The standard engine on all six trim levels on the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica is the 3.6L Pentastar V6 which rations 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque and. The top five trim levels get the Engine Stop-Start (ESS) Technology, and that produces increased fuel economy. Both engines work with a Torqueflite 9-Speed Automatic Transmission for EPA estimated fuel economy specs which deliver 18 MPG City and 28 MPG HWY, and with the ESS in-city MPG increases to 19 MPG while in the highway it stays the same at 28 MPG.

The second-row seats, which are also available in the standard Pacifica, are also comfortable since they don’t fold flat into the floor. The same advantages that the regular Chrysler Pacifica offers are also offered in the plug-in hybrid. Included is its sharp styling and compelling technology.

Soon after Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced their five-year plans, many noticed there was a much larger focus on the expansion of the Jeep® brand and alternative fuel sources. Although the auto market has been shifting towards hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles in recent years, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has only dipped their toes in with the unsuccessful Fiat 500e and very successful Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The popular plug-in hybrid minivan has also had a large role to play with the once Google-owned project, the self-driving autonomous vehicle, the Waymo. We see even greater potential in the autonomous market before its saturated with every auto brand that makes vehicles with a GPS system and a camera.
The first self-driving autonomous vehicle to make a large impact on the auto industry was the self-driving Waymo vehicle, a modified Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Redesigned with the latest generation of custom-built radar, LiDAR, vision systems, and an all-new AI computer platform for safe operations. The vehicle is driving itself after all, so it needs the most up-to-date tech and software available.
Fuel efficiency is one of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a new car – regardless of gas prices. Why? Fuel efficient vehicles save drivers money, emit less emissions and increases energy sustainability. Fortunately, there are some exceptional large SUVs that have a great fuel economy and are available at the Miami Lakes Automall.
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is a perfect example of a fuel efficient SUV with its combined gas-electric engine. Fuel economy combined with gas-electric and city/highway is 84 MPGe and 32 MPG running solely on regular gas. According to fueleconomy.gov, drivers save $2,250 in fuel costs over 5 years compared to the average new vehicle. Furthermore, drivers of the Pacifica Hybrid don’t emit nearly as many greenhouse gases as other vehicles – its an average 106 grams per mile when it uses the gas engine or a combination of both and it emits zero emissions when in pure electric mode.
The 2018 Kia Niro PHEV (plug-in hybrid) is the latest hybrid model offered by Kia. Making its debut at the LA Auto Show in 2017, the Kia Niro PHEV can travel 26 miles when powered by its battery and it can go 560 miles with a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas. In comparison to the non-plug-in version of the Niro, battery life in the Niro PHEV is 7.3 kWh larger. The 44.5kW electric motor is paired with a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter engine with an MPGe rating of 105.
“The Niro Plug-in is the exciting next step in Kia’s progression toward offering more alternative fuel vehicles by 2020,” said Orth Hedrick, Vice President of Product Planning for Kia Motors America. “Consumers who are intrigued by the Niro hybrid’s fantastic versatility and design, but want even more EcoDynamics technology and the ability to drive only using electric power, will find more to love in the Niro Plug-in Hybrid.”
Finally, Mitsubishi Motors is bringing the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to the U.S. The Outlander PHEV offers a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a generator to charge the 12 kWh battery that gives power to the front wheels as well as a 60 kWh electric motor that gives power to the rear wheels. In as little as 30 minutes, the Outlander PHEV’s battery can charge to 80 percent when the DC Quick Charger is used or the battery can reach a full charge in less than four hours using the 240-volt charger. Just like the Pacifica Hybrid and Kia Niro PHEV, the Outlander PHEV will initially operate on strictly electric mode and then kick in the gas engine as energy begins to deplete.
While there is no official word on when the Kia Niro PHEV will launch in the U.S. the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be available in January 2018. Shopping for a more fuel efficient vehicle for the family? Well, thankfully Chrysler has created the Pacifica Hybrid, a vehicle for parents that want a “green” vehicle, but need space for the family, too.
Chrysler released the Pacifica in April 2016, Chrysler is gearing up to release the Pacifica Hybrid, the first hybrid minivan! So, if you want to save money on gas, reduce your carbon footprint and have plenty of space for the whole family, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is an excellent choice.
Interested in a hybrid, but don’t know much about hybrids? We’ve got you covered.
The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is technically a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). PHEVs can run on pure electricity from their battery, purely on a gas engine, or both of those systems can work together. PHEVs are a step-up from hybrid vehicles because they have a larger battery that allows them to run on pure electricity for longer, but the battery is so big it needs to be plugged-in to fully recharge.
In comparison to hybrids, PHEVs have a better fuel economy, they are eligible for the federal tax credit and they release fewer emissions. And unlike electric vehicles, which are only powered by electricity, PHEVs have an alternative power supply because there is also a gas engine. So feel free to roam, however far you want. (more…)
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV should be available first, and we hope to see it by late summer or early fall. While we have had the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica available since the spring, it’s more fuel-efficient sibling, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid will come to our showroom during the second half of 2016.
These hybrids are particularly exciting because they are both products that have never been seen in the U.S. before. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a 4WD SUV that can be powered by an all-electric, hybrid or gas engine. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the first ever hybrid minivan.
