Dodge is happy to see one thing that has not taken place since the Dodge Challenger was first returned to the fold for customers in 2008. The Dodge Challenger finished 2021 atop every other muscle car in the segment to finish in first place above of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. This is impressive as the CEO of Dodge Tim Kuniskis has stated this is due to the Dodge brand understanding the computer chip drought would hit sales, but working around the issue. Dodge has put in a tremendous investment with $22 billion added and placed into the business. The Ford Mustang hit its stride way back in 2015 and hasn’t maintained with the components that have established Dodge ultimately ahead of its most considerable competitor. The rival Camaro barely sold cars in 2021, placing third on the list with less than half what the Dodge Challenger sold.
“That’s why I said we don’t wake up trying to chase Mustang and Camaro. Not that I don’t think they’re viable competitors. They’re phenomenal cars; they’re just different cars. They’re different than what we’re trying to do,” Kuniskis disclosed to Automotive News.
Dodge Is Making Their Mark
Dodge is creating their company to sustain their large Dodge family, their closest fans, and biggest advocates. The purpose is to offer more choices and being able to customize their rides with tons of help by way of new options. Want a striking color? How about a fresh appearance package? There are lots of ways to get the choice that fits just right for owners. More than just a trim set, the Dodge brand has made customers happy by allowing them to be themselves and design the vehicle they really want. Not to mention, the strength and handling for the Challenger is better than it has ever been. Dodge has plenty of decades of experience crafting fast vehicles, some of them were not allowed by NASCAR even.
Rival Brands Are Behind Dodge In 2022
For customers on the market, they will find that the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro offer less choices and sell less alternatives of choices. The “L” or “T” trim from the rival brands don’t really sound as stunning as a “Hellcat Redeye” or “Scat Pack” option. This is just one of the perks that has kept dedication among the Dodge brand and its fanatics. While we await the upcoming EV oath being built for a 2024 model year and production run, we will see Dodge offer a new wave of new options and alternatives for customers to love and embrace. With the future of the Dodge brand moving towards electric vehicles, 2021 might go down as one of the fastest flying years on record, along with the record amount of Atlantic tropical storms. After last year’s seemingly never-ending to now being in the last season before 2022, we’ve come quite a long way. And during this whole experience, the Dodge brand has earned results to inspire buyers while hoisting another award. This time the trophy comes from the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study that lists Dodge as the brand that finishes second on a list that includes all the top automotive brands. Dodge won the top spot last year and isn’t far off this year. A 223-question study was given to new car owners who felt the most positive and pleasant initial encounter was with these brands. Each year, this survey helps new car shoppers reflect on their experience with a vehicle over the course of the first few months of ownership.
“If you start with strong design, and follow that up with discipline on the plant floor, you get the kind of results we’re seeing today,” metro Detroit native Mark Champine, head of North America customer experience at Stellantis, said in a news release.
Into the Numbers of 2021 J.D. Power’s IQS
Each year, this J.D. Power survey helps new car shoppers reflect on their experience with a vehicle over the course of the first few months of ownership (the first ninety days of ownership to be specific). This is when problems should least likely appear and buyers want to know what to expect; if any problems appear, what they liked most, and other important aspects of purchasing a vehicle. Based on the problems listed per 100 vehicles, the system includes ways to gauge gain information on serious mechanical issues to problems with the infotainment system. Dodge owners only experience 139 complaints per 100 vehicles. The survey includes tens of thousands of responses each year. A big issue is smartphone connectivity across many brands.
“They’ve done a particularly good job of preventing problems from occurring. The key is design quality. Most of the problems people report are not because vehicles aren’t built properly. The majority of problems are because vehicles aren’t designed properly or with the customer in mind. Often, the factories get the rough end of this. There is a problem with the navigation system, for instance. The assembly plants are responsible just for installing it into the vehicle. It’s not their fault the navigation system doesn’t work,” said David Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power, told the Free Press.

There’s a new Dodge club for owners of Dodge muscle cars, the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. Dodge has made some of the most powerful muscle cars ever made, and their newest line-up has taken the drag racing scene to new heights. With their latest technology and craftsmanship, and to celebrate their fans love and affinity for their heart-racing premier vehicles, Dodge has introduced an all-new 1320 Club. This club provides a way for those Dodge owners to show off their admiration of these muscle cars in a new way. Let’s get into the specifics and requirements needed to join.
A Closer Look at the New 1320 Club
Dodge has made the fastest production cars in their storied Challenger and Charger history. Now, for the first time ever, owners of both of those vehicles can become members of the new 1320 Club and challenge other owners to best all previous results and gain a spot on the Stock or Modified 1320 Club Leaderboard. There are some requirements, but most importantly the 1320 Club is free to U.S. and Canadian owners of late model Dodge Challengers (2008 – current) and Dodge Chargers (2006 – current). Once signed up, new members will be asked to make a public profile displaying their vehicle, sign the safe racing pledge and have access to reflect on entries, enter time slips for consideration and approval, locate a distinct drag strip to race at, visit current racing competitions, read articles and earn their own digital and physical achievement badges to show off.
What To Expect In the 1320 Club
Dodge owners will be able to test their skill and see how quick their vehicle is. The 1320 Club works jointly with the Dodge Garage, the Dodge brand’s digital content center for racing and car enthusiasts, and to provide supplementary parts to improve performance and make any Dodge vehicle perform better and quicker.
“The 1320 Club provides our Dodge brand enthusiasts with an exclusive online destination to record and share their official quarter-mile achievements within the drag racing community. With more Dodge brand enthusiasts than ever wanting to be part of our ‘brotherhood of muscle,’ the addition of the 1320 Club to the Dodge Garage further expands the ultimate digital content hub where muscle car and race enthusiasts can find the latest on all things Dodge, SRT, and Mopar.” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.
Show Off Dodge Pride #SaveYourSlips
Driver’s can showcase physical achievement badges on their Dodge vehicles. Performance badges and decals will be made in gray for Stock or red for Modified. Stock or Modified badges that can be earned are the following:
Quarter mile time ET // Extending from 8.0 to 13.9 seconds
0-60 ft time // Extending from 1.4 to 2.0 seconds
Top speed // Varying from 105 to 170 mph
Signing Up Is Easy!
Simply create and account at DodgeGarage.com to register. There’s a brand-new 1320 Club landing page that allow users to sign up, confirm they have a proper Dodge muscle vehicle to participate by providing the vehicle VIN number, vehicle year, model and trim level. All entries will be evaluated and validated by Dodge Garage administrators. Every entry must be approved and after that is confirmed, new members will receive an email authenticating their level of achievement.
Achievement badges are joined to all Dodge Garage profiles and are encouraged to be shared on social media. (They’re pretty cool, if we do say so.) Decals will be available to be purchased so they can be displayed on their respective vehicle. Once a 1320 Club decal is purchased, members gain an exclusive 1320 Club hat and new toolboxes complete with daily updates, curating muscle car and racing enthusiast content from across the automotive Dodge universe and more.
Remember the Oath
It’s important to remember the oath 1320 Club members will sign. The Dodge brand will never support any form of street racing. All submissions must be from a race administered at a sanctioned race facility for safety purposes.

Searching for that fantastic muscle car to make a difference and bring some exhilberance for the daily commute? The first units of the new 797-horsepower 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye are now rolling off the production line. Production of these new models just started in October 2018 at the FCA US Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, and now they’re ready to go. There’s no shortage of vehicles for this run, unlike the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon limited run of just 3,300 vehicles produced. While many of the parts of the latest SRT Hellcat Redeye are made up of the SRT Demon, this vehicle is considered more appealing for everyday driving.
What Makes Up the SRT Hellcat Redeye?
The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 engine, derived from the record-setting 2018 Challenger SRT Demon provides 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, that makes the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye easily the most robust, responsive and fastest muscle car available from Dodge today. Unbelievable performance includes 0-60 mph acceleration in 3.4 seconds, a quarter-mile time of just 10.8 seconds at 131 mph, and a ridiculously quick top speed of 203 mph. So where else has the SRT Demon influenced the Redeye? The Demon’s Torque Reserve, factory SRT power chiller and factory after-run chiller, that help to calm the powerful V8 engine, are all a part of the newest Dodge muscle car. There’s also the same large supercharger engine, high-speed connecting rods, pistons and valvetrain that were taken from the special SRT Demon and added to push the SRT Hellcat Redeye unlike any other Hellcat made.
More on the Incredible Redeye
A distinctive look for the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye includes a new fully functional, dual-snorkel hood that pays homage to the distinctive Dodge design themes from some of its most well-known muscle cars. Owners of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye will receive new badging, including a sinister red eye featured on the Hellcat fender badges, instrument panel, key fobs, and supercharger housing. Inside, the performance interior features a new 220-mph red speedometer and Redeye logo splash screen.
There are few muscle cars that can keep up with the unique Redeye, and the only muscle cars that can tend to cost more than double the price of the new SRT Hellcat Redeye. In fact, if the name of the vehicle doesn’t include the word “Demon”, chances are there’s no way any driver will be able to match the speed offered by the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Customers won’t believe their eyes when they see the starting price is only $71,045 MSRP (plus destination fee). The latest Dodge Challenger SRT muscle car makes its way to dealerships very soon in fall 2018.

Thinking of buying a pre-owned vehicle? Wondering what new vehicle would run best in a few years? Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is pleased to be acknowledged by J.D. Power with several vehicles receiving the 2018 Resale Value Award, considering the best resale value measured for 24 model-level vehicle segments. The Ram pickup trucks gained the highest resale value in the entire industry, but they weren’t the only FCA brand named.
The Dodge Challenger, Charger and Jeep® Wrangler won in their individual segments for having exceptional resale value. Among the awards won by the four FCA vehicles, the Highest Resale Value Industry-wide award went to the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty, Highest Resale Value Midsize Sporty Car segment was awarded to the Dodge Challenger, the Dodge Charger won the Highest Resale Value Large Car segment award, and the award for the Highest Resale Value Compact SUV segment went to the Jeep Wrangler JK. The process has changed since inception, but we’ll get into all the details and the vehicles that won below.
Overview of the Award Process
J.D. Power has been around since 1968, and J.D. Power helps owners make better-informed choices. In 2018, exactly 244 vehicle models were evaluated during the J.D. Power Resale Value Study, involving a sample of over 650,000 deals with an average of 3,500 data points valued on each vehicle. The award determination method applies pre-owned vehicle wholesale figures that outline how much a dealer purchases a used vehicle for. The prices are then divided by the vehicle’s initial purchase price. These assessments are based on wholesale records from January through June 2018 for vehicles that are three years old – the 2015 model year.
The Rush of the Dodge Challenger Is Incredible
Looking into the latest Dodge Challenger muscle car lineup built by Dodge, and consumers can feel the horsepower of Street Racing Technology (SRT) with their SRT Hellcat vehicles. The newest 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye thrives with a muscular, electric 797 horsepower engine. The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat raises the horsepower yet again this year by producing 717 horsepower, and both Hellcat models obtain a distinct dual-snorkel hood that gives tribute to the most popular Dodge muscle cars, including the 1970 Dart Swinger and 1971 Demon.
For drivers that enjoy the wicked Widebody models, they will find added fender flares, increasing the body width by 3.5 inches, 20 x 11-inch forged wheels, 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires, and larger six-piston Brembo brakes. Consumers can add this appearance package to the SRT Hellcat or R/T Scat Pack. The new Challenger GT rear-wheel-drive model continues its performance capabilities with standard Super Track Pak features, a performance hood, and is powered by the legendary 3.6-Liter Pentastar V6 engine.
Eight separate models make up the reconfigured vehicle lineup for 2019 – the SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye. Various option packages extend upgrades, showcasing new features and supply exhilaration on demand. The Challenger offers a comprehensive range of motor options, including the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 on SXT, SXT AWD, GT and GT AWD models, the superb 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 in the R/T models, the naturally aspirated 392 HEMI V-8 on R/T Scat Pack models, the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 on the SRT Hellcat, and a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 on the SRT Hellcat Redeye. Some serious speed is expected for owners to embrace and enjoy.
Drive the Fastest Dodge Charger Yet
The Dodge Charger has four seats, unlike the Challenger coupe, and is the fastest four-door muscle car produced. Remarkable performance matched with standard V6 efficiency and available all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities, the Dodge Charger lineup is produced and masterminded to accommodate the latest in high-performance enjoyment. The Dodge Charger provides optional all-wheel-drive, but rear-wheel-drive (RWD) is standard across the lineup, highlighted by the unrestricted performance-driven powertrains under the hood. The standard being the exceptional 3.6-Liter Pentastar V6 on Charger SXT, SXT AWD and GT, the wonderful 5.7-Liter HEMI V8 on R/T models, the striking 392 HEMI V8 on R/T Scat Pack models, and the 707 horsepower 6.2-Liter supercharged HEMI SRT Hellcat V8. Standard on each Dodge Charger model is an eight-speed automatic transmission.
For 2019, Dodge added a fresh Charger SXT AWD model and a new Charger GT RWD performance V6 model. Dodge Charger GT and R/T models get the performance look and feature standards, and receive sleek race-bred chassis upgrades. The Charger SRT Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack feature standard performance upgrades, including Launch Assist and Line Lock; a new performance grille with dual air inlets; new Launch Control switch on R/T Scat Pack; and Torque Reserve and an After-Run Chiller on the SRT Hellcat. It’s clear to see why the Charger received its award. The 2018 Dodge Charger starts at $28,995 MSRP (plus destination fee.)
See The World Through A Jeep Wrangler
Every Jeep® Wrangler provides the most durable and off-road ready drive. Seven decades of 4×4 engineering expertise go into the Wrangler. 10,000th Dodge Officer Protection Package was recently shipped. The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) collaboration with InterMotive, Inc. is a special product built for law enforcement agencies. Enhanced Dodge Durango SUVs and Dodge Charger muscle cars have FCA’s Fleet Safety Group technology added and aid police officers everyday. Let’s go over some of the helpful high tech developed by InterMotive that has enhanced law enforcement safety and some of the perks these special FCA vehicles carry.
Superior Police Vehicles Shipped
Taking a look into the latest Dodge Charger Pursuit police sedan, law enforcement gain the help of InterMotive surveillance mode module technology and the assistance helpful tracking measures that will warn the officers of possible dangers. This is due to the Dodge engineering and FCA’s Fleet Safety Group technology. Combined with the ParkSense rear park assist system and ParkView rear backup camera, any movement behind the vehicle is detected and relayed to the driver.
“The Officer Protection Package is the latest layer of safety to be built into our Charger Pursuit. We knew it was the right thing to do for all the men and women who protect us on a daily basis, and we are gratified to know that over 10,000 of these heroes now have a better chance of avoiding rear ambush occurrences. I’m also pleased to announce that we will continue to offer this package free of charge on our 2019 model-year Dodge Charger Pursuits,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT – FCA North America.
How the System Works
Research and development from FCA debuted this sensitive system in 2018 to detect movement and immediately alert those inside the cruiser of the potential danger. This allows officers to look at anything happening behind the vehicle with the help of the live camera monitor. The live camera view is turned on if the sensors go off. If the sensors are set off, law enforcement can choose to lock all doors, automatically raise the front windows, turn the rear lights on and flash all taillights. This technology provides a few extra seconds for police to assess and react to any situation happening. No longer will law enforcement have to worry about a potential ambush attack, potentially saving lives in the process.

Sports vehicles attempt to gain an edge when they race, and a vehicle with more weight to haul is simply at a disadvantage. Aside from being lighter with a shorter vehicle length, as well as having less seating for more guests, two seaters are just more convenient. Typically, drivers that go with a two-seat option don’t need the extra room. A fast vehicle owner won’t need the room because they probably won’t be going at very high speeds with anyone else in the vehicle and certainly not with kids in the vehicle. However, for those that drive alone more often than not, that’s where the fun of having a sports or muscle vehicle draws interest.
So, many coupe and muscle cars don’t come with rear seats, but why is that? Simply put, there’s more weight savings with two doors versus four doors typically. Why should a vehicle be held back by extra seats? That’s just unnecessary weight. Equally important, two doors create a more rigid and lightweight structure, and that’s not to discount that the aesthetic look of a muscle vehicle or sports car just look better with two doors. Plus, a smaller vehicle has a better turning radius and helps sharpen and quicken the steering for drivers. This is due to most two-door vehicles having a shorter wheelbase. Two-door sports cars are easier to park and handle overall as well.
How Do Insurance Companies Define Sports Cars
Every insurance company defines a sports car slightly differently, but most of the time, having two doors is the first thing they look at. Engine size, height and weight are other factors that are considered. Two door cars are deemed less safe because they are smaller. Sports cars are also lower to the ground traditionally. From the look of the sports car compared to a sedan vehicle, there’s an obvious difference. Usually the longer look would be found with a sedan, compared to a sport cars car. Sedans might have a broader appeal than coupes or tighter sports cars, but there’s a market that sports and muscle vehicles have.
Muscle and sports cars tap into the excitement that is generated with each start of the engine by the driver. Drivers of smaller vehicles know they can move faster than larger vehicles and this is especially true of the muscle and sports car variety. When considering a vehicle to buy, consider cargo space, trunk room and whether or not you want to have slower or faster vehicle performance. Vehicles like a 2018 Dodge Challenger or 2019 Chevy Corvette are extremely fun and fast to drive. If you haven’t driven one, now is your chance.

Aren’t tailgating parties fun? And no, for those that were previously unaware, it’s not a party where a bunch of cars tailgate one another like ants. A tailgate party is actually a social event that takes place usually before or after a game of sports, like football, in or around the stadium or arena where the game takes place. Many people will park in one location, usually around a main center area where people will set up grills for barbecue, provide alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and whatever else to add to the good times. Most consumers may think a truck or an SUV is the perfect solution, especially with the RamBox Cargo Management System, but when it comes to big parties, minivans might work just as well.
Tailgating With the Dodge Grand Caravan
Yes, it’s a minivan, but the Dodge Grand Caravan was practically made for tailgating. Mainly, we’re talking about the Grand Caravan SXT trim, with a starting MSRP of $31,750* that has the third row Stow ‘n Go tailgate seats. Yeah, that’s right – the second row and third row Stow ‘n Go seats may be standard across the lineup, but the 60/40 Stow ‘n Go split-bench double as tailgate seats in the Grand Caravan SXT. Simply flip the seats back, and that’s two front-row seats to the tailgate party.
Then there’s food, beverages, and party favors. Where can we keep all of this stuff? Depending on the party guests, thanks to the Stow ‘n Go seats that also double as split-benches, we can load up one or both sides of the Dodge Grand Caravan. With the second and third-rows stowed away, a total of 140 cubic-feet of free space opens up. That’s enough for a cooler or two, some sports gear and party favors, even a stereo for sick beats if looking to provide some music without draining the car battery.
The 2018 Dodge Durango Pursuit was unveiled not too long ago, May 2018, and it was another welcomed vehicle by police and law enforcement officers (LEOs). Like the Dodge Charger Pursuit, the Dodge Durango Pursuit was tailored as a vehicle for the police force. Evildoers will want to think twice about their next high-speed chase – Powered by a HEMI V8 engine, the Dodge Durango Pursuit may as well be a battering ram. Now, with 2019 details having been leaked for the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, Dodge debuted the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit at the National Sheriffs Association Show.
For the 2018 and 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit models, the powertrain is made up of a 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both model years also come with the same standard all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) to handle all types of terrain. If things get a little bumpy, the 2018 and 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit are outfitted with a two-speed transfer case for true low-range off-road capability. The 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit also offers a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine option for 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and a highway fuel economy of 25 mpg versus 22 mpg on the highway with the 360hp 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine.
The body and chassis of the Dodge Durango also received modifications for its entrance exam into the police academy. For instance, the 2018 Dodge Durango Pursuit includes the segment’s longest wheelbase (119.8 inches) to provide added stability and improved handling, 8.1 inches of ground clearance, and larger, heavy-duty anti-lock brakes. Assuming these changes carry over to the 2019 model, the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit has a pursuit-rated brake package that features 13.8-inch rotors up front and 13-inch units in the rear for impressive stopping power.
Back in 2017 when the Dodge brand released the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, it was definitely a pinnacle of achievement for a factory-manufactured vehicle. Outfitted with a a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V8 engine modified with over 90 new parts, the engine had the ability to generate up to 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque with a little 100+ high octane fuel. Since then, many wondered what was next for Dodge. At the same time, Chevrolet and other brands kept claiming they could beat the Dodge SRT Demon. For every brand that swats at the “fastest car title,” Dodge swats back.
2019 Dodge Challenger
For those who thought the Demon was it for the Dodge Challenger, don’t worry just yet. A teaser for the 2019 Dodge Challenger was released in May 2018, with more details being revealed in the summer. The teaser showed us a new design for the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that gives the muscle car a new retro dual-snorkel hood scoop inspired by classic Mopar designs to pay tribute to its heritage way back when the Dodge Challenger first began. The first-generation Dodge Challenger featured the Dodge Challenger Trans Am, or T/A for short, and we think the revival of the T/A for recent Dodge Challenger model years may be linked to bringing back the retro look for the new 2019 Dodge Challenger.
The new hood scoop will also be functional, said to feed air into the supercharger lurking underneath. More air means more power, and of course bigger competition. Enter the next-gen Chevrolet Corvette.
