Kia Motors Announces Two New Upcoming Electrified Vehicles

miami-lakes-kia-futuron-concept-ev

Kia Motors is always an automaker that we like hearing about. Always working on some new car technology or an interesting concept, Kia Motors is one brand that keeps moving forward. Most recently, the automaker confirmed that it will be launching two completely new electrified vehicles within the next few years, and both will definitely have a U.S. launch. That’s exciting, seeing as how vehicles manufactured overseas don’t always make it stateside. Moreover, one of the vehicles is a concept we’ve been keeping tabs on, and it seems that a driving range has finally been released, along with other details that demonstrate Kia Motors already working towards fulfilling their automaker’s “Plan S” Strategy.

The Plan S Strategy was launched earlier this year (2020), and highlighted multiple goals for Kia Motors over the next 5 years. A two-track plan, the focus is split between electric vehicles (EVs) and self-driving vehicle technology; and developing personal mobility solutions for consumers. The former begins with 11 new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025, with the first dedicated EV to be launched in 2021. With the recent announcement from Kia Motors, we now know that two EVs are set for launch, with the first being a plug-in hybrid, possibly a crossover. The second is the Kia Futuron.

New Customization App Coming to EV Kia Models

miami-lakes-kia-smartphone-based-ev-performance-settings-app-2

The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show took place back in January, and although it’s mostly focused on consumer appliances and technology, that didn’t stop some automakers from popping up. That includes Kia Motors and their autonomous technology at 2019 CES. One of the technologies they debuted was an automated valet system controlled by the user’s smartphone. Recently, the automaker took a step towards connecting electric vehicles and smartphones through a new app currently in production.

In late April 2019, the Hyundai Motor Group, consisting of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, revealed that a new smartphone app will be coming to fully electric cars to offer consumers the potential to customize and personalize their vehicle on a level that’s not entirely possible with standard gasoline models. There are already apps available for these vehicles for checking out the battery life, charge, adjusting levels of brake regeneration, and switching between different drive modes. This app does much more, and consumers won’t have to worry about voiding a warranty for making these modifications, another blunder gasoline models tend to run into.

2020 Kia Telluride Debuts at 2019 NAIAS

Miami Lakes kia 2020 Telluride 2019 NAIAS

Popping up at 2018 New York Fashion Week and with five concepts at the 2018 SEMA Auto Show, Kia has gone beyond to show that this SUV is as versatile as a crossover with plenty of personal appeal. The production-ready model isn’t the concept we were promised, but we don’t think anyone was pouring chips into seats that can “read and report the health alerts” of its occupants. Given all of the technology Kia Motors presented at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, one could say that the concept features, although not existent in the 2019 debut, may not be that far off. For now, take a look at what the 2020 Kia Telluride debut tells us about the boxy SUV at the 2019 North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show.

Yes, boxy. The model body does come with its curves, but the front and rear fascia have that robust boxy shape SUVs are known for. This is especially true in the front fascia, where the iconic tiger-nose grille is very prominent in this model. A square hood, vertically stacked headlights, and inverted L-shaped taillights all bring the boxy look together. Kia is intent on calling the Telluride their “largest SUV in the lineup” and making it the new vehicle everyone is talking about.

Miami Lakes Automall Lia Sorento Quiet SUV

Kia and Chevy Named on Quietest Car List by U.S. News

Miami Lakes Automall Lia Sorento Quiet SUV

The summer isn’t over, and that means big names in the auto industry are continuing to round up the numbers and finish their lists. One of those was recently J.D. Power, with Kia Motors leading the Initial Quality Study for non-luxury car brands. Another name that popped up was U.S. News & World Report, naming Kia Motors hybrid cars, SUVs, and the Kia Stinger on a variety of lists. Now, U.S. News pops up again, naming the quietest SUVs on the market. Yes, there’s a niche for that, especially for those of us with little ones in the car who need their nappies.

2018 Chevrolet Tahoe

It’s hard to believe that this behemoth of an SUV can be called “quiet”, but U.S. News & World Report named the Chevy Tahoe on their list for a reason – well, a couple of reasons. Namely, U.S. News is quick to point out that the large SUV is a cushioned, quiet ride powered by a 355hp 5.3-liter V8 engine (standard) that provides enough power for most buyers on the market. They also mention the optional 420hp 6.2-liter V8 for its torque and towing capabilities; if it’s as quiet as the standard engine, it’s a win-win.

Because these quiet vehicles may have a focus on family-minded drivers, U.S. News also covers the stylish cabin of the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe and some of the amenities offered. Built with noise-deadening insulation, the cabin is kept quiet from outside noise, and passengers will have plenty of leg space to relax without feeling cramped and they’ll keep cool with tri-zone climate control. For entertainment, every trim comes with Chevrolet MyLink on an 8-inch touchscreen display that features AM/FM stereo, Bluetooth streaming Audio, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities. Oh, and a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot also comes standard.

2018 Kia Sorento

We didn’t forget about Kia Motors. They were in the intro, right? Another vehicle named by U.S. News & World Report for quiet vehicles is the 2018 Kia Sorento SUV. Named the least expensive on the list with a starting MSRP of $25,900 (plus destination fee), the 2018 Kia Sorento has a number of powertrains available, all as quiet as the other for a smooth ride. Consumers can get the fuel-efficient 185hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, get a power boost with the 240hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, or go for gold with the optional 290hp V6 engine.

Again, what family vehicle stops the review at the powertrain? The 2018 Kia Sorento features premium materials for a comfortable ride as it is quiet, able to sit up to seven passengers depending on the trim. With so many trims in the lineup, features are sprinkled around a bit, but if simply looking to take kids to school and run errands with a little entertainment, then the Sorento is a great choice, offering 73.5 cubic-feet of space for groceries, after-school equipment, etc.

Looking for these quiet vehicles and others for driving with the family? We have plenty of safe and powerful SUVs at Miami Lakes Automall.

Five Affordable Vehicles at Miami Lakes Automall

Miami Lakes Automall Affordable Vehicles

When it comes to shopping for a vehicle, most people make it a priority to find a vehicle within their budget. That’s not a bad thing, it’s good practice to live within one’s own means. So when it comes to shopping for items that make life a little more lively, like an automotive vehicle for transportation, it’s good practice to shop smart. When shopping for a new or used car, it’s good to have a budget while looking for a car that is not only practical, but also affordable. We took a look at all of the models made by the seven brands we have available, and here are five of the most affordable vehicles at the Miami Lakes Automall.

Kia Soul

The entry level 2018 Kia Soul comes in at a starting MSRP of $16,200*. Powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine, this vehicle is a great starter vehicle for a new driver. A 130-horsepower engine won’t have teen drivers flying down the highway, and the limited technology won’t distract them too much. Standard features include an AM/FM/MP3/SiriusXM six-speaker sound system and Bluetooth connectivity with the option to upgrade for the UVO eServices infotainment system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, displayed on a seven-inch touchscreen. This upgrade also includes the novelty of a rearview camera display.

Jeep Renegade

Looking to get a little off-road from time-to-time? Starting at $18,445*, the 2018 Jeep Renegade Sport may not have a dedicated 4×4 system, but it comes with 16-inch rims and all-season tires. Plus, the MySky power retractable with removable panels moonroof is an option to look into if just wanting to enjoy the open air. Powered by a 130hp 1.6-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine optimized with dual continuously variable valve timing and gasoline direct injection, 118 lb-ft of torque is a good start. The standard features aren’t too bad either, including Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, keyless entry, and Uconnect 3 on a compact 5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.

Miami Lakes Automall 2018 Kia Stinger GT

Fast and Expensive Cars that Can’t Match the 2018 Kia Stinger

Miami Lakes Automall 2018 Kia Stinger GT

The 2018 Kia Stinger has a lot going for it. A new sports car from Kia Motors, many wanted to get their hands on the Stinger to make modified versions, one of which popped up at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Kia Stinger Limited Editions were also released by Kia Motors a year after its debut to celebrate their newest addition and achievement. The 2018 Kia Stinger has won many awards since its release, and most recently was just named by WardsAuto for the “Best Interior Trophy.” With a starting MSRP of $31,900*, the 2018 Kia Stinger is more affordable than many expensive cars known to drag race. The Kia Stinger GT is even faster, and we’re going to pit it against some of the fastest cars that should probably rethink their price tag when the affordable Kia Stinger GT does laps around them.

Kia Stinger GT

Starting at $38,350*, the middle trim of the 2018 Kia Stinger lineup is the Kia Stinger GT. Powered by a twin turbocharged 3.3-liter DOHC V6 engine that can generate 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, the Kia Stinger GT has a powertrain optimized for success and high performance. The DOHC design stands for “Double Overhead Camshaft”, and it’s a design that basically splits the work of an engine’s cylinders (six in this case) in half to take stress off the engine and allow it to perform more smoothly. This engine has also been optimized with continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) technology to increase the frequency the V6 cylinders intake gas and air and exhaust the resulting fumes, and uses gasoline direct injection for faster fuel delivery into the combustion chamber. Idle Stop and Go has also been integrated to save fuel economy when the engine idles, such as in stop-and-go traffic.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT is said to have a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds. We know it’s power, and we know it’s price. Now take a look at some of its competitors that think “high-performance” equates to “more expensive.”

Porsche Panamera

Yeah, we all know a Porsche is a “great car”, maybe even one of luxury given the starting price of $86,050 (dang!) And that’s for the standard trim; the trim we’re putting up against the 2018 Kia Stinger GT starts at $90,650 and is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that can only generate 330 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque (lol, really?) All that money for a weaker engine that accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds? Pffft, next!

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Niro EV

News About the Kia Niro Electric Vehicle

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Niro EV

First, the 2018 Kia Niro came out early-mid 2017. It was a bit of a showstopper, being the world’s first hybrid crossover. As Kia Motors usually does, if one of their vehicles does well, they tend to expand upon it with different powertrain options. With the Kia Niro already being a hybrid, the next logical step was to make a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and voila! End of 2017, we got the Kia Niro PHEV. Now, an interesting turn of events, Kia Motors is finally adding another electric vehicle to their lineup. That’s right – the Kia Niro is getting its very own electric vehicle (EV) variant.

Details are still a bit dry, but here’s what we know so far. Kia Motors unveiled their all-electric version of Niro at the 5th International Electric Vehicle Expo in Jeju, Korea. The vehicle should appear again at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in September, so it’s safe to say the production of the vehicle is still a little ways away, but one can never be sure with how quickly Kia has been evolving as of late. The previous showing in Korea isn’t all that new though.

The Kia Niro EV was originally unveiled as a concept at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Oddly enough, although an all-electric vehicle, the concept featured a unique front bumper, an exclusive radiator grille, futuristic sporty air intake, and arrowhead-shaped LED daytime running lights. Housed within the flush-mounted grille and subtle geometric pattern is the vehicle’s electric charging port.

2018 Kia Stinger Wins 10 Best Interiors Trophy from WardsAuto

Miami Lakes Automall 2018 Kia Stinger WardsAuto

The 2018 Kia Stinger is by far one of the best Kia models to come out for the 2018 model year. Next to their luxury sedan, the K900, the Stinger sports car set the new standard for Kia Motors. It’s style, it’s technology, and the fact that almost every trim in the lineup is the same aside from few luxury items saved for top-tier trims, it’s impossible to get a bad Kia Stinger. Consumers can get the base trim and still have an amazing vehicle on their hands. Maybe that’s why WardsAuto named the Stinger on their “10 Best Interiors” list. No matter the Kia Stinger, consumers can expect one of the best interior cabins for a sports car.

WardsAuto is an organization that covers the latest news, data, and analysis for today’s auto industry. To compile the “10 Best Interiors” list, 40 car interiors were evaluated by WardsAuto editors and judges. To make it to the finals, only the car interiors that were all new or significantly improved for the new model year went on to the final round. The changes jurors looked for included simple things like various color choices, aesthetics like interior accents and stitching, the style and comfort of the interior itself, and convenience features, and the 2018 Kia Stinger has all of that and more.

Miami Lakes Kia Niro PHEV First Hybrid

Kia Niro PHEV is a Great First-Time Alternative Fuel Vehicle

Miami Lakes Kia Niro PHEV First Hybrid

Thinking of going green, but not sure how you feel about losing the ease of a normal vehicle with an internal combustion engine? Vehicles powered by gasoline have been around since the automotive industry began – it’s the kind of vehicle we know and we’re used to. So when it comes to going green, some consumers are a little shocked with the changes that come along with driving an alternative fuel vehicle. A typical hybrid may be a good transition, but it doesn’t do much for the environment. Plus, if going green, why not get some additional benefits than a pat on the shoulder? Check out the new Kia Niro PHEV if you are ready to take the plunge.

Charging

Because alternative fuel vehicles are still somewhat new to the general public, many people don’t understand hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles all that much. Plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle recharging are actually pretty easy to understand. Just like plugging in an appliance, the majority of the work is plugging in one’s car and navigating a menu to turn on the charger – not much different from pumping gas at the fuel station. Plus, in Miami, Florida, charging stations are popping up plenty.

When it comes to charging up the Kia Niro PHEV, consumers can install a 240V power outlet at their home to recharge the plug-in hybrid in just two and a half hours. If they wish to forego the installation, a normal 120V household electrical outlet (the same used for a phone charger) can be plugged in to charge the Niro PHEV overnight. Then there’s of course public charging stations as noted above.
