What's new in the 2016 model? There are a lot of new features on the 2016 Kia Soul. The biggest edition to the Kia Soul is the newest package called the Premium package, and it includes collision and lane-departure warning systems, which are both totally new safety features available on the Soul. Other new features include a more attractive cabin with user-friendly controls and increased passenger room.

Reviews say that the Soul has plenty of space even when traveling with passengers. Also, reviews say the handling of the car is smooth and an easy ride. Another top feature drivers appreciate is the amount of cargo space allocated when the back seats fold down.

Trims and Engine

The Kia Soul is available in three different trims and Kia got very creative when naming each of them -- there’s the Base, + (plus) and !(Exclaim). Additionally, the Kia Soul has two available engine options, a 1.7-liter engine and a 2.0-liter engine. Horsepower ranges from 130 to 164 depending on the engine and transmission configuration.

Interior

The 2016 Kia Soul’s interior has a whole new feel compared to previous model years. Kia wanted to design an open and spacious vehicle that is comfortable for both the driver and passengers. Among some of the 2016 Soul’s standard interior features are a push-button start, cloth seats, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio capabilities. The seats have the option to be both heated and cooling capabilities.

Other available interior options include a leather wrapped gear shift and seats, interior lights that change to the music, a digital display screen, and LED interior lights to illuminate the car at night.

Exterior

Unlike the Soul’s interior, there weren’t many changes made to the Kia Soul’s exterior. However, there are two distinct improvements made on the 2016 model -- LED headlights and HID projection headlights. The Soul is offered in ten different colors ranging from green to white. The Soul’s standard wheel size is 17 inches.

Other available exterior features on other Soul trims are mirror mounted turn signals, a panoramic sunroof, LED tail lights, bright fog lights and two-toned 18-inch wheels.

Safety

The Kia Soul has a reputation for being a safe vehicle. The 2016 Soul received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Soul has been an IIHS “Top Safety Pick” since 2009. Passenger airbag occupant sensing deactivation, rear center 3-point belt, stability control, traction control, and emergency braking are just a few of many great safety features on the Kia Soul. 

Price and Warranty

The price for the Soul starts at $15,900 and goes up to $21,300 for the Exclaim model.

The Soul’s warranties are some of the auto industry’s best. The Soul’s warranties include a 5-year or 60,000-mile basic warranty, and a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
