The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup consists of eleven trims, including the two new trims, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sterling Edition. The all-new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is breaking records with its high performance engine, and the Grand Cherokee Sterling Edition is a special-edition 25th Anniversary model. Of the eleven Jeep Grand Cherokee trims, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are only available in a 4x4 drivetrain. The remaining eight Grand Cherokee trims are offered with the option of a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain.
3.6L V6 Engine
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup includes four engines while each including their own specific advantages. The standard 3.6-liter V6 engine and produces 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission plus a transmission heater for drivers that live in cold climates. Additionally, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds. The Grand Cherokee’s standard 3.6-liter engine is the most fuel efficient option due to its average fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
5.7 HEMI V8 Engine
Although, the 3.6L engine is standard, Grand Cherokee 4x4 models are available with the upgraded to the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. However, this excludes the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. When equipped with the 5.7L engine, the Grand Cherokee’s horsepower increases to 360 horses and torque increases to 390 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the increase in horsepower and torque power, the Grand Cherokee’s maximum towing capacity is 7,400 pounds.
6.4L HEMI V8 Engine
The Grand Cherokee SRT was introduced in the 2012 model year and the only engine available on the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. The 6.4L engine produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. and it gives the Grand Cherokee SRT a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. Built for power and performance, the Grand Cherokee SRT has a top speed of 160 mph and goes from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
Supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 Engine
Making its debut on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup for the 2018 model year, the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine is only available on the all-new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which is the considered the fastest SUV ever. The supercharged 6.2L engine produces 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque and it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and it can hit a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is definitely one of the best competitive SUVs on the track.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers a variety of available and optional exterior features to fit any lifestyle and budget.
