Make no mistake, Dodge has reached the pinnacle of production muscle vehicles and horsepower fitted with the average driver. The limited-production 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT® Demon 170 brings the first-ever 1,000-plus-horsepower production HEMI® powertrain. This was the seventh and long-awaited Last Call Special Edition entry that has become already banned in its stock form by the NHRA thanks to decimating the quarter-mile with a certified 8.91-seconds ET at 151.17 mph. This is a remarkable ride that ties back to the powers created in 2018, five years ago, when the Challenger SRT Demon debuted.
What Does the Demon 170 Bring To the Table?
Buyers with just a red key in hand, horsepower levels are measured by the percentage of ethanol fuel detected. A recalibrated powertrain control module optimizes fueling and spark timing for equal premium and high-ethanol-blended fuel to unlock the full horsepower potential.
The absolute power to go from 0-60 mph in 1.66 seconds and generate the highest g-force acceleration of any production car represents the best of the Brotherhood of Muscle. Dodge has promised only limited to 3,300 at most based on production capacity, with 300 destined for Canada. This is truly the special muscle car among the Last Call muscle series. Ordering opened for customers launched this week in the U.S. MSRP of $96,666. Buyers have the options to choose from including 14 exterior colors, 2 Satin Black paint options, 4 interiors and optional carbon fiber wheels.

Are you a current 2018 Challenger SRT® Demon owner? When you place your order for the new 2023 SRT Demon 170 from a dealer with allocation, they’ll have the unique opportunity to request it to match to the original Demon VIN.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 comes with customized, limited-edition and serialized items available after customers gain delivery. From the included personalized, commemorative Demon decanter set and a custom instrument panel badge, to an appearance mimicking Goodwool breathable mesh car shell available for purchase. There’s no greater muscle car to ever purchase than this instant champion.
When we think about the lifespan of a vehicle, most vehicles see their production run end before they can reach a second generation. Some brands will wait about five years before adding a new generation, only offering refreshes. A refresh is when a vehicle is upgraded to a more significant degree than the previous model year. There is an even more massive change to a vehicle when a new generation is put together. This means a difference of most of the components that can change the wheel size, the entire length, volume and scope as well.
Dodge Knows A Thing Or Two About Longevity
Dodge was able to produce the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger in 2006 and 2008, respectively. These vehicles were not only able to survive on the same platform from then till now, they offered special edition packages but more or less remained the same inside as far as it’s construction was concerned. That longevity is astounding and unheard of, but was placated on the ability to maintain sales and improve the engine and offerings for customers. Now Dodge is back to the drawing board with this new generation that will have to sustain a similar value, though we hope there will be a new generation that comes sooner than the previous incarnation of their fierce muscle cars. That’s a remarkable length and Dodge is geared to make their battery-electric vehicles carry a similar production run with this next generation of all goes well.
Ramping Up BEVs Across the Board
Stellantis saw their sales of BEVs increase as much as 41%, in just one year. They went from 204,000 BEVs produced in 2021 up to 288,000 BEVs in 2022. The next generation Charger or Challenger (whichever they decide on nameplate-wise) will most likely be a BEV. An investment of another $155 million was just announced by Stellantis that should help further push their brands into the new electrified present and ongoing future for customers ahead. The pursuit to bring buyers the latest technology is going to not only drive sales but how many customers receive a greater return on their investment both while using their ride and after they move on from the experience.
The 2023 model year is the last model year to include the solely combustion engine offerings as the electric Dodge muscle car is expected to begin with the 2024 model year class. The time is and has been running out for those who are still thinking Dodge is running the same ol’ business as usual campaign. Allow us to repeat, buyers chances of driving the current Dodge lineup is ending quite soon!

We enjoy riding in Dodge vehicles just as much as our customers. At Miami Lakes Automall, part of the fun of selling and leasing vehicles is getting to see all the ins and outs of these remarkable Dodge muscle cars. What are muscle cars known for? Delivering top-notch power and being fast. So how does a muscle car or any vehicle engine supply horsepower when driving and which current Dodge vehicle offers the most horsepower? Let’s begin explaining how horsepower works.
Brief History of Horsepower Creation
The term horsepower was originally coined back in 1702 as a way to measure the amount of movement over time. One horsepower equals 550 pounds across one foot in one second of time. The actual notes regarded by Thomas Savery in 1702 help explain how the measurements back then were made when comparing a steam engine to the production of horses. Savery wound up noting that a horse could turn a mill wheel 144 times in an hour, then he measured the length of the wheel (what the horse was moving) and came up with a formula to figure out “horsepower”.
“(Steam) engine will raise as much water as two horses, working together at one time in such a work, can do, and for which there must be constantly kept ten or twenty horses to constantly maintained and kept for doing such a work.” -Thomas Savery, Scottish Engineer
Horsepower In the Automotive Industry
Horsepower when used with engines, this work is frictionless with regards to how gas energy works. A device called an engine indicator tracks the pressures from within the cylinders to note horsepower. There are actually a few ways to test the number of ways how power and torque can be measured from a vehicle. Torque is a moving force that is made by the engine’s crankshaft. The more torque created by the engine, the greater the engine’s ability to perform work is. Power is the final definition to go over, which is how fast work happens. James Watt came up with one horsepower being the power required to lift 33,000 pounds and move one foot per minute. So keeping this in mind, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat produces 797 horsepower (the highest horsepower available today for Dodge customers) at 6000 RPM.
Dodge Keeps Pushing the Horsepower Limit
Dodge has raised the level of the horsepower in their vehicles over the years, just going back to the 2010 Dodge Challenger has a maximum horsepower rating of 425 horsepower, today owners can get over 800 horsepower! There are ways to increase horsepower in a vehicle, including adding a cold air intake or adding nitrous oxide (if you want to be a Fast and Furious racer). Have more questions about horsepower? There is a feeling within the Dodge community that the V8 engines of today are going to skyrocket in value. The most obvious reason is Dodge is going out of the gasoline-focused V8 powertrains business. Dodge is headed to an exciting electric future. There have been some brand new reports that note the perks of their electrification plans . Keep in mind, they are going full force into the commitment towards building the brand with EV intentions for each vehicle. Take the upcoming Dodge Hornet SUV for example, this is a future hit ride for the brand.
Dodge Creating Layers to Brand’s Catalog
The report names Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge, as the force behind turning Dodge into the premiere brand among its many options. This muscle cars include the famed Dodge Charger and Challenger. Dodge will have no problem doing all the hard work towards its electric future alone as they get closer to the debut of their muscle EV entry. Instant impact for the industry is noted as Dodge is serious. These EVs are coming to the Dodge brand, they are not done building more of their electrified and groundbreaking, not to mention award-winning rides. This is a goal for Dodge because they want to earn the respect of the automotive industry. Rush to us to find latest news is focused on what we have today to offer.
The Final Days of Purely Gasoline Driven Muscle?
The 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger will offer a variant of change as the new-generation is expected to show. The other brands under the guidance of Stellantis have already pushed out the latest plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicles in the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and Jeep Wrangler 4xe trim. The best EVs in the world could one day arrive in the form of the greatest muscle cars available; all included from the Dodge brand!
Dodge Is Shifting Gears Again
Keep in mind that Stellantis has already decided to move the Dodge brand into a new plan that was revealed earlier this month. These plans were described, “Between 2025 and 2030, our product range will gradually become purely electric. This will be a radical change,” Stellantis CEO Oilvier Francois. The future is rapidly approaching and our goal is to remain as prepared as we are today at providing our customers with the newest Dodge vehicles because we care to keep them informed.

The Dodge Charger is virtually through as we know it, with 2023 set to be its final model year and a slew of special editions beckoning the Charger and its Challenger brother out the door. The replacement for Dodge’s muscle cars will be electric, and Dodge has been busy prepping its V8–loving fanbase for a gas-free future with the Charger Daytona SRT concept that debuted back in August. Now Dodge is trotting its athletic concept again for the 2022 SEMA show with a few updates, popping off with power outputs from the wicked 400-volt electrical system. This is the final showcase for the “Last Call” muscle car rollout Dodge began earlier this summer.
Last Minute Change
While Dodge hasn’t clarified how many electric motors the Daytona Charger SRT holds, the automaker has now shown us a lineup of power levels for the concept. The lowest trim—called 340 for the power output in kilowatts—makes 455 horsepower, while the next step up, the 440, brings 590 ponies. However, both examples offer two horsepower upgrade options, called eStage 1 and 2, as over-the-air purchases from Dodge’s Direct Connection arm. The base trimcan be boosted to 495 or 535 horsepower, while the second tier can be pushed to 630 or 670 horsepower. Dodge also says that the most powerful model will be dubbed the SRT Banshee and will include an 800-volt electrical system, but the company is still quiet on the exact power output for this range topper. This ride will top even the all-new King Daytona Charger.
What This Looks Like On the Production End
Dodge also hasn’t said how these trims will decode to production, with the Daytona SRT still officially a concept, but given the tons of thought Dodge has already put into this ride, we wouldn’t be surprised if a similar lineup eventually reaches customers. The Banshee will also offer Direct Connection upgrades, and the upgraded trims will feature a “crystal” key (Dodge used quotes, so we presume it won’t be a genuine crystal).
The revised concept at SEMA is characterized by its Stryker Red paint color as well as “Stage 2” badges on the fenders and 18-inch carbon-fiber wheels wrapped in 305-mm drag radial tires. Dodge will also use the SEMA show to get feedback from attendees on the concept’s Fratzonic Chambered exhaust system, which Dodge says raises the hum of the electric motors up to a clamorous 126 decibels, although we envision this will be lowered down for the production car due to noise laws in some states. Dodge saw a 22% growth from this past third-quarter compared to the same time in 2021. The seventh and final “Last Call” edition will be displayed live during the 2022 SEMA show. How’s that for impressive?

Dodge is out to reinvent the muscle car wheel with its EV treatment. Those in the know have said the brand came close to constructing their next-generation muscle car with a new platform to compete with the rival brands of Chevy and Ford in the muscle segment, aside from the Charger and Challenger. Most importantly for Dodge, they saw their numbers increase by 22% in the third-quarter of 2022. This change is arriving thanks to the attention Dodge has to upgrade their rides the right way. In truth, hard work does pay. The hard work is capital for the brand’s pocket and investments ahead of its muscle future in 2023 and beyond.
A Host of Dodge Designs Going Onward
Dodge is preparing to create some huge waves in its production with its EV growth they are about to welcome. The most recent plan includes taking their time to formulate the correct Dodge muscle car that will be displayed as the final muscle car of the current generation. Dodge is seeking to satisfy fans of the combustion engine with its final Challenger muscle car being offered; this is said to be most amazing muscle car reveal Dodge has pledged. For now, sales are increasing for the Dodge brand per efforts to deliver more options, among upgrades built across the brand.
“Our dealers are making every effort to deliver upon each and every customer’s needs while we continue to deal with challenging industry supply constraints. We also saw orders open up for the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe this August, adding another 4xe nameplate to Jeep brand with the Wrangler 4xe here in the U.S., and the Dodge and Chrysler brands each saw strong third quarters as we head into the final sales season of the year,” U.S. Head of Sales Jeff Kommor said in a news release.
Dodge Dart Still Selling In 2022?
Some interesting notes on the Dodge brand have come to light in the last few days, including the fact the Dodge Dart is still out there and being sold. The third-quarter of 2022 has seen the Dodge Dart hit a total of three car sales. The Dodge Dart was last built before in 2016 and the stock for various dealerships might contain the Dodge Dart from 2016 or even earlier. The Dart nameplate first came out back in the 1960s and saw its first-run end in 1976. Interested to find a ride that is absolutely in stock today? Dodge reported they will add a new Charger and Challenger limited-edition cars with the “Swinger” nameplate. Largely like the new limited-time Shakedown and Super Bee Limited Editions revealed recently, the Swingers will be Scat Pack versions of the cars with special-edition perks and options. Dodge is showcasing the seven “Last Call” special editions that will be released ahead of its EV muscle car in 2024. We have also learned about theall-new Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid that will be a hot item once production begins.
New Special Edition Dodge Muscle Cars Keep Comin’!
We’re excited to witness yet another new special edition; the 2023 Swinger Challenger and Swinger Charger are the third and fourth special editions announced so far in 2022. This news is arriving off the recently disclosed Challenger Shakedown and Charger Super Bee special editions. The Swinger name was taken from the famed 1969 Dodge Dart. Both Swinger options are set to be sold in both the Widebody variant and with Dodge’s Scat Pack. Owners gain a 485-horsepower 6.4-Liter V8 powertrain. Dodge is making these special editions exclusively limited to only 2,000 of these vehicles; 1,000 per muscle nameplate and this is the amount expected for each special edition. These are unique rides that are expected to gain a lot of attention before Dodge moves into its EV movement starting next year.
Inside the Special Edition Packages
These new special editions come with these unique appearance packages that serve as a modern design based on the 1970s-era creation. They will arrive finished with badges, lush interior design including green-on-green exterior colors with gold accents and green stitching on the chairs, dash, center console, and steering wheel. Exterior paint options are F8 Green, Sublime Green, or White Knuckle, and a special “Gold School” badging will feature on the exterior to pair with a retro graphic on the rear fender. The Challenger Swinger will arrive with its sleek gold-painted Shaker intake hood and top-tier perks uncovered in the new 2023 Charger and Challenger muscle car alternatives.
Drive the Last Call Vehicles While They Are Here
For those expecting to see the whole set of the Dodge brand’s Last Call special editions, the next two special editions are coming on September 14th and 21st, 2022. The last and final “Last Call” edition will be shown during the 2022 SEMA show in November, Stellantis added in a statement to the press. Dodge has not announced any outlet on the prices on any of the special editions as it stands today, but the company reported the pricing would be released via dealership allotment particulars along with when orders should be ready for the Scat Pack Swingers and the rest of the Last Call muscle cars. The new electric muscle car will be made as a production vehicle. We’re game for all the newest Dodge muscle cars!

The Dodge Hornet nameplate first reached the public display at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show as a thoughtful and forward-thinking concept for a crossover. With a boxy design that was all the rage among buyers at the time, a future production version was never produced, until late last year in 2021. Today, new spy photographs reveal a new glimpse of one under development on the road in Detroit. The Hornet we see entering production looks nothing like the original concept from 2006. But, interesting to note how some parallels are noted to its Alfa Romeo Tonale Stellantis sibling. Allow us to breakdown what we have learned in recent months about the forthcoming Dodge Hornet crossover SUV product set to debut in less than a year. This summer might be ending, but before summer closes we’ll learn about an all-new Dodge collection nearing debut.
A Hornet Buzzes This Way
Dodge has placed a strong emphasis on producing a new ride on the preferred platform. Concerning the forthcoming Dodge Hornet, a similar fascia with inlets at each corner with a space in the center resembling a trapezoidal figure is expected. There’s a slim grille in the center of the vehicle’s front and a larger opening above it. The headlights are narrow and have tapered edges. Complete with its arching roofline and curved window on the rear hatchback that supports the Hornet crossover from looking too square. The descending part of the window on the rear door has an upward projection. The wheels on this vehicle appear to be the same ones that the Tonale sports. The spy images also reveal the Hornet carries a gorgeous spoiler on the roof, and a place for outlines on the sides of the window. On each side, there rest three rectangular tail lights.
Growing Powertrain Possibilities?
Regarding the Hornet’s engine options for the Hornet are allegedly the exact ones as what the Tonale delivers. In the United States, this is the trusted 1.3-Liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor powering the rear axle for a complete system output of 272 horsepower. A 15.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack provides more than 30 miles of a driving range. Should the Hornet also have the Tonale’s full motor lineup, then the Hornet will arrive with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain that supports 256 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. In Europe, the Alfa has two 1.5-liter mild-hybrid powertrains and a diesel option.
Another relation between the Hornet and the Tonale will be their production site. Both will arrive from the Pomigliano d’Arco Assembly Plant in Italy. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has authorized the small crossover to be assigned to arrive at some point later in 2022. Will this vehicle have some EV capabilities? We’ve covered this before, but learn even more after a visit to Miami Lakes Automall!

We are looking forward to the Dodge brand offering a sneak peek at the future of their brand with monumental launches on August 15th-17th, 2022. The first day, August 15th will be the reveal for a new creation that will be shown; a new era of EVs we’ve all been lingering for will be revealed! This day will mark the first live arrival of the next-generation Dodge muscle vehicle. The next day, on August 16th, the Dodge gateway muscle product is promised with the last day, August 17th, 2022, will show the result of years of planning. During the live debut that looks ahead to the future muscle products coming down the tube, there will be a short Q and A. This is a wonderful time to herald the inception of a full-fledged EV lineup that will cause the market to take note.
Reasons To Believe In the Hornet
A considerable share of belief has been made for the all-new Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV prospect that is bearing aspects from fellow Stellantis brand, the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The Tonale comes with PHEV components and rides with a 1.3-Liter four-cylinder motor that is connected to an electric engine with a connected rear axle measure to secure the engine. The Hornet was first and last shown back at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. Back then, this Hornet was cast as a memorable concept for a new crossover. The 2006 Hornet was built with a box design that was widespread among customers back in the day. A future production version was never completed, until last year when we learned of the spy shots that indeed delivered what Dodge had been working on.
“There’s no better place to unveil a new performance direction for the Dodge brand than right on Woodward Avenue in metro Detroit, with tens of thousands of our closest fans and friends. We introduced our two-year Never Lift road map last year at Roadkill Nights, and this year the event will serve as the prelude to going wide open throttle on Never Lift. All I can say is the future of our brand will be on display during Dodge Speed Week, and we’re throwing open our garage doors so our fans can get a peek for themselves. It’s going to be an electric summer for Dodge,” stated Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge.
Production Nears For Dodge EVs
The Dodge Hornet nameplate first reached the masses all the way since the 2006 Geneva Motor Show as a unique concept for a crossover. With a box design that was favored among customers at the time, a future production version was never completed, until last year in 2021. Recently, new spy photographs display a new peek of one under development on the streets of Detroit. The Hornet that will go into production looks nothing like the initial concept from 2006.
