The 2016 Dodge Journey is Home to a Host of Technology

A lot of crossovers seem to be built around the idea of maximizing capability and passenger space. It seems those are always the two aspects automakers focus on. The 2016 Dodge Journey in Miami is a different story. Thankfully, it's a break from the norm. Not only is it more than capable with a spacious and comfortable interior, but it’s also packed with technology so you can look at the weather forecast or traffic in your area, catch up on sports, hook up to the Wi-Fi hotspot, or enjoy your tunes in concert hall sound.

With all of the technology found in the Dodge Journey, all that’s missing is a time travel device.

Radio 8.4 Nav

The center of attention is the infotainment system with a touchscreen. The Dodge Journey has four possible systems: the Radio 4.3 with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, Radio 4.3 with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Radio 8.4 with an 8.4-inch full-color touchscreen, and Radio 8.4 Nav which has an 8.4-inch high-resolution touchscreen with Navigation by Garmin. Since the last one comes with everything else the others offer and more, it only makes sense to take a look at the Radio 8.4 Nav.

Real-Time Updates

A contender for the most convenient string of features the Radio 8.4 Nav has to offer, is the real-time updates it can provide thanks to SiriusXM Travel Link and SiriusXM Traffic. If you notice the sky getting a little dark, make sure Mother Nature isn’t trying to pull a fast one on you - just take a quick check of the live weather updates across North America and you'll be better able to plan your day. You can check the current weather, on a specific hourly basis, or a more general five-day forecast. Also, you’ll be able to get emergency weather updates for any severe weather that might be moving into your area.

SiriusXM Traffic provides you with reliable and real-time traffic updates, allowing you to take and find the fastest route possible to your destination. It provides up-to-the-minute information on any accidents, road closings, traffic jams, or other traffic-related incidents that might occur on the roads. Just in case you get low on gas from having to take another route around a collision or construction, Travel Link can give you information about fuel station locations and prices, so you can stop at the cheapest one along the way.

On the entertainment side of things, Travel Link also gives you information on movies and sports. You can find the latest movie showtimes at theaters around your area, even showtimes or drive-ins. That way, all you need to do is pay for parking and turn your car off to enjoy the movie. You can stay connected and up to date with info on your favorite sports teams on the way to the movies as well.

These real-time updates provided by SiriusXM Travel Link and Traffic are convenient and somewhat entertaining, but if you are looking for something more practical — rest assured, the navigation system will suit your fancy.

Navigation

On the Radio 8.4 Nav infotainment system, Garmin GPS Navigation is available. This system provides you with award-winning navigation technology. What’s included in award-winning technology like this? Lane Guidance - a feature of the GPS program that guides you into the appropriate lanes and intersections for the corresponding turns and exits. That way, you can drive confidently into unfamiliar territory.

Junction View is another aspect of Garmin GPS Navigation, and will display a realistic 3-D view of signs and intersections along your route. Where Am I? is another feature, and provides a one-touch emergency feature that provides you with longitude and latitude coordinates, the closest address to you, intersections, and the nearest hospitals, police stations, and fuel stations. Even in the event of an emergency, responders will have plenty of landmarks and information they need to find you.

Naturally, you also get the award-winning GPS technology with turn-by-turn directions to your destination.

Entertainment

Looking for some fun technology? Don’t worry - the 2016 Dodge Journey has plenty of that, too. More importantly, it has plenty of ways to hook up your favorite form of entertainment.

Plugged-In

First, a Wi-Fi hotspot provides Available Web by Mopar, which turns the Journey into a mobile hub. It lets you access the internet with your phone, lap top, or tablet with a range of up to 150 feet. In order to keep those devices charged, a 115-volt power outlet with a 150-watt capacity is within easy reach as well. If you don’t have a Bluetooth-capable cellphone to play music wirelessly through the cars infotainment system, then you can plug it in directly into the USB port. With these two options, you are able to control your music via the steering wheel. Or, if you are more old-school, you can hook your device up with an Aux cable.

SiriusXM Satellite Radio

Alternatively, with the Radio 8.4 Nav system, you can access SiriusXM Satellite Radio, with the first year of your subscription included, free of charge. This system comes with over 200 satellite channels of high-definition music to pick from, which means you will have plenty of fun options at your fingertips.

Concert-Hall Sound

Complimenting the various ways you can play your music, the 2016 Dodge Journey comes with an available premium sound system that includes six premium Infinity speakers, a 368-watt amplifier, and one subwoofer. Together, this provides incredible sound. It’s standard on the Journey R/T trim and is available on the Crossroad models.

Rear Seat Video Group I

For the ultimate entertainment experience in the Journey, Rear Seat Video Group I is available. This system provides a second-row 9-inch screen that drops down from the overhead console. With this system, you can watch DVDs or even play video games on it. That way, everyone in the back is entertained. In order to make sure the entertainment stays in the back of the Journey, two wireless headphones and a remote come with this available system.

In the end, the 2016 Dodge Journey is a vehicle that connects you to everything and knows where you are. It has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB ports, Aux cables, an available 8.4-inch high-definition touchscreen, and a 9-inch available rear-seat screen will let you connect and utilize the devices you decide to hook up to it. That way, you have multiple ways for a practical, convenient, (and fun!) technologically advanced ride.
