Dodge Is Set To Offer Three New Muscle Car Trims Before Long

More new Dodge muscle is coming out of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (Soon to be known as Stellantis) before long. The future of the Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle car models will have three new additions. FCA has struck a three-year deal with a Canadian auto workers union, known as Unifor, to produce these three new variants of the Dodge Charger and Challenger. FCA has put together a new $50 million investment into the Brampton Assembly factory. There will be an influence of new trims to generate some energy into the Dodge brand.

Dodge Prepares For New Muscle Trim Options

Dodge generated quite a stir when it came out with the Street Racing Technology (SRT) Hellcat trim in 2015. The Challenger was the first Dodge to gain the SRT Hellcat and it was added to the Charger soon after, followed by the Dodge Durango this year. Dodge sought to push the envelope even further when it brought out the SRT Demon and SRT Hellcat Redeye. A new SRT Super Stock came out this year and for the foreseeable future, we think Dodge will eventually offer a new Barracuda trim for one, if not both muscle cars. Dodge also put together two new Widebody trim options for customers to choose from. The trim might be known as the Cuda, as FCA has listed for a trademark for Cuda. This nameplate would be a return for the Dodge brand, as the Barracuda was produced decades ago and ended in 1974.

Dodge Will Create New Trims Shortly

The arrangement FCA put together will forge together a multi-energy vehicle architecture that is set to offer new plug-in hybrid and new electric vehicles and building the batteries used with those EVs. The Windsor Assembly Plant will create around 2,000 jobs for FCA’s Canadian division. The retooling for the plant will help the brand build and produce these new EVs and the entire investment is supposed to be approximately $1.35 billion.

“FCA has maintained a strong footprint in Canada for nearly a century. Over the last decade, we have invested over $4 billion in our Canadian manufacturing facilities, more than any other OEM in the country and it is our intention to maintain this leadership,” said Mark Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of FCA North America.

Dodge is letting the public know some brand new pricing for the 2021 Dodge Challenger, including the new Challenger Drag Pak. This is the prize of all muscle cars; thanks to its high-octane, top-tier engineering abilities that have made Dodge so awarded and celebrated for decades. The speed is also something most people know Dodge brings to the table with every muscle car they offer. Dodge recently revealed the Drag Pak will cost over $140,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee). While that number is high, we can help explain the perks that have made the cost relatively reasonable considering what the vehicle offers. The 2021 Dodge Challenger will also carry two new trims including two new Widebody options for the T/A 392 R/T Scat Pack Shaker.

Each new trim is equipped with a more vibrant styling and have advanced performance found under the hood. Drivers will enjoy the powerful naturally aspirated 6.4-Liter 392 HEMI engine. With the Widebody treatment, the 3.5-inch growth to increase the width of the vehicle helps generate excellent turning ability and a more reliable grip when driving. The length improved the Dodge add the wider 20-by-11 inch wheels that carry 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires. Drivers can expect to go quicker and produce more satisfying times at the drag strip with either of these new entries to the Challenger family.

R/T Scat Pack Widebody Is Here

So, exactly how much improvement will an owner notice with the Widebody option? The R/T Scat Pack is approximately two seconds faster, which is about 12 car lengths faster compared to the non-Widebody form. The quarter-mile time is quick fast at its 12.1-second mark at a top speed of 112 mph, running a faster time than the non-Widebody version by a little less than half a second. The improvements for the Widebody are found with its SRT-tuned chassis and high-performance adaptive damping suspension. Additional perks come in the form of its dual-extractor hood, SRT Performance Pages, and the ability to engage the front brakes but the rear wheels are able to showcase a tire-smoking burnout because of the Line Lock feature that is added.

Owners will have the flare that is nostalgic of the 1970 Challenger R/T complete with the Shaker hood and SHAKER underhood decal. The R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody brings an engine-mounted hood scoop that looks the part of pure muscle as the added Mopar cold-air intake improves airflow to the engine. The conical air filter with an optimized airbox will also provide improved performance. Customers can drive home the 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody for $47,690 MSRP (Plus destination fee). Order books are currently open, with the first deliveries registered to begin at the start of 2021.

Ride the T/A 392

The 2021 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 is the other new trim choice that carries the Widebody offering. Dodge took cues from the first 1970 Challenger T/A, adding a new design within its Satin Black hood, wrap roof, and deck lid. The look is finished with its T/A body-side stripes, a sleek black spoiler with a T/A decal, a “392” fender decal, and Air Catcher headlamps with LED-illuminated T/A logos. The interior provides a 1970’s styled gauge cluster with highlighted white concave faces and black, glossy detailing. Black upholstered performance seating with cloth inserts concluded the sharp look. The T/A 392 trim can be had for
$49,090 MSRP (Plus destination fee). This trim is not available for purchase yet, but soon they will be, and deliveries will start during the spring of 2021. Both of these trims carry the impressive 392 HEMI V8 powertrain that offers 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque with rear-wheel-drive paired to a standard six-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic transmission. Dodge Sells More Muscle Cars Than Ford and Chevrolet In Quarter Three of 2020

While 2020 has been a down year for all automotive companies due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the good news is the tide is turning. The third-quarter results for 2020 have helped Dodge notice just how strong sales were for the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger among customers. The latest results have the Dodge brand happy as the numbers reflect the Dodge muscle car lineup has done better than rival brands flagship cars, including the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette. This is big news and Dodge is only aiming at improving its muscle car variety as well as coming out with a few surprises for customers to close out 2020.

Dodge Looks To Only Get Better

Dodge has publicly stated their numbers would be even better if the Coronavirus didn’t hit, naturally. But, when speaking out about the success Dodge has seen, there is one driving force behind the brand. Their goal is to move Dodge ahead of the rest of the manufacturers trying to create a buzz with new tricks to attract buyers (looks at the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette).  The Charger sold 23,547 vehicles with 16,332 Challenger vehicles sold. The Ford Mustang only sold 13,851 vehicles, down 18 percent from last year, unlike the Dodge Charger (only down 10%). Chevrolet only sold 6,355 Corvette vehicles in the third-quarter.

“We only publish total (quarterly) numbers. But if you look inside the numbers at true retail sales to real customers and not to rental car agencies, Charger and Challenger had the best September they’ve ever had in the history of the cars,” added Tim Kuniskis, head of FCA passenger cars

Awards and What Customers Can Expect From Dodge

Dodge recently earned awards from J. D. Power from its APEAL Study across all 2020 model year vehicles. The results look to be the same or better for the 2021 model year as the Dodge muscle car lineup will extend its SRT Hellcat nameplate to the Dodge Durango for the first time ever. The Dodge brand has seen the Hellcat trim hit new retail sales marks never before reached. The 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock is the fastest production car on the market today and the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is the quickest sedan any customers can buy. These are the perks that Dodge has built and made for customers to appreciate. The hard work has not gone unnoticed as from the top executives down to the dealerships, Dodge knows the choices they have offered for customers still generate excitement.

“(The third-quarter of 2020) was also the best Hellcat month in like three years, and the best Scat Pack month in the history of the nameplate. The cars are working, and it’s working because customers are gravitating to the spirit of the brand and the attitude of the brand,” said Kuniskis.

Hennessey Performance Built A 1,000 Horsepower Dodge Durango

Hellcat Miami Lakes Automall

The 2021 Dodge Durango will arrive as a rejuvenated vehicle with a new trim that will only be offered for one year; the all-new SRT Hellcat trim. This is the first time the three-row SUV will offer a Hellcat trim for customers, which might come as a surprise. Before the addition of the trim, the Durango offered the fastest SUV speeds in the segment. Now with the introduction of the SRT Hellcat trim, Dodge adds the incredible power of the 6.2-Liter turbocharged engine and all the comfort and luxury that comes standard with the top Durango trim. However, for one company the strength of 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque was not nearly enough despite its offering of best-in-class performance. What company could possibly exceed the capabilities Dodge just added to the Durango?

Leave It To Hennessey Performance To Make A Hellcat Faster

For many years now, the Hennessey Performance team, a Texas-based tuning company, has created a platform to turn any vehicle into a 1,000 horsepower machine. Hennessey Performance is responsible for birthing the 1,000 horsepower Jeep Gladiator Maximus and the immensely strong 1,200 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is now the latest vehicle to gain the Hennessey Performance treatment. Keep in mind, this is the first time any three-row SUV has been created to exceed the three-digit horsepower mark. While Hennessey Performance has built some remarkable vehicles to go way over the production horsepower allotment, they have never made a Durango faster or stronger.

Pushing the Limits of Dodge Engineering

Well-known for its achievements across the Dodge vehicle lineup, including the Dodge Viper, Charger, and Challenger, this is the first time they work on a new Durango and help it surpass the exclusive +1,000 horsepower mark at 1,012 horsepower. They had experience working on an SUV with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but this is a bit different. The newly added HPE1000 supercharger upgrade kit for the Durango SRT has increased the raw strength that allows for 969 ft-lb of torque and it will have the same measurements as the aforementioned Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The speed of the Durango will definitely be increased. The adjusted Trackhawk went from 0-60 mph at warp speed in only 2.6 seconds! We anticipate comparable figures for the Durango SRT Hellcat. (Now that’s wicked speed)

Still Impressed By the Durango SRT Hellcat

While the Hennessey Performance team has created quite a buzz with its Durango, don’t forget the stock version of the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat continues to offer exceptionally quick 0-60 mph time of merely 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 11.5 seconds. With times like that in a three-row SUV, that’s not only special for a large SUV, but for any production vehicle available today. We’ve already talked about how the Durango is ahead of the competition, but for any readers who are curious about driving a new SUV and want to check out a new Dodge Durango, let us help. We can help make that dream a reality at Miami Lakes Automall today!

2018 Dodge Miami Lakes Automall

A Look Back At the Recent History of the Dodge Challenger

2018 Dodge Miami Lakes Automall

The Dodge brand has grown in popularity and offered seemingly better and better muscle car options for customers. The truth is Dodge really has upped the ante for vehicles in terms of production and horsepower, among other qualities its customers embrace. Looking back at just the last half-decade we can see just how improved the Dodge muscle lineup has grown. When the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was introduced, it was a landmark effort. The first SRT Hellcat would offer 707 horsepower and hit a remarkable 11.2-second quarter-mile effort. Dodge would surpass this total with more recent efforts in the following years. Let’s take a look at where the Dodge brand has grown and exceeded previous efforts with unmatched gusto.

Looking Back At the 2015 Dodge Challenger

The first SRT Hellcat would offer 707 horsepower and hit a remarkable 11.2-second quarter-mile effort. Dodge would surpass this total with more recent efforts in the following years. Let’s take a look at where the Dodge brand has grown and exceeded previous efforts with unmatched gusto.

Former President and CEO of Dodge and SRT Brands, Tim Kuniskis, remarked when the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat debuted that Dodge was “reaching deep into our history and bringing back the notion from the muscle car ear of the street and strip dual-purpose cars”. This was just the first effort to embark on a path that includes new muscle cars for new customers to fall for the love of racing and the muscle Dodge provides. The goal for Dodge was to make a muscle car serve two purposes and this would further be realized when the following year Dodge offered the 2016 Challenger.

Dodge Improved Challenger In New Ways For 2016 and 2017

Dodge had redesigned the Challenger the year prior, but when the 2016 model year came out it offered the most muscle ever offered in a production vehicle. The supercharged 6.2-Liter HEMI SRT V8 engine offered 650 ft-lb of torque and hit a top speed of 199 mph. While this would see to be impressive, as the rival brand Chevrolet and its Camaro only hit 455 horsepower and the Challenger was over 700 horsepower, the 2017 model year was even better. The 2017 Dodge Challenger GT was the first all-wheel-drive muscle car and offered launch control to help ensure an easier start on drag strips. The following model year offered something we’re still talking about to this day.

The Most Impressive Dodge Challenger Models Yet

The 2018 model year for the Dodge brand offered the rare and exclusive 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. This was the fastest production muscle car and it wasn’t topped by any vehicle since, with the exception of the new 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. The 2018 Dodge Challenger offered the SRT Hellcat and the SRT Hellcat Widebody, but the star vehicle was the SRT Demon. With high-octane fuel, the output for the engine was 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque. The Dodge brand wound up creating cousins of the SRT Demon in the following years with muscle cars are just as exclusive as the SRT Demon. Look no further than the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

More Demon Parts For Customers To Enjoy

Dodge wound up earning lots of attention when parts of the SRT Demon found its way into both the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and this year’s 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. While the SRT Hellcat Redeye offered “only” 797 horsepower, the SRT Super Stock hit over 800 horsepower and became only the second Dodge vehicle to offer customers such unique strength and power. In fact, the SRT Super Stock is perhaps the most impressive Challenger ever made. So, what does Dodge have in store for buyers in the coming years? We can expect only remarkable results and some of the world’s finest engineering for the company responsible for putting muscle cars back on the map in the past decade. Want to know what its like behind the wheel of a vehicle like the Dodge Challenger
