A Dodge Dakota pickup would probably surprise many, especially if brought back as an EV, but we can say for some buyers today, the amount of electric vehicles coming out is perhaps something to take note in terms of expectations that gasoline cars, trucks, and SUVs are being phased slowly out. By 2030, expect as many as half of vehicles on the road to have some electrified capacity and that number will grow even higher by 2040. 

Dodge has made it their business to create performance-oriented vehicles and has carved out a unique car manufacturer fanbase. The brand still has a full-throttle gasoline lineup of powerful, incredibly fast performance rides, more than any brand for Stellantis. The Hellcat are a trim for every Dodge vehicle including the muscle duo of the Dodge Charger and Challenger as well as the Dodge Durango SUV that supplies the Hellcat trim bonuses that crank out the highest horsepower and torque, making each among the fastest vehicles in their individual segments. Now, could Dodge look to bring a former nameplate to help create revenue in an old segment they currently don’t occupy? That being true, Dodge doesn’t have any set plans to make a Dakota pickup, but that won’t hinder graphic artists from creating images that sometimes gain attention from fans and Dodge might begin to notice eventually and perhaps make a concept of demand hits a fever pitch. Dodge gave the Dakota nameplate to Stellantis brand brother Ram, but that doesn’t run out the possibility; at least in the United States at some point. 

Mid-Size Option To Be Had
Regarding the mid-size pickup market that the Dodge brand currently doesn’t tap into any longer, but some believe this could be an area Dodge ventures into. Rendering a more traditional ‘Dodge Ram Dakota with an “SRT” flare, artists render images that displayed the digital versions of the classic Ram 1500 mixed with the Dakota pickup truck. Would Dodge come up with a supercharged 6.2-Liter HEMI Hellcat V8 engine in a Durango-based pickup? This is the thought behind such a reinvention to create a supercharger truck. Our readers should know the coming changes to the Dodge brand probably won’t be like this, but what if? 

Possibility of a Dodge Dakota Hellcat?

We’ve recently witnessed a different CGI take by a virtual automotive artist that brought his vision for the Dodge Ram Dakota Hellcat mixed with Ramcharger V8 SUV. Keep in mind, the first version of the Dodge Ramcharger was a full-size two-door SUV competing with the likes of the contemporary Chevy K5 Blazer and Ford Bronco.

With a long production run from 1974 through 1993 in the United States and in Mexico with a third-generation built running from 1999-2001 created on the short wheelbase Dodge D Series/Ram pickup truck platform. Stellantis as part of their portfolio can say they built a Plymouth Trail Duster sibling, the latter brand’s only SUV.

Will Dodge go out of their way to produce a new kind of pickup to add another choice to their Hellcat? They can certainly try to begin a run at the pickup segment, but only time will show if they can put this as an option on a new successful run. but if there’s one thing we know, that pickup will be the fastest among the pickup industry, no doubt. The height for the Dakota was at the beginning of the century as the vehicle sold as much as 177,394 vehicles in 2000 alone. The Ram brand had put out a version of the Dakota found in some Middle Eastern countries as the Ram 1200.
