Is It October Yet? 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Nears Debut

The 2021 Dodge Durango will be joining the SRT Hellcat family later in 2020. While the current Dodge Durango is plenty strong, they have gained a new fastest-trim with the introduction of the SRT Hellcat trim. The entire vehicle lineup is fast as well as offering plenty of space for passengers. Dodge and parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), have made the right call by adding the Dodge Durango to the Hellcat threshold. Dodge has started 2020 off on the right foot and looks to continue to rebound past the COVID-19 slowdown with new trim options that have never been produced before.

The Rarity of the SRT Hellcat

Today, the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger are the solitary Dodge vehicles that offer an SRT Hellcat trim. Customers will gain the remarkable 6.2-Liter supercharged V8 engine and all the perks of the SRT Hellcat trim. Exclusively badging, style, and strength that makes the Hellcat so awesome. Allow us to breakdown the expectations customers should have for the next 2021 Dodge Durango. The fastest reigning and available Dodge Durango right now is the SRT trim that extends the monstrous 6.4-Liter HEMI V8 engine that creates 475 horsepower and an impressive 470 lb-ft of torque rating.

This new trim will also bring exclusively badging and style. Allow us to explain what customers have previously encountered with the Durango, what Dodge will offer, and how some fans couldn’t help but crave the premiere of the SRT Hellcat Durango. While we can’t say we’ve been able to see or test-drive the upcoming Hellcat, we have seen a spy shot that has gotten us hyped. October, the month FCA says the Durango SRT Hellcat will be ready, can’t come here soon enough.

The Debut of the Hellcat

The first-ever teaser picture of the 2021 Dodge Durango was an image of the classic Hellcat emblem that was on the front quarter panel of the unseen Durango exterior. Dodge had not created a Hellcat, but made an SRT trim several years back. Other Fiat Chrysler brands, like Jeep, have yet to see a Hellcat vehicle. While Jeep added the Trackhawk to the Jep Grand Cherokee, it’s not as fast as the SRT Hellcat Durango will be. The Trackhawk can travel from 0 to 60 in only four seconds. The reports of the Durango SRT Hellcat will hit a time under four seconds. The three-row Durango will contain a new SRT Hellcat motor will contain a positive-displacement twin-screw supercharger that will create up to over 700 horsepower at all four wheels for the SRT Hellcat trim. For those who can’t wait to drive a new Dodge vehicle, we have the newest Dodge Durango and all Dodge SRT Hellcat vehicles ready for our customers.

Which High-End Dodge Challenger Trim Should A Driver Choose?

The landscape of Dodge muscle cars runs deep and offers more choices than most would suspect. The 2020 Dodge Challenger offers a multitude of packages for customers to decide on. For those that want to spend extra money to get all the perks afforded with some of the higher trims, a smart choice would be the Scat Pack trim or Hellcat trim. What would be the major differences between the R/T Scat Pack and the SRT Hellcat? Allow us to share some news of the upcoming features and standard options when it comes to the 2020 Dodge Challenger.

Breaking Down the 2020 SRT Hellcat

The highest trim for the Challenger is found in the SRT Hellcat Redeye, however, this is a vehicle that while it remains the fastest production muscle car made by Dodge, few can handle its immense power. For those willing to consider the high-end SRT Hellcat Redeye, we recommend reading more about it. However, let’s get back to two vehicles that are closer in price and performance. The 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat offers an impressive 6.2-Liter supercharged engine with an impressive 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The power of the Challenger is felt by drivers and passengers alike. Not to mention, the high-end technology being added to the Challenger with the addition of the Uconnect 5 system

In-Depth Look Into the R/T Scat Pack

The 2020 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack has the best-in-class horsepower for any vehicle under $40,00. The Scat Pack offers high-octane premium performance that has built a following of Dodge muscle car enthusiasts around the world. Starting with its hunky HEMI V8 engine that produces 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque and offers a quarter-time of 11.70 seconds at a top speed of 115 mph. The price of the R/T Scat Pack starts at $39,995 MSRP and is available for the Widebody option. The R/T Scat Pack Widebody is considered another trim, just as the SRT Hellcat Widebody. For those that expect to take their Dodge muscle car for drag racing on a course, we can see the intrigue to add the Widebody version for either trim. The Widebody adds greater grip due to its wider tires, but we will focus on the non-Widebody entries for this article. Don’t forget, Dodge added the R/T Scat Pack as one of the options to gain the Daytona Special Edition earlier this year.

Why Opt For A Challenger?

The best part of driving any Dodge Challenger is feeling the extremely fast jump the vehicle provides from 0-60 and how smooth the vehicle rides. Dodge has earned many drivers over the competition in recent years, surpassing the Chevrolet Camaro in 2019 thanks to its many perks, trim options, and excitement offered for each owner. We love the sound of a new Dodge Challenger driving by and we’re sure the sound of owning one will sound great to many of our readers. Dodge has announced a new vehicle to celebrate the semi-centennial of the Challenger. The 50th Anniversary Edition Challenger will receive a new Commemorative Edition that can be ordered across three 2020 Challenger trims including the R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and the R/T Scat Pack Widebody. The rear-wheel-drive V6 GT model can also be added with the 50th Anniversary Edition. Let’s break down all the fun awaiting future owners of this special edition.

Owners Will Have A Lot of Choices

What owners will gain with the commemorative car is quite similar to the 50th Anniversary Edition. Hand-painted Satin Black hood with black-wrapped roof and decklid, the Dodge Hellcat air intake and headlights, Satin Black fuel filler cap with Gunmetal-colored brake calipers on trim that have the red Brembo brakes. Gold School-colored wheels, lots of badging that carry “50” logos that are illuminated. Drivers will find the interior gains sepia stitching, heated and cooled performance seating and additional sepia thread on the Alcantara door bolsters that carry white gages with detailed yellow accents, berber floor mats, real carbon fiber trim pieces, and a bunch more badging.

How Much Does the Commemorative Challenger Cost?

This special edition comes with real carbon fiber trim pieces with a look that would impress any fans of the 1970 Challenger, which can be found in the gauge cluster animation awaiting drivers.  Dodge claims this commemorative vehicle will be available in the fall. The price point is expected to add $4,995 for this optional package of a 2020 Dodge Challenger R/T, $5,495 to the price of the R/T Scat Pack, and $5,495 to the cost of the R/T Scat Pack Widebody. There are plenty of choices for customers to decide their options.

Tons of Colors To Choose From

Keep in mind, the 50th Anniversary Challenger muscle car is ready in optional body color choices including F8 Green, Frostbite, Go Mango, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, or the all-new Gold Rush. The difference for the Commemorative Edition is the color palette includes Granite, Indigo Blue, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Triple Nickel, White Knuckle, and the new Smoke Show hue. That latter color replaces Destroyer Gray, and can be ordered on the Charger as well.

“I consider these cars to have a soul and they are timeless. We continue to refine these cars and offer new packages and engine upgrades, things that really resonate with our customers. That’s what led us,” Mark Trostle FCA Designer.

2021 Dodge Challenger To Gain Viper ACR Styling?

Viper Miami Lakes Automall

(Disclaimer: FCA has come out this month to say they won’t be producing this particular package or trim, however, we still think this is a rumor and take worth reading.)

While the famed Dodge Viper ACR saw its last run wrap up several years ago in 2017, Dodge has found ways to add the Viper in its current muscle line-up. Dodge might be adding parts that made up the Viper ACR into the Challenger, if the latest rumor from Allpar is believed. Dodge is working on producing a brand new ACR version of the Challenger. Speculation about production being slowed down was confirmed with the delay of many Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicles, but the Dodge Challenger will still have a 2021 model year and the ACR version might be one of them. Allpar has said a “long-time source familiar with the project”, has aimed to give drivers even better track performance as the currently-discontinued Viper ACR. Dodge could even up the ante and give the Challenger ACR an even more powerful engine. The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye gave owners 797 horsepower, which is way above the amount offered in the final Viper ACR.

What Would Be Found In the Challenger ACR?

For those who loved the Dodge Viper over its long and storied run, we can imagine a new Challenger ACR would have to be made as a package, more than a trim. The unique aerodynamics taken from the Viper design, the high-position wing and large splitter, are unique and would probably make this vehicle a rare find for owners. Allpar, if believed, has noted this Challenger ACR will gain large-scale Brembo brakes, a manually adjustable suspension system, and a goal weight of fewer than 4000 pounds. The muscle car will add carbon fiber in the car’s construction to allow the Challenger to be light. This approach, if taken by engineers, would make this the most lightweight Challenger ever. Even better than being light is creating the strongest Challenger. Will there be a 6.2-Liter supercharged V8 taken directly from the Hellcat Redeye? Would Dodge upgrade from the 392 cubic-inch HEMI V8 that is found in the Scat Pack Challenger? We’re speculating, but Dodge would have a lot of choices for the Challenger ACR.

Dodge Is Pumping Out Its Fastest Collection Yet

Dodge is looking to ramp up its horsepower in every vehicle, even the already fast Dodge Durango. The Hellcat trim will end up as an option for the Durango. So, with that knowledge, imagine the future for a hybrid of the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Viper. Though Dodge has not yet confirmed an ACR, we expect Dodge to go forward with a new package for the Challenger, as they have done plenty of times.

As far as the Dodge Challenger, we can’t wait for the 2021 model to come out. The rumor with the ACR has also given news that Fiat Chrysler would alter factory settings so the suspension could be determined by the customer. The change is going to give owners a setting across a bunch of options including the height, caster, and camber at the track, as well as shock damping and rebound. Shocks may be brought over directly from the Viper design, along with the vehicle’s brake system. Should we see a future Challenger ACR created, this will be one of the fastest, track-ready vehicles on the market. Dodge always seems to produce a muscle car that takes over the drag-racing scene each year. 2019 had the aforementioned Hellcat Redeye, the year before that was the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon. Could the 2020 Challenger offer us the ACR? Time will tell soon enough as we’re already in June 2020.
