Chrysler’s Airflow EV Is More Than Just A Concept

Chrysler Airflow EV Concept

At long last! Chrysler revealed its first new models in several years, and it appears to be in the form of an electric crossover. More specifically, a crossover that could potentially flaunt the classic Airflow nameplate. This new car was first shown during parent company Stellantis’ EV Day event at the beginning of this year. Now, more information has been revealed regarding this concept piece, which is supposed to display new technology, which encompass electric platforms, driver-assistance features, and infotainment software.

On Software Day, CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares said during the company’s presentation that its “more than a pure concept” and suggested that this car could arrive in production by 2024, backed by North American trademarks for the Airflow name, which was filed in 2019 and again this year (2021).

It isn’t an accident that Chryler’s new model nearly mirrors the shape and proportions of Ford’s Mustang Mach-E. Car and Driver’s winner of EV of the Year is already seeing success in sales in the car market. Although we don’t know the precise size of the Airflow, it seems highly probable that it will serve as a competitor for the Mach-E and other electric compact crossovers like Tesla’s Model Y and Volkswagen’s ID.4.

Stellantis has already announced their intentions to build four new EV platforms, which encompass: STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame. It’s quite possible that the Airflow would end up on STLA Medium. According to previous statements Stellantis has made about its new electric models, this means that it could reach a driving range of up to 440 miles and use electric motors that produce between 167 and 241 horsepower. It’s also likely that there will be an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor option.

Inward, the Airflow features an exciting bundle of screens, starting with a large central infotainment display that’s sandwiched between separate screens for the driver and passenger. There are also entertainment screens for the rear seats. Connectivity features will presumably involve over-the-air updates and vehicle-to-vehicle communication.

Although the timeline of the production of Chrysler’s Airflow certainly isn’t concrete, we can deduce from the fact that it has side marker lights and exterior mirrors that it will arrive in showrooms a bit sooner than we might expect. Stellantis is aiming at 2024 for its new platforms, so it’s plausible that this Chrysler model will make its way to North America by 2025.

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Review

New Features

Everyone’s favorite high-class minivan is back at it again for 2022, and this time around it’s bringing new in-car technologies, such as a standard fitted air filter and optional Amazon Fire TV. There’s even a new Silver Mist color choice joining the exterior palette.

Features that have been carried over from previous model years include maximum seating for 8 passengers, a generous amount of standard entertainment and safety features, along with optional all-wheel-drive (AWD). Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica.

The newest Pacifica is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which produces a healthy output of 287 horsepower with 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission, which allows for a respectable highway fuel economy of 28 mpg (FWD) and  25 mpg (AWD).

Front-wheel-drive (FWD) serves as the standard transmission, while AWD is standard on top two trims but also optional on the Touring and Touring L. There is also a fuel-saving stop/start system that activates while the car is either parked or at a stoplight, however, this can be turned off for those who find the constant restarts quite maddening.

The Pacifica doesn’t stray too far from its design from the 2021 model year, but it’s still considered sleek and sexy for a minivan. However, if you really want to amplify the car’s style, you might want to opt for the highest-ranking Pinnacle, as this model has available 20-inch alloy wheels, while the inside shows off its quilted Nappa leather upholstery and lumbar pillows for the second row.

Color options include Bright White Clearcoat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearlcoat, Ceramic Gray Clearcoat, Fathom Blue Pearlcoat, Granite Crystal Metallic Clearcoat, Velvet Red Pearlcoat, and the new Silver Mist Clearcoat.

The Pacifica can house eight seats (seven for AWD models), with more than enough room for your long-legged friends in the third row. However, the Pinnacle model has seven seats, since it has a set of captain’s chairs in the second row.

The seats are pleasant and snug, while the optional FamCam interior camera helps parents keep an eye on their little ones. There’s also a standard “conversation mirror” added to the rearview mirror.

As expected, the luggage area already has a spacious 32.3 cubic feet of room, which expands to a maximum of 140.5 when the second and third-row seats are down.

Standards and Options

Features you’ll find on the standard Pacifica Touring include keyless entry/ignition, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, active noise cancellation, stowable seats in the second and third rows, and a self-dimming mirror with a remote garage door opener.

The Chrysler company prioritizes the safety of its occupants, as it has a comprehensive list of technologies meant for the welfare of you and your passengers. Safety technologies include forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, rain-sensing wipers, hill-start assist, and automatic high beams, along with an abundance of airbags.

Features that are more entertainment-centered involve a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 6-speaker audio setup. This setup also has wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa compatibility, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and satellite radio.

While all of these features are certainly captivating, we encourage buyers to at least upgrade to the Touring L, as this vehicle adds on perforated leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, heated/leather-wrapped steering wheel, sunshades for the back two rows, an augmented center console with illuminated cup holders, and a self-parking function.

The next upgrade would be the Pacifica Limited, which comes with a 3-pane panoramic sunroof, hands-free sliding side door and tailgate operation, Nappa leather seating surfaces, 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated/ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, wireless charging, navigation, wireless smartphone integration, and a vacuum cleaner.

As we previously discussed, the Pinnacle trim has opulent materials such as quilted Nappa leather upholstery and lumbar pillows for the second row. There is also an interior cabin camera, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Miami Lakes Chrysler

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is more stylish and advanced than ever before with its added paint choice, available Amazon Fire TV, and new standard cabin air filter. It also continues to be a great choice for large families or those who prioritize cargo space.

This car company is selling its minivan at a starting price of around $36,000, (plus destination fee). Those who are interested in this vehicle or any of our other models can simply view our online new car inventory at Miami Lakes Automall, then chat with a representative for further assistance.

Highlighting Features of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica practically wrote the textbook for what should be expected in a luxury minivan. This car involves the fusion of a 3.6-liter V6 engine and dual electric motors, which can be geared with an available all-wheel drive (AWD) system. On top of its movie star looks, it is quite mindful of its road manners no matter if you’re making a simple commute to work or a long drive for this holiday season.

Known for having one of the most interior features in its segment, and from our standards, unbeatable technologies, the Pacifica remains supreme in this minivan regime. Here are the Highlighting Features of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

Let’s face it, there’s a 90% chance that you didn’t opt for a minivan just for its features. Most buyers for this segment are in dire need of space, which the Pacifica and its Hybrid variant have a lot of. The cabin also houses many compartments and storage areas, as well as slide-out bins.

Buyers can accommodate 7 people within the three rows, there’s also an Easy Access feature, that allows passengers to easily step in and out of the third row just the simple left of the lever. Moreover, cargo space extends significantly when you fold down the second and third-row seats.

Amazon Fire TV Compatibility

In order to avoid the dreaded “Are we there yet question”, the family-friendly automaker packs on the entertainment features, starting with optional Amazon Fire TV. This technology allows the occupants to stream their preferred TV shows and movies through screens mounted on the rear seats.

Front seat passengers aren’t left out, as they can also enjoy this feature…once the car is in park. Makes sense, as it might serve as a distraction for the driver.

Stylish Interior Design

The best way to describe the style of the cabin is trendy yet classy. Of course, the overall quality is dependent on what trim level you select, especially with the higher ones which involve premium Nappa leather, quilted pillows, and distinctive accents. There is also a suede headliner and Berber carpet crown on the Limited and Pinnacle models.

UConnect 5 Software

Another integral part of Stellantis vehicles is the Uconnect infotainment system, with the Hybrid’s 2022 model bringing on the latest Uconnect 5. This new system has built-in Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and even a wifi hotspot.

Another noteworthy in-cabin tech feature is the FamCam camera…at least for the parents. This system allows one to keep an eye on their little ones in the rear seats via the front seat monitor, this can also be used for those who are animal lovers. So your little critter, no matter furry or not, has a bit of a mischievous streak, this monitoring system practically acts as the eyes in the back of your head.

Excellent Safety Rating

Over the years, the Hybrid model has received countless awards, and a good part of this reason is the slew of safety features that it encompasses, such as automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection, which are standard.

While the minivan hasn’t been tested by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), it has received a “good” rating on all six crash tests. At the same time, it was given a five-star rating from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) for 2022, with five stars given for the side crash test, and four for the rollover and frontal crash tests.

Eco-Friendly Powertrain

One of the most obvious advantages of the 2022 Pacifica Hybrid is its fuel efficiency due to the half-electric powertrain. The vehicle is able to run on 32-miles of electric range, which is great for just a simple commute to the grocery store or some other short errand.

The combination of the V6 motor offers 30 mpg on the highway/city. Alternatively, when the electric motor is running, drivers can revel in an estimated 82 MPGe.

Power Sliding Doors

You can count on the Pacifica to provide a helping hand. Its hands-free sliding doors are helpful when your hands are full, and all that’s required is to sway your foot beneath the door, enabling it to open.

By using the same foot motion, you can open the liftgate. Furthermore, the minivan is geared with a Tri-Pane panoramic sunroof that brings you a little bit closer to the great outdoors.

Miami Lakes Chrysler

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is everything that you would want in a luxury minivan and more. Its features cater to both drivers and passengers and are a must-have for large families or those who just want to save a bit on gas.

The newest Hybrid should hit dealerships in late December or early January, and when that time comes be sure to make your purchase at Miami Lakes Automall. We carry a wide range of vehicles from the brand, which you can easily find on our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

The IIHS Honors The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica With Its TOP SAFETY PICK+

Once again, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica shows why it’s THE family minivan as the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) gave the vehicle the TOP SAFETY PICK+.

Vehicles that are given the IIHS rating are those built after September 2021, following an improvement with the headlamp performance and the adding of the standard Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB).

“Winning the highest IIHS safety rating of TSP+ distinguishes the Chrysler Pacifica’s superior safety technology and performance,” said Chrysler Brand CEO Chris Feuell. “Pacifica is the perfect choice for modern families who are looking for a minivan with the greatest combination of safety, functionality and value.”

The Pacifica received a “good” grade, which is the highest possible rating within the six main crashworthiness tests conducted by the  IIHS:

  • Small overlap front (on the driver side)
  • Small overlap front (on the passenger side)
  • Moderate overlap, front
  • Side impact
  • Roof strength
  • Head restraints and seats

Standard equipment in the Pacifica includes the AEB (automatic emergency brakings) system, which earned a “superior” rating, the highest possible from the IIHS grading system. It includes a new assortment of camera equipment and radar sensors that provide a wider field of view than the former system.

Fusing the two methods of object detection allows for redundancy, which promotes system performance.

The AEB system, which is prominent across the Stellantis project lineup as a standard interior feature, identifies when particular frontal collisions may be looming. If sensors pick up these conditions, this will enable visual and audible alerts, and should the driver fail to respond, the system may enable the vehicle’s brakes to aid in avoiding an impact or decrease its severity.

The Chrysler Pacifica’s Pedestrian AEB system also received an “advanced” rating.

This year’s Chrysler Pacifica is the only minivan in North America with second-row Stow ’n Go seating, which has the advantage of folding into the floor along with AWD (all-wheel-drive).

The minivan’s AWD technology seamlessly engages no matter the speed, and without any action needed by the driver. Should any of the wheels experience a loss in traction, the system will automatically transfer the available engine torque to the wheels with more traction for increased control.

The same rings true for the Pacifica Hybrid, a plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV).

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has earned about 160 industry honors and accolades, making the car industry’s most awarded vehicle in its segment over the last five years.

Miami Lakes Chrysler

If you’re looking for a last minute sale, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is certainly worth the investment. This vehicle has great driving manners, a user-friendly infotainment system, room for up to seven or eight people, and a high-class design layout on the exterior and interior.

The Pacifica Hybrid also is a great choice for those who prioritize saving on gas, it also transitions well when switching from the electric motor to the gasoline engine.
