Mopar’s Challenger GT AWD Shines at 2015 SEMA Show – Miami Lakes Automall Dodge
The annual SEMA Show wrapped up in Las Vegas last week, and the aftermath of the aftermarket showcase is still being evaluated. One of the highlights of the entire SEMA Show came from Mopar, with it’s decked-out Dodge Challenger model. It may not be a model you will see at your Dodge Dealership in Miami anytime soon, but this aftermarket concept has every Challenger fan geared up for the possibility. Mopar is the official accessories and aftermarket division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The brand has been established since 1937, although it’s roots go all the way back to the 1920s. Mopar parts are the original manufactured parts for all Chrysler vehicles, and the brand is well known worldwide. Aside from manufacturing quality parts, Mopar has also sponsored various race cars in different racing series throughout the country. Aside from its racing heritage, the main spotlight has been on Mopar for its unique custom concept vehicles, which are showcased in a big way at the SEMA Show each and every year.
This year was no different for Mopar. The company showcased plenty of models at the SEMA Show in Vegas last week, but the new Challenger GT AWD concept grabbed the most attention from the automotive industry. The Challenger concept was unique in many ways, which engineers and designers went to great lengths to achieve.
Mopar took the Chrysler 300 model’s all-wheel-drive system, and paired it with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 as the heart of the Challenger concept. Amping it up even more, is the Scat Pack 3 Performance Kit, which adds a power boost of 75 extra horsepower, and another 44 lb.-ft. of torque on top of it. With that extra boost, the Challenger GT AWD concept makes a staggering 450 horsepower, and 454 lb.-ft. of torque. A responsive eight-speed automatic transmission is paired with this powerful engine, which rounds out most of the performance upgrades on the Mopar’s Challenger concept.
Mopar may be in the business of performance upgrades, but the aftermarket and accessories company did not spare any details when they designed the Dodge Challenger GT AWD model. The custom visual package includes new color offerings, a lowered suspension system, 20-inch wheels with Mopar center caps, and a wide-body kit.
On the interior of the new Challenger, orange stitching compliments the Katzkin leather lining on the seating upholstery, center console, side panels, and shift knob. The orange color matches the exterior orange highlights seen throughout the Challenger’s front and rear bumpers. Mopar added in a flat bottom steering wheel console, Mopar door sill guards, and customized Challenger logos.
Mopar Pulls Out All of the Stops at SEMA
All in all, the Dodge Challenger GT AWD was one of the showstoppers at SEMA this year. While it was an impressive addition to this year’s show, Mopar did not stop with the Challenger concept. The company also brought a Dodge Charger Deep Stage 3 concept, a Fiat 500X Chicane and Mobe, a Dodge Dart GLH, and various Ra, 1500 models.
