Engine Type

The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, and buyers get the option of either pairing it with a manual or automatic six-speed transmission. Fuel-efficient, this 200-horsepower engine is excellent for those who spend miles commuting or performing light-duty tasks. Upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 with 8-speed automatic transmission.   

There are two compact trucks, and the Colorado is one of the trucks that have a 2.8-liter turbodiesel option. The Duramax diesel engine produces 186 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque and has a six-speed automatic transmission. The turbodiesel has more pulling power than any other compact pickup truck.   

Driving and Handling

The tow-rating for the Colorado is up to 7,700 pounds when outfitted with the optional turbodiesel engine. The four- and six-cylinder gasoline engines that have maximum towing capacities of 3,500 and 7,000 pounds.

Exterior Features

The Colorado features unique edition lineup of trucks with distinctive personality and styling. You can customize it and take it from the darkened aesthetic of the Z71 Midnight Edition to the added undercarriage protection for off-road action in the Trail Runner. The RST LT edition features a dramatic “new face” grille with the Chevrolet nameplate, which is displayed in all capital letters and has a 20-inch low gloss Black wheels, which is the first ever.  

There are unique performance accents and Black badging. Colorado Trail Runner has the same Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires found on the ZR2 vehicle. There’s also ZR2 skid plates, ZR2 rocker protection and the “new face” grille featuring the Chevrolet nameplate which is displayed in all capital letters.   

The Redline Edition sports Red and Black accents for a look that stands out in a crowd. On the exterior, body-color accents and 18-inch Dark Argent Metallic-painted cast-aluminum wheels radiate style. The Custom Special Edition combines the convenience of an office with the class of a boardroom.  

The Base model Colorado comes standard with a 6-foot-2-inch long box. The Crew Cab model has the option of a Long Box or 5-feet-8-inches.


Interior Features


Colorado Extended Cab models have standard seating for two. Crew Cab models have seating for five with dual-folding rear seats. Crew Cab models have massive rear doors, which allows for easier access for rear passengers.  

For children safety, the Colorado comes with two full sets of LATCH anchors on the outboard seats.

Extras, such as available leather-appointed upholstery and heated seats further pamper the passengers. Every model comes with a CornerStep rear bumper, a locking tailgate, and hand grips built into the bed. As an option, the EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate lets you effortlessly open and close the tailgate with one hand.

Every Colorado comes with a touch-screen infotainment system, which has two USB ports, a 7- or 8-inch display, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The interface is user-friendly, and it’s accompanied by an array of controls that are easy to reach from the driver's seat. It’s even easy to use with gloves on.    

Safety Features and Warranty

Standard safety features on Colorado include Teen Driver, a system that allows parents to set limits on speed and audio volume when inexperienced drivers are behind the wheel, and also included is a rearview camera. Available safety features rear parking sensors, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning. During the first 12 months of your 2019 model, Chevrolet covers one oil and oil filter change, DEF tank refills for diesel-equipped models, and tire rotations.  

For every 3 years or 36,000, whichever comes first, any vehicle defect repairs are covered. The powertrain, consisting of your drive systems, transmission/ transaxle, transfer case, engine and emission control systems, has coverage extending to 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
