New 2022 Dodge Durango Gains R/T Plus Trim

Tuesday, November 30th, 2021

Dodge is no stranger to offering customers exactly what they want most. The Dodge brand has been in the news making waves and all sorts of noise to a positive response with its EV muscle car set to debut in less than two years. We can be assured the Dodge brand is set to offer a slew of outstanding vehicles that are electrified and awesome, but for now, the latest news is focused on what we have today. The current Dodge vehicle that is receiving some attention is the famed, tried-and-true Dodge Durango SUV. The 2022 Dodge Durango will add an R/T Plus trim that is going to gain much of the luxury options that make the cut for the higher trims.

What Comes with the R/T Plus?

Drivers looking to opt in to a vehicle that supplies luxurious features, but don’t want to go to the highest trim sets can look no further than the R/T Plus when the Durango SUV arrives for the 2022 model year. The equipment added to the Technology Group includes the adaptive cruise control feature, safety features like forward collision warning, advanced brake assist support, lane departure warning and makes the drive of a Durango that much more enjoyable. However, this is a group add-on, as features can be opted for or not, as owners can also decide on the Premium Interior Group that adds an upgraded instrument panel for owners. A suede headliner is also included with perks that make life easier to safely drive like Safety and Security Systems’ blind-spot detection. The power sunroof makes for a stunning appearance feature that is one of the many perks afforded with the Premium Interior Group. Owners have luxurious add-ons that include the 19-speaker, 825-watt Harman Kardon audio system, plus the Nappa leather seating and among the sharper looking SUV interiors on the market.

An SUV Fit For A King

When opting for the Durango, a massive-interior is provided that includes seating for seven comfortably, with space for more. We are not sure if there will be a return for large second-row captain’s chairs for the R/T Plus, but the option is a feature for the higher trims. For the rear-wheel-drive version of the 2022 Dodge Durango R/T Plus, the price is set at $53,820 MSRP (Plus destination fees). Customers looking for a vehicle that fits every personality in the family should go with the three-row SUV 2019 Dodge Durango. This is a vehicle that provides remarkable power and comfort and will put a smile on everyone’s face. With the ninth-generation Durango, the line-up consists of five trims. Those five trims include the SXT, GT, R/T, Citadel and SRT, with many configurations and options available for drivers to choose from. Make no mistake, the 2019 Dodge Durango is a beast with comfort throughout, with monstrous engine options capable of providing more muscle than most expect out of a three-row SUV. Let’s examine what makes the new Durango something special.

Phenomenal Engine Strength

Three powertrain options are available for the 2019 Durango. The standard engine is the powerful 3.6-Liter Pentastar V6 engine that gives drivers 293 horsepower. Upgrade to the 5.7-Liter V8 engine for 360 horsepower and for those that want the top-tier performance offered by the Dodge Durango, there’s nothing better than the 475 horsepower in the 6.4-Liter V8 Durango SRT. The 2019 Dodge Durango SRT is part of the Street Racing Technology (SRT) family, which can only mean one thing – lighting quick speed! And despite being so quick and agile, there’s no drop off with better than modest fuel economy. All V6 models have a fuel economy of 18/25 city/highway MPG, a welcomed perk of the Durango, but consumers can get up to 19 city and 26 highway MPG with the rear-wheel-drive option. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel-drive is optional for the 2019 Dodge Durango. Whichever makes more sense for practical reasons, side with that. Drivers don’t have to sacrifice the power for decent gas mileage, though. The V8 engine is standard on the R/T trim, optional for the Citadel, and has an EPA of 14/22 city/highway MPG.

Superior Durango Interior

What’s best of all about the Durango might be all the space owners and passengers will have. With the rear seats down in this three-row SUV, owners will have 43.3 cubic-feet of storage room and owners can count on 85 cubic-feet of total storage space with both the second and third rows folded down. The front seats are firm and supportive, the second room supports great leg room and the individual captain’s chair option for every trim except the SXT is impressive and comfortable.

Quality and comfort are just part of what make the 2019 Durango interior so nice. The available soft leather upholstery for all trims provides a high-end look to this otherwise fierce vehicle. Leather is standard for every trim except the SXT and GT. The muscle look is defined with the GT providing the same style as the SRT with an optional domed hood with functional air extractors. The Citadel trim provides a strong presence of chrome plated detail throughout the vehicle. The SXT and GT have a standard 7-inch touchscreen, while the higher trims have an 8-inch touchscreen.

Towing Strength?

Not every driver will need to tow heavy objects, but for those who need extra power and hauling capabilities, there’s no worries with the 8,700 maximum towing capacity for the 2019 Durango. With the ability to haul more than 4 tons, drivers can get the job done with ease. The Durango SRT is our pick for the most versatile vehicles offered by Dodge. The Durango provides impressive steering and hauling powers to give every driver the option to do some heavy lifting.
