Stellantis Is Making An $83 Million Investment At The Dundee Engine Plant

Stellantis’s Hybrid-Based Investment

It was recently announced that Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, will be taking advantage of the Dundee Engine Plant for the production of two future hybrid electric models. The car factory in Dundee, Michigan is being reworked to act as the final assembly location for a 4-cylinder motor meant for two hybrids coming to the States.

As stated by a news release, the plant will experience an $83 million investment, with the production of the engine set to begin in early 2025.

The new 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged motor will be inspired by the current Stellantis engine in Europe and will be adaptable for hybrid-electric, or HEV, vehicle applications, according to the company. Stellantis says that this will be the first HEV engine for them in the region. The multinational automaker currently owns the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati brands.

“The Michigan plant will continue production of the 3.6-liter Pentastar Upgrade for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The Tigershark 2.4-liter I-4 engine will build out in the first quarter of 2023,” the company said.

It is not expected that the investment will not experience an impact on the number of full-time positions at the plant, as stated by spokeswoman Jodi Tinson. Since June, Dundee has 987 workers under them (853 hourly and 134 salaried), as stated by the company.

This is the largest piece of a total $99 million investment for Dundee that was announced by Stellantis, which the car manufacturer matched to its Dare Forward 2030 business plan. The release stated the company would also finance over $14 million at the Kokomo Casting Plant in Indiana to transfigure die-cast machines and cells for the new engine, as well as $2 million at Etobicoke Casting in Toronto for advancements and new tooling to produce the engine’s new oil pans.

UAW (United Automobile Workers) President Ray Curry addressed the announcement in a statement, saying that “when companies invest in UAW facilities, they are recognizing that UAW members add value to the company’s success.”

UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada, who heads the Stellantis Department for the union, said that it was great news.

“This investment in a new four-cylinder engine will add job security for the members who continue to build ICE products as the industry transitions to electrification. The hard work and dedication of the UAW Stellantis membership to build great products with world class quality has been recognized and rewarded today,” Estrada said in a statement, referring to the abbreviation for the internal combustion engine.

A Deeper Dive Into The 2022 Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 sedan remains to be a freak of nature in the world of sedans, as its highlighting optional V8 engine is something that most large cars don’t have. You can prepare to be astounded by its exhilarating acceleration and captivating drive, while it somehow manages to achieve 25 mpg on the highway.

This time around, we’re paying attention to more internal elements, such as its interior style and upscale features. Let’s Dive Deeper Into The 2022 Chrysler 300.

Design

The Chrysler 300 remains cool and collected for 2022, and retains that modish muscular style that its fans love. It draws your attention with its intense and domineering gaze, and it keeps your focus with cool exterior elements on the 300S models, such as blacked-out features, and the standard Red S Appearance Package. The base 300 Touring model has a Chrome Appearance package that provides a more polished look such as 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome-finished side mirror housings/window trim, and a platinum type of grille and surround. At the same time, the Sport Appearance package coats all of these elements black.

Color options for this model year also amount to Bright White, Frostbite, Gloss Black, Granite Crystal, Silver Mist, and Velvet Red.

Looking on the inside, you’ll see that Chrysler isn’t too shy when it comes to showing off. One of the ways it does this is by its large trunk, specifically sized at 16 cubic feet. Moving towards the front, the dashboard and seats appear to have been suited up with high-end and ritzy materials. Additional elements such as an analog clock, rotary gear selector, and a 7-inch instrument cluster reinforces the cabin’s already posh look.

Interior colors remain simple, with Black or Black with Linen.

Convenience

There’s much more fun in store with these top-grade comfort features. The 300 sedan has a long list of in-car excitements, with many of them standard, like keyless entry/ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, a new N95 cabin air filter, self-dimming rearview mirror, LED lighting for the front cup holders, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

It also comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen for an infotainment stream that involves Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, satellite radio, voice control, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker audio system.

The 300 Touring L model then adds on LED fog lights, remote start, heated front seats, Nappa leather seating surfaces, 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, front/rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot monitoring system. The 300S also tacks on a sporty suspension, a Sport driving mode, 20-inch alloy wheels, paddle shifters mounted beneath the steering wheel, sporty front seats, and a 276-watt/6-speaker audio setup.

On top of all of this, there is a Comfort package, specifically available for the Touring L and 300S. It comes with ventilated front seats, adaptive/self-leveling headlights, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, an upgraded alarm system upgrade, a power-adjustable steering column with memory (only for the 300S), and a driver’s-side mirror that automatically when the gear is in reverse.

Safety Features

Chrysler doesn’t forget about safety. Buyers can relax knowing that the 300 car has a four-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It also has available safety features that consist of automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.

The 2022 Chrysler 300 Trim By Trim

The 2022 Chrysler 300 is the American standard of what a luxury sedan should look and act like. It’s currently available in a 300 Touring, 300 Touring L, and fast-paced 300S. Choosing between these all depends on one budget and particular preferences, here are some elements to consider.

2022 Chrysler 300 Touring

MSRP at $35,140

The 300 Touring is the entry-level model of the 300 lineup. It comes with the famous and trustworthy 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, with a stellar output of 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The motor is also paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which according to Consumer Reports, allows for faster acceleration. On top of this, the Touring model amounts to a suitable 22 mpg combined.

This big brute also comes with an expansive interior and comfortable seating. The interior also features an easy-to-use Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and backup camera. Users will find that the Uconnect is highly intelligent and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2022 Chrysler Touring L

MSRP at $38,340

The 300 Touring L is a bit of an upgrade from the base Touring, as it consists of plushy leather upholstery, heated seats, and a set of glossy 18-inch wheels. It is worth noting, however, that there is no optional V8 for the Touring L as it also journeys with the Pentastar V6 and 8-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system also serves as an option for Touring L and Touring trims, which consumers living in states with harsh winter conditions will appreciate.

2022 Chrysler 300S

MSRP at $43,750

The 300 S sedan is the highest and finest trim of them all. It gives its buyers the option to pick between the 3.6L V6 and the mighty 363 horsepower V8 engine. Along with the extra comfort of this model, the 300S has upgrades that are aesthetically pleasing, such as a unique grille design and wheels.

The V6 vs. The V8?

The Chrysler 300 is quite comfortable for all five of its occupants. The 300S can be had with the optional V8 engine. In comparison, the V6 accelerates the 300 to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds, while the V8 equipped 300S will zoom out in 5.3 seconds. One should know that V8 buyers will end up trading fuel economy for horsepower, as the V8 requires a lot more energy than the Pentastar.

The V8 motor is also matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, perfect for making smooth shifts and cruising along the freeway. Along with its high-life performance, the engineers have tuned its suspension into one made for a race car driver. The 300S also has a sport mode with paddle shifters further supporting that added athleticism.

All Of The Reasons To Buy A 2022 Chrysler 300

Despite the rising popularity of SUVs and crossovers, the 2022 Chrysler 300 sedan still manages to stand out… for all of the right reasons. Offered with an MSRP of $32,215, (plus destination fee), the car still has all of the great features that it had before, along with stellar driving dynamics, a spacious interior, and fun in-car features. Here are All Of The Reasons To Buy A 2022 Chrysler 300.

Optional V8 Motor

One of the most enticing features of the Chrysler 300 is its optional 5.7-liter HEMI naturally aspirated V8 engine, which is matched with a 8-speed automatic transmission. Of course, the performance is the most outstanding of its segment, with an output of 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, this car can zoom from 0-60 mph in just 5.3 seconds.

The transmission is quick to respond and there is a suitable amount of grip, even for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model.

Enormous Cabin

Another thing that Chrysler’s 300 sedans are known for is being plentiful in cabin space. There is more than enough shoulder and headroom for five all five occupants, the best in its class. The legroom is also promising. Leather upholstery and other conveniences are also provided on higher trims.

Getting in and out of the rear seats is quite easy, especially with the car’s fairly wide opening. While inside, there is superb space and comfort for three adults, which is one area that the 300 totally dismembers the competition. Other elements like the under-thigh and lower back support are equally exceptional. Truck capacity also amounts to 16.3 cu ft.

Design That Stands The Test Of Time

It’s not often that a car company is able to create a design that is successfully recycled for years on end, but Chrysler seemingly made an evergreen style for its 300. This deluxe offering will make anyone feel like royalty. In fact, it was previously the go-to car for many celebrities and politicians from its first inception. Exterior elements like the sharp LED headlights, bold front-end design, and charming and clean character lines are what make this car an absolute head-turner.

There are six color combinations that are offered with this vehicle, all of which help highlight the All-American design language. There are also small hints and touches like 20″ wheels, chrome window lining, LED tail lights, and the blacked-out elements that just scream: “I’m important to onlookers.”

Spectacular Infotainment System

The brand’s Uconnect 8.4″ touchscreen infotainment system is a part of the many standard features across the three trims. Front seat passengers will revel in the easy-to-use and high-quality touch-sensitive interface.

With the 300, there will be plenty of entertainment options at your disposal with features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, in-dash navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. Is worth noting, however, that some of these are only accessible through the Comfort Package. The 9-speaker Alpine audio system is also another delightful touch to the Chrysler in-car experience.

Everything That’s In Store For The 2022 Chrysler 300

What’s New For 2022?

The Chrysler 300 sedan is set to return for its 2022 model year, and with it comes a simplification of the lineup but with a lavish amount of configurations to work with. For the most part, the exterior has maintained its classic wide body that we love to see and also has plenty of features that only help to enhance the experience in the cabin. New 300’s all come with a new N95 cabin air filter and the Comfort Group package, with the Touring L and 300S cars featuring an optional security alarm.

Styling

The 2022 300 sedan has stood the test of time with its defined lines, sculpted cheeks, and voluminous body. The two lesser trims involve a Chrome Appearance package that includes 20-inch polished alloy wheels, chrome-finished side mirror housings/window trim, and a deluxe-looking grille. For a more intensified look on all of these exterior elements, consider getting the Sport Appearance package, which provides a blacked-out appearance.

In comparison, the interior is quite simple, but more in a way that reads “I’m the new classic!” It has an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 7-inch instrument cluster. The analog clock and rotary gear shifter allow for a more progressive touch. Then, the Appearance Package on the 300S then tacks on body-colored aerodynamic accessories at the front, sides, and rear, along with upscale fog lights.

Performance

The 300 model has a standard 3.6-liter V6 powertrain, with a RWD system and optional AWD. It has an excellent output of 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain uses its 8-speed automatic to transfer power to either the rear or all four of the wheels. Acceleration is quite satisfactory, but of course, you’ll get a better performance with the 5.7-liter V8 on the 300S model.

The 300S’s powertrain has an output of 363 hp with 394 lb-ft of torque, and uses an 8-speed automatic. The car can also move from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds. Additionally, this model has paddle shifters that allow drivers to make personal changes to the gear.

Styling and Features

The inside of the 300 sedan is incredibly charming and endearing with its style and technological features. Passengers in the front seats will enjoy the best legroom that the cabin has to offer, along with plenty of truck space to work with (16.3 cubic-feet). Most models have Nappa leather material on the seats and even a heating feature for the front chairs.

The 2022 Chrysler 300 Decides To Clean Out Its Wardrobe By Eliminating Some Customizations

Stellantis’s wild-card brand, Chrysler is back at again with its famous 300 sedan. While the height of the car’s popularity seems long gone, for some reason the automaker sees enough potential to bring it back for another model year. As stated by MotorInsiders report, the 2022 Chrysler 300 will still be made available but with fewer options for customization, which mirrors the strategy already used for its current model year.

However, it is important to know that it’s not too late to purchase the 2021 300 sedan, as not only is this vehicle still available, the company is making its last calls to its dealerships to order this year’s model examples before the end of production in December. Although there aren’t any official details about the following model just yet, the Motor site is reporting limited options for personalizations.

That being said, for those who want to paint their hot rod with either Amethyst and Canyon Sunset, you won’t have much time left, since these particular options are set to be eliminated for the upcoming 300 car, making it your last chance to get a hold on certain options. In 2020, Chrysler halted the sale of the Ocean Blue Metallic in this same manner, and we’re sure that it won’t make a comeback for 2022.

One shouldn’t see it too much as a surprise of the changes that the Chrysler company is doing, as they’ve already converted their Voyager minivan to a fleet vehicle, and they are also pushing to create electrified platforms. In fact, they recently revealed a concept SUV in July for Electric Vehicle Day. It’s also putting together 4 EV platforms with the names: STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame. Commenting on these platforms, CEO of the Stellantis company, Carlos Tavares said “This is a wonderful opportunity to reset the clock and start a new race,”

There are even more options that we won’t see for the upcoming 2022 model year, which involve the 95$ Radar Red interior combination, along with the no-cost Black Smoke blend. On top of this, the Driver Convenience Group package, which includes 18-inch wheels, LED fog lamps, a remote start system, and a universal garage door opener will not be returning, together with the Chrome Appearance Package.

To be more specific, potential buyers will have until the end of this month to order a 2021 Chrysler 300 sedan, including any of the colors or packages that come with the car. These models will be produced by the end of December. Chrysler dealerships should be accepting orders for the 2022 model, as production is set to start before the end of this year. The 2022 300 models will then arrive at dealerships by the beginning of next year.

Chrysler 300, Dodge Models are Here to Stay for a Few More Years

In 2014, Italian and American automakers, Fiat and Chrysler joined forces and their merging ultimately led to them becoming the 8th largest automotive company worldwide. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) now has a multitude of brands underneath its umbrella and for FCA US, those brands include Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and even the Mopar service and parts organization.

Three beloved models from two of Fiat’s brands are making headlines this week after it was announced that they’re probably staying in the automotive market. The Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 will likely continue their road trippin’ adventures with us until at least 2024. In spite of numerous rumors of upcoming Dodge cars for the next-generation, it appears that the multinational company wants to keep the production of the vehicles at the main assembly plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

News of the extended lifespan of these models came to light with the new three-year labor agreement of Canadian auto union Unifor and FCA. This labor agreement encompasses an investment worth up to $38 million on FCA’s part, with their role being to bring “multiple derivatives” of the Charger and Challenger to life at the Brampton plant. All things considered, this investment isn’t considered to be a large one, as FCA established $1.2 billion separately in Canada, therefore this is the reason why any significant changes are considered to be a few more years away. The automaker refused to comment further in regards to the “derivatives” mentioned by the union.

Chit-chat concerning the future of the next-generation Charger and Challenger have whirled starting towards the end of the previous decade. There were some indications that seemed to signal a restyling of the muscle cars on Alfa’s Romeo’s Giorgio platform, which supports the Giulia sedan. Then, it appeared that a Maserati platform could be in the works. Soon before the late FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne’s passing two years ago, he said the cars could continue on their present LX platform with dealings involving Daimler. On the other hand, he also hinted the platforms would be thoroughly overhauled. Presently, it is not known what FCA is planning for the cars, and who knows if plans will change again with the merging of France’s PSA Group next year.

If there is anything that we can be sure of, these cars will be here to stay for the next few years with a new agreement taking place and money being invested in their assembly plant.

Miami Lakes Chrysler

For luxury models, the Chrysler 300 sedan is undoubtedly the brand’s most favored vehicle. This muscle car has everything to offer such as an interior that a great deal of legroom and comfort, user-friendly technologies, timeless styling, and of course its infamous V8 powerhouse engine option. The Hemi V8 has 363 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. For a ride that is absolutely thrilling, it’s recommended to combine the available engine with all-wheel-drive.

Miami Lakes Automall is selling the 2020 Chrysler 300 for around $30,000, (plus destination fee). Those who are interested in this vehicle or any of our other vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

Top 5 Chrysler Vehicles Of All Time

The All-American Chrysler brand was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925 when the Maxwell Motor Company let go of its controlling interest. Eventually, the new automaker gained much respect as being part of the U.S. Big Three for car manufacturers, from then on it evolved its strategies, styles and changed its name a few more times due to merging. Eventually, the brand became known as the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles that we all know and love today.

At the moment, it might appear that Chrysler is only good enough for its minivans, and although they are quite soccer mom-tastic, nothing could be further from the truth. The brand has made cars in a variety of different formats such as with its current full-size 300, as well as SUVs, sedans, and convertibles in previous years. While we can’t cover all of their incredible models on this list, we can give you their Top 5 Vehicles Of All Time.

2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen

No, your eyes aren’t fooling you, this ladies and gentlemen isn’t another mini, but a full-sized SUV produced by the brand. The Chrysler Aspen truck was designed from the inspiration of the Dodge Durango. The idea was to create a healthy marriage between a strong and robust SUV with posh variants. Unfortunately, this ritzy concept just wasn’t enough to entice buyers, as the prices weren’t too budget-friendly and the sales just didn’t show much promise. The truck finally met its demise in 2009.

2017- Chrysler Pacifica

This revived minivan is considered a youngster of this list, as its debut was only three years ago, and it seems to have been making well rounds in its segment. Its 3.6-liter V6 engine has a quite mighty engine choice with 287 horsepower, while its 2020 hybrid model can push up to 32 miles solely on electric power. The advanced entertainment and safety features also add on top of the reasons why this car has received a number of awards from the automotive industry and other companies.

1987-1995 LeBaron Convertible

Unlike generations before it, this 1987 LeBaron proved that the third generation was a charm with its incredible aerodynamic capabilities. Shying far away from its previous boxy style, into a more sporty and collected one you might find in your favorite 80’s Rom-Com. Though it certainly wasn’t built for drag racing, it won several in ARCA from 1988-1998. Eventually, the convertible was swapped with the automaker’s Cirrus, a.k.a cloud cars.

2005- Chrysler 300

Believe it or not, the Chrysler 300 still lives, but whether or not it’s actually thriving depends on your perspective. The main reason is likely due to its infamous V8 engine option which provides a drive that is simply off the charts. It’s currently Chrysler’s only luxury model, though its price isn’t too over-the-top compared to other luxury cars from competing brands.
