Kia Launches New Campaign of Change

miami-lakes-automall-kia-motors-give-it-everything-2020-soul-gt-x-ex-designer-collection

It’s that time of year again. Kia Motors has produced a new marketing campaign for the third generation of the Kia Soul hatchback. With a newly expanding lineup on a global scale, Kia Motors America launched a marketing campaign that builds upon the brand’s new mantra: Give It Everything. Calling the new Kia Soul the “most adaptable version ever of the brand’s iconic urban runabout”, the new campaign is about the automaker’s ability to adapt to change. A lot of this can be clearly seen in their expanding alternative fuel lineup and their claims to become an all-electric automaker. The new campaign shows that they can still deliver to every kind of consumer while moving forward.

“We have taken the Soul to an entirely new level by giving it even more of Kia’s ‘Give It Everything’ credo. With the expanded lineup offering more style, utility, technology, comfort, and adaptability than ever before, it’s a whole new species of Soul…While nearly everything about the Soul is different, this campaign continues the fun and irreverent attitude that turned Soul into an icon over the last decade.” – Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, Kia Motors America

Back when the 2020 Kia Soul was first unveiled at the 2018 LA Auto Show, we heard of two distinct trims that were being added to the lineup. They went by the name of “GT” and “X”, for the respective model lines Kia Motors has been putting together, starting with their new Kia GT Line. The 2020 Soul GT was defined by a sportier exterior featuring black side mirrors, red accents, narrow headlights, and a grille that has a more angular design, leaning into its sports car mystique. The X-line, however, offers a more rugged look with fog lights, a rounded grille, unique wheels, and a roof rail – all hallmarks of an off-road vehicle. We saw both of these in the new marketing campaign, entitled “The New Species of Soul”, but another model line also entered – the EX Designer, part of the new EX Designer Collection Package.

Kia Debuts HabaNiro at 2019 NAIAS

miami-lakes-kia-habaniro-concept1

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the future! It’s the future of automobiles at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, having just started and running from April 19 to April 28, 2019. Many automakers have been tight-lipped before debuting any concepts this year at NAIAS, but Kia Motors was quick to start making noise a week before, and now we know why. Along with the reveal of their Kia Stinger GTS Limited Edition, Kia Motors has debuted a concept that could change the auto industry forever. Of course, like other autonomous vehicle concepts, that could be a long ways away.

The Kia HabaNiro

Although “Niro” is a part of the name as a play on words, Kia Motors isn’t bringing us another rendition of the Kia Niro like they did with the many concepts of the Kia Telluride prior to its release. The Kia Niro EV, also known as the e-Niro in Europe, has already been a success. No, the HabaNiro is its own bread-and-butter design set to be an all-electric Everything Car or ECEV. Use it to commute, as a crossover, get rough like it’s an SUV, go on an adventure, or have a state-of-the-art technology workroom. Yes, that last one hinges on an autonomous vehicle, and the HabaNro concept comes with level-five autonomy.

“We wanted this concept to be comfortable navigating city streets, carving turns on a coastal road and off-roading with confidence to remote wilderness adventure…We imagined a car for everyone and nearly everything. Then, when we saw the finished product, we were blown away by the imagination of the HabaNiro’s creators and its laboratory of technology and we want it in our driveways.” -Tom Kearns, vice president of design for Kia Design Center America (KDCA).

Although the HabaNiro may fall into the compact crossover segment, the design of the vehicle blurs the lines of them all. A four-seat wonder car with butterfly wing doors make for a spectacle, and its  protective metallic grey cladding contrasted by bright “Lava Red” aero panel and roof create a sense of vibrant energy. We swear, we think there’s a spy in the auto industry or automotive designs are starting to mesh together because the below image looks a lot like the Mitsubishi e-Evolution concept.

The new Limited Edition Kia Stinger GTS is one of several special editions released by Kia for the Kia Stinger. Kia Motors Wracking up Awards in April

miami-lakes-kia-stinger-j.d.-power

The first-quarter of 2019 has just passed us and we’re already scratching our way through the rest of the year. One automaker, Kia Motors, shows no sign of slowing down as they continue to over-perform. With the automaker releasing the 2020 Kia Telluride in March 2019, their largest SUV ever, their sales were spearheaded by the Kia Telluride and landed Kia Motors their best first quarter performance for Kia Motors since 2016. It’s not the only vehicle consumers love. The Kia Stinger is still making rounds, winning a first-ever award from J.D. Power, and the Niro PHEV won a Best New Car Award.

Kia Stinger and J.D. Power

When someone says “first-ever”, one could imagine that this means the occasion was so great, it needed its own recognition and celebration. So when a company like J.D. Power holds their first-ever “Engineering Award for the Highest Rated All-New Vehicle”, there’s clearly something important brewing in the auto industry. The J.D. Power Engineering Award for Highest-Rated All-New Vehicle combines the results of two well-known J.D. Power studies that Kia Motors continues to rank highly on. Kia Motors was the leading auto brand for the 2018 Initial Quality Study (IQS), and their Kia Stinger won the Compact Premium Car segment for the 2018 J.D. Power APEAL Study.

How Does the Kia Telluride Compare in the SUV Market?

miami-lakes-automall-kia-telluride-comparison

It’s been a while since we’ve done a comparison, hasn’t it? Our last was in early March, comparing the Kia Stinger and Dodge Charger, both sports cars that really make a good argument that either could be just as much as a four-door family sedan while still delivering a little oomph! The latest vehicle from Kia Motors to hit North America is the 2020 Kia Telluride, the largest SUV in the automaker’s lineup. It also spearheaded sales for Kia Motors in March 2019. With all the fuss, some consumers may wonder if it’s all it’s cracked up to be. So let’s compare it with one of its competitors – the Ford Explorer.

Style

Let’s talk about how each vehicle looks since that’s always the first thing we see. Kia Motors is known for building handsome-looking vehicles, and the 2020 Kia Telluride continues the tradition with a rugged yet elegant style. Given a solid look, it’s boxy with intent to keep it firmly planted on the road, and has a long, broad hood, giving it the widest tiger-nose grille of any Kia vehicle on the market. Bold stacked headlights wrap around the fenders, and a chrome finish makes the front fascia even more prominent for this SUV.

The 2019 Ford Explorer doesn’t really look like one of the automaker’s vehicles, with a strong hint of similarity to the Range Rover SUV for the front fascia. At the same time, the rear fascia is somewhat reminiscent of a yacht. We’re not sure if Ford just couldn’t nail it down or if the Explorer is supposed to have a luxurious upmarket feel than the mainstream of SUVs in the market. If that was the idea, alloy wheels as the standard maybe aren’t the way to go.

Kia Telluride Spearheads Sales for March 2019

miami-lakes-automall-kia-telluride-sales

We’re three months into 2019, and with the first quarter finally over, automakers from all over the globe are releasing their sales numbers for Q1 2019. It seems like many automakers did fairly well so far, and today we’d like to focus on Kia Motors. With two new vehicles being released in the same year, next-generation debuts, and their presentation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, we’re expecting great things. When it comes to sales, the Telluride arrived on American shores, and March 2019 marks the best first quarter performance for Kia Motors since 2016.

Sales Driven by Telluride

This makes complete sense. The Kia Telluride SUV is a vehicle that has been in the spotlight many times. New York Fashion Week 2018 had a surprise when the Kia Telluride showed up, personalized to match Maxwell’s Texas-inspired SS 2019 collection, whilst also showing off its functionality for an adventurous lifestyle. During SEMA 2018, Kia brought a total of five Kia Telluride concepts to demonstrate its ability to suit any lifestyle. With every presentation, the auto market was convinced that the Kia Telluride is more than just the largest SUV by Kia Motors today.

“Demand for the all-new Telluride has exceeded our own high expectations and the increased showroom traffic helped Kia to a strong first quarter close…As we begin the second quarter with a new advertising campaign for the 2020 Soul, we anticipate consumer interest in the Kia brand will continue to grow well into the spring and summer sales period.” – Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America

For March 2019, Kia Motors America reported 55,814 vehicles sold. The all-new Telluride SUV makes up about a tenth of those sales, with 5080 units sold during the vehicle’s first full month of nationwide availability. What a rush! Not only did the Kia Telluride spearhead sales into the best Kia Motors has had during Q1 since 2016, but March sales also marked the month when the automaker surpassed more than 8 million Kia vehicles sold since entering the U.S market in 1994. Bravo, Kia Motors.

Who Said EVs Can’t Perform?

miami-lakes-kia-2020-soul-ev-drive

Who said electric cars (EVs) can’t perform? High-performance vehicles with alternative fuel are quickly becoming the next big thing in the pre-autonomous auto market. Self-driving, autonomous vehicles are also on the horizon, but they may be a little further out. Many automakers have resigned to finally embrace the change of the alternative fuel market, and some are thinking, “Hey, let’s do what we do best.” Still, make high-performance vehicles but make them so that they’re powered by an electric motor. Sound crazy? Kia Motors doesn’t think so.

The 2020 Kia Soul EV debuted at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, and it’s been getting the attention of a newborn baby! Following the pattern of the 2020 Kia Soul, the all-new 2020 Kia Soul EV is a last-generation replacement. With 40-percent more torque, nearly 85-percent more power, and an even longer driving range, the 2020 Kia Soul EV will be setting the stage for future Kia models.

Kia Debuts Two New Concepts Overseas

miami-lakes-kia-seoul-concept-masterpiece

The Seoul Motor Show is well underway, from March 31 to April 7, and although most automakers will be revealing Chinese Auto Market exclusives, not all of them stay there. Mitsubishi Motors eventually brought the Outlander PHEV to American Shores, and the Jeep Commander, thought to be an only overseas vehicle, is being used as the platform for a new crossover from Fiat Chrysler. With Kia Motors becoming an automaker that can steal the spotlight at any auto show, it’s very possible that the vehicles they’re bringing to Seoul won’t stay there. After all, their Imagine by Kia showcase at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show promises a lot of changes going forward.

2019 Seoul Motor Show

During the 2019 Seoul Motor Show, Kia Motors introduced two new concepts that can land in either the SUV or crossover car segment. On the larger end of things, a three-row SUV concept with some off-road style is known as the “Kia Masterpiece”. Built to be a large and rugged SUV, the Kia Masterpiece actually looks like it could be built on the same platform as the Telluride. With its cross-functionality and the multiple versions we’ve seen of the Kia Telluride at auto shows, the Masterpiece may be an example of what one could do with the Telluride here in the states.

For the Motor Show, the Kia Masterpiece features a full LED light-up grille, and the trademark tiger-nose grille is extended outward to complement this. Faux integrated tailpipes can be found in the rear, but the off-road components are the components gaining some interest. Skid plates seem have been equipped all around the undercarriage of the vehicle, the Masterpiece has a larger ride height than most of the Kia Motors crossover/SUV lineup, and there’s a little more space in the wheel wells for suspension travel.
