Kia Motors and Google Launch New Kia Service
Thursday, April 29th, 2021
Kia Motors and the Hyundai Motor Group as a whole are starting to revolutionize the way consumers use and communicate with their cars. Bluetooth wireless technology and voice commands have been around for several years now, but people were using a service or feature, not exactly talking to the car like we talk to Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Kia Motors isn’t quite there yet, but the automaker is inching closer as more technology is made available. Last year it was “Hello Kia”, an Intelligent Personal Agent, and this year it’s a joint venture between Kia and Google.
When you’re working with Google, you’ve finally become a legend. With the new “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant, everyone with an Android or Google-powered phone with eventually get to use this new feature. Eventually, because the pilot phase for this feature has been launched all the way in Ireland. Why Ireland? Aside from the fact that the “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant App was jointly developed by Kia Europe and Kia Ireland, I tried to test it on my Google Pixel 4a – no dice.
Kia Releases Smart Device Features for UVO
Friday, July 10th, 2020
Kia Motors is one automaker hitting back hard after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down auto manufacturing plants worldwide. Unveiling the new 2021 Kia K5, investing in the production of micro electric vehicles (EVs) and purpose-built vehicles (PBVs), and developing new tech for connected cars with the UVO infotainment system, the automaker has been busy. Most recently, in the Indian Market, Kia Motors is testing a new feature that seems oddly familiar to some of the technology unveiled during the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show.
Although a convention for consumer products and electronics, automakers some times show up at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and it was during this time that Kia debuted its new Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving (R.E.A.D.) system that can monitor driver mood and behavior, and a “Virtual Touch” system, the world’s first virtual touch-type gesture control technology that used finger gestures to operate parts of the vehicle. This technology hasn’t had much spotlight since, but the Kia Seltos became the first vehicle in the Kia Motors lineup to come with an Intelligent Personal Agent built into the vehicle.
Kia Offering Artificial Intelligence in 2019
Tuesday, January 16th, 2018
Kia has been introducing some futuristic concepts lately. Namely, the Kia Telluride concept. Take a look at the interior. It definitely has a sci-fi look and feel to it. Like Mitsubishi, Kia has also been working on its own AI technology, and we could see vehicles with AI assistants as soon as 2019 if Kia Motors has anything to say about it.
We posted this video a few times on the Miami Lakes Automall blog, but so that no one has to go looking through the archives, here’s the concept movie Mitsubishi put out for its literal smart car with a virtual assistant.
Kakao Co

Back in August, word was that Kia and Hyundai, being that the two are a part of the Hyundai Motor Group, struck a deal with a company called Kakao. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, don’t worry, we’ll recap. Back when the contract between Kakao, Kia, and Hyundai was signed, we talked a little about the business. Kakao, most well-known for its messaging app, Kakao Talk,” is a business built around communication, media and content, entertainment, and transportation. Constantly improving their product lineup with state-of-the-art technology, they’re currently working on AI technology that will be integrated in select cars by Hyundai and Kia.
