The editors of Cars.com examined all SUVs available to the US market. Deliberating on 2023’s Best SUV, Cars.com analyzed the vehicle’s capability, versatility, and value. Of course, the entire Jeep Grand Cherokee family earned the crown of the best of the best.

The limited edition 20th Anniversary Rubicon 4xe and 392 are available for order, with production scheduled to commence at the Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Complex. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary

The limited-edition electrified Rubicon is inspired by the Rubicon 4xe and propelled by a 375-horsepower, 470 lb-ft of torque, plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV). The hybrid powertrain forges 21 miles of all-electric range, 49 MPGe, and a noiseless off-road experience.

January (2023) marked a momentous month for the new Jeep Avenger EV. The off-road capable EV will come to life at the Stellantis Assembly Plant in Tychy, Poland.

Designed with an active lifestyle in mind, the Jeep Avenger offers enthusiasts a compact SUV infused with revolutionary technology. Additionally, the all-electric SUV features an extraordinary 400-volt electric motor forging 154 horsepower, 191 lb-ft of torque, and a new 54 kWh battery. The electric range propels to 342 miles through the city. 

The World received a formal introduction from the Avenger on October 17th (2022) at the Paris Motor Show. Additionally, the future compact SUV attained the honorable mention of the 2023 ‘European Car of the Year’ at the Brussels Motor Show on January 13th (2023). The 2023 Jeep Compass premieres a new engine and, of course, and illustrious, standard four-wheel drive (4×4) for every trim. Pop the hood, and underneath the new SUV is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder engine yields 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, which makes for a more reactive Compass than the 2022 model. 

The new Compass features Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology. In addition, the new powertrain renders lower emissions and a quicker response time when jolting from 0 to 60 mph—the Compass’s peppery step results from the engine being mounted to the cylinder head. Furthermore, thanks to the turbo engine’s twin-scroll, low inertia turbocharger, which includes an electric actuated wastegate, the Jeep SUV offers unprecedented performance on and off the road. 

The 8-speed automatic transmission delivers a peppery response infused with fiery acceleration and silky-smooth shifting. The Compass took a different approach this year because the automatic transmission needed the exact requirements essential to the Trailhawk trim. Therefore, the Trail Rated 4×4 rock-crawl ratio is enabled through a 4.71.1 first gear paired with a 4.398 final drive. Further, the tandem delivers its 20:1 class-leading crawl ratio. 

Regarding fuel economy, the 2023 Jeep Compass comes equipped with the new turbo 2.0-liter 8-speed automatic with the 4×4 powertrain that offers 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. That’s an increase of 2 mpg for the city, highway, and combined compared to the 2022 model. The 2022 Jeep Compass received support from the naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter Tigershank inline-four-cylinder coupled with the 9-speed automatic transmission.
