Kia Motors is sure enjoying the spotlight in the auto industry lately. Ever since they released the 2018 Kia Niro hybrid crossover, everyone’s been turned on their heads. Chrysler may have come out with the world’s first hybrid minivan, but a hybrid crossover? And coming soon is the Kia Telluride, a hybrid SUV, and the Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid was recently added to the Kia Motors lineup. After the release of the Niro, Kia released the 2018 Kia Stinger, a wonderful sports sedan that drives, looks, and feels like a muscle car. Even with all these new advancements and developments, U.S. News and World Report highlighted the fact that Kia Motors has always had great products, honoring the Kia Soul and Sorento with a special award.
The U.S. News and World Report consistently compares cars based on their safety, reliability, and a consensus of industry experts’ opinions, along with the car’s value. To measure such value, U.S. News and World Report also looks at a combination of a vehicle’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published. Following this, cars are ranked in fourteen categories for quality and value in the automotive industry. For the second year in a row, the Kia Soul was honored with the Best Compact Car for the Money award and Kia Sorento claimed the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money award.
“Winning for the second consecutive year, both the Kia Soul and Sorento continue to be class leaders when it comes to offering buyers a smart balance of quality features, utility, comfort and performance, as well as long-term value.” – Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor, U.S. News & World Report.

Kia has been introducing some futuristic concepts lately. Namely, the Kia Telluride concept. Take a look at the interior. It definitely has a sci-fi look and feel to it. Like Mitsubishi, Kia has also been working on its own AI technology, and we could see vehicles with AI assistants as soon as 2019 if Kia Motors has anything to say about it.
We posted this video a few times on the Miami Lakes Automall blog, but so that no one has to go looking through the archives, here’s the concept movie Mitsubishi put out for its literal smart car with a virtual assistant.
Back in August, word was that Kia and Hyundai, being that the two are a part of the Hyundai Motor Group, struck a deal with a company called Kakao. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, don’t worry, we’ll recap. Back when the contract between Kakao, Kia, and Hyundai was signed, we talked a little about the business. Kakao, most well-known for its messaging app, Kakao Talk,” is a business built around communication, media and content, entertainment, and transportation. Constantly improving their product lineup with state-of-the-art technology, they’re currently working on AI technology that will be integrated in select cars by Hyundai and Kia.
Deciding on your next car is a big decision, so you shouldn’t rush the car buying process. It is imperative to do plenty of research before getting into a car contract. There are several different sources of information that shoppers should use to get informed about a prospective new car — online research of car specs and professional reviews, word of mouth, and personal testing like a test drive.
Before you can begin your research, the first thing to determine is your budget, car style, and the features that are “must haves.” Once you have these things narrowed down, it will be easier to figure out some other decisions like are you paying cash, financing or leasing. Are you considering a new car or a used car? What is best and what fits your budget?
After this you can begin online research. Focus on a few similar cars that fit your needs, and do the research to find out which works for you for you. A few of the important factors to find out are price, fuel economy, engine type, tech features, car insurance estimates, warranties, and safety ratings. (more…)
Earlier this year, Kia decided to spearhead the competition from other auto manufacturers by releasing several eco-friendly cars. With more companies thinking “green,” the variety of eco-friendly cars on the roads today is pretty diverse, however Kia offers a lot of diversity in its collection of eco-friendly vehicles. Today, we’re taking a look at three of Kia’s eco cars: the 2016 Kia Soul EV, the 2017 Kia Niro, and the 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid.
Let’s first talk about the Kia Optima Hybrid. The fuel economy is definitely the shining characteristic of this car, sitting at 36/40 city/highway MPG. Described as a car that mixes style and eco-dynamics, if its classy exterior is anything to go by, color us impressed. The Kia Optima Hybrid has the signature “Tiger Nose” look, designed with aerodynamics in mind; given that its side airflow vent allows for air to pass freely through the front bumper and reduces drag, it certainly accomplishes that goal.
Every year, the Initial Quality Study by J.D. Power and Associates sends out thousands of surveys to vehicle owners and lessees of the current model year vehicles across 33 brands. This year, Kia received the lowest number of problems making it the highest ranked brand on the 2016 Initial Quality Study by J.D. Power.
The Initial Quality Study has been around for 30 years, and only once before 2016 has a non-luxury brand been ranked the highest. The study is designed to evaluate a vehicle’s quality 90 days after ownership, and along with Kia, 21 out of the 33 brands had shown a 6% improvement of quality in comparison to their previous year.
At the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Kia unveiled its upcoming GT4 Stinger concept and sports cars fans went nuts. Here we are in 2016 however and some people are perplexed as to why this beautiful vehicle isn’t on the roads already. As far as small, affordable, rear-drive sports cars go, the Kia GT4 Stinger was aimed to match those of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. So where did it go?
