UConnect is the trademark infotainment center system that is fitted for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The latest 2019 vehicles have benefitted from this user-friendly, superior technology created to make life simpler for drivers. Traffic and bad drivers are assured no matter what when driving in South Florida, but distracted driving is something that FCA has helped to curb with their innovation. Let’s get into why FCA has kept improving their UConnect system and what buyers can expect when they make a purchase with a modern UConnect system.

Why UConnect?

Officially adopted by Chrysler, FIAT, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram vehicles and has continually updated features to help assure drivers and passengers have an excellent experience every time they drive any FCA brand vehicle. Drivers have the choice of navigation, entertainment, and full-scale communication thanks to UConnect advancing its interior technology. The award-winning system has a ton of helpful features offered with on an advanced and easy-to-use 5-, 7-, 8, 8.4 or impressive 12-inch touchscreen. We recommend checking out the massive 12-inch touchscreen pictured above in the all-new, award-winning 2019 Ram 1500.

UConnect grants drivers several ways to reach various entertainment sources. In addition to the radio and USB ports, UConnect is available with SiriusXM Satellite radio, which gives a whole plethora of specialized radio stations that cover every style of music, talk shows, news, and sports radio. This is not just AM/FM, this is variety and no commercials. Presented in rich sound for all passengers to enjoy, with upgradeable premium selection options from Beats Audio, Alpine, Harman Kardon, Infinity or Boston Acoustics. Turning a vehicle into a superior sounding club environment is possible thanks to FCA’s partnerships to include these brands.

UConnect’s Connectivity Is Second to None

What helps separate UConnect from other infotainment systems is the constant need to improve. Recent years have seen the addition of Apple Carplay and Android Auto. These systems allow users to use their smartphone to perform phone calls, read and transmit text messages, listen to music all while letting the driver focus on the road ahead. In a perfect world, every driver could multitask and keep their eyes on the road and have UConnect make it that much easier.

Lost? UConnect carries real-time GPS features. UConnect also offers other convenience features like SiriusXM Guardian. SiriusXM Guardian provides drivers with a way to remain aware of where their vehicle is with a few taps on their smartphone. Need help finding your parked FCA vehicle? The UConnect app also provides SOS messaging, roadside and stolen vehicle assistance for drivers.

More to Experience

Driving an older vehicle? Ready to give the latest technology a try? UConnect has matured and now works easier than ever for owners. This system is now extremely integrated for drivers and passengers to quickly use their electronics with their vehicle. Is the Extra Cost of GPS Navigation Worth It?

It’s great to get a vehicle with an infotainment system and a touchscreen display these days. Chevrolet MyLink, Kia’s UVO eServices, the Fiat Chrysler Automobile Group has Uconnect – they’re all great little systems that help manage entertainment options, as well as apps. One app that consumers will regularly find on an infotainment system is GPS navigation, and usually, a consumer has to pay more for that additional feature. It doesn’t quite make sense – why would automakers charge consumers for a feature they can readily use on a smartphone? You could call it a convenience fee, but maybe there’s advantages to spending a little extra.

Getting a Factory-Installed System

When it comes to a factory-installed system, like next-generation Uconnect 4 or Kia UVO eServices, there’s a bit of convenience that makes it easier to manage music as well as follow a GPS to a desired but unfamiliar destination. The center console is less cluttered, and the system is easy to set up. Factory-installed systems are also more secure, harder to steal from the vehicle, leading would-be criminals to keep walking. Moreover, adding an infotainment system, especially one with navigation capability, increases its resale value, so think of it like making a small investment to get Uconnect with Navigation.

However, that investment might be more than expected. Back in the old days, consumers could pick and choose their features. Now, it’s a package deal. For example, a consumer could get Chevrolet MyLink, but if they wish for Chevrolet MyLink with Navigation, it’s part of a package that includes all these extra things, increasing the price. When it comes to convenience, it’s actually pretty inconvenient to not be able to operate a function you paid for just because the car is in motion.

A Closer Look at the Uconnect Systems and Features

Ever hear of Uconnect? For those unaware, it’s the brand name of the infotainment system used by the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). That means every Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram truck, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, and, of course, Fiat vehicle can come equipped with Uconnect, depending on the trim and options and/or packages chosen by the consumer. If you never heard of an infotainment system before, it’s a technological combination of one’s stereo system and numerous apps and services that connect the driver to their car and third-party networks. So let’s talk about Uconnect and what it does.

What’s the Deal with Uconnect?

Depending on the type of Uconnect system a car has, Uconnect can include anything from working the stereo to music and games, as well as traffic reports and even car data. There are multiple versions of Uconnect denoted by a number, but in reality, there are only two versions of Uconnect out now. The previous generation and the next-generation Uconnect 4. Past versions of Uconnect one may see include Uconnect 5.0 and Uconnect 8.4, and it is actually the same version of Uconnect (possibly with additional functions) on a different screen size, i.e. five inches or 8.4 inches.

“Uconnect is the feature-packed navigation, entertainment, and communication system that lets drivers live their lives, connected. The award-winning system takes a bunch of great features and drops them into an elegant and customizable 8.4-inch touchscreen.” –

Drivers who own a 2017 Chrysler 300, 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, or 2017 Dodge Challenger or Charger model have probably already noticed that their vehicle features the new Uconnect 8.4 system that was upgraded in 2017. For the 2018 model year, FCA is taking that a step further. Many 2018 model year FCA vehicles will be upgraded with Uconnect 4, which is the next-generation of infotainment systems. Uconnect is the infotainment system used by many FCA vehicles, and today we’re going to look at the capabilities of 8.4 and the new generation Uconnect 4.

Uconnect 8.4/NAV

Many FCA models have Uconnect 8.4 or Uconnect 8.4 NAV. Like the basic Uconnect 5.0, Uconnect 8.4 has access to AM/FM radio,  a media hub for mobile device integration to make hands-free calls or stream audio via Bluetooth. However, Uconnect 8.4 comes with HD Radio, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and recently, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support on some vehicles. Uconnect 8.4 is accessed via an 8.4-inch touchscreen.

Uconnect 8.4 may also come with a “Do Not Disturb” setting to automatically route incoming calls to voicemail and suppress text messages to help drivers keep their attention on the drive and without being distracted. With voice-command signals, Uconnect 8.4 may also have Siri® Eyes Free, a feature that can respond to natural language commands to make and receive calls, play music, dictate and send text messages and emails, and receive turn-by-turn directions. Users may also customize the layout of Uconnect 8.4 with a drag-and-drop menu bar, similar to hand-gestures on smartphones.

Dodge Durango Offers More Than Cargo and Passenger Capacities

Miami Lakes Auto Dodge Durango Highlights Roof Crossbar

Some SUVs are so much more than vehicles to haul people and cargo around. Some SUVs, like the Dodge Durango, offer a lot to the average consumer. In addition to its room for cargo storage, it also has plenty of space for people and passengers.

There are two engines that can power the Dodge Durango. The standard on most of the vehicles is the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that can generate up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, if looking for more power, then consumers will want to go with the optional (sometimes standard, depending on trim level) 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. Able to generate 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, that offers 7400 pounds of towing power. Let’s not forget about the Dodge Durango SRT either.

Powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, the Durango SRT generates 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to tow 8,600 pounds, enough for a small boat and maybe a little more. Like many SRT vehicles, the Durango SRT has a cold air intake via an air scoop on the hood of the vehicle to keep the engine cool and funnel cooler air into the air intake. With all those components working together, the Dodge Durango SRT can finish a quarter-mile in just 3.9 seconds, making it America’s fastest three-row SUV and possibly one of the fastest SUVs on the planet.

With the Durango’s available cargo cross bars, consumers aren’t just limited to towing cargo. Put a couple of things up on the roof (up to 150 pounds) and head on over to the beach for a sunny day of good times. Plus with automatic headlights, heated mirrors, and an acoustic windshield, drivers can cruise in the dark, day, or rain, and still have peace of mind and in the cabin.

Inside of course, there’s plenty of space for passengers and cargo. The Durango can seat up to seven people if the party calls for it by opting in for the third-row seating group. It also has room for 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space when it isn’t equipped with third row seating or when the foldable 60/40 fold-and-tumble second-row seat and the 50/50 split-folding third-row seat are down.

Available with Uconnect 8.4 Nav on an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth connectivity, the driver and passengers are hooked up in the Dodge Durango. When it comes to safety, know that the driver and passengers are protected with ParkSense rear park assist, a ParkView rear back-up camera, adaptive cruise control with stop, blind-spot monitoring, and in case of emergencies, Uconnect roadside assistance is available to help.

Miami Lakes Fathers Day Dodge Packages

Miami Lakes Fathers Day Dodge Packages

“Dada” is usually said to be the first word a baby can pronounce. Fathers like to take a little pride in this, but it’s actually the first word because it’s easier for babies to pronounce. However, if you have a loving father in your life, then you’ve probably made them proud more than once, and learned to share joy, love, and laughs. Why not return it this Father’s Day with some thoughtful gifts, especially if your old man drives a Dodge.

Does He Like Speed?

Is Pops driving a Dodge Challenger or Charger? There’s many muscle car enthusiasts out there, and he may be one of them. However, not everyone can afford SRT or Hellcat model prices. Check out the Bondurant Racing School. For a single day, dad can drive in cars like the SRT Hellcat and on the track in a Viper GT. Experience the speed without the $60,000 price tag.

Dodge Durango Brass Monkey is One Funky Monkey

Miami Lakes Dodge Durango Brass Monkey

The Dodge Durango Brass Monkey will crush other SUVs by appearance alone. Some of the finer accessories have been made available to the consumer, and the Brass Monkey package brings back the look of the Durango Limited, a trim that is no longer available. The package was released as an option for the Durango R/T first, but Dodge knows not all of its consumers can jump the gap to $40k+ with ease. So they recently unleashed the Brass Monkey for the Dodge Durango GT for people who are more budget conscious, and it’s one funky monkey. (they did the same thing with the Dodge Scat Pack Dynamics Package)

Miami Lakes 2017 Dodge Challenger GT Grille

O.M.G. A Dodge Challenger with all-wheel drive will be arriving in showrooms in 2017. This has to be one of the most exciting things we’ve heard about all year, in terms of Dodge at least. And trust us, there’s been a lot of exciting and good news about Dodge this year. Their 2017 vehicles are already getting praise, and with the Challenger GT AWD on the way, there is a lot to look forward to!

All the Goodies

Ever since the new Dodge Challenger T/A and Dodge Charger Daytona models were introduced in August, Dodge has gone completely insane, in a good way. It seems like every month we’re getting something new, and who can really complain? It should be illegal, but what cop is going to press charges when they’re getting their own Dodge Charger Pursuit cruiser? Plus, along with the big news about the Challenger GT AWD, the Barracuda is also said to be making a comeback.

Family-Oriented 2016 Dodge Journey

Miami Lakes Dodge Journey Family

Miami Lakes Dodge Journey FamilyWhen people hear the Dodge name, they think of two things – muscle cars and family cars. We talk plenty about the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, so let’s put the family cars in the spotlight this time around. Particularly, one that doesn’t get the love and appreciation it deserves for such a family-friendly and oriented vehicle. Did you know the Dodge Journey might be the next car for your family?

Seating and Cargo

So to start off, the Dodge Journey has up to three rows of seating and can seat up to seven passengers at a time (five is the standard). Quite comfortably, too. The driver’s seat is six-way adjustable, and for instances where cargo is needed and no front passenger is in the car, the front passenger seat can be folded down for more room. Speaking of cargo, the second row is a 60/40 split-fold, and for easy access to the third row, the second-row seats tilt and slide forward. Plus, the Dodge Journey comes with integrated second-row child booster seats.
