Six Kia Motors Vehicles Receive a TSP from the IIHS

miami-lakes-2020-kia-telluride-iihs

Kia Motors is one automaker that constantly comes out with vehicles that aren’t only stylish but also safe. In 2018, it quickly became one of the safest car brands in America when more than eight vehicles in the Kia Motors lineup received a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Every vehicle to come from Kia Motors since 2018 has also received an award for safety from the IIHS, such as the 2019 Kia Stinger (Top Safety Pick+), the 2020 Kia Soul Receives (Top Safety Pick+) the Kia Telluride (Top Safety Pick +), and the Kia Seltos in Australia, based on Aussie specs, with a 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). For the 2020 model year, we have a bit of an echo, because six Kia Motors vehicles just received Top Safety Pick Ratings from the IIHS.

This time around, the 2020 Telluride, Sorento, Sportage, Soul, Stinger and Forte received a 2020 Top Safety Pick rating. Of course, the IIHS has a special way of testing each vehicle to give each a safety rating, and most of the time, a safety award can come down to an option on the vehicle that consumers wouldn’t get standard, or not available in every trim. In the case of these Kia Motors vehicles, that difference is whether or not the vehicle is equipped with front crash prevention and specific headlights. A typical line that most vehicles don’t cross, with only high-end trims getting advanced safety features these days.

2020 Kia Telluride Named on Autotrader’s Best Interiors Under $50k List

miami-lakes-kia-telluride-interior-autotrader-best-interior

Does the name “Autotrader” ring any bells? It should, with the current Vikings commercials airing. Two Vikings are comparing a price they paid for a sled, and then another appears in a truck or SUV and announces that they “should’ve gone with Autotrader”, as well as a nod to Kelley Blue Book. Having been in the business of the automotive industry for more than 20 years, Autotrader is like many organizations that provide consumers with trustworthy information and reviews about vehicles to buy and/or sell. Like other review sites, Autotrader also puts together “Best of” lists for consumers looking for something specific, like a really nice interior. Recently, Autotrader put together the best interiors for consumers that have a little extra money to spend, because the 2020 Kia Telluride won a 2020 Autotrader 10 Best Car Interiors Under $50,000 award.

Kia Motors and Hyundai Form New Partnership with Canoo

miami-lakes-kia-hyundai-canoo-all-electric

Kia Motors has a lot going for it in terms of its product lineup and developing technology. A part of the Hyundai Motors Group, whatever automotive endeavors Hyundai becomes involved in, Kia Motors is right there with them. It’s kind of like a competitive partnership, and it’s exciting, to say the least whenever a new project takes shape. MoceanLab, the home base for a self-driving carsharing pilot program, is the stepping stone to creating a personal mobility ecosystem. During the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, we saw even more of this with the partnership with Uber to debut an air taxi service. The latest journey for these two automakers is a partnership with Canoo to co-develop an all-new all-electric platform for future electric vehicles.

Could it be the powertrain for the upcoming Kia Futuron concept? Set to be Kia Motors first all-electric vehicle – as in the first vehicle to be released as a stand-alone electric vehicle (EV) and didn’t have an internal combustion engine or hybrid or plug-in hybrid model before it. It’s part of Kia Motors statement to eventually become an all-electric automaker despite their testament to sports cars with GT trims. The Kia Futuron is just a concept for now, and if waiting for the right powertrain, this development with Canoo could be it.

Kia Motors Receive Two Awards from MotorWeek at Chicago Auto Show

miami-lakes-kia-motorweek-chicago-auto-show

Lately, it seems all automotive news is circling around the 2020 Kia Telluride, and who could blame it? The 2020 Kia Telluride is not only the largest SUV in the Kia Motors lineup, but it’s also won many awards since its release. By the end of 2019, the Kia Telluride won the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards, named the 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year from North American Car of the Year (NACTOY); MotorTrend SUV of the Year; and on a Car and Driver 10 Best list. Recently, it won, the MAMA “Family Vehicle of the Year” award. With all this news, some may have forgotten the hybrid crossover that surprised millions when it came out – yeah, it started the Kia Niro lineup (gas, hybrid, and electric). MotorWeek hasn’t forgotten though, because the Kia Niro and the Kia Telluride won during the 2019 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards.

The 2020 Chicago Auto Show came and went over a single weekend, with reporters and the press getting behind closed doors earlier on in the week. Although a single weekend isn’t a lot of time, it was a great chance for many automakers to show off their latest concepts and updated vehicles. Kia Motors was there to show off the new 2020 Kia Cadenza, and boy does it look amazing. During the 2020 Chicago Auto Show MotorWeek was also there to run its awards show, and the Kia Niro won in the “Best Eco-Friendly” category and Kia Telluride won out in the “Best Large Utility” category. Large Utility vehicle? Well, it is getting an off-road trim soon – an off-road Kia Telluride SUV, how nuts is that? Watch out, Jeep®.

Kia Debuts New 2020 Kia Cadenza at Chicago Auto Show

miami-lakes-2020-kia-cadenza-chicago-auto-show

Every year, the Chicago Auto Show takes place in February, and sadly for only a short time – a single weekend. It’s not a lot of time for automakers to shine, but that doesn’t stop them from showing up anyway. Especially when a new concept or feature is introduced, the best way to debut it is at an auto show. Speaking of which, Kia Motors used the 2020 Chicago Auto Show to launch its refreshed 2020 Kia Cadenza premium sedan. With new standard features and enhanced exterior with new styling, the Cadenza is looking better than ever.

Offering a luxurious interior cabin combined with a quiet and composed ride, there have been some significant interior enhancements for 2020, but the improved ergonomics design and addition of standard Kia Drive Wise driver-assist technologies sure make it a pleasant ride. The 2020 Kia Cadenza comes with a new style, starting with a redesigned hood and grille with a deeper vertical waterfall fascia – perhaps Kia Motors isn’t using the new “tiger face” on all of its vehicles. Multi-lens LED headlights with redesigned LED DRL lamps comes standard, along with new LED combination rear taillights, a redesigned lower front fascia with integrated turn signals, and new 18-inch (standard) and 19-inch wheels (available).

2020 Kia Telluride Wins MAMA Award

miami-lakes-kia-telluride-mama-award

The 2020 Kia Telluride SUV may not have delivered all the cool technology the concept promised, but the largest SUV to come from Kia Motors is sure making a name for itself. Having won the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards with NACTOY 2020, Car and Driver 10 Best, and MotorTrend SUV of the Year, the Kia Telluride has a lot to love. Providing consumers with some luxury, and possibly aiming for the high rollers, the range for the Telluride goes from a starting MSRP of $31,690 (plus destination fee) to $40k or more. The 2020 Kia Telluride is perfect for pets and perfect for families, and the Telluride just won the 2020 MAMA Award, but it’s not what you think.

The Midwest Automotive Media Association

The Midwest Automotive Media Association, or MAMA, recently held its 2020 MAMA Family Vehicle of the Year awards. Every year, the Award is chosen by MAMA’s journalist members, with the voting starting all the way back in the spring of that year. To even be eligible for the award, a vehicle must have four doors and be new or significantly updated within a year of the MAMA Spring Rally (takes place in May). During the MAMA Spring Rally and Fall Rally, preliminary voting for the award occurs at both. A vehicle can be entered more than once but will only appear on the ballot once.

2021 Kia Seltos Offers Great Options at a Great Price

miami-lakes-kia-seltos-options

Ever since we learned that the Kia Seltos crossover will be coming to America after its initial success in India and Australia, good news about the 2021 Kia Seltos has been pouring in, like the 5-star safety rating the Kia Seltos received from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) (testing the Australian-spec model, of course). Kia Motors has been highlighting the Seltos, making use of its Super Bowl spot to bring attention to youth homelessness, and just before released an advertisement highlighting their “Yards Against Homelessness” Initiative. Now that we know more about the U.S. specs and what the 2021 Kia Seltos will have to offer, let’s talk about options for the best this crossover can deliver.

Starting off, what we know about the U.S. Kia Seltos is that this model will come in five trim levels with two engine options and the choice of a front- or all-wheel drivetrain. Not bad for its first introduction to American shores, and with a starting MSRP of $21,990 (plus destination fee), consumers get a more than mild set up. The base model comes with the initial 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the standard setup, able to generate 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with some form of UVO that powers Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto compatibility, front-wheel drive, and outfitted with 18-inch wheels.
