has heard of either unless you’re a parent or work in the auto industry. So working together not only raises awareness of these two publications, but also helps to provide a reliable source for families looking to purchase cars for their new drivers.
“The Kia Soul offers more than just unique styling at a reasonable price … It’s also a practical hatchback that packs plenty of useful features into a surprisingly spacious cabin.” – Ed Hellwig, Edmunds senior editor.
Lately, it seems if people aren’t talking about the 2018 Kia Stinger, still an amazing sports car by Kia Motors that wins tons of awards, then people are talking about the hip 2018 Kia Soul. Recently, the Kia Soul sold its millionth unit, a new sales Kia Soul record, and was named the best budget vehicle not too long ago. Coming around the corner of mid-2018, the 2018 Kia Soul was just named on Kelley Blue Book’s “10 Coolest New Cars Under $20,000” list (starting MSRP at $16,200*). Said to be an “alluring combination of bold style, SUV-like versatility, and practicality, with a roster of standard and available features that add to the Soul’s value,” the 2018 Kia Soul is both functional and fashionable for today’s youth drivers.
“Unmistakable styling, with a youthful demeanor, makes the Kia Soul a standout … The Soul’s long list of standard features and practical utility are sure to please, while its excitement factor is increased by a rainbow of available exterior colors – check out bright green Alien 2. This is how you do automotive coolness.” – Michael Harley, executive editor for Kelley Blue Book.
Quite a statement, and to think the 2018 Kia Soul is only in its fifth model year. Known as an iconic urban passenger vehicle offers a fun, funky, and functional approach to everyday driving, the 2018 model focuses on expanding the availability of UVO across the model range by adding the innovative infotainment system to the Base Convenience Package as well as to Soul Plus (+) trim as standard equipment. Other packages include the Soul Plus Primo Package that adds Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and the new Soul Plus Primo “Lit” (groan) Package includes HID headlights and LED positioning lights to enhance Soul’s on-road presence.
Kia Motors has been getting a lot of good press in the last year. The Kia Soul was rated as one of the coolest cars by Kelley Blue Book, and Best Budget Vehicle by two publications. KBB also awarded the 2016 Kia Optima with the Best Buy Award for midsize cars, and the 2017 Sportage won the Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2016. Most recently, for the second-year in a row, Kia Motors nabbed the top spot in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. With all of this and more going on, one has to wonder what’s their secret.
Upon visiting Kia.com, one can learn a little more about Kia Motors. They have philosophies and missions all over the world, in the corporate world and in education. When it comes to the automotive industry however, Kia Motors stands for designing, engineering, and building – or, “World-class design and engineering.” With all the awards and recognition their vehicles receive, it’s no secret. Even the much sought after 2018 Kia Stinger, pushed back sadly, upon its unveiling at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show was said to be a new standard – a car that drives as well as it looks.
We all knew the Kia Soul is one of the cool cars out there. It’s been around since 2009, and a lot of college kids end up in it at some point. It’s practical, it’s got a funky exterior, it’s fun to drive, and it’s very affordable. Now, its cool factor is official. Kelley Blue Book just named the Kia Soul on their list, “Coolest Car Under $18,000”.
We already knew the Kia Soul was pretty cool. It’s a great choice for Millennials to drive the Kia Soul, and it hasn’t dropped in popularity. Plus, it’s received 5-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), so parents know it’s safe. By the way, this isn’t the first time the Kia Soul made KBB’s list. It’s actually the sixth year in a row (2017), meaning it didn’t take long for Kia to get it right on the money, unlike some vehicles that may take several years to make it a worthwhile investment.
