Want a 2017 Jeep Cherokee – Which Cherokee Trim is for You?

The Jeep Cherokee is an affordable compact crossover/ SUV meant for both fun and families. Depending on the trim, the Cherokee can be the perfect vehicle for the adventurer or the busy parent who needs to drive the kids around town. The 2017 Cherokee lineup consists of eight trims, so how does a consumer know which is the one for them? To help you decide, here’s a quick rundown of each Cherokee trim.

There are a couple of mechanical options for buyers. All Cherokee trims, except for the Cherokee Overland 4×4, are equipped with a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Cherokee Overland 4×4 comes standard with the 3.2-liter V6 engine with electronic start/stop and buyers of other trims can opt for the 3.2L engine or the other available 2.4-Liter I4 PZEV M-Air Engine.

Additionally, all Cherokee trims, except the Cherokee Trailhawk, are available as front-wheel-drive (FWD) or 4×4. The Cherokee Trailhawk is only available with a 4×4 drivetrain and when equipped with a 4×4 drivetrain, the Cherokee is equipped with one of two Jeep’s 4×4 systems.

Jeep Cherokee Sport

The Cherokee Sport is the Cherokee’s base trim and it is equipped with awesome features. Active grille shutters, a full-length floor console, LED daytime running lamps and LED tail lamps are also standard on all Cherokee trims. Other standard features of the Cherokee Sport include cloth seats, 17-inch steel wheels, a 5-inch touchscreen with UConnect 5.0, and a six-speaker system.. Not bad for a “base” model.

As the base model, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee Sport FWD is the most affordable trim and it has a starting MSRP of $23,595. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4×4 starts at $25,595.

Jeep Cherokee Sport Altitude

The Cherokee Sport Altitude is the next level trim and it has some additional convenience features. Upgraded exterior features on the Cherokee Sport Altitude include bi-xenon high intensity discharge headlamps, 18-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels and Firestone all-season tires. The Cherokee Sport Altitude is also equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen, Uconnect 5.0 and cloth seating.

Priced at $24,590, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee Sport Altitude is priced just a bit above the Cherokee Sport.

Jeep Cherokee Latitude

Next up, the Latitude trim. In addition to the features the other two Cherokee Sport and Cherokee Sport Altitude have, Cherokee Latitude features a front passenger fold-flat seat and passenger in-seat cushion storage. In addition to the three 12-volt outlets the Cherokee Latitude also has an additional 115-volt aux power outlet, which is excellent for camping. The Cherokee Latitude rides on upgraded 17-inch aluminum wheels and has premium cloth seats and front-power windows.

The 2017 Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD has a starting MSRP of $25,545 and the Cherokee Latitude 4×4 has a starting MSRP of $27,595.

Jeep Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition

The Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition is great for buyers that love the Jeep brand, like luxury features and want a Jeep that is a little more unique than other Jeeps on the road. The 75th Anniversary Edition trim is a special-edition trim that was introduced in 2016 and it is available on all Jeep models.

This trim has unique features, like a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, bronze accents on the interior and exterior and 75th Anniversary Edition decals and badging. This trim also features 75th Edition cloth and mesh bucket seats and an 8.4-inch touch screen and Uconnect 8.4.

Production of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee 75th Anniversary is limited and the starting MSRP for the FWD model is $28,325 and $30,325 for the 4×4 model.

Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

The Trailhawk was first introduced to the Cherokee lineup in 2014 and since then, Jeep has added Trailhawk trims to a few other model lineups. The Cherokee Trailhawk is a Trail Rated vehicle and it is perfect for those who want an off-road-ready vehicle.

The Cherokee Trailhawk is only available with a 4×4 drivetrain and it is certainly the most rugged Cherokee trim. This Cherokee trim is equipped with off-road features such as a one-inch lift, an upgraded suspension, all-terrain tires, tow hooks and a few different skid plates. Additional Trailhawk features include 54.9 cubic feet of cargo volume, 17-inch wheels, cloth/leather/vinyl seats, a cargo net, and a 7-inch customizable color display instrument cluster.

The 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 4×4 has a starting MSRP of $31,195.

Jeep Cherokee Limited

The Cherokee Limited is a great Jeep for those who need an SUV, love the Jeep brand, but want a crossover with upscale features. The Cherokee Limited has premium features like leather-trimmed bucket seats, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. It is also equipped with a front cargo net, an auto dimming rear mirror, dual-zone temperature control, a premium air filter. The Cherokee Limited is also equipped with a 8.4-inch touch screen and Uconnect 8.4.

The Cherokee Limited FWD has a starting MSRP of $29,495 and $31,495 for the 4×4 model.

Jeep Cherokee High Altitude

The Cherokee High Altitude is a special-edition trim added to the 2017 Cherokee lineup. This trim comes with features to make it stand out from the other Cherokee trims. The Cherokee High Altitude features exterior gloss black accents on the grille and 18-inch aluminum rims, and roof rails. The interior has heated and leather trimmed seats and a heated leather steering wheel, as well as the UConnect 8.4 system with voice command and passive entry with keyless go.

The Jeep Cherokee High Altitude FWD has a starting MSRP of $30,490 and $32,490 for the 4×4 model.

Jeep Cherokee Overland

The Overland trim is as classy and sleek as it can get. The Cherokee Overland is equipped with all of the bells and whistles and drivers and passengers are treated to the ultimate convenience features. This trim comes standard with heated and ventilated premium leather seats with a memory function. The interior also has wood trim and is equipped with Uconnect 8.4 with navigation. The Cherokee Overland also has advanced preventative safety features like blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

The 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland FWD has a starting MSRP of $34,895 and the Overland 4×4 has a starting MSRP of $37,695.
