LTA is International Armoring Corporation ballistic glass of choice. The best thing about driving a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is knowing just how fast and free the feeling is. Inspiration comes from within the dominant, extra quick SRT Hellcat Redeye with its 797 horsepower engine and a ridiculous 203-mph top speed. Drivers are forewarned; this is barely a street legal vehicle and is best suited on a race track. However, that doesn’t have to stop anyone from showing off what a remarkable, beautiful and powerful muscle vehicle can genuinely embody.

Almost Too Sharp To Touch

There’s no denying the sharp design and bold features of the Redeye are attractive. Few vehicles on the road have such an impact upon first sight. The noticeable Hellcat logo is on each side and the twin-snorkel lid hood with the sleek design throughout will draw attention. So will the high-end performance and speed; ever driven a vehicle that cuts through a quarter-mile in only 10.9 seconds? That’s the kind of speed we are talking about.

Both the Hellcat SRT Redeye and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody generate 707 lb-ft of torque and handle exceptionally well. The SRT Redeye is only available with the eight-speed automatic transmission and comes stock with impressive Brembo brakes that are fully capable of slowing down the high-speed adrenaline drivers are sure to test their Hellcat Redeye with daily.

SRT Hellcat History

In 2014, the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was introduced. Back then, the Hellcat hit 707 horsepower and raised the bar for what engine output in a production vehicle could be. Now, just four years later, the bar has been set even higher. The Redeye is not quite as powerful as the 840 horsepower of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that came out in 2018, but is quite significant with a wicked engine and body that borrows parts from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon itself. The success of the first Hellcat was immense as Dodge could hardly make enough in time for the customers appetite.

So, what makes the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye special? Unlike the Demon, this vehicle will have a much lower price point at $69,650 MSRP (plus destination fee) and isn’t under any limited production numbers. There’s no doubt this vehicle is sure to be a hit for any one who wants to feel the rush of owning among the best Dodge Challenger SRT muscle cars ever made.

“As it has been common to do over the past 50 years or so in the muscle car world, we took the biggest engine we had available to us and we mated it with the best car we had available to put it in. So this is the marriage of the Demon powertrain to the Hellcat, ” said Kevin Hellman, Dodge’s brand manager for the Challenger

What Makes the Dodge Hellcat Widebody the Must-Have Car of 2018?

Photo Credit: Dodge, 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody

The Dodge Challenger has a rich history that began in the 1950’s back in Detroit, Michigan. All these decades later, the Dodge Challenger is still the muscle car to own today. Dodge enjoys pushing the envelope to what is possible with their 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. For those looking to brighten up their fall, they can start by calling this special Dodge Challenger their own. The Hellcat Widebody carries the 6.2-Liter supercharged V8 engine and makes other engines seem small and unimpressive by comparison. There’s very few engines in any muscle car that can compete with the the 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque provided by the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody.

Owners will gain a lighting quick quarter-mile time of 10.9 seconds with this amazing muscle car. If that’s not fast enough, check out the 0-60 mph time of only 3.4 seconds hitting 127 mph. This unique speed and high-performance ability is only the start of why the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody is the must-have muscle car in 2018.

The Muscle Car That Will Turn Heads

Stylish, cool and impressive in every way, drivers gain not only a fast car, but a statement maker. Starting off with the large “Devil’s Rim” aluminum wheels taken from the SRT Demon, the Hellcat Widebody provides optional Pirelli P Zero tires that are flexible and perform well on turns and curves on the road. The Hellcat Widebody comes stocked with a six-piston high-performance Brembo brake system for impressive braking. For a little more style, the Hellcat has strong features like a blacked-out rear lip spoiler and includes extended fender flares.

Let Them Hear You Coming

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody doesn’t wait around once a driver touches the gas pedal. This is a muscle car that explodes with its unique 707 horsepower engine that throttles ahead with the power generated sent to the rear wheels by way of the six-speed or optional eight-speed automatic transmission. It may take some getting used to, but with the added help of traction control, driving a Dodge Challenger as impressive as this one is more fun and exhilarating with each drive. Keep in mind, the “Widebody” name was born out of the extended three-and-a-half inches added to the standard Hellcat’s width. Having the extra inches allows drivers to maintain a better grip on turns and makes the Hellcat Widebody appear like its cousin, the SRT Demon.

All the Amenities of a Dodge Hellcat Widebody

Another factor many overlook is just how spacious and lush the interior is. Dodge provides owners with a widespread interior, an oversized and useful trunk space, and lots of room to house the Hellcat V8 engine. Inside the vehicle are standard air-conditioned and heated seats with a dual-zone climate control feature. Not to mention, there’s also a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen that provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the crisp audio that can only be delivered by an 18-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. Luxury never looked better with leather bucket seating that includes a new interior seating color option of “Demonic Red Laguna”. Fitting for a vehicle that goes nearly demon fast and looks nicer than just about any vehicle you can find for the price. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody begins at $65,690 MSRP (plus destination fee.) This all combines to create the must-have muscle car of 2018.

Miami Lakes Automall New Dodge Viper

New Dodge Viper … Again?

Miami Lakes Automall New Dodge Viper

“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” That’s the kind of quote we could use when talking about the legendary Dodge Viper. Back in 2016, the nearly 30 year-old sports car was finally being put to rest to downsize the Dodge lineup a bit, along with the discontinued Dodge Dart. Let us tell you, it didn’t quite stick. It first started with some going away Dodge Viper special editions that sold out quick. A second round of more special editions were produced and and then brought back a second time for collectors that got the memo a little late. Then we thought the Dodge Viper said its goodbyes when Pennzoil made a Last Viper tribute video. We thought it was done for … But Dodge has other plans.

The Dodge Viper

If it wasn’t for the Dodge Viper sports car, the high performance automobile group, SRT, may have never come to be. Originally called “Team Viper”, the “Street and Racing Technology” (SRT) group was put in charge of designing and developing the legendary Dodge Viper. The model went through various names – the Dodge Viper SRT-10 in 2008, then the SRT Viper in 2013, and then the latest model, Phase VX (later simply called “Dodge Viper”) that lasted from 2013 to 2017.

Under the hood of the Dodge Viper was a hand-built 8.4-liter V10 engine. Designed with ten cylinders in two banks of five, this engine was rated at 645 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque – the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports-car engine in the world. With that kind of power, the Dodge Viper had some impressive track times. In 2016, the Dodge Viper, ACR (American Club Racer) was named the “ultimate street-legal race car”, having held more track records than any production car in the world (a total of 13 road course lap records as certified by the Sports Car Club of America), and a recorded time of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds flat. However, one would argue the 2003 Dodge Viper Hennessey Venom 650R was better, with a recorded acceleration time of 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, and able to run a quarter mile in 10.7 seconds.

What Makes Dodge Vehicles Unique?

Miami Lakes Automall Dodge Unique Features

The Dodge automotive brand is pretty unique when you think about it. Is there any brand out there as iconic as Dodge? Every vehicle is infused with their heritage and style. Components, colors, engines, even entire vehicle series make Dodge stand apart as an automotive brand, and although some have been shared in recent years, we can still trace their origin back to the original automaker – Dodge. Let’s take a look at some of the features that set Dodge vehicles and muscle cars apart from the rest of the crowd.

Power

Originally belonging only to the Dodge name, the supercharged engines that now power the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon were at one point, one-of-a-kind, and in some aspects, they still are. Starting with the Dodge Challenger SRT 392, a 392 cubic-inch HEMI engine was put under the hood, able to deliver 485 horsepower. This was the engine that really charged up the Dodge Challenger name, and it could only be found on the Challenger for some time. It was unique to the Dodge name until the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT came out, outfitted with the same engine.

Next came the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Making its debut back in 2015, this muscle car came with a supercharged 6.2L V8 SRT Hellcat HEMI engine, capable of generating 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, and accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. For awhile, this engine could only be found on the SRT Hellcat, and in essence still is. Consumers won’t find a supercharged 6.2L V8 SRT Hellcat HEMI engine on any other vehicle, but they will find the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 under the hood of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

A similar engine to that found in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon engine. It has the same name as the engine in the Hellcat with one key difference – “Hellcat” is replaced by “Demon”. In addition, the Challenger SRT Demon can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, and that’s thanks to its SRT Power Chiller and a recorded installation of 97 new parts integrated into the SRT Demon engine. This kind of power most likely won’t make it anywhere else.

Miami Lakes Auto Brembo Braking System

Stopping is As Important As Speed When It Comes to Performance Vehicles

Miami Lakes Auto Brembo Braking System

With automakers churning out more and more powerful vehicles, one has to wonder how drivers keep all of the horsepower and torque of a muscle car or performance car under control. The new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, and it can be brought to a full stop from 60 mph in 97 feet. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk hits 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and can be stopped in 114 feet. Those are pretty impressive acceleration times, but the stopping times are just as impressive when you think about the physics behind it. What’s the secret to that impressive stopping power? High-performance braking systems.

Brake System Basics

Understanding brake systems can be a little confusing at first because there are a lot of components to brakes – calipers, rotors, brake pads, and pistons. A brake caliper is part of the disc brake system and is filled with several pistons. When the brake pedal is pushed and pressure is applied from the brake fluid, the pistons inside the caliper push the brake pads against the rotors to slow and eventually stop the vehicle. Typically there are usually 2-4 calipers per brake system. The brake rotor is most often an iron disc connected to the wheel’s hub that works with the brake pad to stop the vehicle; that is why a braking system may also be referred to ask a disc brake system. The more pistons, the more stopping power and the more pistons, the larger the caliper and generally the rotor as well.

Brembo Be Thy Name

“Brembo” is a name heard often when talking about brake systems. Brembo is an acknowledged world leader and innovator in the field of automotive disc brake technology and high-performance braking systems. A name automotive brands can trust, the Brembo brake systems pop up in all kinds of high-performance vehicles, such as the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the Chevrolet Corvette, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Depending on the setup of wheels, axles, and suspension, the size and specifics of Brembo brakes are different, but almost any set of Brembo brakes will get the job done.

Brembo 4-Piston High-Performance Brakes are used in the Dodge Charger SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat, come standard on the Chevrolet Camaro 2SS coupe, and they are available on the Chevrolet Camaro 1LS coupe. The system is made up of 4-piston Brembo brake calipers, a 14.2-inch front rotor, and a 13.8-inch rear rotor to improve handling and control of the vehicle under extreme braking. Sometimes, such as in the Camaro ZL1, the front brakes may have a 6-piston system whereas the rear has a 4-piston system. This 6:4 setup shows up more in Corvettes, though.

Brembo 6-Piston High-Performance Front Brakes are used in the Dodge Challenger T/A 392, Challenger SRT 392, and Challenger SRT Hellcat. This is the largest front-brake system ever used on an FCA US vehicle. It is made up of 390-mm Brembo two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers. This is the power that can bring a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to a full stop in less than 100 feet whilst going 60 mph. It may seem obvious, but the more pistons there are in a braking system, the more force can be applied to the brake pad and rotor to stop the wheels. The reason these larger calipers and rotors are put in the front is because of the transfer of weight when a vehicle is brought to a stop. With the weight transferring to the front of the car, the front brakes bare the majority of task for slowing the car or bringing it to a stop.

Some brake systems may also come visually tailored to the specific model and trim. For instance, the Brembo 4-Piston High-Performance Brakes used in the Dodge Charger SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat come with red brake calipers, whereas the Brembo 6-Piston High-Performance Front Brake system used in the Dodge Challenger T/A 392 come with black brake calipers (red on Challenger SRT 392, and Challenger SRT Hellcat). The Chevrolet Corvettes also have some choices – yellow or red brake calipers are available on the Corvette Stingray and Corvette Grand Sport, with dark gray metallic-painted calipers on the Grand Sport with the Z07 package. The Chevy Corvette Z06 comes standard with red brake calipers, but has the option of dark gray metallic as well. In the end, it’s just a personal style choice.

If interested to know more, we discussed many performance parts and how they work in our article “Performance Parts Explained – Dodge”. Check it out. If interested in getting a feel for how well these brakes work, check out our inventory or give us a call for a test drive.

Can A Grand Cherokee SRT Keep Up With A Challenger SRT Hellcat?

jeep-grand-cherokee-srt-vs-challenger-hellcat-miami-lakes-automall

Can the AWD Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT keep up with a RWD Challenger SRT Hellcat? The short (and probably surprising) answer is yes. We found this out by watching an awesome video on that raced the two vehicles. The Fast Lane Car (TFL) is the name of the group that made the video and we are pretty impressed,  check it out for yourself below.

Yes, if you watched the Challenger SRT Hellcat ended up winning, but can you believe how close the race was? The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was only behind by seconds at the finish line and also took off much faster than the Challenger SRT Hellcat. One thing is for sure, the AWD Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT can keep up with the best of them.

Facts about the vehicles pertinent to the race:

  • The Hellcat is equipped with a 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, that gets 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Cherokee SRT produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque with its 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine.

Performance Parts Explained – Dodge

Miami Lakes Performance Parts Dodge

Ever find yourself reading about a Dodge Challenger or Dodge Charger, and all these high-tech terms stand out? It’s a little irritating reading about cold air intakes and dual air extractors, having no idea what any of that means. What’s worse is automaker websites seem to forget their average consumer didn’t grow up in an auto shop, so a lot of us don’t know what’s so special about all those components they add that make a performance vehicle so powerful. That’s why we’re starting this series – Performance Parts Explained. This week, we’re looking at many of the performance parts found on Dodge muscle cars.

What’s Under the Hood

The most important part under the hood of a vehicle is, without a doubt, that powerful revving engine. Here’s some of the components you might notice on, or under, the hood of a Dodge Challenger or Dodge Charger.

Air Catcher Scoop – Take a look at the new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. See that huge opening that nearly stretches across the entire hood? That’s an air catcher scoop, and you can find a similar, smaller version on the Hellcat and other trims. They’re designed to increase the volume of air introduced to the engine, for more power of course. Some are operated by a vacuum to suck even more air in as the car drives along. When it comes to the SRT Demon, the engine sucks in about 1,000 cubic feet of air per minute.

Cold Air Intake – If you’ve ever browsed the Mopar Performance Parts catalog, this component has most likely come up. A cold air intake replaces the factory-installed air intake, moving the origination point of intake outside of the engine compartment so that colder air is introduced into an engine’s cylinders, versus the warmer air already in and around the engine. Colder air is denser than warmer air, and the more oxygen the engine can burn, the more power it can deliver.

Headlight Air Catcher – Here’s a neat design. Sometimes, a headlight in a vehicle isn’t just a headlight. Today, halogen headlamps are being replaced by LEDs, which are a lot smaller and offer some room for modification. On the Dodge SRT Demon, being that the headlamps are powered by LEDS, a small 2.6-inch passage lies in the center, acting as another air intake to feed air directly into the airbox and then the engine.

Miami Lakes Scat Pack Dynamics Package

New Scat Pack Dynamics Package for Dodge Charger and Challenger

Miami Lakes Scat Pack Dynamics Package

The Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models are the most powerful muscle cars in the auto market. Both SRT Hellcat models generate 707-horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, and they can cover a quarter mile in seconds – but all that power comes with a high price tag. For some, $60,000+ is a little too rich for performance. Now, with Dodge’s new Dynamics Package available on the Charger and Challenger Scat Pack models, high performance becomes more affordable.

Alright, so the only way to get the kind of performance an SRT vehicle provides was to get a Dodge Challenger SRT 392 or SRT Hellcat. However, not everyone can throw down that kind of cash. To smooth things over, Dodge gave muscle-car enthusiasts with a budget a winning lotto ticket when they decided to release the R/T Scat Pack and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker models. The power of an SRT engine on a budget? Yes please! How could it get any better than that?

It just did. The new Dynamics Package is a much more affordable way to get some of the performance parts used on the SRT Hellcat models onto the Scat Pack models.
