2020 Kia Telluride Wins Automobile All-Stars Award

miami-lakes-2020-kia-telluride-automobile-all-stars

Is there anyone out there that doesn’t know how great the 2020 Kia Telluride SUV is by now? The largest SUV in the Kia Motors lineup, the Telluride wins awards every month it seems. Since its release in 2019, the Kia Telluride has become known as a hot SUV to own. Most recently in February 2020, the Kia Telluride won the 2020 MAMA Family Vehicle Award from the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA). Moreover, the 2020 Kia Telluride is best known for winning the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards, getting in the good graces of MotorTrend, Car and Driver, and winning a category in the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year Awards. Even with the troubled times, the Kia Telluride will continue to be a winner, with its latest from leading publication Automobile.

“The fact the 2020 Kia Telluride impressed our test drivers so much is a testament to Kia’s execution of style, practicality and value…In an Automobile All-Stars field of contenders that included some of the best sports cars, luxury GTs and supercars on the market today, this three-row SUV still stood out easily as one of the best new cars of the year. Whether you’re talking about its exterior appearance, interior appointments, or the experience from behind the wheel or in one of the cushy passenger seats, it’s a winner in every way.” – Automobile editor-in-chief Mac Morrison

Another well-known publication in the world of automobiles, Automobile is an American automobile magazine, but has a twist. Unlike many other auto magazines and publications that post objective reviews about new vehicles, usually put through a series of instrumented tests to obtain all of their technical data, Automobile is written as if the consumers were behind the publication. Reviews of vehicles are subjective reports of how the cars operated in their naturally intended, real world environment, i.e. if a truck is meant to handle off-road conditions, then it’s going to be tested on some rocky roads.

New Info on the 2020 Kia Niro EV

miami-lakes-2020-kia-niro-ev

The Kia Niro EV took awhile to come to the North American market, but since the Niro EV came to the US, it’s continued to win awards. Popular Mechanics was quick to name the 2019 Kia Niro EV the Car of the Year, and during its initial overseas release, consumer magazine and website What Car? awarded the Kia Niro EV with the “Car of the Year Award”, making the Niro EV the first Korean car to win the prestigious award. Here we are in 2020, things are crazy, but the Kia Niro EV is still the green car to buy, even with its 2020 price hike.

Why the price hike? It’s unclear. Perhaps Kia Motors is worried COVID-19 will affect production and costs and wants to tip the scales a bit. Perhaps demand for alternative fuel vehicles and hybrids have grown over the years in the U.S. Hybrid vehicles and EVs are certainly more popular overseas, but regardless, the 2020 Kia Niro EV sees a price increase of $590 from the 2019 starting MSRP of $38,500 (plus destination fee). Although not yet available, this brings the starting MSRP for the 2020 Kia Niro EV to $39,090.

Kia Motors Releases Info About Next-Gen 2021 Kia Sorento Hybrid

miami-lakes-all-new-kia-sorento

With the current state of the world being slowly taken over by COVID-19 panic, businesses in every industry are starting to feel the effects. Automakers are stressing over how the pandemic will affect sales, production, and the workers of their factories. Auto shows, many of which we look forward to every year, have been cancelled. To make up for this, some automakers are debuting future vehicles ahead of time, like Kia Motors debuting the new 2021 Kia Sorento in late February/early March. Going into a new generation, this will also be the first-generation model of a Kia Sorento hybrid. We know how well Kia Motors can take a regular vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine and turn it into a hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), or a fully electric vehicle. Just look at the Kia Optima and Kia Niro and how well Kia Motors transformed these vehicles into electric counterparts.

2021 Kia Sorento and Hybrid Differences

We all know the most obvious differences between a normal vehicle and a hybrid vehicle. The former is powered purely by an internal combustion engine, gasoline and air, to move the car forward. Assuming the 2021 Kia Sorento keeps the same powertrain options, the standard gasoline-powered SUV will come equipped with either a 2.4-liter DOHC I-4 engine able to generate 185 horsepower or an available 290hp V6 engine. The former comes with an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission, and the latter comes with an electronically controlled eight-speed automatic transmission. Things change a bit for the hybrid variant.

Kia Stinger – Sports Car of the Decade?

miami-lakes-2020-kia-stinger

The first Kia Stinger sports car from Kia Motors all started with a mysterious promotional series called The Curve Ahead. It was a teaser for the unveiling of the Kia Stinger at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Coming with a new tagline by the automaker, “Cars that drive as well as they look,” the 2018 Kia Stinger embodied that new method with killer style and even better driving prowess. During its first year of release, the Kia Stinger won many awards, there were Kia Stinger Limited Editions, and with a GT option that was fast and affordable, the Kia Stinger was faster than many competitors for double the price. Really, the Kia Stinger GT is faster and more affordable than the Porsche Panamera, Audi A7, Jaguar F-Type, and others. Released a little over two years before 2020, with all the Kia Stinger has going for it, could we call it the sports car of the decade?

Don’t get lost in those crosshairs of muscle cars and sports cars. We’re not talking the Dodge Challenger, or the Ford Mustang, or a Chevrolet Corvette. Although in the sports car segment, many would call them muscle cars for the high-horsepower powertrain options and all the tech and components one can use to modify and improve their vehicle’s performance. Of course, you can modify the Kia Stinger, like the modified 2018 Kia Stinger at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, but straight from the factory, and most would liken the Kia Stinger to a sports car.

2021 Kia Optima VS 2020 Hyundai Sonata

miami-lakes-kia-optima-2021-vs-2020-kia-sonata

The new 2021 Kia Optima is looking really good – like really good. So good, that we may not even recognize it under its new name, the Kia K5. It’s not definite just yet, but because the K5 moniker is so popular in Kia Motors hometown in Korea, Kia Motors America is thinking of adopting the name for U.S. shores, but we’re not sold on the idea. Regardless, with the 2021 Kia Optima getting a lot of upgrades, it has many rivals to compete with. One of these comes from its own automobile group, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata. Too bad Kia Motors is always wiping the floor with its competitors.

Performance

Some consumers out there may be smug and think we’re eating our words right now with the 2021 Kia Optima coming with a 177hp 1.6-liter Turbocharged engine, optimized with gasoline direct injection (GDI) and Kia’s new Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology. However, on the Kia Optima GT trim, a 2.5-liter Turbo-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine capable of generating 286 horsepower is also available.

Kia Motors Signs New Contract with Zuora for Car Connectivity

miami-lakes-kia-motors-zuora-connected-cars

Cloud computing and cloud storage is nothing new in the modern world. After Google Drive made it popular with the ability to never lose your data (although who said that’s a guarantee?) by storing it on the cloud. Although it’s not so much that data is just floating around on the interwebs as much as it is all stored on a large server that specific people have access to. Cloud-based subscription services have been popping up, and eventually, this kind of technology makes its way into the automotive industry. For instance, Zuora, Inc, the leading cloud-based subscription management platform provider, recently signed a deal with Kia Motors America to use the Zuora® platform in the launch of its new UVO Link subscription service.

What is UVO Link? By subscribing to this service, consumers get access to a collection of connected vehicle services and features through Kia Access with the UVO link app, an UVO Agent for Google Assistant, an UVO skill for Amazon Alexa, and a Kia Owner website. That’s definitely one connected vehicle! Car, home, and phone talking to one another, powered by the Zuora platform. Like any service, it will collect data from consumers over time to perform better, and as the system develops, more connectivity innovations from Kia can also be launched through Zuora.

Kia Debuts New 2021 Kia Sorento Ahead of Time

miami-lakes-2021-kia-sorento-front

The 2021 Kia Sorento should be a pretty nice SUV. We’ve only seen leaks of the new Kia Sorento thus far, but as luck would have it – well, maybe bad luck depending on where you are in the world, Kia Motors has decided to reveal the very first images of the next-generation Sorento ahead of time. Why? The original debut was set for the 2020 Geneva international Show, but sadly, the motor show has been cancelled for this year (2020) due to the huge Corona Virus outbreak. If you thought it was contained, think again, because there have already been several occasions of the virus affecting people in the U.S., so Switzerland isn’t taking any chances. But never mind that, we have new photos of the next-generation Kia Sorento to gush over.

It may not be much – the Sorento looks similar to past productions with the signature tiger-nose grille still and is a little on the boxy side with new LED headlights and some chrome detail. Still, the Kia Sorento tends to lean towards luxury, and inside, we learned there could be a large infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard, along with plenty of room to stretch out in the cabin. The 2021 next-gen Kia Sorento is said to be the concept of “refined boldness”, and from what we can see, it delivers.

Robust – tough-looking -these are adjectives that describe the new Kia Sorento. Maintaining the look of generations past, the Sorento has newfound refinement and elegance that pushes it beyond the everyday SUV. This has been sculpted with contemporary geometric details, a swept-back look, and elongated proportions that make the Sorento SUV look more confident, more mature, and more desirable than ever. To start, the front fascia has changed a bit, with new ‘tiger eye’ LED daytime running lights lending to the recent design taking over Kia Motors vehicles, the new “tiger face”.

Enough about the exterior. Inside, the cabin has also gotten a little upscale with the new design, introducing premium-grade materials and cutting-edge technology. Blending metallic trims, leather upholstery, and embossed wood-effect surfaces, the interior cabin is a mix of the finer things of olden times while still keeping the Sorento in the present with technologies to enhance connectivity, driver assistance, and infotainment. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system incorporating audio-visual navigation and Bose speakers (a first for Kia Motors) is there to play tunes or help drivers find their way around unfamiliar streets. With a new 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster that provides crystal-clear information, the next-generation 2021 Kia Sorento is without a doubt becoming the most high-tech vehicle Kia has ever created.

The Kia Motors SUV lineup is shaping up to be pretty nice. We have the new 2021 Kia Seltos coming up, Stonic (overseas), Sportage, and Telluride SUVs, and the recent Kia Sorento is a product of collaboration amongst Kia Motors global design networks in Korea, Europe, and North America. Based on an all-new platform, the next-gen 2021 Kia Sorento midsize SUV is at the top of the list for space, practicality, efficiency, and quality. There is no yet set release date, but it shouldn’t be long. Follow along with all Kia Motors news when you follow Miami Lakes Kia on social media.
