Jeep Compass and Renegade to Deliver Electric Power

Jeep Recon Off-Road Rocks Mountaiins

The legends of 4×4 capability take momentous stride in a different arena. Jeep is close to completing its plug-in hybrids (PHEV), and the automaker’s ready to pursue its commitment to battery-electric vehicles (BEV). Moreover, the Wrangler-makers will bring some family favorites to the electric segment.

America’s favorite compact SUV, the Jeep Renegade, which came to be in 2014, will transition to the STLA small platform before 2024 ends and propel solely through electric power. Likewise, the Jeep Compass will assume a similar approach, acquiring an STLA medium platform for its all-electric powertrain. Additionally, the Compass will grow in size to take over the compact SUV segment.

So Jeep’s 2030 EV goal is to have an entire lineup full of electric vehicles for its European market and 50 percent for the US. So expect to see petrol engines for a while. However, Stellantis assures that its STLA small vehicle platforms will support battery capacities ranging from 37-82 kWh for a range of 310 miles. Furthermore, the battery will be propelled by an electric motor producing 70kW and mated with a 400V electrical architecture.

The STLA medium frame will hold a battery capacity of 87-104 kWh for a maximum range of up to 430 miles. In addition, Stellantis intends to offer electric motors that forge between 125kW and 180kW or the more affirming 150-330kW electric motors that will support the STLA large architecture.

The first Jeep vehicle to take zero-emission strides will be the 2023 Avenger, falling into the family lineup underneath the Renegade. Further, the Jeep Renegade will make history by being the first to employ the Stellantis group platform instead of the former parent, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

By 2025, Jeep promised to have four of its vehicles actively sustaining the environment; the Avenger, Recon, and Wagoneer S were assigned to tackle that goal. Smart enough to notice there are only three? The fourth vehicle will replace the Jeep Cherokee and utilize the STLA large architecture.

Lime Green Jeep Recon SUV Off-Road

A Look Inside Jeep’s EV Lineup

Lime Green Jeep Recon SUV Off-Road

Jeep and off-road frills have been a tandem since the early 1940s. The American automaker specializes in vehicles built to tackle all terrains, specifically the Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and much more.

Currently, the masters of 4×4 capability continue to roll out voluptuous, off-road-seeking SUVs. In 1987, Chrysler procured Jeep, and the brand seamlessly meshed into the Stellantis marque in 2021.

Jeep is one of the leading automakers changing how enthusiasts embrace electric vehicles as the world transitions into sustainability. Stellantis recently disclosed its electrification plans by revealing Jeep EV ranges in place of the Dare Forward 2030 goal

So heading into 2026, the manufacturers of ruggedness will reveal four new all-electric EVS exclusive to the US and the European market. In addition, the Dare Forward goal insists that Jeep sells 50 percent of its electric vehicles to the US and 100% of its EVs to the European market by 2030.

The legendary off-road automakers will premiere the Wagoneer S first, then the Avenger, the Wrangler 4xe, and the Recon EV. So far, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the Wagoneer S and Recon with a 2024 model year release for both vehicles. Additionally, Jeep executives confirmed that new EVs would work as additions to the lineup, not substitutions for current models. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to unveil on the Wrangler 4xe until its debut in 2025.

Jeep Avenger

The Jeep Avenger exudes bravery and will act accordingly, debuting as the first all-new EV for the European market. Furthermore, the Avenger will premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October (2022).

The Avenger is intoxicating, and the SUV is almost the size of a tequila shot revealing more compact than the Jeep Renegade. However, due to the compact SUV’s size, the Avenger is exclusive solely to Europe. In addition, the compact SUV will feature a well-oriented cabin with enough capacity for passengers and their baggage. Plus, the almighty Avenger will incorporate the latest technology. No technicalities to confirm as of yet, but we expect the compact Jeep to cover 280 miles.

Jeep Wagoneer S

As if the Wagoneer couldn’t get any better than comes the high-performance electric SUV, also known as the Wagoneer S. The “S” distinction is well deserved as Jeep implies that the letter stands for “speed, striking, and sexy.”

In addition, the Jeep Wagoneer S has a 400-mile range goal and may accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 400 seconds. The Wagoneer S’s remarkable capacity exists because of the SUV’s 600-horsepower electric motors. Furthermore, reservations for the premium SUV will commence before production commences in early 2024.

Jeep Recon

The Jeep Recon did not come to play, looking to its iconic sibling, the Wrangler, for inspiration. However, the all-electric SUV holds some powerful attributes that made us fall deeply for the Wrangler, not to mention the Recon traverses without the guilt of emissions.

The automakers of 4×4 capability affirmed that the SUV would feature a Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks, and ferocious off-road tires for standard trail-rated capability. Moreover, Jeep disclosed that Recon will debut in 2023, and enthusiasts may acquire a reservation for the vehicle before production commences in 2024.

Hurricane Twin Turbo Powertrain Earns Wards 10 Best Engines

Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV 4xe Off-Road Sand Mountain

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe’s plug-in hybrid and the Grand Wagoneer’s 3.0-liter Hurricane Twin Turbo I-6 received the 2022 Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems award. The Wards honor marks the 12th consecutive year a Stellantis product rests atop the winning list.

“Our customers are very clear about what they expect from our vehicles and they don’t look to make compromises. The 4xe and Hurricane Twin Turbo powertrains deliver performance that enhances the driving experience on road, off road and when towing. Just as importantly, they reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The strong demand for Jeep brand 4xe PHEVs and the Hurricane Twin Turbo-equipped Grand Wagoneer demonstrates we are delivering what our customers desire.”

Micky Bly, Stellantis senior vice president, global propulsion systems engineering.

The award-winning propulsion systems play an essential role in Stellantis’s Dare Forward 2030 strategy. In addition, the Dare Forward plan places Stellantis at a global carbon footprint reduction of 50% by 2030. Furthermore, the project will allow the multinational automaker a 2038 net carbon zero emissions goal.

A Ninja-Like Propulsion

The award marks the second year in a row that Wards cite the 4xe plug-in hybrid propulsion system. The propulsion system is almost as silent as a whisper and yet resilient enough to deliver impeccable off-road capabilities. Furthermore, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe dominated the top 10 list after some insightful guidance from 2021’s best-selling plug-in hybrid, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe both share the same propulsion system: a 2.0-liter turbocharged 1-4 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 17-kilowatt-hour battery pack. In addition, the four-by-electric Jeep enthusiasts may select three E select modes for the perfect trip. The E Selec modes include Hybrid, Electric, and eSave. Each mode preserves the battery pack for later usage and surges power to the battery pack when the I-4 engine is active. Moreover, the regenerative braking system adds power to the battery back.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe provides 25 miles of all-electric range. In addition, the Jeep hybrid maintains 56 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) from its tech-savvy propulsion system. The propulsion system generates 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque for a maximum tow capacity of 6,000 lbs.

“Spectacular – the back and forth between the internal combustion engine and electrics is imperceptible and the stop/start is ultra smooth. It’s really a bit of an engineering marvel.”

-WardsAuto Judge, Dave Zoia

Hurricane Twin Turbo

The Hurricane Twin Turbo I-6 has made its world premiere and already has an award. What sets the engine apart is that it provides more horsepower and torque with fewer emissions than others that offer a naturally aspirated V8 and a boosted six-cylinder engine.

The engineers at Jeep outdid themselves regarding the inline-6 engine. For instance, the Hurricane’s sophistically equipped with two high-flow turbochargers for a swift response to the throttle inputs. In addition, the plasma transfer arc lines the cylinder bores for a thin low friction surface and the most efficient direct fuel injection. Direct fuel injection delivers more power and heightened fuel performance.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer’s Hurricane Twin Turbo 510 is all-aluminum, yielding 510 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

“As the evident heir apparent to the HEMI® V-8, this is a huge leap forward for Stellantis, providing the basis for full-size truck and SUV propulsion for years to come. Electrified versions are likely to come, giving it even better numbers in the future.”

WardsAuto Judge, Bov Gritzinger
