Stellantis, parent company of Dodge, recently held their Stellantis EV Day 2021 meeting that revealed all of the plans going forward for their various brands. Dodge is one brand that will gain an EV for the first time and see an aggressive approach towards winning over new customers for the famed muscle car brand. We look forward to presenting all the results for the brand as we’ve learned more about the technology we can expect. Allow us to breakdown the bricks that Dodge is currently laying down for buyers and the electric future of the Dodge brand.
Dodge Aims For Electric Transformation
The next phase for the Dodge brand involves ensuring that its EV motives don’t leave behind the power and top-notch engineering that has made the brand a staple for so many decades. We look ahead to the upcoming electric Dodge muscle car. Will this muscle car be a Challenger, a Charger, or perhaps even a Barracuda? Dodge is coming closer to where the company is looking ahead towards. The biggest goal for the Stellantis growth will be how much they gain in terms of EV battery technology; the goal will be to offer costs for the EV battery with prices to go down by 40 percent from 2020 prices to 2024 prices. The next price lowering will be an additional 20 percent shrinkage by 2030.
“All aspects of the battery pack play a role in reducing the costs, optimizing the overall pack, simplifying the format of the modules, increasing the size of the battery cells and upgrading the battery chemistry. Stellantis intends to maximize the full value of the battery life cycle through repair, remanufacturing, second-life use and recycling, as well as ensure a sustainable system that prioritizes customer needs and environmental concerns.” According to a statement released by Stellantis.
The Stellantis Group Eyes Improves
The Stellantis group has committed to offering the best-in-class fully electrified solutions. The newest platforms that will be designed for a long life vai software and hardware upgrades. Solid state battery technology is expected to be introduced as a plan in 2026. Clean technology for a new generation of buyers will help lead the way for the brand. The next steps towards turning in sustainable mobility with rapid charge vehicles. Stellantis has promised to meet these various demands from the portfolio of customers that have requested a leap in EV growth. The current track is to build a high-energy-density option and a nickel cobalt-free alternative at some point between now and 2024. These choices are going to lead the way for the various brands including the Dodge brand.

Among the choices buyers have in the minivan segment, few have carried as much prestige and as much horsepower as the Dodge Grand Caravan has over the years. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced that their Dodge Grand Caravan will have one last year of production scheduled to run through May 22nd, 2020. The latest carnation of the Grand Caravan will have a similar look as the current 5th generation wraps up its long run. The Grand Caravan was first made back in 1984. Ending the Run On a High Note
FCA is preparing to turn the Grand Caravan into the Voyager to pair with the successful Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid minivans. The production of the Grand Caravan will be made at the FCA Windsor, Ontario, Canada factory where both minivans are produced. FCA has not formerly stated much about the plans for the end of the Dodge Grand Caravan. While some may view this as a way to help sales, the Dodge Grand Caravan will become more exclusive as its thirty-five-year run comes closer to its end. In fact, the Grand Caravan sold more in 2018 with American sales hitting 151,927 vehicles sold, the most since 2007. In fact, halfway through 2019, FCA has sold 71,947 Grand Caravan minivans. By comparison to the popular Pacifica, only 48,527 units of the Pacifica had been sold by June 2019.
“Grand Caravan production has not ended and we have not made any announcements about the end of production. It is our policy not to comment on future production plans,” FCA spokesperson Jodi Tinson.

Everything is bigger in Texas. That’s a true statement, especially when Dodge rolls into the 2019 State Fair of Texas with its largest line-up ever. Dodge brought along the latest Grand Caravan, Journey, Charger, Challenger, and Durango for customers to see and behold. Drivers that want to spice up their daily driving routine would not only get a bargain on excitement but one of the best-produced vehicles on the roads in a current Dodge. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has worked hard to put together a top-notch group of vehicles and no brand represents their work quite like the Dodge brand.
How FCA Has Made All Their Great Vehicles
Vehicles made by FCA and Dodge are possible thanks to the engineers and automakers that have a passion to bring out the best in each other. FCA has also done their best to reward their employees. For the 11th year in a row, FCA was named by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH) for their commitment to their employees. The award from the NBGh is the 2019 Best Employees: Excellence in Heath and Well-being Award. This is the ninth consecutive time that FCA is the only automaker to win this distinction.
Not Just Muscle Cars Go Fast
Very few vehicles are able to handle quite like a Dodge, whether it’s their muscle cars or their Dodge Durango SUV. The Durango also carries an SRT version. The Street Racing Technology added to the SRT trim of the Durango and thus created the fastest three-row SUV in the world. Speaking on behalf of FCA, the parent company of Dodge, Steve Yandura, the Director of the Southwest Business Center for FCA US added this statement.
“We are bringing our best lineup yet to the State Fair of Texas, Texas Auto Show. Every year, we work to build on our past success at the fair and this year fair attendees will thoroughly enjoy our displays and interactives,” – said Steve Yandura.
Experience the Acceleration of the Dodge Line-up
Don’t wait any longer to experience driving a Dodge vehicle. Amongst the many cars that have been produced for the muscle car segment, few offer as much value for the price as the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. The latest editions from Dodge punctuate the strength of the brand. Dodge took the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye to show off at the State Fair of Texas. For drivers hoping to show off a vehicle of their own, driving the new SRT Hellcat Redeye is not a bad way to start. The 797 horsepower fitted from its remarkable 6.2-Liter turbocharged engine makes the SRT Hellcat Redeye stand out. This Dodge product is likely the most aggressively fast muscle car most car owners will ever drive. Want to know what these vehicles are like? Dodge has done many things this year to step outside of the box. A push has been made for years, however, to see what Dodge muscle cars would look like without any box. By that we mean, is there the possibility of a convertible? We will have to wait and see, but Dodge recently came out with a widebody for the Dodge Charger. We’re going to go over the newest vehicles added to their ever-impressive Dodge muscle lineup. These are the vehicles that helped showcase how innovative Dodge has been. Dodge has created some of the fastest, most powerful, and colorful vehicles on the road today. Special edition packages are available to customers that don’t mind paying a little extra to gain a look that is more unique and adds upgrades for the interior, exterior and more. Let’s explore some of the newest ones added in 2019.
Special Edition Anyone?
Dodge has introduced plenty of special edition packages for their muscle cars. Just within the past year, they have introduced the Stars and Stripes package, a special edition for both the Charger and Challenger. Celebrating the armed forces with a low-cost $1,995 MSRP cost, drivers can add the green and black body appearance to the R/T, R/T Scat Pack and GT trim levels. The Dodge brand has the highest percentage of active military buyers in the automotive industry.
How about the all-new Octane Edition? This package provides two body color options, “White Knuckle” and “Pitch Black”. The Octane Edition provides 707 horsepower and a fantastic appearance package that provides black wheels, SRT seats with red belts, red Brembo brakes, black badges and a pitch-black interior accent that carries red stitching. The package costs $1,495 MSRP on top of the Hellcat price.
The Dodge Charger Daytona Edition starts at $3,495 and is available for the R/T and R/T Scat Pack trims. What else does this edition carry? 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, Daytona decals on the hood, roof, and trunk. Daytona front grille and instrument panel badges with Nappa Leather/Alcantara Suede-trimmed seats. Driver and front passenger lower and upper LED lamps. Regarded by many as a thing of beauty with the sharp handling, rear-wheel-drive, and fantastic style for less than some of the highest-tier Dodge muscle cars.
What separates Dodge from other brands?
Inside the 2019 Dodge Charger and Challenger is the legendary 3.6-Liter V6 powertrain, the engine supplied to all base trims. Next up, the 5.7-Liter HEMI V8 engine provides even more horsepower and torque for owners to embrace. In the highest trim, these muscle cars are given the top-tier turbocharged 6.2-Liter HEMI V8 powertrain that carries the most horsepower provided in nearly any production muscle car on the market today. The 2020 Dodge Challenger is immaculate in appearance with its flush design that draws attention thanks to its bold look. The Charger Widebody added 3.5-inches for both the front and rear tires. An oversized fender flare made Dodge opt for new Pirelli rubber tires that stretch to 305 widths at each corner. Brembo 6-piston front calipers with a two-piece brake rotor was added to the suspension, which is supplied with three damping modes; Strip, Street, and Road Course. For those who love to race, Dodge added new ways to bolster performance. A new Race Cooldown option that allows the driver to protect their vehicle has been added.

Dodge is welcoming service members and fans of the military to get a taste and sneak-preview of their all-new Stars & Stripes special edition package. The special edition package will be available for both the 2019 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger models. These prized muscle cars are going to be first shown at the 2019 New York International Auto Show opening on Friday, April 19th through Sunday, April 28th, 2019. Dodge declared their Stars & Stripes special edition vehicles will be available to reserve in May 2019 and hit dealerships nationwide later in the summer.
Step Into the Stars & Stripes Package
The Stars & Stripes package will provide these muscle cars with a detailed and polished look. The color choices are not the typical American red, white and blue, but instead, Dodge has given these vehicles a robust military appearance with the green and silver body color display. Each model will come with various aesthetic interior upgrades, including gloss black interior accents, unique black-on-black cloth seats. Dodge added an embroidered bronze star, a bronze instrument panel, and sharp bronze stitching into the whole interior. This is a vehicle that any military service member should consider, especially if they want some pure muscle car fun with each drive. The distinctive feature is a long matte, satin black and silver accent stripe that stretches across the middle of the vehicle. Many will note the American flag fender decals and 20-inch gloss black wheels, black badging and the fact this package isn’t for the base trims on either vehicle.
“We have a strong following of buyers who are in the military, as well as many buyers who are patriotic,” Steve Beahm, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Head of Passenger-Car Brands.
Feel the Awesome Power of Dodge Muscle
Customers can’t go wrong with either vehicle they decide on. The 2019 Dodge Charger is the fastest-sedan muscle car available today, and the 2019 Dodge Challenger presents a two-door experience that is comparable for owners. Both vehicles offer extraordinary speed, high-performance engine power and an outstanding ride to enjoy. The GT trims carry the well-known and trusted Pentastar 3.6-Liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque for the 2019 Charger and 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft in the 2019 Challenger. A step up from the GT are the R/T trims, which have the mightier 5.7-Liter V8 engine that outfits 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque for both the Challenger and Charger. The Scat Pack trim combines the even more notable strength as the powertrain supplied is a 6.4-Liter V8 that drives up to 485 horsepower with 475 lb-ft of torque for both vehicles. Now that’s some serious muscle any Dodge fan can enjoy.
Select Special Edition Pricing
For those considering this special edition package, the Stars & Stripes edition is available for an extra $1,995 for the following models: 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack and Charger Scat Pack; 2019 Dodge Challenger and Charger R/T models; and 2019 Dodge Challenger and Charger GT RWD models. Everyone knows a muscle car when they see them, and especially when they hear them. There’s a loud sound that erupts from a muscle car when the driver puts the pedal to the metal, as they say. As the number of passenger cars is disappearing in record numbers, one thing is certain, that won’t be the case for muscle cars; at least not any time soon and at least not with Dodge. Dodge has stated that they will produce their long-standing muscle cars, the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger for another half-decade.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is responsible for the Dodge brand and they did announce the end for the Dodge Dart and the Chrysler 200 passenger car. Ford has done the same with their Ford Fusion and Ford Fiesta soon to be extinct. Across the automotive industry, there have been companies pulling back on once popular car entries like the Buick LaCrosse, which General Motors Co. has discontinued. Chevrolet also has revealed the end of the Impala as sales for these vehicles have dwindled.
Why the Muscle Car Will Survive
There’s no way to know for sure, but Dodge is committed to making their muscle cars stand out and stay relevant as they have for many decades. In fact, the Dodge Challenger rose up three percent in 2018 sales over 2017 numbers. That is good news for fans of the remarkably fast muscle car produced by Dodge. Dodge knows from the top down the fascination with their high-performance vehicles.
“What’s dying is the commoditized, four-door nothingburger, no-personality cars. Muscle cars have a really well-defined personality and positioning, ” said Tim Kuniskis, who ran the Dodge brand at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV from 2013 to early 2018, before taking over Jeep North America.
The Beginning of the Sedan’s End
What has helped FCA move from the sedan market is the average price for the muscle cars they sell. At around $36,000, it helps to offset the money made by sedan cars, as of 2016 Dodge truly began to move from the sedan market. While the profit from trucks and SUVs, which are growing in popularity, the muscle car market remains steady. Another reason that Dodge and FCA have had success with their muscle cars, the Dodge Challenger has not changed its platform model since 2011 and even longer for the Dodge Charger, not since 2008. Rather than having to entirely redesign their vehicles for newer more electric-based designs, they have been able to see profits for a long time without having to redesign the wheel.
Retail sales for large passenger cars is down 21 percent across the board, according to sales set in 2018, but that hasn’t affected the large muscle cars of Dodge. Thanks to their latest series of SRT (street and racing technology vehicles) like the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which carry incredible horsepower and speed, they are beautiful, powerful and have gained the following of fans around the world for their exceptional high-performance and craftsmanship. The same can not be said about a Nissan Maxima, for example.
“There’s almost been a resurgence with some of the younger (people), even kids that aren’t of driving age that are interested in those products. Those kind of special additions and add-ons have really put some life into the vehicles,” said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting for LMC Automotive.
