Kia Motors to Release Mid-Cycle Refresh for 2021 Kia Stinger

When the Kia Stinger sports car first came out, it truly seemed like the sports car of the decade. At the time, it was unheard of for Kia Motors to design a sports car, let alone a sports car with as much performance as the Kia Stinger. Reportedly able to surpass high-end and pricey sports car, the Kia Stinger GT is faster than the likes of Porsche Panamera, and more affordable! Having won many awards, the Kia Stinger was doing really well for itself. During the first round of deliveries, dealerships couldn’t keep units on the lot. Then suddenly, sales paused, and it wasn’t due to the current pandemic. Although only a few years old, the Kia Stinger may be set for a mid-cycle refresh in 2021.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps all those interested in a sports car from Kia Motors already purchased their Stinger – or, not enough sports car consumers thought the Kia Stinger delivered. The new motto by the automaker is to build “cars that drive as well as they look”. The Kia Stinger wowed consumers and media when it first arrived, catching the eye of anyone interested in high-performance. That feature, although able to outperform more expensive models, may still need a bit of a push, and that’s where the mid-cycle refresh comes in.

Kia Motors Announces Two New Upcoming Electrified Vehicles

miami-lakes-kia-futuron-concept-ev

Kia Motors is always an automaker that we like hearing about. Always working on some new car technology or an interesting concept, Kia Motors is one brand that keeps moving forward. Most recently, the automaker confirmed that it will be launching two completely new electrified vehicles within the next few years, and both will definitely have a U.S. launch. That’s exciting, seeing as how vehicles manufactured overseas don’t always make it stateside. Moreover, one of the vehicles is a concept we’ve been keeping tabs on, and it seems that a driving range has finally been released, along with other details that demonstrate Kia Motors already working towards fulfilling their automaker’s “Plan S” Strategy.

The Plan S Strategy was launched earlier this year (2020), and highlighted multiple goals for Kia Motors over the next 5 years. A two-track plan, the focus is split between electric vehicles (EVs) and self-driving vehicle technology; and developing personal mobility solutions for consumers. The former begins with 11 new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025, with the first dedicated EV to be launched in 2021. With the recent announcement from Kia Motors, we now know that two EVs are set for launch, with the first being a plug-in hybrid, possibly a crossover. The second is the Kia Futuron.

Kia Motors Sees Rise in EV Sales

miami-lakes-kia-ev-sales-2020-q1

With all of Florida still under a stay-at-home order, and with an uncertainty of how long it will last, eventually, people are going to want to be able to go out or visit family and friends. With financial hardships and many industries seeing an all-time low, getting around won’t be easy. Being able to travel long distances on a budget will be something of great value. Kia Motors is one automaker seeing this fact already becoming common overseas, with European sales for new hybrid and electric vehicles going strong in the first quarter of 2020, despite global crisis and disruption caused by the spread of the coronavirus.

“The first three months of 2020 have been challenging for the whole industry due to social distancing and lockdown measures adopted across many European markets…However, we have seen growing sales for Kia’s range of hybrid and electric cars – every electrified model line we sell in Europe has seen sales growth this quarter. The arrival of new plug-in hybrid models, improved availability of EVs, and an expanded Ceed model family has also boosted our sales and market share this quarter.” – Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motors Europe

All-in-all, during the first quarter of 2020, Kia’s market share has grown from 3.2 percent in the first quarter of 2019 to an all-time high of 3.7 percent. New electrified Kia models – hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles – now account for nearly a fifth of all new Kia sales in Europe. With an automaker that claims to go all-electric in the coming years, Kia Motors already has a growing lineup of alternative fuel vehicles, and electric vehicles aren’t the last stop.

The latest news about Kia Motors becoming an all-electric automaker has seemed to die down, but not before the automaker unveiled the all-electric Futuron concept in late 2019. Set to be the first all-electric vehicle in the lineup that didn’t have an internal combustion engine model before it, the Kia Futuron may be a few years away, but not as far off as another alternative fuel source slowly gaining more attention – hydrogen fuel cells. This year, Kia Motors was originally supposed to release its first hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, following the footsteps of Hyundai Motor, in charge of the Hyundai Motor Group that Kia Motors is a part of.

Hydrogen fuel cells are definitely less practical than plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and all-electric vehicles, but with the growing interest and popularity of alternative fuel vehicles worldwide, Kia Motors is already ahead of the competition with its wide selection of hybrid, PHEV, and electric vehicles (EVs). Making up the 2020 Kia Motors alternative fuel lineup are the Kia Niro, Kia Niro Plug-in, Kia Niro EV, Kia Optima Hybrid, and the Kia Optima Plug-in. With this wide selection between hybrid sedans and a hybrid crossover, there’s a little something for all kinds of consumers.

Are you in the market for a hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle? Maybe going green with an all-electric? Contact us at Miami Lakes Automall and ask about how we can help you shop for a new Kia Motors vehicle during a time of social distancing.

Kia Motors Expands Community Efforts for Healthcare and Consumers

miami-lakes-kia-community-consumer-programs

All over the world, industries are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Manufacturing plants have either shut down or been paused for production, which has made many automakers anxious, but a handful of automakers and groups have only changed their focus to producing the necessary equipment for healthcare workers and first responders, currently on the front line for the battle against the Coronavirus. In just the first few weeks, a nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) became quickly apparent, and Kia Motors is joining the cause in an effort to always “Give It Everything”.

“Giving back in meaningful ways is a key component of Kia Motors’ ‘Give It Everything’ strategy in the U.S. Our Accelerate the Good program identifies areas where Kia can make the biggest impact and we are proud to lend our manufacturing capabilities and talents to produce face shields that will protect America’s courageous healthcare workers…Kia is driven by an unstoppable spirit to take on and overcome challenges, and the world-class team members at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia have come together in support of those who are giving it everything on the frontlines of the pandemic.” – Sean Yoon, president and CEO, Kia Motors North America

The production of face shields, or masks, by Kia Motors has already begun at its manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia, and donations will be first delivered Georgia facilities, followed by Alabama, New York, and California. With a target capacity of at least 200,000 units a month, the face shields are being manufactured by paid volunteers from Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG), with many safety measures put in place at the plant, including conducting temperature scans, providing face masks and gloves, and staggering work stations. To better assist in this endeavor, Kia Motors has partnered with 3-Dimensional Services Group, a Michigan-based rapid response manufacturer supporting prototype and low volume production applications, to produce materials and components for the production of these face shields.

Yes, it would seem that, according to consumers who are also parents, the Kia Sedona deserves to win the Parents magazine “Best Family Cars of 2020” award, and for the second consecutive year, no doubt.

“Finding the right vehicle for your family can be a challenge since there are so many tech and safety options to consider, but the Sedona makes it easy by starting off at an incredible value so families can opt for more of the desirable features they want…Add Kia’s industry-leading warranty into the equation, and the Sedona becomes even harder for families to pass up – it’s with them for the long haul.” – Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America (KMA)

Just to land on this list, 2020 Best Family Cars award winners are determined via a number of tests. Second, child passenger safety technician is installed in multiple car seats to test their performance. Finally, test drive by an automotive expert evaluates a variety of features of the vehicle, including its performance, braking, steering, technology, and more. There were more than 50 other competitors consisting of parent-tested minivans, SUVs, and sedans, but you can’t deny a winner.

Kia Motors The Great Unknowns Scholarship Opens Second Year of Enrollment

miami-lakes-kia-great-unknown-enrollment-open

For the past few years, Kia Motors has taken a large initiative to give back to the community and made sure we all knew it during the Super Bowl. Unlike many automakers that will likely overpay a celebrity to star in their commercial, driving a vehicle, and talking about how much they like driving it to sell it, Kia Motors takes this time to raise awareness about programs the automaker founded to help the youth. During the 2019 Super Bowl, Kia Motors debuted its “Yards Against Homelessness” Initiative, where the automaker claimed to donate $1,000 for every yard gained during the football game to charity partners Covenant House, Positive Tomorrows, and StandUp For Kids. A year ago, Kia Motors started a scholarship program, the Great Unknown, focused on giving youths a chance to further their education. 2020 marks the second year the scholarship is running, with enrollment now open.

Following the new slogan “Give It Everything”, The Great Unknowns Scholarship program that really give it their all. Recipients of the scholarship will be chosen based on a number of factors, including not only their academic performance, but can also demonstrate how they make a positive impact within their local communities. Kind of a lot to ask, not every high schooler can handle much aside from their studies and maybe an after-school job, but that’s why this scholarship is aimed at students who “Give It Everything” they got.

“An ongoing tenet of Kia’s “Give It Everything” is to give back in meaningful ways, and Kia is proud to support the educational ambitions of America’s youth in the second year of the Great Unknowns Scholarship…The freshman class of scholarship recipients has proven to be extraordinarily bright and talented and we are excited to add to that group and help more young people pursue their academic dreams.” – Russell Wager, director, marketing operations, Kia Motors America Read the rest of this entry >>

Kia Motors Extends Warranties Amidst Stay-at-home Orders for Select Vehicles

miami-lakes-kia-2019

If not in the know, Kia Motors has some of the best and longest-lasting automotive warranties in the industry. What is the Kia Promise? Simply put, the Kia Motors Corporation is launching a global warranty extension program for its vehicles.
