Ever wanted to add a better engine to make each drive more exciting? Dodge and Mopar, the parts and service distributor for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has just announced some great news. The most impressive production engine offered by Dodge is now available for purchase through a new Hellcrate package. The famed Dodge Hellcat Redeye V8 powertrain is now a crate offering through Mopar. This is no regular engine, as the output that drivers will experience is the 807-horsepower offering that will put a smile on any driver’s face.

Breaking Down the Best of Dodge Engineering

The Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock debuted earlier in 2020 and pushed the envelope of the Challenger muscle car even further than the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye did. This is the same engine used in the all-new SRT Super Stock, despite the Hellcat name. The SRT Super Stock uses the Hellcat Redeye engine and received enhancements that belonged to both the SRT Demon and SRT Hellcat Redeye. When speaking about this new offering, the head of FCA’s global head of passenger cars

2021 marks the year that Dodge is distilled to a pure performance brand with 700-plus horsepower models available across the entire Dodge lineup. The new 807-horsepower Hellcrate Redeye crate engine gives any pre-1976 vehicle owner another opportunity to become a member of the Dodge brotherhood of muscle by tapping into the Dodge//SRT power that wasn’t available then, but is now,” said Tim Kuniskis, FCA’s global head of passenger cars for Dodge in North America.

More On the Hellcrate

The cost of the high-powered engine crate is not for the faint of heart for both drivers that aren’t used to the HEMI V8 power or the high-cost of owning such a well-made engine. The expected listing cost will be $21,807 MSRP, but it is less expensive than the 1,000 horsepower Hellephane 426 supercharged V8 powertrain also available through Mopar (that engine costs just under $30,000 MSRP). Keep in mind, the Hellcrate Redeye is the most expensive and strong production-car engine that Mopar offers, and customers will be more than willing to swap out their engine for this high-performance engine.

Owners can also opt for the 707 horsepower that costs $20,215 MSRP. The larger supercharger and stronger bottom end with its forged alloy steel crankshaft, high-strength pistons, and powder-forged connecting rods are some of the highlights. More new Dodge muscle is coming out of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (Soon to be known as Stellantis) before long. The future of the Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle car models will have three new additions. FCA has struck a three-year deal with a Canadian auto workers union, known as Unifor, to produce these three new variants of the Dodge Charger and Challenger. FCA has put together a new $50 million investment into the Brampton Assembly factory. There will be an influence of new trims to generate some energy into the Dodge brand.

Dodge Prepares For New Muscle Trim Options

Dodge generated quite a stir when it came out with the Street Racing Technology (SRT) Hellcat trim in 2015. The Challenger was the first Dodge to gain the SRT Hellcat and it was added to the Charger soon after, followed by the Dodge Durango this year. Dodge sought to push the envelope even further when it brought out the SRT Demon and SRT Hellcat Redeye. A new SRT Super Stock came out this year and for the foreseeable future, we think Dodge will eventually offer a new Barracuda trim for one, if not both muscle cars. Dodge also put together two new Widebody trim options for customers to choose from. The trim might be known as the Cuda, as FCA has listed for a trademark for Cuda. This nameplate would be a return for the Dodge brand, as the Barracuda was produced decades ago and ended in 1974.

Dodge Will Create New Trims Shortly

The arrangement FCA put together will forge together a multi-energy vehicle architecture that is set to offer new plug-in hybrid and new electric vehicles and building the batteries used with those EVs. The Windsor Assembly Plant will create around 2,000 jobs for FCA’s Canadian division. The retooling for the plant will help the brand build and produce these new EVs and the entire investment is supposed to be approximately $1.35 billion.

“FCA has maintained a strong footprint in Canada for nearly a century. Over the last decade, we have invested over $4 billion in our Canadian manufacturing facilities, more than any other OEM in the country and it is our intention to maintain this leadership,” said Mark Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of FCA North America.

Dodge Brand Is Rebounding Its Muscle Car Sales Quickly

Despite the longevity of the COVID-19 outbreak and its far-reaching grasp on every industry, it wasn’t going to last forever. Dodge has already begun to rebound and has seen demand skyrocket with greater sales in the past month or more. The Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger have increased tenfold in consumer sales with a number that will be reflected when the third-quarter results are released in about a month. According to Dodge, the one trim that has been the fastest-selling in the Scat Pack trim. In fact, the trim is so popular that it saw its inventory sold out this summer with no options for buyers searching for this trim for about a month. Dodge promised to restock this trim for both the Challenger and Charger and possibly add a larger order for the future.

“Our number one seller right now is the Scat Pack, and we probably have 200 Scat Packs in the whole country, they’re gone…by the middle of July we should have stock built back up,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger vehicles.

What Helped Drive Dodge Sales

Dodge found new ideas to produce further sales by creating its Dodge Power Dollars campaign in 2019 and continuing the promotion in 2020. For back-to-back years, the promotion was a vital part of helping grow sales and helping customers save money in the process. For every horsepower in the vehicle a customer was going to purchase, they would save $10. For any customer opting for the famed Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, that would amount to $7,970 in savings, as the 6.2-Liter turbocharged engine has 797 horsepower. Sales have picked up and Dodge sold 500 million worth of horsepower in vehicles sold last year and intends to reach a number not far off by the end of the year.

Powerful V8 Engine Anyone?

The goal of Dodge has been to extend new offers for customers so they can drive its latest lineup of V8 engines. From hitting super fast quarter-mile times to offering Widebody trims in both the Challenger and Charger muscle cars, Dodge is doing the most for its base. Since the 1960s, Dodge has produced the Charger. The Charger began as a concept vehicle designed back in the 1940s but became the vehicle that struck its iconic standing with what it has done in the late 1960s and the influence for the brand continues today. The 2020 Dodge Charger offers five trim levels, including the aforementioned SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Regaining Tremendous Sales Numbers

2020 started with higher sales figures over 2019 in January and February. The closing of many dealerships, if not all, for a certain amount of time in 2020 lowered the figure to just 7,875 new vehicles sold in April, but has more than doubled that number in the following two months. The expectation is to see that number climb to over 20,000 and grow as much as 30,000 a month before the end of 2020. Those are figures similar to what 2019 sales figures looked like.
