With Kia Corp going electric, a lot of models are either inspiring all-new electric vehicles, or some in the lineup are spawning their own. This was true for the Kia Niro, leading to the Niro PHEV and Niro EV. Continuing into the 2023 model year, the Niro EV specs were released, along with the features of the model lineup. Check it out below.

Battery and Charging

With only two trims, the EX and EX Premium, changes between the two are thin. Starting with the powertrain, both trims are powered by a 64.8 kWh battery that runs a 150kW (201 horsepower) motor. DC fast-charging capability comes standard, able to be plugged into a Level 3 fast charger and replenish 10-80 percent in less than 45 minutes. For overnight charging, the 11kW onboard charger allows for Level 2 charging capability.

Travel

Upgraded from last model year, the 2023 Kia Niro EV has a total all-electric range of 253 miles. This will most likely affect the EPA MPGE of 123 in the city and 102 on the highway.
