As we draw ever nearer to 2022, automotive journalists and publications are rounding up all the data they have. Compiling reviews and votes, analyzing their findings, and putting together lists of the “Best of” cars for this or for that, families or adventure, best interiors, best user experience, best of everything. Around this time of year, vehicles have also been selected to be featured in the 2022 Car of the Year (COTY) awards. Once again, Kia Corp has done it again. Within the same year as its release, the Kia EV6 has been shortlisted for the final round of the 2022 COTY awards.

This definitely wouldn’t be the first time Kia has landed on the COTY awards, or their complementary list, the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) Awards. Not to be confused as one or the other, the COTY awards exist to highlight national and regional models, whereas the WCOTY includes some vehicles that may be unavailable in individual regions, as long as they are not limited to those regions. The WCOTY is also administered by a non-profit corporation, under the guidance of a Steering Committee of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America. Nevertheless, earlier this year, the 2021 Kia Sorento and 2021 Kia K5 landed in the Top 10 the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) Awards.(more…)
