Different Off-Roading Equipment on the Jeep Wrangler Lineup

Miami Lakes Jeep Wrangler

What’s the most iconic adventurous looking vehicle? Without hesitation most of us will say a Jeep Wrangler. Its metal bars, removable tops and doors, seven-slot grille, round headlights and spare tire on the back of the vehicle, make the Jeep Wrangler unlike any other vehicle and its looked that way for decades.

Not only is the Wrangler adventurous looking, but it is actually built for adventure. Unlike the $122,00 wannabe-Wrangler, the Mercedes G Wagon, the Wrangler has the durability, 4×4 systems and water fording capabilities to truly explore off the beaten path. However, not every Jeep Wrangler is made equally. To offer consumers variety and options, some Wranglers have different equipment than others. Here are some highlights.

Jeep Brand and Jeep Wrangler Continue to Expand Worldwide

The iconic American off-road vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler, is iconic in more countries than America. The off-roading Jeep lineup that we all love, is the perfect vehicle for traversing tough terrains in all countries.

Jeep is located in six of the seven continents and is available in over 75 countries. The newest country to join the Jeep Wrangler family is India. The Indian city of Ahmedabad opened the first Jeep dealership in India in August 2016 and ten more are expected to open this year. Now, Indians can purchase a few different Jeep models including the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

So, why is Jeep in so many countries? You wouldn’t expect an American brand like Jeep to be popular in a place like India or even Japan and China, but a mid-size off-roading 4×4 SUV, like the Jeep Wrangler, is pretty useful in any country around the world. From rock to snow to sand and rain, there are always conditions and people who need a 4X4 that can trek through any condition. Plus, Jeep has a plan.

Michael Manley, Jeep’s CEO, revealed his business plan aimed at increasing the sales of Jeep vehicles, specifically the Jeep Wrangler, internationally. Manley and the FCA’s goal is to increase to 2 million sales worldwide by 2018 and he estimates that 500,000 of the annual sales will come from India and China. Read the rest of this entry >>

New 2017 Jeep Model Highlights

2017 Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot

Aside from the exterior style, the 2017 Jeep Patriot and Compass models have similar specs and very few changes were made to the 2017 models. The Jeep Patriot has a more boxy and rugged look, whereas the Jeep Compass looks similar to the Grand Cherokee, but it is a smaller compact SUV.

Both models are equipped with a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter I-4 World gas engine, that give both models an excellent fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The 2017 Patriot and Compass lineups have been condensed from five trims to two, the Sport and Latitude trims. Since buyers have different needs, the Patriot and Compass models are available in three drivetrain configurations – standard front-wheel drive, available Freedom Drive I or Trail Rated Freedom Drive II 4×4 systems.

2017 Jeep Renegade

For the 2017 model year, all Jeep Renegade trims have received a couple upgrades. The Jeep Renegade is still equipped with a standard 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine and the 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission is also an available option to buyers, but it is standard on the Renegade Trailhawk. That engine configuration makes the Jeep Renegade the most fuel-efficient Jeep available with an average of 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Since the Renegade Dawn of Justice Edition and 75th Anniversary Editions are no longer available in 2017, the Renegade lineup will now only consist of four trims, including the off-road Trail Rated Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. All 2017 Renegade trims will have Keyless Go standard on all trims (late availability) and HID headlamps (late availability) and automatic high-beam headlamps will be an option to buyers. Finally, the Renegade Limited will have standard passive entry.

2017 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited

As one of the most popular models made by Jeep, the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited haven’t received many upgrades or changes for the 2017 model year. The Wrangler is a two-door SUV with seating for four people, and the Wrangler Unlimited is a larger four-door model with seating for up to five people. Read the rest of this entry >>

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock Limited-Edition

The limited-edition Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock is the Jeep that combines luxury and off-road durability. The Jeep Wrangler is already known as a top choice for off-road vehicles and features on the Rubicon Hard Rock take off-roading to an all new level. The Rubicon Hard Rock trim is available on both the Jeep Wrangler, a 2-door soft-top Wrangler, and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, a 4-door hard-top Wrangler.

Engine Specs

The Rubicon Hard Rock comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 24-Valve VVT engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, but a five-speed automatic transmission is also available. The 285-horsepower engine pushes out 260 lb-ft of torque and gets an average of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 21 miles per gallon on the highway.

Off-Road Systems

There are several features and systems on the Rubicon Hard Rock that make the limited-edition Wrangler trim ideal for off-roading, and one of these systems is the 4:1 Rock-Trac Part-Time 4X4 System. This system works by using a 4:1 low-gear ratio to deliver an extreme amount of torque while going up and down intense and sharp inclines like rocks.

4H and neutral positions are two positions that also help make the Jeep Wrangler trim a perfect off-road ride. The 4H position allows for a safe a smooth ride in snowy and icy conditions, and the neutral position allows the Jeep to be easily towed.

The steel bumpers in the front and the back as well as the Next Generation Dana 44 Heavy Duty front axle and rear axle provide additional safety and dependability for off-roading. The steel bumpers protect the Rubicon, while the axles have Tru-lock axle differentials that offer better traction.

Luxury Convenience Features: Interior and Exterior

Though the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock is a rugged off-roading vehicle, it is equipped with several luxury convenience features. The vehicle has an available remote start system, heated power exterior mirrors, variable intermittent windshield wipers. The Rubicon Hard Rock’s unique  exterior features like 17” black rims, and rock rails by mopar, are both attractive and purposeful when off-roading. Read the rest of this entry >>
