When we think about the lifespan of a vehicle, most vehicles see their production run end before they can reach a second generation. Some brands will wait about five years before adding a new generation, only offering refreshes. A refresh is when a vehicle is upgraded to a more significant degree than the previous model year. An investment of another $155 million was just announced by Stellantis that should help further push their brands into the new electrified present and ongoing future for customers ahead. The pursuit to bring buyers the latest technology is going to not only drive sales but how many customers receive a greater return on their investment both while using their ride and after they move on from the experience.

The 2023 model year is the last model year to include the solely combustion engine offerings as the electric Dodge muscle car is expected to begin with the 2024 model year class. Dodge introduced their sixth and most sensational special edition yet in the “Last Call” series. These are the final muscle cars of the current generation before we see the all-new Dodge Challenger and Charger rides that have not been massively updated since their re-debut back during the decade before last. The all-new 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the newest example. While we await the finale for the current generation of the Challenger, let us explore what pushes this new special edition as a captivating option. The Challenger Black Ghost is going to ride with a 6.2-Liter V8 powered engine that is direct from the SRT Hellcat Redeye. The feel of this ride is inspired by the Detroit street racing community that has seen quite a few impressive vehicles debut and race on the streets of Detroit, Michigan. This special edition holds a candle to any new special edition released, including the King Daytona Charger.

Backstory on the Last Call “Black Ghost” Effort

Jumping into the “Last Call” special edition, we spot the platform of the popular widebody version of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye. The Black Ghost special edition pushed another 10 horsepower to hit 797 to 807 horsepower. This puts the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost in the rarefied atmosphere of the legendary 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The looks used on the Black Ghost are taken from the appearance of the original Black Ghost that was made back in 1970. The 1970 Challenger R/T was a remarkable ride upon its debut and the Black Ghost will be just as impressive to witness live as a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Keep in mind, only 300 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost muscle cars will be produced.

This is the sixth and second-to-last Challenger muscle car being displayed before the last and most impressive muscle car reveal Dodge has promised. The foundation for the Black Ghost is uncovered from the 1970 Challenger R/T SE, but also made famous by Godfrey Qualls, a former Detroit motorcycle police officer. He owned a black ’70 Challenger and would drag race with its 426 HEMI engine and eventually his legendary ride was moved to the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2020. Qualls passed away in 2015, but his son supported to raise some recognition to the brand and his story lives on with the motivation indulged into this all-new Dodge effort. 

Breaking Down the Perks of the Black Ghost

The 2023 Challenger will carry plenty of trims, but the unique special edition Pitch Black is a sight to see. The body color carries a polished and refined with black faux-gator-skin roof vinyl that looks comparable to the Dodge Challenger Pitch Black from the 70s. The Black Ghost special edition includes chrome “Dodge” front badges, a white stripe on the rear fender, added “Challenger” badges across the grille, rear spoiler, and front fender. Dodge included 20-inch Satin Carbon wheels with six-piston Brembo brakes; a top-of-the-line muscle car that is most likely to be sold out fast! Back then, the West Coast drag racer Big Willie Robison had nicknamed his 1969 Dodge Charger the “King Daytona” and would encourage others to go from the street racing circuit towards the legal racing streets. The special edition built by Dodge in 2022 will push the limits of what can be offered as a legal production vehicle.

The Wicked Power of the King Dayona

The Dodge Charger King Daytona comes with a wicked 807-horsepower! Hitting over 800 horsepower much like the best of the best in terms of Dodge engineering features, this one holds a candle to the SRT Demon, SRT Hellcat Redeye and the various other SRT creations made by Dodge in recent years. Go Mango orange body color paint looks fresh with the same color highlighted with orange stitching throughout the interior. There is special interior badging on the instrumental panel, 20 by 11 inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels. Orange six-piston Brembo brakes, Black Nappa / Alcantara “Daytona” seats, suede headliner, a Harmon Kardon sound system with power sunroof and a navigation package included. This is the fifth Last Call Dodge muscle car revealed with two more set to come out to the public. We will know later in September about the sixth one, but the 2022 SEMA Show will offer insight into the last and special Dodge Last Call vehicle.

The Dodge brand has been in the news making waves and all sorts of noise to a positive response with its EV muscle car set to debut in less than two years. Today, the seventh-generation Dodge Charger has been around since 2011 and will be phased out when the newest generation arrives sometime after next year. There was a refresh back in 2015, the same model year as the one this team changed up. Nowadays, the 2022 Dodge Charger starts from $33,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee) with a V6 engine, from $40,000 MSRP customers can acquire the 5.7-Liter V8 R/T version but at $75,000 MSRP the Hellcat sedan is available. From the Top Selling to the Most Unique Sales of 2021

At the beginning of every year we look back at some of the sales totals from the previous year. There were quite a bit of tempting choices that were sold as new vehicles from Stellantis in 2021. Among the options were four new Dodge Viper vehicles, as many as 10 Dodge Darts and even more vehicles that have been concluded. The Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler 200, and Jeep Patriot were also moved in 2021 as well. There was a time when the Dodge Viper sports car was a sizzling hot option, but half a decade has gone by since the last production vehicle debuted as the 2017 Dodge Viper. The Dodge Dart on the other hand, the Dart has not been in production since last being built in 2015. The Chrysler Town & Country dealt only four vehicles, but the Town & Country was last made in 2016. 

Jeep Patriot Sells More

The Jeep Patriot SUV crossover ran its course and the production run ended in 2016. The Belvidere Assembly Plant last saw one roll off the production chain in December 2016. There were actually 16 units sold in 2021 and that was an outstanding 433% difference from 2020. Not that Stellantis is going to revive any of these vehicles as they have provided customers with a wide slew of options. The 2022 Jeep lineup contains more choices than ever before for shoppers. The Dodge Polara was vended as a Classic car for $18,113 on October 14th, 2020 at an auction in Toronto, Canada to give buyers a notion of the tremendous resale significance affixed to all Dodge vehicles.
