My First Time Driving a Chrysler Pacifica

Miami Lakes Automall 2017 Chrysler Pacifica First ImpressionsBetween the months of August and September, Miami Lakes Automall was working with Polesport Champion and filmographer, Kristian Lebedev to create multimedia and promotional material for several car brands. During which time, I, Jordan Rodriguez was assigned to work with Kristian. The following is my impression of the Chrysler Pacifica.

Although not a fan of minivans, or family cars in general, the Pacifica surprised me. I’ve been writing a lot about it and its features, but being inside one gave me better insight into the vehicle I was writing and talking about. First off, the interior threw me for quite the spin. Minivans sure have changed since I was a kid.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Continues to Earn Top Awards

chrysler-pacifica-miami-lakes-chyrsler

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan has been dominating the minivan game this past year. Just released in the spring of 2016, the all-new minivan has already won multiple awards, including an award for its panoramic sunroof at Topless in Miami, and the award for ‘Best Family Car’ by the Atlanta Automotive Media Association.

Last week, the Pacifica added another award to its trophy case when it placed on the “Top Ten Best User Experience” list by WardsAuto. And this week, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ for 2016. The Pacifica achieves the highest possible score in each five tests used by IIHS to evaluate crashworthiness.

WardsAuto is a well-established source for the latest trends and reviewes in the auto industry, so its recognition for the Pacifica for the second time this year is impressive. Earlier this year, Ward’s named the Chrysler Pacifica to their list of “10 Best Interiors” and now the Pacifica was on their “Best User Experience” list.

WardsAuto editors tested 29 different vehicles and rated them based on user experience and friendliness. The main items used to assess vehicles were infotainment features, sound systems, vehicle connectivity, driver assistance technology, information/displays, system compatibility and materials.

In a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles press release, the Senior Editor of WardsAuto, Tom Murphy was quoted saying, “The Pacifica treats occupants of all ages, especially the young, like royalty.  This vehicle has six USB ports, it understands and correctly processes simple voice commands and it can park itself, both parallel and perpendicular.“

Other features that made the Pacifica stand out from competitors include standard features like a rear-backup camera, the standard 5-inch and available 8.4-inch screen with Uconnect entertainment, noise cancelling technology, and a 7-inch color driver’s instrument cluster screen.

There are also additional options that take the Pacifica to the next level, like the Uconnect Theatre package. This special package includes 10.1-inch seat mounted touchscreens, Bluray DVD player, access to Netflix and video game capabilities and a Bluetooth technology. So you can either play a DVD or stream something from your phone, very convenient. Additionally, the Uconnect Theater includes wireless headphones and a remote, so others don’t need to be disturbed by what other people are watching.

In other related news, last week the anticipated Pacifica Hybrid was on display at the Miami International Auto Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The show has featured international and domestic cars annually for over 30 years (since the 70s). This year the Pacifica Hybrid was in the spotlight as the first hybrid minivan.

The Pacifica Hybrid is arriving at dealerships in late 2016, and it is sure to be popular. The Pacifica Hybrid is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine combined with a 16-kWh battery pack, along with a twin-electric-motor setup. Together this system provides up to 30-miles all electric range, 80 mpge highway and 260 horsepower.

Exploring a South Florida Neighborhood: Wynwood

wynwood-miami-lakes-auto-mall

South Florida is full of unique places to explore. One of our favorite areas in South Florida is Wynwood, Miami’s Art District. In a few words, Wynwood is bright, creative, eye-catching and outgoing neighborhood that has late nights and fairly quiet mornings.

Wynwood has a long history, but today’s Wynwood became Wynwood in 2006. The man credited for Wynwood’s colorful walls and art emphasis is Tony Goldman. Goldman began purchasing warehouse property in the district in 2006, and in 2009, he dedicated an open air area to the works of a few artists who would create what is known as the Wynwood Walls.

If you haven’t been to Wynwood, or you want to revisit the area because you just can’t get enough, here are some excellent attractions, shops and restaurants worth checking out.

ART

Wynwood is dedicated to art. There are always new gallery displays and different activities going on for the public to check out. As Miami’s Art District, the city really goes crazy as a ton of Art Basel activities, parties and satellite shows takeover the neighborhood. Art Basel will be returning to Miami Beach and Miami Dec. 1-4, 2016.

Wynwood Walls

Unlike a lot of the murals covering what seems like every inch of every building and street pole in Wynwood, the Wynwood Walls are particularly significant. Within the walls are a group of original murals, done by artists like Obey’s Shepard Fairey and How, that will never be changed. The open air gallery houses huge murals and shares space with the restaurant, Wynwood Kitchen and Bar. Read the rest of this entry >>

New 2017 Chrysler models available at Miami Lakes Chrysler

2017 Chrysler Models: Pacifica, 200 and 300

New 2017 Chrysler models available at Miami Lakes ChryslerWith only three 2017 Chrysler models in the lineup, the Chrysler 200, 300 and Pacifica, all the new model year vehicles have been carefully designed from the inside out. Here’s a quick look at the new 2017 Chrysler models and their engine’s fuel economy, safety and interior.

Engine

First thing’s first, we all want to know what’s under the hood. The standard engine for the Pacifica is a 3.6-liter V6 24-valve VVT engine. That’s “VVT” for “variable valve timing,” a process that optimizes engine power and fuel efficiency, lending to 287 horsepower and fuel economy of 18/28 MPG city/highway for the Pacifica.

The Chrysler 300S, 300C, and 300C Platinum will have a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, delivering 363-horsepower. All three 300 trims have an EPA rated fuel economy of 16/25 MPG city/highway.

The 200 is powered by a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine. As the smallest car with the smallest engine, it has the best fuel economy of the three models with an average of 23 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.

Safety

Safety is always a great commodity to explore when it comes to family cars, and Chrysler is not skipping any beats. Building on its “Top Safety Pick” credentials, the 2017 Chrysler 300 has a 360-degree perspective made available by SafetyTec Plus Group’s Full-speed Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus with Full Stop, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Path detection.
