The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica’s User-Friendly UConnect 5 System Is The Best Yet

For a long time, SUVs and minivans have encompassed a trend of turning their vehicle interior’s into a sort of home away from home, and not just with their chic designs and comforts but their advanced technology. Chrysler is perhaps one of the most notable brands to adopt this trend, particularly in its Pacifica models, and year after year it wins accolades and awards for being a vehicle that is very suitable for families.

Just when it seems like Chrysler has reached its peak, the company introduces its new center infotainment screen on its 2021 Pacifica minivan. Its enhancements show that it intends to evolve with the times, as it has features that are compatible with mobile devices.

Fiat Chrysler statistics state that 51 percent of buyers of new cars specify interior-tech as one of their determinants.  Bearing in mind buyers who are cultured with different types of technology, the number is likely even greater, as 64 percent of rerun buyers claim the interior technology made them want to come back.

Car reviewers and even some automakers frequently make the assumption that when car buyers say that they prioritize interior technology that this means including a lot of gaudy features in the center console with entertainment features and other conveniences, while that can certainly be a plus, what most buyers really mean by value is a system that is user-friendly and not this flashy and complicated system they have to work with while trying to maintain control on the highway. Those who opt for a Chrysler vehicle will have hit the jackpot based on their tech needs since the company’s UConnect system is often favored for its ease of use.

The newest UConnect is 5 times faster than the previous generation. This takes care of the issues of earlier systems, as it would take a few seconds too long after the driver pressed a button, which really doesn’t help the issue of short attention spans during the digital age and can also prove to be very dangerous. For the first time, the system also includes wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Another improvement of the UConnect 5 includes bigger fonts and buttons. As great as it is for automakers to add more features, it becomes more of an inconvenience if they start jamming all of these features in places where they cannot be located easily. Chrysler’s designer made sure that this doesn’t happen for next year’s model by making certain configurations that make buttons easy to spot by drivers, this is especially important since many studies have shown that drivers taking their eyes off the road even for a few seconds can increase the chances of a crash dramatically.

The latest UConnect still has some familiarities that aids in accommodating all of the main features while reducing the number of digital knobs on one screen, like having more than one monitor to work with. Ultimately drivers can simply configure their most practiced functions onto the home screen, as well as other drivers in the household. The new Pacifica will also receive a bigger 10.1-inch, horizontal center screen.

Another first for the new UConnect is the ability for the car to collaborate with Smarthome features in the driver’s house like the thermostat or garage door opener. This system provides even more versatility now that it’s Android-based, which means owners will have possible admission to the largest third-party apps in the world.

Fiat Chrysler Gains Another Autonomous Partnership, This Time With Udacity

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), a.k.a The Godfather of Minivans, has consented to provide vehicles made particularly for Voyage Auto Inc, an autonomous automobile startup company, whose self-driving or “robotaxis” have been transporting senior citizens around a retirement section in San Jose.

The Voyage tech company that is currently established in Palo Alto, California, is a spinoff from the for-profit online educational organization, Udacity. The company has been making use of the altered Chrysler Pacifica minivans, more specifically that of the Pacifica Hybrid. These new converted variants have been precisely designed for autonomous driving and include new modifications such as redundant braking and steering that are necessary for driverless vehicles.

“Building a self-driving car requires a deep connection between software and hardware, and both pieces need to be considered in tandem,” Voyage CEO Oliver Cameron wrote in a blog about the deal. “This partnership connects Voyage’s self-driving technology with FCA’s deep expertise in building vehicles to launch truly driverless transportation services.”

This partnership is the most recent in a series that the Fiat company has made with autonomous startups like Alphabet Inc’s vehicles from Waymo, which provides custom-made Chrysler Pacifica models. The automaker is also pairing up with Pala Alto-established Aurora Innovation Inc, which is developing autonomous vehicles.

Last month in April, Voyage was granted a permit to shuttle passengers around California in its vehicles, also pairing up with autonomous companies like Aurora Innovation, AutoX Technologies, Cruise Automation, Pony.ai, Zoox and Waymo, which have all been given permission to provide rides around particular areas.

It has been alleged that those who reside in San Jose’s Villages senior community requested rides past its border limits at that particular time. Originally, Voyage started to charge for its shuttle services in the area, but that was before the COVID-19 pandemic came into fruition, and the company was forced to temporarily suspend its services. The company has also tried applying for a transportation charter permit, which is prescribed for limousines, buses and other third-party charters services.

In total, Voyage has raised roughly $51 million in backing from investors like Franklin Templeton Investments, InMotion Ventures, MS&AD Ventures, Chevron Technology Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

FCA and Chrysler Expand Their Partnership With No Kid Hungry

Why FCA Is Expanding Their No Kid Hungry Partnership

Recently in mid-March, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) decided to pay it forward by expanding its union with No Kid Hungry, a national campaign that is dedicated to ending child hunger in America. The FCA’s partnership with the organization would help to provide more than 1 million meals to children who rely on school meals, sometimes as their only means of getting wholesome food.

“There has never been a more important moment to help children and their families,” said Mark Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of FCA – North America. “FCA and the Chrysler brand are pleased to support No Kid Hungry in its mission to end childhood hunger.”

Slowly but surely the plan is being set in motion to No Kid Hungry’s recipients: schools, food banks and community groups across the nation are being supported with 640,000 meals during temporary school shutdowns, in which FCA’s partnership is instrumental.

Ever since the nationwide closing of schools in the midst of the pandemic, a considerable number of susceptible children are at risk of losing the healthful meals that they rely on, but thankfully, No Kid Hungry has plans on how to go about feeding them. As part of its relief efforts, the organization is giving emergency grants to schools, food banks and community groups nationwide. It will also veer staff and its resources to the communities in which this problem has taken the worst toll.

“We are incredibly grateful to FCA and to the Chrysler brand for stepping up even more so for America’s kids,” said Tom Nelson, President and CEO at Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign. “This incremental support will help us feed more vulnerable kids who are currently missing the school meals they rely on.”

Along with FCA’s national collaboration with No Kid Hungry, the family-friendly automobile company is working with more than 40 local nonprofit organizations that are also giving meals to children in communities around its primary manufacturing plants in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Comparable programs are afoot in Canada and Mexico.

What You Can Do To Help

Additionally, Chrysler supplements these endeavors by working with families by easing their financial burden through Chrysler Pacifica Family Pricing.  Family Pricing eliminates the need for negotiating when buying a vehicle by allowing all customers the same remarkable discount.

If you were already looking for a family-friendly vehicle, a Chrysler Pacifica model is undoubtedly the best one on the market and with the company’s collaboration with No Kid Hungry, there is no time better than right now.

The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica and 2020 Pacifica Hybrid provide comfort and ease for both drivers and passengers alike. It also comes with advanced tech features like power liftgate, power sliding side doors, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, tri-zone climate control and a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for the Touring and an 8.4-inch touch screen and a digital instrument cluster for the Hybrid.

Third Times The Charm: The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Earns Good Housekeeping’s Best New Family Car Award

Last week Tuesday (April 28), Good Housekeeping in collaboration with Car and Driver announced the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica as the winner of its 2020 Best New Family Car award in the minivan segment. The latest Pacifica was recently presented at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show and along with many of its other accolades and honors, it’s helping to maintain its winning streak as the most award minivan over the past four years. The full list of award winners is already shown in the May 2020 print and online edition of Good Housekeeping.

The Good Housekeeping company partnered up with Car and Driver to access a variety of new vehicles in order to determine the top models, going up into the hundreds. They ultimately picked 15 as best-in-class vehicles. The Pacifica is no stranger to critical acclaim and attention, as it has more than 130 industry awards and honors ever since it was introduced, this most recent honor makes it Pacifica’s third successive honor from the notable women’s magazine. Additionally, Pacifica has won Best New Minivan in 2019, and the year before that, its Hybrid version won for Best New Hybrid for 2018.

As announced in February at the Chicago Auto Show, the newest Pacifica will provide a new AWD system, bringing forth the market’s most reliable minivan that not only has AWD but also Stow ‘n Go seating, which no other car in this segment has. This system provides improved traction in a variety of complex road conditions such as roads covered in snow or choppy surfaces, it also adjusts quickly without much need for driver interaction.

The exterior and interior have gone through a likable nip and tuck, such as with the front grille, headlamps, fog lamps and taillamp that all help to provide a sporty and flavorful look. The new Pacifica also includes most of the standard features that you would find in most new automobiles, with an amazing 97 to count and 14 brand-new ones, like LED lights and Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking (PAEB).

A new top-tier Pacifica Pinnacle model provides drivers with the most deluxe interior in its segment. A highlighting feature is two new available built-in consoles made to easily drift into the instrument panel. Those who prioritize visual quality on top of practicality will appreciate the Caramel Nappa leather seats which are detailed with quilted seat side bolsters and pierced seat inserts and seatbacks on all three rows. The second-row captain’s chairs include a special set of two movable lumbar comfort pillows, which mirror the overall style of the leather seats and also help to give a splash of class and comfort for non-driving occupants.

It’s quite likely that you won’t find a vehicle that is as technologically savvy as the 2021 Pacifica since it brings in upgrades to the forefront with its latest 10.1-inch touchscreen as a partner of the new Uconnect 5 system, which will be offered in FCA’s North American variant for the first time. The latest touchscreen is the largest standard screen in its class and is roughly 20 percent larger than its predecessor, it also enables processing speeds up to five times faster.

Another highlighting new feature is Pacifica’s FamCAM interior camera, it displays high-definition images and lets the driver keep a close eye on events in the backseat, which of course parents with small children will love. There are also segment-exclusive features that include a split-view display and a fascinating “zoom-to-seat” element.

Moreover, the Pacifica Hybrid pushes out more than 80 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) in electric-only mode, an all-electric range of more than 30 miles and a total range of more than 500 miles.
