Miami Lakes Automall 2018 Kia Compact Crossover

Lots of great things are happening for automotive group Kia Motors as of late. The 2020 Kia Soul is set to debut at the 2018 LA Auto Show, the 2019 Kia Forte GT was unveiled to kick off the Kia Motors GT Line, and as per usual, the Kia Stinger won another award for Kia Motors. That’s not the only good news though. The 2018 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is going on right now, the last week of October 2018, first week of November 2018. A lot of new vehicles are planning to show up, but first, recent news.

Digital Ad Campaign Awards

Yeah, who knew car commercials, let alone any kind of commercial, can earn an award. I guess the guys that put together these one-minute films also want their credit and praise – it’s for the little guy! Who delivered the award? It was none other than Red Dot.

Who is Red Dot? Red Dot is an organization recognized as one of the most sought-after seals of quality for good design across the world. They have several awards that are delivered throughout the year, and an award for the “Automotive Brand Contest” was earned by Kia Motors for the Kia Stinger.

Kia Soul To Debut at LA Auto Show

Miami Lakes Automall 2020 Kia Soul LA Auto Show

Isn’t it a little odd we haven’t heard anything about the popular Kia Soul hatchback in awhile? Sure, the Kia Soul has the best of everything, and when it comes to the “Coolest Cars Under $20K”, the Kia Soul makes the list. Maybe it’s because Kia Motors is focused on the new Kia GT Line, starting with the Kia Rio GT, Kia Forte GT, and eventually the Kia Optima GT and Kia Soul GT. The 2019 Kia Soul is out, but Kia Motors clearly has plans to already knock it off its pedestal, because the all-new 2020 Kia Soul and Kia Soul EV are already set to debut during the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Los Angeles Auto Show

Known as “The City of Angels”, Los Angeles is a large auto show held at the Los Angeles Convention Center every year. Endorsed by the Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association, the LA Auto Show usually begins in late November/early December, and lasts for a little over a week. Last year, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL popped up in LA, so we wonder what we’ll see this year, including the new Kia Soul and Kia Soul EV.

Updates to the 2019 Kia Forte

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Forte

With the 2019 Kia Forte coming out soon, and the 2019 Kia Forte GT unveiled in Korea with a possible hatchback variant to match, we think it’s time to take a look at this amazing vehicle from Kia Motors. Available as either a sedan or hatchback, known as the Kia Forte and Kia Forte5, the Kia Forte has taken some design cues from the Kia Stinger for its latest rendition, and with the announcement of a GT line from Kia Motors, well, we’re all looking forward to what could come next from the automaker, starting with the new Forte.

There’s a couple of things one should know about the new 2019 Kia Forte before stepping up to the lot. For one, the third-generation Kia Forte is longer, wider, and taller than its 2018 predecessor. In an effort to catch up with competition, the 2019 Forte is 3.2 inches longer (182.7 inches), 0.8 inches wider, and taller by 0.2 inches – all around, not a whole lot of difference for the body shape. Cargo room has increased a bit from 14.9 cubic-feet to 15.3 cubic-feet, more than the majority of its competitors.

The 2019 Kia Forte will definitely attract compact car buyers, but the new model has been attracting people from midsize sedans and crossovers as of late. It could be because the new Forte is slightly larger in size, it could be because the Forte is getting technology upgrades, a huge selling point for the new generation of car buyers. In the end, the Kia Forte sees the most first-time buyers than the rest of the Kia Motors lineup.

We said technology upgrades, and we mean technology upgrades. The base FE trim of the 2019 Kia Forte comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with dual-zone climate control. Going up a level or two to the LXS and S trims, the LXS comes with more than just new tech – consumers will also find 16-inch alloy wheels and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The Kia Forte S gets an upgrade to 17-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights and taillights, UVO eServices, voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, and tweeter speakers. Some great safety features are lineup standards, including forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.

When it comes to the powertrain for the 2019 Kia Forte, there’s two things to know. For one, the 2019 Kia Forte still offers manual transmission for those that love the feeling of control, a six-speed manual, but also comes with Kia Motors first continuously variable transmission (CVT) system. On top of this, the fuel economy for the Kia Forte has improved, measured out at 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway with manual transmission, and 31/41 mpg with the CVT.

Yes, the 2019 Kia Forte sure is shaping up to be a real winner for Kia Motors. Know where you can find yours? Come to Miami Lakes Automall Kia to find your 2019 Kia Forte today!

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Rio GT Line

Debut of the Kia Rio GT

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Rio GT Line

Back in March 2018, the 2018 Geneva Motor Show took place overseas in Switzerland. During that time, like every year, many automakers showed up with their own new vehicle concepts and debuts. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance showed up to give the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the Renault EZ-GO concept some love. The Hyundai Motor Group was there as well, shining some light on the Hyundai Le Fil Rouge and 2019 Hyundai Kona EV. When we see Hyundai, we know Kia Motors isn’t too far behind. They showed up to debut their new GT lineup, and with the recent news about Kia Motors going GT, it would seem the new lineup is true – starting with the Rio GT.

Earlier, when we learned Kia Motors is turning into a GT brand, we were pretty surprised. After all the good the Kia Stinger is doing for the automaker, we thought performance was the way to go, but that’s not necessarily true. Yes, the Kia Stinger is an award-winning vehicle, but it was also the first sports car Kia designed with a GT trim. This was actually the first test of a GT vehicle, and after all the good reviews, Kia Motors went on to expand their GT lineup with the 2019 Kia Forte GT, debuted in Korea in early October 2018.

Wrap around back to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, because that’s where our next GT model is coming from. Around the time of its debut, the new Kia Rio GT line looked like a sporty hatchback that shared design cues from the Kia Stinger, a fashion sense we’ll be seeing on many Kia Motors vehicles going forward. When introduced on the auto show floor, the Kia Rio GT was sporting a revised Stinger-esque front grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a black boot spoiler.

There was also talk about vehicle autonomy, but every automaker is talking about autonomy these days. Since then, tidbits about the Kia Rio GT lineup have come from news sources and the Kia Motors website. With new style, a turbocharged engine, and smart technology, the GT lineup is going to start a new wave for Kia Motors. We’re just not sure which vehicle will become the new Halo car for the automaker.

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Forte GT Debuts in Korea Featured

Kia Forte GT Unveiled?

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Forte GT Debuts in Korea

Wow, it seems like Kia Motors is nonstop with news about its upcoming vehicles. Everyone is loving the refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento, the new Kia Telluride SUV at Fashion Week 2018 gave us a whole new look at Kia SUV style, and we’ve heard the good news about the Kia Niro EV fuel efficiency, although the numbers keep changing (for the better). Most recently, Kia Motors has decided to break off from the Hyundai Motor Group path of performance and turn Kia Motors into a GT brand. We’ve heard tidbits about GT vehicles and concepts, but news about several GT models is popping up, including the return of the Kia Stinger GT4 concept as an electric-coupe.

Going GT

So, a “GT” car is also known as a “Grand Touring” car. Grand Touring vehicles tend to be an automobile in the style of a coupe, sometimes built for only two people, and designed to operate at high speeds while still keeping passengers comfortable. For instance, the Dodge Challenger GT is a four-passenger two-door coupe with all-wheel drive. The Kia Stinger is starting to lean in this direction.

The Kia Stinger is possibly the first Kia Motors vehicle to get the GT tag, with the Kia Stinger GT, GT1, and GT2 trims. It would also seem like the Stinger started a wave, and not just in terms of looks – we can already see several vehicles from the Kia Motors lineup borrowing the coupe style for future model years. The new craze is turning vehicles into agile GT cars, like the Optima GT, Kia Soul GT, Kia Rio GT, and most notably, the Kia Forte GT. More on the Kia Rio GT next week.

Is Kia Motors Getting a New Halo Car?

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Stinger GT4

Is Kia Motors getting a new Halo car? Well, it’s in the realm of possibility, that’s for sure. With how well the Kia Stinger has done since its debut, winning various awards for Kia Motors, faster and more affordable than high-priced luxury performance cars, heck, the Kia Stinger even matches the Porsche in performance. The Kia Stinger breaks the mold and is continuously the car used by Kia Motors when trying new styles for the current lineup, or with Kia Motors R&D when testing new technologies like the new Kia Motors Dynamic All-wheel Drive (D-AWD) system. And yet, even with the limited editions of the Kia Stinger that Kia Motors released to celebrate its success, the automaker is shying away from performance. Kia Motors is focused on GT cars, and thus, the sporty Stinger may not become the new Halo Car after all.

Halo Cars

Never heard the term before? Or know of the term, just not quite sure what it means? The term “Halo car” probably isn’t in the vocabulary of most people who aren’t familiar with the auto industry. The term “Halo car” often describes a vehicle that is the “figurehead” for a brand. Think, the “Dodge Challenger”, the “Chevrolet Corvette” the “Ford Mustang”, or the “Ram 1500”. All of those models are the Halo car for their brand, and rightfully so. Whether its sales figures or popularity, anyone can talk about either model by name alone, “Challenger” or “Corvette”, and everyone knows what brand that vehicle belongs to.

So why won’t the Kia Stinger become the Halo car for Kia Motors? It has our attention, it’s impossible to mistake for another car. Why not the Stinger?

Stinger GT4

“I don’t know if a performance coupe is something that is [good]…we have [the] Stinger, which is a four-door coupe…I don’t know if a two-door really makes sense. It may make sense if it were an EV, an emotional electric car…We still can be very emotional, but a performance coupe, I’m not sure if it’s [the right thing to do at the time]. If we [made a] Stinger with two doors, it would be easy, but how much market share would it have? That’s the question.” – Kia and Hyundai Design Chief Peter Schreyer.

Schreyer had that to say when speaking with Car Advice about possibly turning the Kia Stinger into a coupe to match up with the likes of the Challenger and the Corvette. Apparently, Schreyer doesn’t think a performance coupe is in the cards…but an electric version of the Stinger? Well, that may open up a whole new venture.

With Kia Motors turning their attention towards GT cars, or automobiles in the style of a coupe, built for two passengers and designed to operate at high speeds while also providing comfort, then a high-performance electric vehicle could be in the works. Hey, if Mitsubishi Motors has plans for a high-performance electric crossover, then other automakers would do well to not find them falling behind. Performance and alternative fuel are becoming all the rage these days.

Besides, if that is true, and an electric Kia Stinger (known as the Stinger GT4) is Kia Motors next move, that isn’t so bad. Just look at all of these stunning shots of the GT4 concept. It’s beautiful.

What do you think of turning the Kia Stinger into an electric coupe? Would you be interested? We sure would. Join us in the discussion on Miami Lakes Kia social media. If you like the Stinger the way it is, then look for your Kia Stinger at Miami Lakes Automall.

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Sorento Rio Reliability Feature

Kia Sorento and Rio Named for Safety and Reliability

Miami Lakes Automall Kia Sorento Rio Reliability

Earlier in 2018, we learned that Kia Motors is quickly becoming the safest car brand in America thanks to studies from U.S. News & World Report, AMCI Global, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS named eight Kia Motors vehicles for Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick Plus, but had some special focus on the 2019 Kia Sorento. There sure is a lot to love about the Kia Sorento, one of which is its reliability, according to U.S. News & World Report. On the topic of reliability, another Kia Motors vehicle has been named by the IIHS – the 2018 Kia Rio.

U.S. News Names 2018 Kia Sorento

Yes, there is a lot of talk surrounding the many reasons to love the 2019 Kia Sorento, but with 2018 coming to a close, there is still a focus on 2018 model year vehicles and plenty of time for awards. U.S. News & World Report is a respected piece of literature, recognized as a leader of news and information across multiple industries, including college, grad school, hospital, mutual fund, and automobiles. With a network that publishes news, opinion, consumer advice, rankings, and analysis on a multitude of subjects, automotive being one of them, U.S. News & World Report is a name many consumers should become familiar with.

Kia Motors is Going GT

Miami Lakes Kia Motors Stinger GT

After the 2018 Kia Stinger, many may think Kia Motors will continue to make performance sports cars. After all, the Kia Stinger is like no other sports car before it, and Kia Motors is testing their new transfer case for all-wheel drive on the Kia Stinger itself. In the end, the Kia Stinger is quickly becoming the breadwinner for Kia Motors, but now it feels like the automaker is throwing a curveball. Kia Motors is officially shutting down their performance sub-brand…but not really.

When the Kia Stinger was first released, it made a statement about Kia Motors’ new path. With many of their upcoming 2019 models, a lot of vehicles seem to even be taking cues from the performance car in terms of exterior style, and even some interior changes here and there. Kia Motors said this was the vehicle that would start it all, making cars that drive as good as they look. So what happened?

Kia Motors has no interest in making vehicles for the race track. Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet have that one on lock down. Owned by the Hyundai Motor Group, many thought Kia Motors would be be playing a game of “follow the leader” and chase Hyundai in the performance segment, but that’s not the way their tune goes. For now, Kia is looking at producing more GT models.

J.D. Power 2018 Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction Study and Kia Motors

Miami Lakes Automall J.D. Power Kia Rio

Woo, Kia Motors is gaining all sorts of recognition these days. Just back in September, J.D. Power named the Kia Stinger and Kia Optima during their 2018 Tech Experience Index Study. Apparently, they’re still collecting and analyzing the results of other studies, because two vehicles from Kia Motors have been named again. This time, J.D. Power is taking a good look at multimedia systems, their quality, and customer satisfaction.

J.D. Power U.S. Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction Study

Bit of a long name there, but this study is another one for the books. The J.D. Power U.S. Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction Study is conducted every year to correctly analyze vehicle owner experiences with the quality, design, and features of their automotive sound system, including the hands-free features we love to use, although they may not always hear us correctly. “No, Alexa. Shut up, Alexa.”

This study allows J.D. Power, and the survey itself, to hone in on audio/multimedia system quality and when things go right, or things go wrong. Automakers must love these studies – in a not so ironic way. It’s a great way for them to learn about their technology and how their consumers feel about them. Plus, it’s a useful tool for consumers who are set on getting top-notch quality and technology when car shopping.
