2018 Ram 1500
The 2018 model year is looking pretty promising for the Ram 1500. This year, there are several different trims and special edition models that make it a light-duty pickup truck for everyone, with many styles and options to configure as needed. Take a closer look at what Ram has to offer when it comes to the 1500 pickup.

Ram trucks are all about options, and with that, there are eleven trims in the 2018 lineup. As noted, some new additions have been added to the lineup, and they include, the 2018 Ram 1500 Sport Hydro Blue, Harvest Edition, and the luxurious Tungsten Limited Edition. If looking for style, durability, or class, the Ram 1500 has it in the lineup.
The Ram 1500 is available in eleven trims, three cab sizes, three truck bed sizes, three engines, and many color options. There are two drivetrain options for the Ram 1500, and most of the trims may come with either, a 4x2 drivetrain or a 4x4 drivetrain for better handling.
Whether looking for passenger space or cargo room, the three cab sizes are regular, quad, and crew. The regular cab is a two-door cab that is able to sit up to three passengers. For people that want their pickup truck to have more seats, the quad cab and crew cab have four doors and are able to seat five or six passengers depending on the configuration of the front seats.
There are three truck bed sizes, but not all are available on every cab. The three sizes are - 5’7”, 6’4”, and 8’. Available on the crew cab is a 5’7” or a 6’4” truck bed; the quad cab can only come with the 5’7” truck bed; and the regular cab is available with a 6’4” or 8’ truck bed. For the most space for passengers and cargo, the crew cab with a 6’4” truck bed is the best configuration.
Available on the base trim, the Tradesman, and many other trims is the popular Pentastar 3.6-liter engine, also available on other vehicles made by FCA brands, such as Dodge, Jeep®, and Chrysler. Able to generate 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque, this engine offers a towing capacity of 4,810 to 7,320 pounds.*
If looking for a light-duty pickup truck with a diesel engine option, then there is only one choice - the Ram 1500. Fuel efficient and durable, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine delivers 240 horsepower, 420 lb-ft of torque, and has a towing capacity between 8,280 to 9,290 pounds.* Rated at 29 mpg on the highway, that’s the best-in-class highway fuel economy for any light duty pickup truck.
5.7-liter HEMI V8
For the most power available, that leaves one option - the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, designed with variable valve timing (VVT) technology for supreme optimization and performance of the engine. Able to generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, this HEMI V8 offers an available towing capacity between 8,510 to 10,620 pounds.*
There are many available and standard features found throughout the 2018 Ram 1500 lineup that make it a much sought after vehicle. For convenient driving at night, automatic headlamps can be found as a standard lineup, whereas amenities that increase driver visibility at all times like exterior heated mirrors are on select trims. For accessibility, several Ram 1500 trims also come with side-steps available.
More interested in carrying cargo? New for 2018 is a remote exterior switch that activates LED lights in the truck bed if looking for something and needing a little extra light. For small items, the optional RamBox Cargo Management system is a perfect choice. When it comes to riding around on the road or in the dirt, wheel options range from 17-inch steel wheels to 20-inch aluminum and chrome wheels.
Interior Features and Technology
Due to the different cab sizes, not all interiors are built alike. Various trims come with a 20/20/40 split bench seat and the rear 60/40 split-folding seats for changing seating arrangements to open up cargo space. For a little extra comfort, features like heated and ventilated front seats are available, along with dual-zone automatic temperature control. Another bit of convenience is the optional add-on of a rear sliding window for ease-of-access to cargo in the truck bed - perfect for those with a truck bed cap.
When it comes to entertainment, a 6-speaker system is the standard with a 5-inch touchscreen and Uconnect 3.0 optional for the base trim, the Tradesman. Most other trims come with the new next-gen Uconnect 4C on an 8.4-inch touchscreen, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. Navigation is an add-on option. Integrated Bluetooth voice command and steering wheel mounted audio controls can be found on select trims, and for the real high-end trims, look for the option of installing a 9 Alpine speaker system.
Special Trims and Safety
Ram 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition
Ram 1500 came out with a few special trims this year, namely the Ram 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition, Harvest Edition, and Hydro Blue Sport. For a life of luxury, the Ram 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition is the choice to make, designed with a premium interior made of “Natura Plus” frost and indigo-colored leather through the cabin and heated and ventilated front seats. The outside is just as classy with Tungsten chrome accents, badging, and a Tungsten chrome grille, air suspension, and a sport hood.
Ram 1500 Harvest Edition
Made for the farmers of America, the Ram 1500 Harvest Edition makes things a little easier with side steps, a spray-in bedliner, a fold-out bumper step and mud flaps, rubber floor mats, skid plates, and tow hooks. Plus, the Uconnect 4.0 system has been equipped with navigation and up-to-the minute weather maps for farmers looking to get the job done before the storm. They can also get the Ram 1500 Harvest Edition in red or blue hues to match their equipment.
Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport
Unlike the other two special editions this year, the Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport is much like the Ram 1500 Black. The color is the major change for this edition, complete with a blue-painted grille, front and rear bumpers, and other body-color exterior touches. To even things out, the hood, grille inserts, and badging are black, and dark-tinted headlight bezels and taillights complete the package. The same blue and black color scheme bleeds into the interior with blue stitched accents on the seats, door panels, steering wheel, instrument panel, center console, and other interior components.
Safety Features and Warranty
The standard safety features are all there, including advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags, traction and stability control systems, a ParkView backup camera, and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system. Advanced optional and available safety features include keyless enter ‘n go, ParkSense front/rear park assist, remote keyless entry with all-secure, and a remote start system.
All new Ram trucks are covered by a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile diesel powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile gas powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for 5 years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through warranty for 5 years and unlimited miles.
