Stellantis Is Making An $83 Million Investment At The Dundee Engine Plant

Stellantis’s Hybrid-Based Investment

It was recently announced that Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, will be taking advantage of the Dundee Engine Plant for the production of two future hybrid electric models. The car factory in Dundee, Michigan is being reworked to act as the final assembly location for a 4-cylinder motor meant for two hybrids coming to the States.

As stated by a news release, the plant will experience an $83 million investment, with the production of the engine set to begin in early 2025.

The new 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged motor will be inspired by the current Stellantis engine in Europe and will be adaptable for hybrid-electric, or HEV, vehicle applications, according to the company. Stellantis says that this will be the first HEV engine for them in the region. The multinational automaker currently owns the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati brands.

“The Michigan plant will continue production of the 3.6-liter Pentastar Upgrade for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The Tigershark 2.4-liter I-4 engine will build out in the first quarter of 2023,” the company said.

It is not expected that the investment will not experience an impact on the number of full-time positions at the plant, as stated by spokeswoman Jodi Tinson. Since June, Dundee has 987 workers under them (853 hourly and 134 salaried), as stated by the company.

This is the largest piece of a total $99 million investment for Dundee that was announced by Stellantis, which the car manufacturer matched to its Dare Forward 2030 business plan. The release stated the company would also finance over $14 million at the Kokomo Casting Plant in Indiana to transfigure die-cast machines and cells for the new engine, as well as $2 million at Etobicoke Casting in Toronto for advancements and new tooling to produce the engine’s new oil pans.

UAW (United Automobile Workers) President Ray Curry addressed the announcement in a statement, saying that “when companies invest in UAW facilities, they are recognizing that UAW members add value to the company’s success.”

UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada, who heads the Stellantis Department for the union, said that it was great news.

“This investment in a new four-cylinder engine will add job security for the members who continue to build ICE products as the industry transitions to electrification. The hard work and dedication of the UAW Stellantis membership to build great products with world class quality has been recognized and rewarded today,” Estrada said in a statement, referring to the abbreviation for the internal combustion engine.

Chrysler Files To Trademark Its Airflow Concept

The Chrysler Airflow concept has been the focal point of a recent application for patent filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), however, it’s still not clear if the car company is considering a production version.

It was Jan 3rd, 2020, when the application was filed and then published on May 3, 2022, covering the ornamental design for an automobile,” and involves images of the Airflow electric SUV concept that has already been shown publicly, twice within the past few months.

The concept, which gets its moniker from Chrysler’s inventive aerodynamic models from the 1930s, was originally shown at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. The lustrous crossover has an electric motor (worth 201 horsepower) that activates each axle and supposedly has a range between 350 miles and 400 miles.

Outside of the powertrain, the Airflow may also have new connectivity features that we should potentially see in Chrysler vehicles sooner rather than later. These features include an operating system dubbed the STLA Brain, which will make way for over-the-air updates.

The Airflow concept also acted as a showcase for Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company’s new electrical architecture (STLA Brain), infotainment system (STLA SmartCockpit), and driver-assist technology (STLA AutoDrive).

The second version was introduced in April of this year at the New York auto show. Named Airflow Graphite, its changes were mainly cosmetic. Chrysler chooses to implement a new black exterior and Gray interior, with divergent copper accents from the inside-out. The company also expressed during this time that the Airflow was made in a way in which more powerful motors could be outfitted, perhaps for a performance version.

On top of this, the Airflow Graphite features a new Galaxy Black exterior with a Cyprus Copper interior. Accents on the outer body accentuate the sleekness and refined aura of this darkened concept. It was derived from the idea of sophistication and an urban feel, making one feel, “at home navigating amid big city skylines” as said by the parent company’s media site, Stellantis Media.

Chrysler has remained hush-hush regarding its plans for a production version of its Airflow concept. Seeing that the application for the patent was filed two years ago, Chrysler was likely trying to protect the design to use on concept models. The automaker confirmed that it will release its first production EV in 2025, and will only sell electric vehicles in 2028. Those electrics will be derived from four modular platforms from Stellantis, which were revealed in July 2021 of last year.

A Deeper Dive Into The 2022 Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 sedan remains to be a freak of nature in the world of sedans, as its highlighting optional V8 engine is something that most large cars don’t have. You can prepare to be astounded by its exhilarating acceleration and captivating drive, while it somehow manages to achieve 25 mpg on the highway.

This time around, we’re paying attention to more internal elements, such as its interior style and upscale features. Let’s Dive Deeper Into The 2022 Chrysler 300.

Design

The Chrysler 300 remains cool and collected for 2022, and retains that modish muscular style that its fans love. It draws your attention with its intense and domineering gaze, and it keeps your focus with cool exterior elements on the 300S models, such as blacked-out features, and the standard Red S Appearance Package. The base 300 Touring model has a Chrome Appearance package that provides a more polished look such as 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome-finished side mirror housings/window trim, and a platinum type of grille and surround. At the same time, the Sport Appearance package coats all of these elements black.

Color options for this model year also amount to Bright White, Frostbite, Gloss Black, Granite Crystal, Silver Mist, and Velvet Red.

Looking on the inside, you’ll see that Chrysler isn’t too shy when it comes to showing off. One of the ways it does this is by its large trunk, specifically sized at 16 cubic feet. Moving towards the front, the dashboard and seats appear to have been suited up with high-end and ritzy materials. Additional elements such as an analog clock, rotary gear selector, and a 7-inch instrument cluster reinforces the cabin’s already posh look.

Interior colors remain simple, with Black or Black with Linen.

Convenience

There’s much more fun in store with these top-grade comfort features. The 300 sedan has a long list of in-car excitements, with many of them standard, like keyless entry/ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, a new N95 cabin air filter, self-dimming rearview mirror, LED lighting for the front cup holders, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

It also comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen for an infotainment stream that involves Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, satellite radio, voice control, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker audio system.

The 300 Touring L model then adds on LED fog lights, remote start, heated front seats, Nappa leather seating surfaces, 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, front/rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot monitoring system. The 300S also tacks on a sporty suspension, a Sport driving mode, 20-inch alloy wheels, paddle shifters mounted beneath the steering wheel, sporty front seats, and a 276-watt/6-speaker audio setup.

On top of all of this, there is a Comfort package, specifically available for the Touring L and 300S. It comes with ventilated front seats, adaptive/self-leveling headlights, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, an upgraded alarm system upgrade, a power-adjustable steering column with memory (only for the 300S), and a driver’s-side mirror that automatically when the gear is in reverse.

Safety Features

Chrysler doesn’t forget about safety. Buyers can relax knowing that the 300 car has a four-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It also has available safety features that consist of automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.

The 2022 Chrysler 300 Trim By Trim

The 2022 Chrysler 300 is the American standard of what a luxury sedan should look and act like. It’s currently available in a 300 Touring, 300 Touring L, and fast-paced 300S. Choosing between these all depends on one budget and particular preferences, here are some elements to consider.

2022 Chrysler 300 Touring

MSRP at $35,140

The 300 Touring is the entry-level model of the 300 lineup. It comes with the famous and trustworthy 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, with a stellar output of 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The motor is also paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which according to Consumer Reports, allows for faster acceleration. On top of this, the Touring model amounts to a suitable 22 mpg combined.

This big brute also comes with an expansive interior and comfortable seating. The interior also features an easy-to-use Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and backup camera. Users will find that the Uconnect is highly intelligent and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2022 Chrysler Touring L

MSRP at $38,340

The 300 Touring L is a bit of an upgrade from the base Touring, as it consists of plushy leather upholstery, heated seats, and a set of glossy 18-inch wheels. It is worth noting, however, that there is no optional V8 for the Touring L as it also journeys with the Pentastar V6 and 8-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system also serves as an option for Touring L and Touring trims, which consumers living in states with harsh winter conditions will appreciate.

2022 Chrysler 300S

MSRP at $43,750

The 300 S sedan is the highest and finest trim of them all. It gives its buyers the option to pick between the 3.6L V6 and the mighty 363 horsepower V8 engine. Along with the extra comfort of this model, the 300S has upgrades that are aesthetically pleasing, such as a unique grille design and wheels.

The V6 vs. The V8?

The Chrysler 300 is quite comfortable for all five of its occupants. The 300S can be had with the optional V8 engine. In comparison, the V6 accelerates the 300 to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds, while the V8 equipped 300S will zoom out in 5.3 seconds. One should know that V8 buyers will end up trading fuel economy for horsepower, as the V8 requires a lot more energy than the Pentastar.

The V8 motor is also matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, perfect for making smooth shifts and cruising along the freeway. Along with its high-life performance, the engineers have tuned its suspension into one made for a race car driver. The 300S also has a sport mode with paddle shifters further supporting that added athleticism.

The Chrysler Airflow Reconceptualized In A Graphite Form

Last week, (Apr, 13), Chrysler unveiled its Graphite-formed version of its fully-electric Airflow Concept, specifically at the 2022 New York International Auto Show.

Originally presented at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the Chrysler Airflow Concept was re-introduced in a new Graphite formation, offering a redefining what the future of the brand looks like as it heads towards an eco-friendly future.

This new version of the Airflow features a new Galaxy Black exterior with a Cyprus Copper interior. Accents on the outer body accentuate the sleekness and refined aura of the Graphite Concept’s official global auto show introduction.

The automaker also revealed at CES in January that it would launch its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) by 2025 and offer a fully-electrified vehicle lineup for Chrysler by 2028.

“The Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept, the latest version of our all-electric concept, represents the many possibilities on our brand’s road to an all-electric future,” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO – Stellantis. “This new persona of the Airflow highlights the flexibility of the Chrysler brand’s future design direction and our ability to create personalities reflective of our diverse customers. As our brand evolves to offer a full battery-electric vehicle portfolio, we are completely rethinking and reinventing the customer experience. Project Ingenuity is an initiative in which we collaborate with customers on our future innovations and services, offering uniquely personalized and delightful customer experiences throughout the purchase, service and ownership journey.”

Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept

During the early stages of the development of the Airflow, there were a slew of possible designs for the fully-electric model, which included the Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept.

The revamped Airflow Graphite Concept involves a Galaxy Black exterior body color. It was derived from the idea of sophistication and an urban feel, making one feel, “at home navigating amid big city skylines” as said by the parent company’s media site, Stellantis Media. The Galaxy Black hue also has a dramatic contrast to the Arctic White exterior that was initially shown on the Airflow Concept at CES.

This new exterior paint job is combined with Cyprus Copper accents on the outside, as well as the inside, to mark the Graphite Concept with its own cultured and polished design. The  Cyprus Copper accents also highlight the top of the panoramic glass roof, along with the certain surfaces of the 22-inch wheels.

The interior of the latest Airflow interaction can be described as regal and spacious. It implements the light Ice Grey and warm Cyprus Copper accents to create a rich and deluxe feel. This cabin exudes the essence of a first-class lounge and provides the ultimate comfort, acting as a sort of home away from home. There are also premium features and finishes, which involve sustainable materials and a soothing color palette, which only enhances the comforting feel.

All Of The Reasons To Buy A 2022 Chrysler 300

Despite the rising popularity of SUVs and crossovers, the 2022 Chrysler 300 sedan still manages to stand out… for all of the right reasons. Offered with an MSRP of $32,215, (plus destination fee), the car still has all of the great features that it had before, along with stellar driving dynamics, a spacious interior, and fun in-car features. Here are All Of The Reasons To Buy A 2022 Chrysler 300.

Optional V8 Motor

One of the most enticing features of the Chrysler 300 is its optional 5.7-liter HEMI naturally aspirated V8 engine, which is matched with a 8-speed automatic transmission. Of course, the performance is the most outstanding of its segment, with an output of 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, this car can zoom from 0-60 mph in just 5.3 seconds.

The transmission is quick to respond and there is a suitable amount of grip, even for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model.

Enormous Cabin

Another thing that Chrysler’s 300 sedans are known for is being plentiful in cabin space. There is more than enough shoulder and headroom for five all five occupants, the best in its class. The legroom is also promising. Leather upholstery and other conveniences are also provided on higher trims.

Getting in and out of the rear seats is quite easy, especially with the car’s fairly wide opening. While inside, there is superb space and comfort for three adults, which is one area that the 300 totally dismembers the competition. Other elements like the under-thigh and lower back support are equally exceptional. Truck capacity also amounts to 16.3 cu ft.

Design That Stands The Test Of Time

It’s not often that a car company is able to create a design that is successfully recycled for years on end, but Chrysler seemingly made an evergreen style for its 300. This deluxe offering will make anyone feel like royalty. In fact, it was previously the go-to car for many celebrities and politicians from its first inception. Exterior elements like the sharp LED headlights, bold front-end design, and charming and clean character lines are what make this car an absolute head-turner.

There are six color combinations that are offered with this vehicle, all of which help highlight the All-American design language. There are also small hints and touches like 20″ wheels, chrome window lining, LED tail lights, and the blacked-out elements that just scream: “I’m important to onlookers.”

Spectacular Infotainment System

The brand’s Uconnect 8.4″ touchscreen infotainment system is a part of the many standard features across the three trims. Front seat passengers will revel in the easy-to-use and high-quality touch-sensitive interface.

With the 300, there will be plenty of entertainment options at your disposal with features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, in-dash navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. Is worth noting, however, that some of these are only accessible through the Comfort Package. The 9-speaker Alpine audio system is also another delightful touch to the Chrysler in-car experience.

Stellantis’s $4 Billion Investment Into Windsor and U.S. Battery Plants

Stellantis and LG Energy Solution in South Korea have announced that they are investing $4 billion to construct an electric vehicle battery plant, which will be located in Windsor, Ontario.

The parent company of Chrysler revealed their new plant Wednesday (March 23rd), and also said that they’re aiming to build a second battery plant at a location in the States, as said by Mark Stewart, chief operating officer for Stellantis in North America. He says that the investment in these places will showcase the brand’s electrification plans.

“It shows … we are absolutely committed to 50% EVs, full on (battery electric vehicles), by the end of the decade,” Stewart said during a press conference from Windsor, which aired via Facebook.

Stellantis previously revealed its agreement with Samsung SDI, a storage battery manufacturing company (based in South Korea) for the U.S., however, Stewart didn’t explicitly mention Samsung as being its additional collaborator for batteries. On top of this, the automaker is aiming for three plants in Europe, revealing in a separate announcement that it’s working to turn the brand’s Termoli plant in Italy into a battery facility, as part of a partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

Construction on the 220-acre in Windsor will likely start later this year, as production is set to launch during the first quarter of 2024, as told in a joint announcement and the press conference. It’s expected to be the first comprehensive EV battery plant in Canada, which also claims to create 2,500  new jobs.

The companies didn’t specify which vehicles would be supplied by the plant’s lithium-ion battery cells and modules, just that it would “meet a significant portion” the company’s production needs in the U.S. Regardless, in tuned with plans for an electric Ram 1500 pickup and Dodge muscle car, which are brands that Stellantis also owns.

Stewart also mentioned that the battery plant would supply the production of vehicles across the States.

Carlos Tavares, Stellantis’s CEO, talked about the company’s plans, which involve $35 billion (30 billion euros) investments, in relation to EVs, across its 14 brands through 2025.

“Our joint venture with LG Energy Solution is yet another stepping stone to achieving our aggressive electrification roadmap in the region aimed at hitting 50 percent of battery electric vehicle sales in the U.S. and Canada by the end of the decade,” Tavares said in a news release. “We are grateful to the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government for their support and commitment to help position Canada as a North American leader in the production of electric vehicle batteries.”

The release didn’t go into detail regarding the nature of public support for the operations, but it did say that every level of government was in full support of the operation.

The release also noted the Windsor region is home to Canada’s largest automotive cluster.

The global semiconductor chip shortage, along with the recent trucker protest that shut down the Ambassador Bridge, highlight the challenges the car industry has faced.

The announcement expressed that the companies “expect the plant to serve as a catalyst for the establishment of a strong battery supply chain in the region. Canada is committed to establishing a broad, local battery ecosystem by leveraging, among other things, its leadership in the generation of electricity from renewable sources.”

Youngsoo Kwon, CEO of LG Energy Solution, said “through this joint venture, LG Energy Solution will be able to position itself as a critical player in building green energy value chains in the region. Creating a joint venture battery manufacturing company in Canada, recognized as one of the leading nations in renewable energy resources, is key for LG Energy Solution as we aim to power more electric vehicles around the world.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mentioned in a news release that the “announcement of a world leading facility to build electric vehicle batteries in Windsor is an investment in our workers, our communities and our future. Partnerships like these are critical to creating new jobs and putting Canada on the cutting edge of the clean economy.”

Drew Dilkens, Windsor Mayor, also shared in a news release that Stellantis is Windor’s largest employer, with Chrysler’s operations going back to 1925.

“With this announcement, we are securing the future for thousands more local workers and securing Windsor’s strategic location as the home of Canada’s electric vehicle future. As the world pivots to EVs, Windsor will soon be home to the battery manufacturing facility that powers it all,” Dilkens said in the release.

Michelle Krebs, an executive analyst for Autotrader, said the news is significant for Canadian auto workers.

“It’s good news for Stellantis’ employees in Canada, who have been worried about where they stand with their jobs. We’ll be looking forward to seeing where Stellantis will be making its EVs,” she said.

Stellantis Shows Its Support For Ukraine

Chrysler Stands With Ukraine

Subsidiary of Stellantis, Chrysler, recently announced its commitment to donating $1.1 million or 1 million euros in humanitarian aid for refugees and civilians in Ukraine, as a response to those displaced because of the Russian invasion.

According to a news release, the car company said that it would work via a local, non-governmental organization to aid the effort. This is following Ford’s announcement that it would use the Ford Fund to donate $100,000 to the Global Giving Ukraine Relief Fund.

In the release, the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares said that the company condemns violence and aggression and that its focus “in this time of unprecedented pain” is the health and safety of its Ukrainian employees and families.

In the release, Tavares said, “An aggression that shook a world order, already unsettled by uncertainty, has been launched. The Stellantis community, made of 170 nationalities, looks with dismay as civilians flee the country. Even if the scale of causalities is not yet apparent, the human toll will be unbearable.”

Stellantis, which is also the owner of Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Fiat brands, has staffers in Russia and Ukraine. The fate of three of the automaker’s 71 Ukrainian personnel was initially unclear, but Wednesday, (March 2nd), spokeswoman Lilia Mokroussova revealed that they were all safe.

The car manufacturer also said that it has a “24/7” support team that monitors the health and safety of those staffers.

According to Mokroussova, Stellantis’s plant in Kaluga, Russia was up and running. In spite of this, the future is still uncertain, particularly regarding the Western sanctions.

Other car companies, such as Ford and General Motors have revealed that they are ceasing their operations in Russia.

Chrysler’s parent company also commented, “whatever the business consequences, Stellantis will apply all of the sanctions decided.”

Electrified Ways Chrysler Is Giving Back

The brand known for its family-friendly Pacifica minivans and once-popular 300 sedan aims for car lovers to give it a different look. The goal is to reinvent itself into a fully-electric car company by 2028, as they announced in January of this year.

Their new Chrysler Airflow crossover concept market the start of these plans, as it was unveiled virtually for the CES (Consumer Technology Association) technology show in Las Vegas. The tech-centered car is “a nod” to a car that the automaker aims to release in 2025, as said by Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell.

Feuell also said that the untitled production crossover will be the first of at least two of three new fully-electric models, including a minivan, scheduled by 2028. Chrysler will take the lead of Stellantis’s $35.5 billion electric vehicle plans.

“When we sought to redefine and revitalize the Chrysler brand, we needed to make sure that we were creating differentiation within the Stellantis portfolio as well as compared to the competition,” she told CNBC during an online interview. “We will be adding one new product per year once we launch our first new product … and expanding that lineup between then and 2028.”

Stellantis Stands To Make A Big Profit From Its Electric Models

Stellantis’s New Business Plans

Stellantis, previously dubbed Fiat Chrysler, aims to double its net revenues, specifically 300 billion euros or $335 billion by 2030, as announced last Tuesday by CEO Carlos Tavares.

During an investor presentation, highlighting Stellantis’s business plans through 2020, Tavares said that the automaker’s strategy in doubling the operating profit margin is maintaining double digits in the operating profit margin as it makes moves to make a full-on transition to electric vehicles.

The plans mimic that of other big-name car manufacturers with examples like Volkswagen and General Motors to remain gainful while shifting to fully-electric cars. Global emission regulations have strongly led to the influence on automakers to make the electric transmission and Tesla has certainly taken the most advantage of this rise, becoming the world’s most valued car market, in regards to the market cap.

Stellantis, which is ranked as the 4th largest car manufacturer, plans on expanding its software-based companies and services, selling million fully-electric models by 2030, which also involves passenger car sales in Europe and 50 percent passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks in North America.

“We are moving, and we are moving fast to be a mobility-tech company,” Tavares said during the presentation.

Chrysler’s parent company aims to accumulate over 20 billion euros ($22.3 billion) in industrial free cash flow by 2030. On top of this, it’s aiming towards a 25-30 percent dividend payout ratio and plans on repurchasing up to 5 percent of outstanding common shares through 2025.

The company also says that they’re progressing towards carbon-neutrality by 2028, aiming towards a 50 percent reduction by 2030.

Despite these announcements, the company’s stock figures didn’t show much change. Stellantis shares from New York’s Stock Exchange actually went down 8 percent, at $16.82 a share earlier this month.

The merger of Fiat Chrysler and France-based Groupe PSA in January of last year (2021) created Stellantis. This unification resulted in 14 separate automotive brands, including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, and Peugeot.

Stellantis aims to release a minimum of 25 new fully-electric cars in North America by 2030, according to Tavares. Amid the first will be a small Jeep SUV in 2023, along with a Dodge muscle car and Ram pickup the year after. On a global scale, the automaker should be set to offer over 75 electrics by 2030.

Additionally, Stellantis is backing 30 billion euros ($34 billion) in EVs and financing technologies through 2025.

The automaker’s electrified strategy, which is close to term, is different from other car manufacturers. The reason is that it still aims to release plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in the coming years. PHEV models fuse electric systems and batteries with internal combustion engines.

Electrified Chrysler and Jeep Models Are Getting New Wall Chargers

New Wall Chargers

For those who currently own an adventurous Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or Jeep Wrangler 4xe, or perhaps even a family-oriented Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Mopar, the parts and service division of Stellantis, is bringing in a useful piece of new gear that should provide more practicality in the ownership experience. Owners will soon be in possession of a new at-home wall charger that comes either as a plug-in or hardwired version, and supplies 7.7 kW of power.

With these means, a full charge can be provided to Stellantis electrics in just two hours, which is six times faster than its current Level 1, 120-volt charger. Further tacking on suitability, the new Level 2 unit brings along Wi-Fi connectivity which enables owners to keep track and control the charging of their car through a mobile app or web portal.

Energy Star, a program run by the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy, has certified every new charging unit and has also optimized for a balance between accessibility, effectiveness, and cost. Doing this makes it easier for buyers to reduce their energy consumption and lower their spending by having the option charge at low-rate times. Additionally, this makes a way for them to engage in energy credit programs, if they’re available.

The Mopar division says that the wall charger is portable, lightweight, lockable, and weatherproof, meaning that it’s an ideal piece of equipment for indoors and outdoors. The suggested retail price is $599, and each unit comes with a three-year warranty. One can also order the unit with a Chrysler and Jeep-branded faceplate.

“Our new factory-backed at-home Level 2 plug-in charging units offer a quick, seamless charging solution for Jeep 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid owners,” said Mark Bosanac, North America vice president, Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care. “At Mopar, we’ll continue to enhance the customer experience and expand our electric-vehicle portfolio of accessories.”

Mopar’s new wall charger signifies what we should expect out of the Stellantis Group during this decade, as their products are currently on grease wheels regarding its electrified products. One of these products includes the Chrysler Airflow concept, which is a preview of how the manufacturer is aiming to expand into a principally-electric company by 2028 by exploiting all of the capabilities of the STLA Large electric platform.

Earlier this month we discussed how Chrysler announced its plans to release its first electric model by 2025. So far, the plan is to introduce the Airflow as a crossover that is energized by a dual-motor and has enough battery capacity to get up to 400 miles of range.
