The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander lineup consists of five trims, the ES 2.4, SE 2.4, LE 2.4, SEL 2.4 and GT 3.0 S-AWC. With the exception of the GT 3.0 S-AWC, which comes standard with Super All-Wheel Control (S AWC), the Outlander is available with front-wheel-drive or All-Wheel Control (AWC), which is Mitsubishi’s special all-wheel-drive system.

2.4L 4-Cylinder Engine

The 2018 Outlander ES 2.4, Outlander SE 2.4, Outlander LE 2.4 and Outlander SEL 2.4 come standard with the 2.4-liter MIVEC inline four-cylinder engine that is paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The powertrain is capable of producing 166 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque and it gives the Outlander an average fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

3.0L V6 Engine

The 2018 Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC is equipped with a more powerful engine, and it is a 3.0-liter V6 engine that is paired to a 6-speed electronic automatic transmission. The 3.0L powertrain increases the Outlander’s power to 224 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque. Since the 3.0L engine is more powerful and larger, it has a different fuel economy, which is an average of 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Style



The 2018 Outlander comes standard with three-rows of seats and seating for seven passengers. The vehicle’s seats can easily be reconfigured based on a driver’s needs. For instance, a driver can fold down the vehicle’s second- and third-row seats. When just the vehicle’s third row seats are folded down, there is 34.2 cubic feet of cargo room in the back of the vehicle and when the vehicle’s second- and third-row seats are folded down there is a total of 63.3 cubic feet of room, which is a lot of space.

All passengers will enjoy the Outlander’s comfortable interior. The Outlander ES 2.0, SE 2.0 and LE 2.0 come standard with fabric seating, and all Outlander trims (excluding the 2018 Outlander ES 2.4) come standard with heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2018 Outlander SEL 2.4 and Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC come standard with leather seating, a driver’s seat back pocket, and the Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC comes standard with a heated steering wheel, which is an available option on the Outlander SEL 2.4.

The 2018 Outlander comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen and rearview camera as well as a digital HD radio, Bluetooth wireless technology and remote keyless entry. The Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC comes standard with a 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate speaker system and a multiview camera system, and the other four Outlander trims are equipped with a 6-speaker system.

For the driver’s convenience, the steering wheel is fitted with audio controls and phone controls, and other conveniences for everyone to enjoy are the cargo tie down hooks, three 12-volt accessory outlets so everyone can keep their mobile devices charged, and the underfloor cargo area.

Exterior, Safety + Warranty


The 2018 Outlander has some excellent exterior features that many crossovers only offer as upgrades. The Outlander comes standard with halogen headlights, and the Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC comes standard with LED headlights, which is an available upgrade on the Outlander SEL 2.4. All Outlander trims are equipped with LED rear combination tail lights and LED positioning lights. With the exception of the Outlander ES 2.4, the Outlander is equipped with fog lights and the fog lights on the Outlander GT 3.0 S-AWC are LED fog lights. A sunroof comes standard on the Outlander LE 2.4 and GT 3.0 S-AWC, and the Outlander SE 2.4 and SEL 2.4 offer the sunroof as an available option.

Safety Features

Safety is important to Mitsubishi, and the Mitusbishi Outlander has some excellent safety features. The Outlander is fitted with seven standard airbags and they include a driver’s knee airbag, front-seat mounted side airbags, and advanced dual-stage SRS front airbags. The Outlander also has Hill Start Assist, a LATCH tethers, and features Mitsubishi’s unique exterior body construction called RISE.
