According to Mitsubishi Motors, the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car. While offering consumers the convenience of spending less money on fuel, the Mitsubishi Mirage seems like a hybrid, but without the hybrid price tag or complicated technologies. Available in three trim levels - ES, SE, and GT, the Mitsubishi Mirage comes standard with a 1.2-liter MIVEC DOHC 12-valve inline three-cylinder engine. “MIVEC” is the term for Mitsubishi’s personal Variable Valve Timing technology, which alters the timing of a valve lift event and is utilized to improve performance. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the Mirage ES, and it offers a fuel economy of 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. The Mirage SE and Mirage GT come standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) -- which conserves fuel and increases the fuel economy to 37 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway.
