Solid Axles to Stay Through Next-Gen Jeep Wrangler

March 27th, 2015 by

There is a lot to say about the Jeep Wrangler. For many years, this vehicle has been one of the most popular on the road. In addition to its durability, both inside and out, the Wrangler never fails to disappoint when faced with rugged terrain.

Just the same as every automaker, Jeep has been forced to make some tough decisions over the years. With each decision, the company attempts to do what is best for consumers.

Recently, Jeep announced that the Wrangler will keep its solid axle design through its next generation. This is a big win for Wrangler enthusiasts, as most were hoping the company would make this decision.

What’s the Big Deal?

If you don’t know much about the Jeep Wrangler, you may be wondering why this is such a big deal.

Here is why: its solid axles go a long way in preserving its off-road capabilities. And as you know, this is what the Wrangler is all about. If it doesn’t perform off-road, many people won’t give it the opportunity to prove that it can do so on more traditional surfaces.

While solid axles are typically preferred by off-road drivers, thanks to the durability and handling, they are also heavier. As a result, it drags down fuel economy, something Jeep is trying to fight against in future models.

In late 2013, Jeep first alluded to the fact the Wrangler could be losing its solid axles at some point in the future. This never came to fruition, and now the company has made it clear that things will remain the same through the next generation model.

Drivers can rest easy regarding the use of solid axles in the next generation Wrangler. This model is expected to hit showroom floors sometime in 2017, so you still have a little bit of waiting to do.

For the time being, the famed automaker continues to sell its current generation Wrangler at a fast pace. Miami Jeep dealers, as well as those in other parts of the country, are excited about what 2015 will bring for the entire lineup of vehicles.

In the years to come, the Wrangler is sure to undergo a variety of changes, all of which are meant to improve the overall driving experience. One thing you can expect in the next generation Jeep Wrangler is solid axles. And for brand loyalists, this is a very big deal.
