Good news for those who were wondering if the 2020 global pandemic was still affecting the automotive industry. For some companies that might be the case, but Dodge has expanded its Dodge Durango production by over 50% in terms of volume. If that doesn’t answer the question for the fact the pandemic has come to somewhat of a halt, Dodge is prepared to continue offering the fast and furious Durango. The top-tier three-row large Dodge SUV option is preparing for the next model year with greater perks offered to customers.

Durango Long Established Perks: Speed and Power

The 2022 Dodge Durango has improved the power and the speed. The optional 6.4-Liter HEMI V8 engine offers 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of 180 mph is the fastest option for the SUV segment. The high-performance SUV has comfortable aspects all throughout the center including among many features; a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, a power sunroof, plus a rear-seat DVD system with the Premium Interior package are all excellent choices. A tech package extends advances in safety including blind-spot and rear cross-traffic detection. For those who want a large-size SUV that can fit eight safely, this is the choice to secure. Owners can attest, the Dodge Durango SRT is the quickest three-row SUV on the market with its extraordinary 4.4 second 0-60 time. Of course, while the SRT trim presents all these features, all Durango trims offer a lot for customers to appreciate.

The End of the Short-Lived Durango SRT Hellcat

The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat trim is off the board for the 2022 Durango however. New regulations have been added to the Durango including limiting the evaporative emissions of the vehicles, holding back the chance to continue the Durango SRT Hellcat. The upcoming production of the Durango will include all the trims from the previous year, except for a lone 3,000 vehicles that will complete the order of the fastest-three-row production SUV on the market.

“When we switch to ’22 model year, there’s new evaporative emission requirements that come in that the Hellcat engine does not meet in that platform. And with the change in platforms for the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, it’s a one year cycle,” said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis

Most recently, regarding the Dodge brand, there were questions raised about whether Dodge will still deliver the fastest vehicles made in mass production anywhere in the world. Dodge settled on keeping the promise to offer these impressive vehicles for the present, future, and beyond. Like the rest of the competition, Dodge is ready to defend its high-octane, high-performance. The strongest and fastest Dodge muscle cars aren’t only quick for Dodge, they are the quickest among all mass-production sedans in the entire world. Recognition should be given to Dodge’s engine power created by the monstrous 6.2-Liter HEMI high-output V8 powertrain. The engine reaches 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. When we think of Dodge vehicles today, we think of the most agile and most robust options known as SRT vehicles. Allow us to present our readers a concise history of the SRT and what buyers will notice if they go for one this summer.

Inside the Perks of SRT Vehicles

We look at each SRT “Street Racing Technology” vehicle differently, but they all hold the main purpose of the Dodge brand. For those that want an extraordinary and heart-racing reality when behind the wheel should opt for any of the newest Dodge SRT models. Originally, the SRT vehicles started as the Team Viper members of the Dodge Viper were venturing to create a new platform for vehicles. Team Viper worked hand and hand with the Plymouth Prowler. Dodge is still focused on bettering their products by creating more horsepower and EV possibilities.

Drivers looking for a remarkable vehicle should look no further than what Dodge has understood after years of hard work with its 2021 model year collection. The SRT society includes the famed 2021 Dodge Challenger coupe muscle car, 2021 Dodge Charger sedan muscle car, and the 2021 Dodge Durango SUV. The 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which is set above the Hellcat Widebody and is the prized option for the Charger lineup, starting at $80,090 MSRP (Plus destination fee). The 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye begins at $72,295 MSRP (Plus destination fee). The entry point for the Dodge Challenger SRT is the Hellcat that begins at a low $59,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee).

What Kind of Performance Can Owners Expect?

The 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat comes with an impressive array of options and a standard engine experience that rewards drivers with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds. Remarkably, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat hits a 0 to 60 mph time in a mere 3.5 seconds! For those customers that want to test-drive a new Dodge vehicle, chat with us today about how we can make the process easier than expected. The prices are not for the faith of heart, but for those who are ready to make an investment towards something they will appreciate and feel secure with. The Dodge muscle family will always welcome new members!

Dodge Doesn’t Need Any Additional EV Help From Tesla

Dodge is racing ahead of the muscle car segment, firing on all cylinders. The first-quarter of Dodge sales already in the books, with a wide margin gained in just the first three months. The automaker is pushing its muscle brand with an eye in the past and the build towards the future. As electrification becomes less of a subtle focus and the main focus of the automotive industry, brands like Dodge will have to keep in step. This has not been lost on the Dodge brass at the top of the ladder.

“The days of an iron-block supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 are numbered. They’re absolutely numbered because of all the compliance costs. But the performance that those vehicles generate is not numbered,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO.

The Move Away From Muscle?

What change can we expect? While we are not certain about the first electric vehicle that will be offered by Dodge, we know there will be one. Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge, has helped to push every brand a part of the company into a new electric vehicle territory. The next couple years will see new 2023 and 2024 model year vehicles offer the future of the brand. Dodge has not settled down composing its greatest efforts in vehicles like the 2020 Dodge Challenger Super Stock. However, we know the Dodge brand is no longer looking to put out the horsepower in vehicles like this or the one-year-run of the famed 2018 Dodge SRT Demon, a Challenger that first pushed the brand into the 800+ horsepower territory that the Super Stock offers.

No Help From Tesla Required

While there was a report that Tesla might be involved in helping the Stellantis brands, like Dodge, to gain a step up on the EV production, that is no longer the case. When speaking about the tax credits and investments Stellantis has to worry about in the global market, the truth is they are more than capable of handling the push towards EV. Just the right amount of forward thinking will go a long way for the Dodge brand as they look to make their own mark on the EV market without the help from competitors, like Tesla.

“With the electrical technology that PSA brought to Stellantis, we will meet carbon dioxide emission regulations as early as this year. Thus, we will not need to call on European CO2 credits and FCA will no longer have to pool with Tesla or anyone,” remarked Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares

Dodge Brand Is Working To Add More Horsepower And EV Capabilities

The Dodge brand is looking ahead to the future, but let us look back to the year the Dodge brand jumped ahead to reinvent itself. The Dodge Charger was brought back in 2006. Re-Debuting at the 2006 North American International Auto Show after its original production started in September 1969 through 1974. Since then, it’s all been a big success including and the brand introduced the 2008 Dodge Challenger. By the time the 2015 model year came around, Dodge introduced the 6.2-Liter HEMI, which is still used today in higher trims across the Dodge brand.

Brief Recap of Recent Dodge Muscle History

The Dodge brand has only upped the ante as the powertrains would only become more fierce. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was the first Dodge muscle car to add over 800 horsepower in a Dodge production vehicle. They kept up this immense power by maintaining the output of over 800 horsepower with the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock

“We listen very, very carefully because these are the people who are going to buy these cars. If they tell us there’s something that they want, and it’s possible, we listen very, very closely to them. If I had to categorize it, I would say the Super Stock is nothing like the Demon, and it’s more like the Redeye, just re-tuned for the wheel and tire package. 80 percent Redeye and 20 percent Demon.” -Tim Kuniskis, Dodge President

What Will Become of the Brand?

So, now the muscle car world is looking for a new Dodge emblem. Will the brand push the boundaries even further? The iconic nameplates might see more SRT Hellcat fun. After all, before Stellantis took over for Dodge, the SRT vehicles grew outside of Dodge into the Jeep brand and the Ram brand with the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV and Ram 1500 pickup respectively. A recent episode of the Brembo Red podcast had Ralph Gilles, former CEO of SRT brand. He currently is the Chief Design Officer for Stellantis and hinted the future of the brand rests within the electric future we’ve hinted at before.

“It might be a combination of electrification and gas. The technology is there,” said Ralph Gilles.

How Soon Till The Dodge EV Party Begins?

We’ve heard word that Dodge has placed an order for transmissions from ZF Friedrichshafen in 2019, which is different from what is used in the Dodge brand today. The new fourth-gen transmissions purchased in 2019 have the option to include a built-in electric motor. The eight-speed gearbox is able to support the internal combustion engine with up to 160 kW and 450 Nm. These are the kind of leaks that lead to rumors and suggestions about where the brand is headed, for now, let us just appreciate some of the most fierce and firmly established muscle cars in production today, like the 2021 Dodge Challenger and Charger lineup. Dodge Challenger Reigns Supreme In 2019

The competition among muscle cars has been fierce for the third quarter of 2019. The winner is the Dodge Challenger, which has come out on top ahead of long-standing rivals Chevrolet and Ford. Moving into first-place in front of both the latest Ford Mustang for the Chevy Camaro is an achievement for the Dodge brand. No other muscle car could match the sales of the premier Dodge muscle car, the high-performance Challenger. The Challenger saw a massive volume sold, hitting their biggest quarter ever. Dodge and parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are happy to see their Challenger moving 18,031 units sold versus 16,823 Ford Mustang sold and 12,275 sold for the Chevy Camaro.

How Did Dodge Pull So Far Ahead of the Rest?

Conventional wisdom would say that the Ford Mustang should have sold more volume than they did. They didn’t. Many would have guessed the Camaro should have done better, they didn’t fare any better, either. What could explain how Dodge did as well? The answer is found in all the perks Dodge offers that no other brand can match. No other vehicle saw a positive gain in this quarter. The Dodge Challenger saw their sales rise 21 percent over this time last year. Mustang fell down by 12.3 percent and Chevy saw the Camaro go down by 15 percent. Despite having an older platform, the Dodge Challenger keeps rolling against the competition.

Maybe It’s the Muscle?

Ford doesn’t offer a muscle car that can match the aggressive horsepower offered in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. The upcoming Ford Shelby GT500 will have 37 less horsepower than the aforementioned Hellcat Redeye, which nearly hits 800 horsepower at an outstanding 797 horsepower. Just below that threshold is the SRT Hellcat that offers 707 horsepower. The Camaro, currently in the 6th generation, offers an engine that hits 650 horsepower by comparison. Dodge has learned their vehicles are among the most popular among drivers and their customer base is also younger than the competition’s as well.

Perhaps the Success Is Due To Versatility

Dodge won this quarter and looks to build on this success. More reasons that point out how this happened could be due to the fact that Dodge has plenty of trims and also offers many more special editions and unique packages. With so many different levels of the Challenger to drive off with, the Dodge brand helps customers take home the exact muscle car and perks they want. Stop by and pay us a visit at Miami Lakes Automall for all things automotive. Want to experience what it’s like behind the wheel of a muscle car? Allow us to make it happen at Miami Lakes Automall.
