Off-Road in Style with the New 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe High Altitude

blue jeep grand cherokee 4xe

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid has enough bling bling to take 2 Chainz out of business. The new Grand Cherokee 4xe features gloss black exterior accents with beautifully crafted 21-inch wheels. Check the receipt, and Jeep bills the exterior features as a premium blacked-out appearance.

The Cherokee 4xe’s blacked-out appearance falls under the High Altitude moniker. High Altitude is a name that many Jeep fans associate with the automaker’s customized vehicles or luxurious trims of specific SUVs and Gladiator pickups.

So let’s dig into the “High Altitude” name. Jeep’s Compass, Wrangler, Wrangler 4xe, and Gladiator vehicles all premiere a High Altitude trim. However, the High Altitude trim is not a new addition for the Grand Cherokee 4xe. Yet, the Cherokee 4xe’s trims consist of the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

The High Altitude is merely a package. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe package is available with the Cherokee 4xe’s two highest trims: the Summit 4xe and Summit Reserve 4xe. It’s okay to be confused; let’s unwind this yo-yo.

Toggle between the Grand Cherokee 4xe configurator and then select the Summit or Summit Reserve. From there, Jeep enthusiasts will find the High Altitude Package option. Although the trim(s) full nomenclature reads 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit High Altitude 4xe, no one will bat an eye if an enthusiast says, “2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude 4xe”, just like the automaker does.

Let’s get to the awesome part, that shines like “bling bling.” The High Altitude package takes the well-equipped Grand Cherokee 4xe Summit and Summit Reserve to even greater heights. The High Altitude Package includes 21-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, painted door cladding, gloss black, neutral gray exterior accents, neutral gray badging, and gloss black roof rails.

Don’t worry we didn’t forget about the electric blue, and it’s called Hydro Blue Pearl Coat. The new exterior paint choice is available for the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trims. Furthermore, the Hydro Blue Pearl Coat is available for the two-row Grand Cherokee, three-row Grand Cherokee L, and Grand Cherokee 4xe. The piercing blue exterior is no stranger to the Jeep family as it once shared a romantic history with the Wrangler

The 2022 Grand Cherokee High Altitude 4xe in Hydro Blue broke necks and dropped jaws at the 2022 New York International Auto Show. The new appearance package and exterior paint color will reach the market by June 2022.

The Jeep Performance Parts Headed to the 56th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari

Jeep SUVs desert

Once again, the creators of the legendary 4×4 capability will gather together at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari. Mopar, Jeep, and Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) enrolled the “A-Team” to create a custom line-up comprising 4×4 and 4xe concepts. The vehicles will premiere on the red rock of Moab, Utah, and thousands of 4×4 enthusiasts will gather from April 9-17th, 2022, for trail rides and technical off-roading.

“Easter Jeep Safari is the perfect opportunity for the Jeep brand to push the limits of four-wheel-drive development and, most importantly, to stay connected with our customers. Moab is a rite of passage for many Jeep owners, and to own a Jeep is to truly understand the lifestyle – it’s what the Jeep brand is all about. Whether it’s a Jeep concept or the latest Jeep production vehicle, our customers have the chance to get up close and personal with our passion projects during this event. From a fully capable BEV off-roader to rugged and powerful terrain tacklers, every concept is a true reflection of what our customers tell us they want and give a taste of where the future of the Jeep brand and off-roading can go.”

-Senior Vice President and head of Jeep brand North America, Jim Morrison

For the 56th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep branded and JPP concept vehicles feature a plethora of advanced powertrains. In addition, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto makes a miraculous return as the automaker’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV). The Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 is back and more powerful than ever, with four more Jeep 4xe concepts echoing Jeep’s sentiments of Zero Emission Freedom. Here’s a look into our personal favorite.

Jeep® Bob Concept

The Jeep Bob Concept

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is the beauty of when two worlds collide, and the Bob Concept embodies this vision perfectly. The Jeep Bob Concept is a child-like spin on the trend of “bobbing.” Bobbing (no relation to the apple game) is the long overhang of the pickup truck bed to make the pickup a more spirited off-roader.

Spend some time with the Bob Concept, and its missing features pop right out, such as the four doors and B-Pillars. In addition to the open-air freedom, the Bob Concept sports a perforated hardtop, and a canvas top provides shelter from various elements and natural lighting to seep through.

The exterior shimmers in a multi-finish paint scheme that incorporates mixed gloss and matte finish that screams the best of both worlds. Step inside Jeep Bob and look down. The bed floor is brightly lined with custom trimmed seats adding some heat to the cabin. Additionally, a carbon hood generates a finer airflow to the engine.

Of course, the Jeep Bob Concept’s outside matches the inside, starting with Jeep’s award-winning, turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. For those powerful torque loads the EcoDiesel V6 pairs with the TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission. The V6 engine and transmission pair together to calibrate low RPM shifts to easily maneuver through more turbulent grounds. Moreover, the Bob Concept’s equipped with a Mopar cold-air intake that boosts torque and enhances fuel economy.

“Teaming up with the Jeep brand, there is no better place than the annual Easter Jeep Safari to show off our latest production and custom innovations to true off-road enthusiasts. Unlike any other aftermarket offerings, our factory-tested and factory-backed Jeep Performance Parts are specifically designed and engineered to face the toughest trails in the world.”

-North America Vice President of Mopar Service, Mark Bosnac

Jeep Will Premiere a Brand New Wrangler Magneto Concept

Jeep Wrangler 4x4 SUV in desert

Jeep and Mopar come together again for another superstar concept for the annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. Typically, Jeep and Mopar would release a compilation of concept images leading up to the grand reveal at the red rock event.

This year Jeep and Mopar went with a different approach. The dynamic duo has recently released an image of the concept vehicle every couple of days. The cautionary images work to build anticipation for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari.

The most recent sketch comes from Jeep and reveals a sneak peek at the internet-breaking: Jeep Wrangler Magneto. Additionally, the Jeep appears painted in Surf Blue (B5 Blue). The “Magneto” reads diagonally along the side of the hood, and next to that, the number “2.0.” The 2.0 signifies the second iteration of the Magneto concept.

The original Magneto concept was a fully battery-electric vehicle (BEV). The electric concept was a spirited ninja with unparalleled energy for rock climbing. The innovative team of Jeep, composed of engineers and designers, cultivated a vehicle with impeccable 4×4 capabilities, all while emitting zero emissions. As a result, last year’s Magneto provided a whole new perspective on efficiency, sustainability, and performance both on and off-road.

Inspiration for the Magneto originates from the two-door Wrangler Rubicon. Supporting the custom compact is a custom axial flux electric motor that handles up to 6,000 rpm. Additionally, connected to a 6-speed manual transmission was an e-motor that created a manual-electric powertrain. Lastly, paired to the manual-electric powertrain was a clutch that operated similar to pairing with an internal combustion engine (ICE).

The compact e-motor is similar to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, and the e-motor delivered 273 lb-ft of torque and 285 horsepower. The electrified powertrain propelled the Magneto from 0 to 60 in less than 7 seconds.

Last year’s Magneto revealed an electrifying Bright White color and Surf Blue accents. In addition, the Magneto sported a heavy-duty performance hood, custom decal, commanding full-width forward lighting, and a redesigned rear gate. The concept Jeep sports custom Royal Blue and Black leather seats plus Sapphire-colored straps.

Jeep equipped the concept vehicle with Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) to solidify the Magneto’s captivating appearance. The JPP includes a 2-inch lift kit, 17-inch “Lights Out” Black metallic wheels wrapped in 35-inch mud-terrain tires. The JPP also contained a custom roll cage, Mopar Rock Rails, steel bumpers that include a WARN winch, and a steel belly pan for heightened off-road capabilities.

Although the images above are of last year’s Magneto concept, we have a lot to look forward to at this year’s red rock auto show. This year’s Wrangler concept will serve as a guide to Jeep’s electrified future.
