Wheelchair users have a reason to rejoice at a re-design of an old favorite. FCA introduced the upfitted Chrysler Pacifica minivan, with the company BraunAbility, at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
According to a news release, in 2019, there are now 25 (more) vehicles available to be modified with adaptive equipment in the FCA U.S. Automobility Program. That is good news for customers who are in need of a new vehicle. Wheelchair users will have easier access to get in and out of vehicles with ample space for accommodating families and friends, as well.
As head of passenger cars for FCA North America, Tim Kuniskis said in a release, this vehicle will allow FCA customers to gain the freedom to stay active.
“We all know someone with a physical disability who needs help getting to the places and events that matter most to them.”
BraunAbility, an American manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vans and wheelchair lifts, was founded in 1963 by Ralph Braun, who had spinal muscular atrophy. When it came to the design, BraunAbility sourced its customized components from the same Tier One supplier as do major OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer), including Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and these modified vehicles are held to the same safety standard as the vehicles on which they are based, including crash tests.
Building these heavily customized vans required reimagining them completely. BraunAbility engineered an entirely new, high-strength steel subfloor to make a significantly lowered floor possible. The rear suspension is redesigned, as well, to compensate for the lowered floor and raised height. The raised ride height is disguised somewhat by body extensions surrounding the van, which integrate steps for front seat access.
“The most spacious wheelchair-accessible vehicle in the industry, the BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica features patent-pending AccessAbility technology, including an aerospace-inspired sliding door extension and the industry’s widest side-entry ramp, with rear-axle space innovations and cantilevered seat bases that expand interior cabin space, maximizing space for obstruction-free maneuverability for all sizes and types of wheelchairs,” according to a news release from the company.
But the minivan wasn’t only designed for parents with kids of special needs. It was also designed with adults who have a disability but can still drive. Devices included are hand controls and left foot accelerators. The modifications in the vehicles were designed specifically to ensure a safer and more secure ride for driver and passengers.
Included in the Chrysler Pacifica upfitted are lifts, hoists, and carriers. Whether it’s scooter hoists, rear or side wheelchair lifts or outside wheelchair carriers, customers will find equipment that will fit them, their vehicle and their lifestyle. Running boards, which are designed for the safety and secure stepping space and improved traction, getting in and out of vehicles will be much easier.
Not every disability requires a customized vehicle, but the upfitted Chrysler Pacifica has become an ideal solution for those who are in need of a vehicle. One in five Americans lives with some sort of disability, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, including 3.8 million veterans.
FCA also noted that the companies are partnering on an effort to promote Canine Companions for Independence, which trains and provides assistance dogs for people with a variety of special needs at six sites around the country.
The starting MSRP is $29,900 (plus destination fee). Seems like a small price to pay for the comfort and peace of mind that it will bring to parents and someone with a disability.
“For Chrysler, there has always been an importance in showcasing and providing mobility solutions for people with disabilities: that is why we are the leader in this are,” said Clair Carroll with Chrysler Product Communications. “Also, it allows us to demonstrate what makes the Pacifica such a great vehicle, with its ability to provide the best solution and functionality for whatever the consumers’ need is.”
Chrysler Pacifica has also gone eco-friendly with their upfitted vans. With many transportation solutions still relying on heavy large vehicles that consume large amounts of fuel, Revability heard this concern and decided to find a solution. They introduced to the world the first Hybrid wheelchair accessible vehicle, the new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Chassis, and it’s ready to lead the way in eco-friendly mobility transportation.

The Pacifica and Sienna minivan models are the latest minivans out for Chrysler and Toyota in the market at the moment. You may be wondering “what can the Pacifica and Sienna offer me?”. Let’s take a look at what both minivans offer.
Chrysler Pacifica: The 2018 Pacifica seats seven passengers. It includes a feature that allows the second-row seats tilt out of the way to get to the third row without having to remove a car seat. Speaking of seating, the Pacifica also features Stow ‘n Go seating which allows for the second and third-row seats to fold into the floor. Some optional features include leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats. If you live up north you won’t have to worry about freezing because the Pacifica has heated everything. Heated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Toyota Sienna: The 2018 Sienna also seats seven passengers. The Sienna also has three rows which, if adjusted appropriately, you can comfortably fit adults in the first two rows and slightly shorter, limber adults in the third row, too. Another interesting feature is you can push and hold a button at the top of the liftgate to make the third-row seats fold away.
Chrysler Pacifica: Entertainment is vital when you have a long trip ahead of you and have children that need to be entertained. But not to worry. The Chrysler Pacifica has backseat entertainment and its appropriately named the Uconnect infotainment system. For quick use, it has physical buttons and knobs on every 4th Generation Pacifica and a new 4G LTE connection.
Toyota Sienna: The Toyota Sienna is not staying behind in the technology department. Toyota has completely revamped its Entune infotainment system. It has more USB ports and a brand new 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. However, it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Chrysler Pacifica: Let’s face it when you’re a driver your top concern is always getting to your destination safely. It’s a relief to see that the Pacifica earned a perfect crash-test score (again) in 2018. The crash-test isn’t the only feature where it scored high. In 2018 Chrysler also moved blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors with rear automated emergency braking from being optional to being standard.
Toyota Sienna: The Sienna now has standard equipment which includes the Toyota Safety Sense P, a forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beams, and adaptive cruise control.
Chrysler Pacifica: With the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, the Chrysler Pacifica delivers 287 horsepower and has a 262 lb-ft of torque. It also has one of the Best-in-Class towing capability and delivers 28 mpg highway.
Toyota Sienna: Toyota Sienna also has a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and delivers 296 horsepower (slightly higher than the Pacifica) and it has a 263 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy of the Sienna is 22 MPG combined city/ highway.
Chrysler Pacifica: Most minivans aren’t known to have dynamic handling and this is where the Pacifica steps in. A huge thanks to that is in part to the responsive steering and strong brakes, it remains composed around corners and on winding roads.
Chrysler Pacifica: The 2018 Pacifica starts at $26,995 (plus destination fee). It includes a piece of standard equipment, such as a 7- inch in-dash touchscreen; Bluetooth connectivity; a blind-spot monitoring system with a rear cross-traffic alert; and as an added bonus it has a dual-zone manual climate control system.
Toyota Sienna: The 2018 Sienna has a starting price of $30,850 (plus destination fee). It also includes Bluetooth and a 7- inch touchscreen. Toyota also has three-zone automatic climate control and the aforementioned advanced safety features: a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, radar cruise control; and a lane-departure warning with automatic steering assistance.

Boy, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has been one busy auto group this year. 2018 has seen a lot of changes for vehicles under the FCA umbrella, starting with their new Global Medium Engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine that showed up in the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL during the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, and again in the 2019 Ram 1500 during the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Then, to improve their engines, FCA invented a new aluminum alloy for their cylinder heads. Their latest achievement is landing on the WardsAuto “10 Best Engines List” with their already award-winning Pentastar V6 engine, now with eTorque.
That’s right, the same mild-hybrid system that showed up in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL and the 2019 Ram 1500 has won FCA a place on WardsAuto “10 Best Engines List”. When eTorque first showed up in the Jeep Wrangler JL, it was only a tease of hybrid functions coming to the off-road automaker, including auto stop/start, electric power assist, extended fuel shut-off, transmission shift management, intelligent battery charging, and regenerative braking. Later, when eTorque popped up on the 2019 Ram 1500, we saw even more potential.
The 2019 Ram 1500 lineup comes standard with a 305hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, able to generate 269 lb-ft of torque, and comes standard with the eTorque mild-hybrid system. Able to generate an additional 90 lb-ft of torque within 400 milliseconds, drivers get 90 lb-ft of torque from a cold start and can ramp up to over 300 lb-ft of torque for a tough job. There’s a lot of potential.
It’s always nice when an auto brand we love receives some recognition. Nothing says like “one of the best” like an award, and when that award comes from Consumer Guide® Automotive, consumers can rest assured that the award came from a reputable source. Consumer Guide recently completed its 2019 Best Buys review, and named two Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as some of the best – the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2019 Ram 1500.

Soon after the self-driving Waymo successfully launched and tested its Early Rider program in Phoenix, Arizona, the autonomous car was certified as an autonomous transportation network the same city. That makes the Waymo the first ever driverless vehicle that consumers could use. It initially started the early launch of the Waymo ride-hailing program, where consumers could shop at big names like Walmart and ride-hail a self-driving Waymo vehicle. The success was so great, that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles invested $30 million into upgrading their Chelsea Proving Grounds to test autonomous vehicles for retail, or consumer use. Waymo also bought over 60,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid units from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) to expand their fleet to other states. The Waymo launched a robotaxi service in Phoenix, Arizona and its next objective to conquer is California. But before then, the official Waymo ride-hailing app has been made available to about 400 riders participating in the first phase of the program.
Can you imagine that? How easily do we hail a ride today? It’s not like the old days where one had to call a cab or hope there was one passing by. Now, we just need to unlock our smartphone, open an app, pick our destination(s), and a driver will arrive to pick us up. Now take that scenario, but someone’s missing. Only the vehicle shows up – no driver. Say hello to “Waymo One”.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has been keeping a lot of their new models on the downlow, and while 2018 comes to a close, many automakers are starting to tease out their 2019 model lineup. With FCA currently going through some changes, their shift towards hybrid vehicles and electric cars may push some aside for good. One of these is the Chrysler 300, but before it gets the axe, they’re bringing the sedan back for one more model year. Check out what’s good on the 2019 Chrysler 300.
Looking for Performance?
Right out of the gate, for consumers that want a sedan that can perform, then the 2019 Chrysler 300C is definitely the sedan to get. Powered by a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine, this baby generates 363 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. Designed with a Multi-Displacement System (MDS), Fuel Saver Technology, and optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) technology, the fuel economy isn’t all that bad either, with 25 mpg available on the highway. Ride on 20-inch polished-aluminum wheels with a Platinum Chrome finish and get the best control out of the 300C with sport mode activated for increased engine and throttle responsiveness and firmer steering. Choose the best gear for the ride with paddle shifters, or leave gear shifts up to the standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
Thanks to a segment-exclusive active transfer case and front-axle disconnect system, all trims that come equipped with a V6 engine can also ride on either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive without any input from the driver. All trims but the 2019 Chrysler 300C come with the V6 engine, so there’s plenty to choose from.
Only Interested in Style?
If looking for a sedan that has enough attitude without a V8 HEMI, the rest of the lineup is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, also optimized with VVT, able to generate 292 horsepower and offer 30 mpg on the highway. Check out the 2019 Chrysler 300S for performance-tuned suspension, performance-tuned steering, blacked-out exterior accents, and Black Noise wheels. Inside, enjoy leather-wrapped sport seats and exclusive Piano Black interior accents, or take control with paddle shifters and sport mode to really get the most out of this vehicle.
Being top-of-the-line, the 300C has some of the best interior features around. Segment-exclusive deep-quilted and perforated Nappa leather seats and door panels, hand-sanded natural pore wood, French accent stitching and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with unique chrome accent ring are just some of the standard features to look forward to. For the interior cabin, consumers can choose the available signature two-tone Indigo/Linen or Mocha for a little more color.
There’s also the selection of exterior colors and interior style to look forward to. Depending on the trim, consumers may choose to paint their 2019 Chrysler 300 in any of the following colors – Bright White, Ceramic Gray, Gloss Black, Granite Crystal, Green Metallic, Maximum Steel, Ocean Blue, Silver Mist, and Velvet Red. Some personal style may already be apparent, such as those found in the 300S and 300C, but consumers may also choose from Black, Black/Linen, Black/Caramel, Black/Smoke, Mocha, and Indigo/Linen where applicable.
How Safe is the Chrysler 300?
Aside from having advanced multistage front airbags, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Keyless Go, a ParkView rear backup camera, and more, the 2019 Chrysler 300 can also offer some nifty advanced and automatic safety features. Opt-in for the SafetyTec Plus Group for safety features such as Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus with Full Stop, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Path detection.
There’s so much to look forward to for the 2019 Chrysler 300. Find yours at Miami Lakes Automall today.

Before Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) became the automotive group it is today, both Fiat and Chrysler were saved by the former CEO Sergio Marchionne. Having stepped down due to illness, Marchionne passed away July 25, 2018. He was born in Italy, and migrated to Toronto, Canada at age thirteen to pursue a higher education. By the time Marchionne graduated grad school, he held a Master’s degree in business administration and law, and then entered the world of accounting. He quickly became recognized as an accountant, tax specialist, attorney, and business strategist as he worked up the ladder in multiple companies before taking his talent to the automotive industry.
The Fiat Group quickly realized the good Marchionne could do for the company when he restructured their debt, settled contractual obligations to General Motors with a $2 billion payment, and drew up a four-year plan to make 20 new models to expand the product line for Fiat. Marchionne was quickly appointed as CEO in 2004, and following this, helped to save the Detroit automotive company, Chrysler Group LLC, out of bankruptcy by purchasing 20-percent of the company in 2009. He was also appointed as the CEO of Chrysler around the same time.
Ya’ll ready for some summer love? Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has started its 2018 Edition of FCA’s summer advertising campaign. With a focus on several FCA brands, Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, Ram, and FIAT, commercials will be airing on various media channels, digital and TV, to promote these brands and select vehicles. In partnership with the technological giant Apple, FCA and Apple will be working together to also promote Apple CarPlay and the “Apple Experience” with the summer advertising campaign, set to feature ten music artists across multiple labels, including a Jeep brand collaboration with multi platinum, Grammy®-nominated band OneRepublic (Interscope Records) to launch the sixth Summer of Jeep campaign.
“FCA offers an incredible Apple experience, giving consumers the ability to enjoy Apple Music’s catalog of 45 million songs and to listen with premium BeatsAudio sound, in addition to all the features that come with CarPlay. This collaboration inspired us to leverage the strength and identity of each of our individual brands…Additionally, as the only automaker to now offer branded playlists on Apple Music, this allows us to provide increased relevance to targeted audiences.” – said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, FCA.
The “Apple Experience” is an offer the FCA started in June 2018 that would give new consumers a chance to get Apple Music for free. Customers in the U.S. and Canada would get six months of Apple Music free if they were new Apple Music users and three months free if they were existing customers with the purchase of any new Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, Jeep or Ram vehicle with standard Apple CarPlay support. It should go without saying that all of these ads will be showing off Apple CarPlay functionality, although Google Android Auto will most likely also be standard if Apple CarPlay is.
Of the ten music artists being featured, those who have music featured in the commercials are OneRepublic, Alice Cooper, Brothers Osborne, Dej Loaf & Leon, and Nicky Blitz. Other music artists, such as Sofia Reyes, Dave Cobb, Gus Wenner, and Kathryn Hahn also worked together with the above artists to make curated playlists for the Summer of Jeep campaign, now available on Apple Music. The main focus for FCA though, is OneRepublic with Interscope Records.
“With this new campaign, Interscope continues our relationship with the FCA-crafting campaigns that speak to the power of music…Our diverse roster and FCA’s respect for the magic of artistry and the creative process are evident in the new Summer of Jeep spot featuring OneRepublic.” – said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman Interscope Geffen A&M Records.

Soon after Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced their five-year plans, many noticed there was a much larger focus on the expansion of the Jeep® brand and alternative fuel sources. Although the auto market has been shifting towards hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles in recent years, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has only dipped their toes in with the unsuccessful Fiat 500e and very successful Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The popular plug-in hybrid minivan has also had a large role to play with the once Google-owned project, the self-driving autonomous vehicle, the Waymo. We see even greater potential in the autonomous market before its saturated with every auto brand that makes vehicles with a GPS system and a camera.
The first self-driving autonomous vehicle to make a large impact on the auto industry was the self-driving Waymo vehicle, a modified Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Redesigned with the latest generation of custom-built radar, LiDAR, vision systems, and an all-new AI computer platform for safe operations. The vehicle is driving itself after all, so it needs the most up-to-date tech and software available.
Ever since Chrysler decided to downsize, news about the company has been a little quieter than it has been in the past. The Chrysler 300 is showing its age, and yes, we’ve heard about how great the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid are many times. What else is new? Chrysler needs to change things up. And we’re NOT talking about the Chrysler Portal concept, the “vehicle for millennials.” No, we need something new, and Chrysler has plans to tap into a new market with a crossover.
Honestly, we were wondering what took the automaker so long to think about joining in the crossover craze. Dodge has a few SUVs, and Jeep is an all-SUV or crossover lineup. But we don’t need to wonder anymore. During the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, FCA’s CEO, Sergio Marchionne, decided to tease the crowd with future FCA concepts. The big one that got people talking is none other than a crossover by Chrysler.
