Dodge has been doing rather well lately, but they aren’t stopping with new rollouts any time soon. Dodge is ready to push sales towards their Dodge Charger and Challenger. The 2022 Dodge muscle car lineup will receive new styling packages that include the HEMI Orange and SRT Black Package appearance packages. The 2022 Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger look extra sleek with the dry-paint job with a unique single line that goes off center from the front bumper to the back bumper. The distinctive look of the HEMI Orange adds orange accents outside the muscle car with full-length outstretched orange accent stripe. Orange stitching can be observed on the flat-bottom steering wheel, console lid, instrument panel, across the doors and armrests, plus the shifter boot. There’s one more package that is also a particularly popular choice for Dodge muscle car drivers.

Go Widebody For Greater Grip + Additional Style

Owners can opt for a Scat Pack Widebody package that includes orange Brembo six-piston calipers that are matched with carbon black 20-inch Warp Speed wheels. The theme and detail provided with these packages are a throwback to the 1950s classic HEMI engine vehicles. Customers will note the bolstered seating has the embroidered Dodge logos. With the future of the Dodge brand moving towards electric vehicles, 2021 might go down as one of the fastest flying years on record, along with the record amount of Atlantic tropical storms. After last year’s seemingly never-ending to now being in the last season before 2022, we’ve come quite a long way. And during this whole experience, the Dodge brand has earned results to inspire buyers while hoisting another award. This time the trophy comes from the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study that lists Dodge as the brand that finishes second on a list that includes all the top automotive brands. Dodge won the top spot last year and isn’t far off this year. A 223-question study was given to new car owners who felt the most positive and pleasant initial encounter was with these brands. Each year, this survey helps new car shoppers reflect on their experience with a vehicle over the course of the first few months of ownership. 

“If you start with strong design, and follow that up with discipline on the plant floor, you get the kind of results we’re seeing today,” metro Detroit native Mark Champine, head of North America customer experience at Stellantis, said in a news release.

Into the Numbers of 2021 J.D. Power’s IQS

Each year, this J.D. Power survey helps new car shoppers reflect on their experience with a vehicle over the course of the first few months of ownership (the first ninety days of ownership to be specific). This is when problems should least likely appear and buyers want to know what to expect; if any problems appear, what they liked most, and other important aspects of purchasing a vehicle. Based on the problems listed per 100 vehicles, the system includes ways to gauge gain information on serious mechanical issues to problems with the infotainment system. Dodge owners only experience 139 complaints per 100 vehicles. The survey includes tens of thousands of responses each year. A big issue is smartphone connectivity across many brands. 

“They’ve done a particularly good job of preventing problems from occurring. The key is design quality. Most of the problems people report are not because vehicles aren’t built properly. The majority of problems are because vehicles aren’t designed properly or with the customer in mind. Often, the factories get the rough end of this. There is a problem with the navigation system, for instance. The assembly plants are responsible just for installing it into the vehicle. It’s not their fault the navigation system doesn’t work,” said David Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power, told the Free Press.

With the future of the Dodge brand moving towards electric vehicles, we have a tight window of time before the fastest Dodge options may actually be electrified! The high-octane Dodge muscle cars like the Dodge Charger and Challenger are exceptional beasts with their available V8 powertrains. The new muscle cars that are going to be made by 2024 will include the entirely electric Dodge vehicle. There are reports that the EV might carry the “Fratzog” logo for all electric vehicles. The Fratzog is a made up word by a designer first used in 1962 through 1976 by the brand. We saw the Dodge brand bring this logo back when unveiling the 2021 EV Day. The concept vehicle has drawn a large amount of interest from fans. One fan is actually the CEO of Dodge, Tim Kuniskis.

“It damn near looks like something that Doc Brown would have done. It looks very futuristic and electrified, and it’s our history, which is what we do,” said Tim Kuniskis. Referring to Doc Brown, the well-known fictional character from Back to the Future. 

What Dodge Vehicle Will Gain the EV Treatment First?

We have only seen teasers of what this vehicle will be as well as no clue what the nameplate that will carry this upcoming, first-ever Dodge EV. Perhaps the Dodge Challenger will gain the EV, but we can’t say for certain. Keep in mind that the Challenger body has remained the same since the brand brought the vehicle back in 2008; this is the same for the Charger since 2006. Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge, has invested upwards of $35.5 billion through 2035 for electric vehicles, which will include plug-in and hybrid vehicles. A plug-in hybrid is due out next year, so we are about a year from seeing this Dodge vehicle hit stores.Dodge understandably won’t just become an EV company solely or have their branding focus solely on EVs.

“We don’t want them to look radically different because we want you all to be part of the same thing. So, we said, ‘OK,’ if you have electrification in your car, we don’t want you to be screaming, ’I have electrification,” Kuniskis said, referring to Dodge’s “Brotherhood of Muscle” community.

Dodge is one brand that will gain an EV for the first time and see an aggressive approach towards winning over new customers for the famed muscle car brand. Dodge Aims For Electric Transformation

The next phase for the Dodge brand involves ensuring that its EV motives don’t leave behind the power and top-notch engineering that has made the brand a staple for so many decades. We look ahead to the upcoming electric Dodge muscle car. Will this muscle car be a Challenger, a Charger, or perhaps even a Barracuda? Dodge is coming closer to where the company is looking ahead towards. The biggest goal for the Stellantis growth will be how much they gain in terms of EV battery technology; the goal will be to offer costs for the EV battery with prices to go down by 40 percent from 2020 prices to 2024 prices. The next price lowering will be an additional 20 percent shrinkage by 2030.  

“All aspects of the battery pack play a role in reducing the costs, optimizing the overall pack, simplifying the format of the modules, increasing the size of the battery cells and upgrading the battery chemistry. Stellantis intends to maximize the full value of the battery life cycle through repair, remanufacturing, second-life use and recycling, as well as ensure a sustainable system that prioritizes customer needs and environmental concerns.” According to a statement released by Stellantis.

The Stellantis Group Eyes Improves 

The Stellantis group has committed to offering the best-in-class fully electrified solutions. The newest platforms that will be designed for a long life vai software and hardware upgrades. Solid state battery technology is expected to be introduced as a plan in 2026. Clean technology for a new generation of buyers will help lead the way for the brand. The next steps towards turning in sustainable mobility with rapid charge vehicles. Stellantis has promised to meet these various demands from the portfolio of customers that have requested a leap in EV growth. The current track is to build a high-energy-density option and a nickel cobalt-free alternative at some point between now and 2024. These choices are going to lead the way for the various brands including the Dodge brand.

The long history of the Dodge brand goes back many decades, but regarding one particular nameplate, the Charger, we are going to highlight one concept that debuted but did not turn into what was originally shown to customers. While many Dodge vehicles have come and gone obvious, but the brand first brought out the Charger in 1999. Back then, the Dodge Charger R/T was first rolled out a firm seven years before the Dodge brand would offer the same body in the Dodge Charger today. As the 2021 Dodge Charger, we are used to impressive handling, speed, and high-octane fun. We also can admire the perks that have come as a consequence of the Dodge brand producing back the 2021 Dodge Challenger. But, that story is for a different day; let’s get into what made the 1999 Dodge concept so attractive.

Dodge Brand’s 1999 Take With the Charger

Back when the entire Dodge brand was headed by the Chrysler brand that desired to put together the Dodge brand in a new light with many ideas that were never made, including a Jeepster concept. This Charger vehicle would end up as flagship vehicle for the brand, but that wasn’t obvious till the vehicle was highly-sought after in 2006. The Charger was first thought of as a sports car, not quite a muscle car, and the gas mileage was somewhat greater than many would imagine. The debut was at the 1999 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. This Dodge Charger concept was more like a Dodge Viper with its silky and extended exterior appearance. The R/T concept had a 4.7-Liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine. The total output was 325 horsepower and a stunning look that for some reason wasn’t turned into a production car.

Early sales in 2021 saw Dodge move vehicles at a higher rate for the Dodge Durango, Charger, and Challenger models. This is a promising display that will empower more buyers to join the Dodge brand. Dodge Growing With Younger Generation

From sales figures, an apparent trend has taken place for several years. Dodge has led the way with sales for the younger buyers. The Dodge brand knows where the future is headed, as the path towards electric vehicles (EVs) is the goal. Dodge is also aware that compared to rivals, they have the youngest buyers compared to other manufacturers like Chevrolet or Ford. Dodge first noted this a couple of years ago but has followed up with more evidence that they sell their vehicles to “the youngest demographic in the industry” according to Dodge. 

The car-buying demographic that presents most of Dodge’s business is diverse including the second-highest quantity of Asian, African Americans, and Latin buyers according to the Head of the Dodge Brand Sales Operations, Matt McAlear. The broad variety of V6 and V8 powertrains included in Dodge vehicles has pushed sales for years and extends to a new crop of buyers. However, the scope of these vehicles might alter with the renewed focus of Stellantis (parent company of Dodge) as they look to offer more fuel-efficient vehicles. 

2021 Has Proved Some Impressive Success

Dodge has seen an increase in sales that should exceed pre-pandemic numbers set in 2019. Dodge had begun to bring the focus away from creating 800 horsepower vehicles like the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. However, there was a promise to continue the SRT (Street Racing Technology) vehicles for the near future. While these are the most impressive vehicles for any owner to want, they aren’t meeting the goal of what the future holds for the Dodge brand and its EV intentions.

“There hasn’t been a date drawn in the sand saying you’ll no longer be able to buy an iron block Hemi anymore, but everybody knows it’s coming and they want to enjoy [the engine] while they can. The replacements are going to be so much more exciting,” stated Matt McAlear, Dodge’s head of sales operations.
