The Pacifica’s Fam Cam Actually Gives Parents Eyes In The Back Of Their Head

Chrysler Pacifica Fam Cam

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and several other official public health agencies highly encourage parents to place their little ones in a rear-facing child seat from the time they’re born until 4 years of age. What this means is that parents sitting in the front seats won’t be able to properly monitor their kids, requiring a mirror that they can see from the rearview mirror of the car. For parents who often shovel their child’s rear-facing seat between multiple vehicles throughout the week, this can especially be a pain after a while…unless they have the Chrysler Pacifica’s “Fam Cam.”

Lurking between the Pacifica’s second and third row is a sleek black disk in the ceiling that involves cameras that show video images of the back seat rows. There are also daylight color and nighttime infrared camera views on top of this. One can expand one of the second-row seats for an improved view. There are several options that make it as though you’re sitting right next to your tinny tot, and definitely much more convenient than looking at a mirror.

Essentially, it’s hard to see a child at night using a rearview mirror. While turning the light from overhead can help, it might also risk waking up the little critter and causing an undesirable crying fit. Certain backseat positions of the car may also mean that the forward-facing mirror sits below the line of sight of the rearview mirror. In other words, you’ll have to decide between seeing your child or seeing what’s happening behind the car, another pro of the Fam Cam.

Here’s another advantage. It’s usually quite challenging, almost impossible to fix both a forward-facing mirror and a tablet holder simultaneously. One could theoretically get around this by connecting a mirror to the head restraint of the middle seating position, but that’s assuming one isn’t driving a vehicle with captain’s chairs. The Fam Cam is clearly the better option.

Additional Fun Features

Uconnect 5

The Chrysler Pacifica is known for its famous Uconnect infotainment system, with its Uconnect 5 being its most advanced yet. It fuses features such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, HD Radio and satellite radio, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Uconnect Theater

This available entertainment system allows rear-seat passengers to also get in the action. It involves two 10.1-inch touchscreens, wireless streaming, wireless headphones, Amazon Fire TV for Auto, as well as built-in video games.

All-Wheel Drive

This optional drive system is nearly essential for those residing in cold-weather states or any driver that simply desires augmented traction.

Stow’ n Go Seats

Likely one of the most sought-after elements of a minivan, and for good reason. This inventive standard feature enables one to fold the second-row seats into the floor to allow for a flat, functional cargo space.

2023 Chrysler 300S Is Coming Back…In Limited Form

2023 Chrysler 300S

Stellantis’ diamond in the rough, Chrysler, revealed its last 2023 300C model in September of last year. More specifically, a HEMI-powered model. The full-size 6.4-liter V8 was restricted to just 2,000 units, which were all sold out within 12 hours following the opening of the order books. It also came with enhancements, like a refined interior with carbon fiber accents, Brembo brakes, and adaptive suspension, commonly found on Dodge Charger and Challenger Scat Pack models.

While plenty of those missed out on the initial opening, one still might have a chance to purchase a V8-powered 300.

According to information based on dealership documents, Mopar Insiders says that Chrysler plans on releasing a more economical 300S version of the car for the 2023 model year. Allegedly, it should get the automaker’s 5.7-liter V8 paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, transferring power to the rear wheels. This less forceful 300 model can also be geared quite well with features like heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and updated driving assist systems.

As with the 300C, the production of the 300S sedan will be limited. As maintained by the car blog site, only 1,450 models of the V8-charged car will be constructed in 2023, meaning that it will be even more limited than the 300C speed racer.

One should know that the famous automaker will also release a version of the 300S that is geared with a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine. This powertrain has an optimal output of 300 horsepower with 264 lb-ft of torque. This version is more affordable than the 300C; however, it is much slower than the 300S and 300C. More specifically, this version takes 7.1 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour or 96 kilometers per hour, compared to 5.3 and 4.3 for the 300S and 300C, successively.

Based on the information we currently have, the 300S V8 will be priced at $50,975 (plus the destination fee). On the other hand, the 300S V6 will be thriftier with $43,750 (plus destination fee). To compare, the now unavailable 300C had a starting price of $56,595 (plus destination), which is the most expensive 2023 Chrysler 300 model. Moreover, the production of the 300S V6 will allegedly be restricted to 850 units.

Here’s something worth getting excited about! The reservation books for the 2023 Chrysler 300S in both V6 and V8 models have yet to open, meaning there is still some time to purchase a new 300 sedan.

The Hidden Adventurous Spirit Of The Chrysler 300 Sedan

The Chrysler 300 has had an extensive quite a term as an economical luxury sedan with a vast range of options. While this car is heading towards retirement quite soon, with its near-twin, the Dodge Charger, there are still some hidden gems about the vehicle that we need to discuss. It might inspire you to choose this last Chrysler 300 model as your road-trip vehicle for your next holiday break.

Is Chrysler 300 A Good Traveling Partner?

More often than not, when a reviewer site talks about the Chrysler 300, they hype up its incredible motorized power and design quality. While this is undoubtedly true about the vehicle, it’s also an ideal choice for regular road trippers.

First, this car is highly generous with its luggage and interior space. More specifically, the 2023 Chrysler 300 has 16.3 cubic-foot trunk space, even more so when the seats are folded. This figure is almost 2.0 cubes more than the Nissan Maxima. It’s only when buyers opt for the optional V6 engine that it’s slightly less than the Toyota. Regardless, this bad boy is well-equipped to ensure its kicks stay planted on the road in difficult weather conditions.

The starting MSRP price of the newest Chrysler is $33,545 (plus destination fee). It’s more economical than some rivals like the Toyota Avalon and Nissan Maxima.

How Does It Fair With Fuel Economy?

The standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 for the Chrysler 300 may not exactly be on par with the Toyota Avalon Hybrid fuel economy figures, but it’s still a beast in saving gas. The V6-powered brute achieves about 19 mpg city and 30 mph on the highway. Of course, all-wheel-drive (AWD) models have lower figures.

Alternatively, if the priority is performance rather than fuel economy, the 300S trim offers an optional 363-horsepower 5.7L Hemi V8. On top of this, the 300’s SRT8 trim from previous model years has a 6.4L V8 or 6.1L V8, contingent on the model year.

Is The Chrysler 300 AWD Reliable?

The Chrysler 300 and 300 AWD models scored above average for reliability. RepairPal states that the 2022 Chrysler model achieved a 3.5 out of 5.0. Meanwhile, the car received 7th place out of 12 for full-size sedans.

The reliability score of the 300 sedan is on par with the Nissan Maxima; however, Chrysler’s hot rod superseded Nissan’s car by two spots in overall reliability. Moreover, RepairPal states that the Chrysler 300 has a repair cost of nearly $631, annually. This figure is equivalent to the average for similar vehicles. Although the 300 is precisely promoted as a road trip vehicle as it would a Toyota, it is more than reliable enough to be a trusted traveling buddy.

The End Of An Era

Despite all of these positives, this will be Chrysler’s last year manufacturing the 300 sedans, as it’s making room for a series of hybrids and all-electric vehicles to get a chance to shine. However, there is still plenty of time to enjoy this car, along with previous models that are still up and running on dealership lots.

Chrysler Showcases Its Synthesis Cockpit Demonstrator At The CES 2023

Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit Demonstrator

Last week, Wednesday (January 4), Chrysler introduced their Synthesis Cockpit demonstrator at the 2023 CES (Consumer Electronics Show), providing a progressive glimpse into the company’s future and tasting the first implementation of new Stellantis technologies for the U.S. The Chrysler Synthesis shows the application of the brand’s modern, technologically-advanced and ecological interior design.

The Chrysler Synthesis displays intricate technologies, particularly with the brand’s AI-powered platforms: TLA Smart Cockpit, STLA Brain, and STLA AutoDrive. These technologies are integral in fusing contemporary and high-class design with intelligible, futuristic technology and features. The Synthesis platform helps make sense of everyday life and thoughtfully manage human-related friction through its technologies.

The two-seater Synthesis also demonstrates the next step in the car manufacturer’s electric transformation, expanding on the reveal of the Chrysler Airflow Concept at CES 2022, along with the announcement that the company will release its first battery-electric car in 2025 and a full battery-electric lineup in 2028. The automaker’s gradual move towards a fully-electric future lines up with their strategic Dare Forward 2030 plan revealed by Stellantis last year, mapping out the automaker’s steps for the future.

“For nearly 100 years, Chrysler has created innovative products and technologies for mainstream customers. Chrysler will continue that legacy of innovation as the first to launch the STLA Smart Cockpit in North America. The Chrysler Synthesis shown at CES 2023 represents the future of Chrysler brand design, technology, and customer experience by introducing customer-centric design and intuitive, seamlessly connected technology for real life,” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO – Stellantis. “Chrysler is focused on delivering Harmony In Motion for every aspect of the customer experience with the product, technology, purchase, and ownership experiences, resulting in harmony with the planet, our products, services, and customer experiences.”

Chrysler Airflow Concept

The Chrysler Airflow concept is the first step towards the brand paving the way towards electrified glory. The brand has stayed committed to releasing its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in 2025, offering a fully sustainable portfolio in 2028.

The Airflow Concept showcases all the ways to make the driver’s digital lifestyle easier via its in-car experience. This EV has several display screens for the driver and front-seat passenger, a central infotainment display, ad rear-seats. The company says these screens have a new software interface that can download over-the-air updates.

In the early stages of the development of the Airflow, there were numerous design styles for the concept, together with the original concept revealed at CES 2022. This also included the alternative version of the model that was introduced at the 2022 New York International Auto Show.

For the CES 2023, the Chrysler Synthesis that was on display derived from the Chrysler Airflow design, demonstrating the next step in the company’s move forward into a fully-electric lineup and acting as a sampling of the brand’s future design language.
