Waymo Resumes Their Autonomous Ride Service With The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Attention commuters and rideshare enthusiasts! Waymo is encouraging us common folk to get a lift on its self-driving vehicles, which is a service that is gradually expanding and providing rides to a select ground of people for the past year.

The service was launched to the Phoenix masses on Thursday, October 8th. It’s worth mentioning that this should be considered a test launch of sorts before really expanding globally, since these are autonomous vehicles, they will not have a driver to take over the wheel in complex situations within the 50-mile radius that it will roam in. On top of that, there won’t be anyone monitoring the vehicles remotely.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, in which the demand for rides was significantly reduced, Waymo made as many as 2,000 rides in self-driving vehicles on a weekly basis. The majority of the rides had a stand-by driver in case of emergencies, with the exclusion of 5% to 10% of the rides which required a smaller group of commuters to sign nondisclosure agreements. The company did not reveal the number of self-driving cars will be available in its assigned area.

John Krafcik, CEO of Waymo, said in a conference call with journalists. “We are worried about our ability to meet demand with the capabilities of the vehicle we have right now,”

Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google, has automotive sights on California and aspires to eventually mark its territory. However, according to Krafcik, there aren’t definite plans to announce their expansion there.

In an effort to reassure the public of its safety precautions, Waymo is supplying its vehicles with wipes and sanitizing gel, also requesting that commuters verify on a checklist that they have not had exposure to the coronavirus. Additionally, the company requires passengers to wear masks and monitors whether or not they are complying with this rule by using cameras inside the vehicle. The Pacifica Hybrid cars also have an air circulation that aids in removing any germs and bacteria that other riders may have brought in.

These next several weeks will serve as a test run for Waymo rides in the Phoenix area and without a sit-in driver. Following this, the company will reinstitute drivers behind the wheel in certain vehicles in order to allow the company to focus on expanding its (service area).

The 2021 Voyager Doesn’t Skimp On Its Features

The Pacifica wanna-be and budget-friendly Chrysler Voyager is back at it again for the year 2021, embodying style, space, practicality, and comfort. With a starting price of roughly $29,000, (plus destination fee), you’d be a fool to miss an opportunity with this hot mama minivan.

The Voyager proves that it was made for families with its top-ranking scores for safety, such as with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in which the car received five stars from crash tests, as well as top scoring from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The latest 2021 Chrysler model also gets new Forward-collision Mitigation on the optional drivers aid package. Other cool highlighting features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as well as Stow ‘n Go folding 3rd-row seats.

Engine and Drive

The 2021 Voyager is powered by a highly efficient 3.6-liter V6 engine that gives out 287 horsepower with 262 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides just enough muscle that is slightly more than the Honda Odyssey. The engine is also paired with a standard 9-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel-drive.

This Chrysler minivan currently doesn’t have an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for next year, but it’s highly likely that these figures will be the same as the 2020 model, which is 19/28 mpg.

When driving, the Voyager’s torque creates more than enough thrust when pushing those grannies off the freeway, passing, and zipping in and out of traffic. Additionally, Chrysler has made much improvement with its automatic transmission, as the car has a more enhanced performance, which is smooth as silk and very comfortable.

Interior and Features

The new Voyager only offers two different trims, the entry-level L and LX, but one shouldn’t see that as a deterrent, since both models provide a plethora of exciting features.

To start off, the L model comes with dual-zone manual climate control and a manually adjustable driver’s seat. It also has heated side mirrors, cruise control, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth streaming, USB port, auxiliary audio input, and a 6-speaker sound system.

Upgrading to the LX trim will get you a more advanced suspension setup, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 3-zone temperature control, ambient cabin lighting, satellite radio, 2nd-row stowage, and admission for more options.

Speaking of such, an optional feature to look forward to is the company’s SafetyTec package, which encompasses blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, full-speed forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and new pedestrian detection, and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

In terms of the styling, the best way to have an idea of the exterior design is to simply look at the Pacifica, but one should know that the LX model is spruced up by the 7-inch alloy wheels and body-colored door handles. It also has an available roof rack.

On the inside, the car accommodates up to seven people, two in the first couple of rows and three in the very back. Standard color choices from the upholstery include either black or brown. As with any minivan from Chrysler, there’s lots of space to work with, as well as storage.

Space is further emphasized with the brand’s Stow ‘n Go seats that fold flat into the floor and are located in the third row. Once again, the LX enhances this by having storage space underneath the floor in the second row. Ultimately, the cargo volume is an impressive 32.3 cubic feet, even when all the seats are up.

The 2021 Chrysler 300 Is Still The All-American Dream

Time and time again, automotive critics continue to underestimate the All-American Chrysler 300 sedan, meanwhile, this car has been able to stand the test of time and its been doing so since 2005 due to its powerful V8 engine option, all-wheel-drive, and enjoyable cabin ride. It appears that the automaker has the “If It Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It” approach, but that doesn’t mean it’s outdated. As with each model year, new technological updates and very minute design changes are added to make sure that this ol’ crooner still stays hip.

New Features for the 2021 Chrysler 300 includes blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors added on the Touring L, standard Red S Appearance package on 300S, new Comfort Group options bundle as well as a new Popular Equipment package.

Driving and Engine

The standard 3.6-liter V6 engine has gained immense respect in the automotive industry. This award-winning machine brings out 292 horsepower on the Touring and Touring L models, and 300 on the 300S. On top of this, the V6 gets a liberal amount of torque, making the perfect companion for sweeping in and out of rush hour traffic.

Those who upgrade to the powerful and fearless 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine on the 300S will zoom off on 363 horsepower with 394 lb-ft of torque. This engine teams up with a rear-wheel-drive system, however, all-wheel-drive can serve as an option on the Touring and Touring L trims for the V6-engine.

An 8-speed automatic transmission is used for the 2021 300, but one can also choose the manual shift mode, especially since it allows for much better performance. It’s recommended to use Premium fuel for the V8, but both engines function just fine on regular unleaded.

Overall, the drive is highly energetic and great with handling. Of course, opting for the V8 engine will give you a more exciting experience by far and with the help of the 8-speed transmission, the ride flows nice and smooth, then even more so with the Sport mode.

Exterior

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the overall styling is pretty much the same as it was in 2005, but it wouldn’t be a Chrysler classic if it wasn’t! Its design looks like something your rich boss might be driving as he’s on his way to meet his rich yacht buddies. There are some subtle design elements that one might appreciate, such as the blacked-out detailing on the 300S. Additionally, the automaker offers Sport Appearance and Chrome Appearance packages on the entry-level 300 Touring, with both introducing 20-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

The 2021 Chrysler is as just as much of a looker on the inside as it is on the outside. First off, passengers are immediately swallowed up by the 300’s large interior, and the same goes for their luggage with 16-cubic feet worth of space. The materials on the dashboard and the seats look swanky in their own right, but let’s be honest, the Sport Appearance adds that extra oomph in order to really make the aesthetics pop. The addition of the analog clock, rotary gear selector, and a 7-inch instrument cluster gives the interior an even more sophisticated feel.

Standard and Optional Features

As previously mentioned, although Chrysler prefers to keep a more traditional style, it adds subtle touches to make the car more modern. On the other hand, when it comes to its technologies, its quality is nothing short of state-of-the-art. Standard features include dual-zone climate control, keyless entry/ignition, cloth upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dash-mounted analog clock, leather-wrapped steering wheel, split/folding rear seat, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The infotainment system has an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, two USB ports, Bluetooth phone/audio, AM/FM/HD/satellite radio, voice control, and a 6-speaker audio system…and that’s just for the base model.

The Touring L model features blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front/rear parking sensors, self-dimming driver’s-side exterior mirror, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, remote start, and LED fog lights. Meanwhile, the 300S adds on paddle shifters and a performance-tuned suspension.

Some highlighting available features include the new Popular Equipment and Comfort Group. The Popular Equipment tacks on navigation, SiriusXM traffic updates, a 9-speaker/506-watt surround-sound system, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, while the Comfort Group includes self-leveling headlights, memory settings, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heat steering wheel, powered rear sunshade, and LED-illuminated rear cup holders.
